Chapter 7 The hunt

With a full belly, Inyahsa was ready to begin. He stood up, making over to the huts entrance.

"Come on, Shippou. Hurry up." Inuyasha called out.

"Hai……thanks for breakfast Keade." Shippou chirped. She nodded her head to him with out saying anything. He got up and gave Kagome a quick kiss before passing the hanyou to go outside.

Keade excused herself to her room to change as Kagome made her way over to Inuyasha.

"I've been thinking, Inu-chan," Kagome said in a seductive voice. Inuyasha swallowed hard when he saw the look on her face.

"Since you say I'll be coming into heat today, I think it would be a very good idea to start working on a pup of our own, ok." She slowly wrapped her arms around his neck, staring straight into his golden eyes, just before giving him one-hell-of-a-kiss. As she pulled back, she gave him a smirk that could have rivaled one of his own.

Then when she saw he was distracted enough, she slowly slipped her hand the inside of his pants, gently stroking a certain something. Inuyashas breath hitched in his throat when she touched him. But then she quickly stopped and pulled out.

"That's just a taste of what's to come tonight when you come back." Kagomes voice was husky when she whispered into his ear.

"Now go. The sooner you leave……" She purposely left it hanging there as she stepped away. She giggled at the lopsided grin on her mates lips.

"Why you little vixen you!!" Inuyasha said, once he pulled himself back together. He reached out and pulled her close.

"Just you wait till I get back….."

"OI!! Stop with the mushy stuff already. Its bad enough Miroku and Sango are doing it. Do you two have to as well?"

The pair pulled apart when the little voice spoke, blushing a few shades of red each.

"Shippou-chan!! Ahh….I…..we…..What do you mean Sango and Miroku as well!?!" Kagome and Iunyasha were quite embarrassed at being walked in on by their `pup,' as it were. Shippou fidgeted a little with his tail.

"I ahhhh….last night….uhh….I needed to relive myself. When I walked out into the main room of the hut, I saw them together. There was this scent about them I didn't recognize. I was curious as to what they were doing, so I hid in the shadows and…..watched. Is that what you and Inu-papa do? Is that why you two smell like each other?"

Needless to say, Kagome and Inuyasha were beyond speechless. Infact, they were just flat dumb-founded. Since when did those two get together?

"Ahhh, Shippou-chan. That wasn't very good of you spying on them like that…..but ahhh….yes." A very, very embarrassed Kagome answered.

"So…..is that how pups come?" Shippou's curiosity was growing now. He wanted answers as to what they were doing and stuff.

"Shippou," Inuyasha said "We don't have time right now for this…..but yes. What you saw is how a pup is created. Now let's go."

Inuyasha gave quick kiss to his seductive mate and left with Shippou.

"So, could it be their bickering is really just for show so no one would know? But that can't be right. Inuyasha's nose should have picked something up. Hum….I'm going to have to have a talk with Sango when she gets up." Kagome muttered to herself.

Inuyasha took his time walking to where the hunting group was located, which was on the outs skirts of the village. Shippou was on Inuyasha's shoulder, hyper as ever.

"Now Shippou. I want you to stay close to me and watch, but don't get in the way. After I take down a few, I want you to show me what you have learned. We'll probably start you off with rabbits since their smallest, ok."

"Ok Inu-Papa. I'll do my best to make you and Kagome-mama proud of me."

"Hai. That's the spirit. Now off. We're almost there."

Inuyasha casually walked over to the village leader, Lynx. He took a look at the group of men. There were about 25 or so. Inuyasha inwardly breathed a sigh in relief. It looks like this might not take that much time to do and then he can get back to were he and Kagome left off.

"Well, there you are. Humph, nice to see you've decided to come after all." Lynx sneered, and then looked over at Shippou.

"Who's the kid? And why is he here? He'll only get in the way of thing to come." Shippou was taken aback, his `papa' said he could be here too and now this human says he can't!? Tears started to well up in his blue eyes. Inuyasha could smell the salty scent in the air from Shippou, just like he always could with Kagome. This did not make Inuyasha happy in the least. He was only providing his services to the village because Keade had asked him to. Other wise he would only be hunting for his own family. There was no way Inuyasha was going to let this human tell him how things are going to be.

"Feh. He's with me. That's all you need to know. And no, he would be in the way seeing as I am doing the hunting and you are doing the cleaning." Inuyasha was now irritated. Who does this human think he is? Inuyasha had a good mind to just leave them hanging, but thought better of it. He was getting paid after all and……he does need to provide for his family too.

"Let's move out. I know where the migrational trail is for the deer." Inuyasha growled out to group.

Koga and his pack stooped at the edge of a river to refresh themselves. They have been hunting since the pre-dawn hours. They too, knew it is time to start stocking up on meats for the harsh winter to come. Especially since they live in the mountain ranges, food there is near impossible to find when the first snow hits. So they have to come down from their den for food. And Koga is going to need all he can get to feed his growing tribe. About

"Kagome. I am going to be leaving for a few days to the village to the north of here. A good friend of mine is sick, so I'll be there if I am need. Have you been practicing on how to make a rosary? You never now when you are ever in need of one." Keade finished packing the medicated herbs she'll be needing and was heading to leave the hut.

"Is it the same village that the village leader, Lynx, is from Keade?" Keade turn around to regard the young miko.

"Hai. It is. Infact, it is his sister that I am visiting. Please let him know that she wishes him there when they have returned."

"No problem Keade. Have a safe trip." Soon Keade was on her horse and heading out in a matter of minuets.

`Hehe. Now to go find Sango. She's got some explaining to do.' Kagome thought to herself. She turned around and headed down the hall and to the room her friends were at. With a knock on the door, she walked in.

"Lady Kagome. Good morning to you. Did you sleep well?" Miroku asked after yawning a bit.

Kagome made her way over to the futon and sat in front of it. She blushed a little and turned her head when Miroku sat up in bed, exposing his naked chest but threw him a smirk dangerously similar to Inuyasha's.

"Hai. I did. But I should be asking you the same."

Miroku started to shudder, but then composed himself. "Ahhh, Lady Kagome. What ever do you mean?"

"You don't need to hid it from me. I already know." Kagome replied, smirk still in place.

"I see. Ahh, when did Inuyasha find out?"

"Umm…..actually it wasn't him Miroku. But may I suggest that next time be in your room so that, ahh……others don't stumble across you two." Kagome could no longer hold back her blush. It's hard to imagine the two of them going at it. Infact….. It's even harder for her to believe that her and Inuyasha go at it. With that thought, her blush doubled and she had to hide her face behind her bangs when she tucked her chin to her chest.

"Oh dear. Who ummm witnessed us?" Miroku asked.

"It was Shippou." `Ok…time to change the subject. Or I'll be permanently stained with this blush.' Kagome thought to herself.

"So….where's Sango at?"

"Oh yes. She wanted me to tell you she'll meet you at the hot spring. And ahhh, Kagome, please don't say anything about Shippou being the one who found out."

"Of cource. See ya later." Kagome chirped, then was out in the blink of an eye.

"Wow, Inuyasha. I didn't hear anything that time when you brought that buck down." Shippou squealed, when Inuyasha righted himself from his kill.

"Feh. That's the whole point pup. Now. It's you turn. Remember what you've learned so far. 1. Sniff out your prey. 2. Always make sure your down wind and 3. Always stay low to the ground. If the prey sees or smells you, they will flee. I'm going to take this carcass back to the others. I think I've done enough to earn a break. Good luck Shippou. And remember, only rabbits, ok."

"Hai Inu-papa. I won't let ya down." Shippou puffed out his chest and tail as best he could. In the blink on an eye, Inuyasha was gone.

`Finally. A chance to prove myself. This is going to be great.' Shippou thought. He sat down for a moment to review over again what needs to be done.

Koga was proud of his pack. The morning hunt was a great success. When they had gathered enough food, half of his pack left to take back what they had to the rest of the tribe, then return. So, in the mean time, all there was to do was just relax. Koga yawned and stretched a little. He settled against a tree and closed his eyes.

The morning waned on into late afternoon when a particular scent tickled his sensitive nose. Koga scrunched his nose in disgust when he realized there was also the scent of dog with `her' scent. And it wasn't just her normal intoxicating scent, but the scent of being in heat. Koga snapped his eyes open, sniffing the air around him. He figured Dog-Turd was about 4 miles from him and about 10 or so from his so-called village. He sniffed again, noting the scent of animal blood.

`So, Dog-Turd is out hunting as well huh? And that would mean Kagome is not with him. Now's my chance to get `my' woman away from that stupid half breed.' Koga smirked to himself as he thought about how she was finally going to be his.

Koga instructed the rest of the pack to go home because he needed to take care of some business. Then took off, following the faint scent that was Kagome.

The village men labored long and hard all day cleaning the carcasses that Inuyasha kept bring. Some of the men hauled the meat back to the village in carts, while the remaining cleaned. But with the amount of men working together, the harvesting of meat was going well paced. Inuyasha was quite tired as he brought a carcass to the awaiting men, then went and sat against a tree to rest.

"OI. Lynx. How much more do ya think is need? I need to take a break for a while." Inuyasha couldn't hold back the yawns that escaped his mouth when he spoke.

"I think we have enough for now. I'll take a full count when all of it is back at the village. But I'm sure we'll get buy comfortably this winter." Lynx then walked over to Innyasha and bent over to talk to him so no others could hear.

"I want to thank you for your services Inuyasha for helping us out as you always do and to apologize for what I had said earlier. Here is your payment as is the deal. 1,000 Rues. (I am not sure of what Japanese money is really called) Is there any thing else you wish?" Lynx handed Inuyasha a little satchel of money and backed away.

"Feh. The money will be suffice. But I do have a request. I want 50 of the deer pelt. Will that be a problem, Lynx?"

"No. of cource not. But may I ask you why?"

"Feh. I shouldn't but….I will. It's a surprise for my mate. I'm going to make a deer hide blanket with them."

"Well, good luck with your surprise then. If you'll excuse now, the sun will be setting in a couple of hours and I need to make sure all of the meat makes it back to the village."

"Fine. Yell if ya need me." Inuyasha tucked his chin to his chest and fell into a light sleep, though his ears caught every sound.

Kagome eagerly grabbed her bathing bag and towel, then proceeded down the path that leads to the spring.

`A hot bath sounds so good right now right now after what we did last night. I never knew there would be so much or how messy or that he would be so big. I am really sore down there. Hum…..speaking of which, I wonder when, during our `togetherness,' he bit my shoulder. It hurts just as much as down below.'

Kagome was furiously blushing when she got to the spring from thinking about Inuyasha and the things he did. She stopped just before reaching it to pull herself together.

"Good morning, Kagome-chan did you sleep well?" Sango innocently ask, knowing full well what took place. Kagome saw the amusement in Sangos eyes. She smirked when she asnswered.

"Yes, I did, although, I should be asking you the same thing." Kagome sank farther into the healing warm water up to her chin. The aching pain down below and in her neck were feeling much better all ready. "Ohhh man. This feels so good."

"Ah, Kagome, what do you mean?" Sango questioned, turning her head to hide her blush.

"Ohh come on Sango-chan. You know how sensitive Inuyasha's nose is. So, of course, when he found out, I did also. And I am very happy for the both of you." True to her word to Miroku, she didn't say anything about Shippou watching. It sure took them long enough.

"Yeah your right. He does have a pretty good nose. Ummm…..last night was the first time we were together like that. Before we would just pleasure each other with some foreplay. But last night felt different. I don't know how to explain it; it's just that we felt it was the right time. Hehe, it's funny now that I think about it, but for a long while now, I've known that I've been in love with that perverted, lecherous monk. Kind of like it's been for you two, huh. It's a shame that it took a near fatal tragedy for you two to realize how much you loved each other."

"Yeah I know. So, in a way, that stupid snake demon did us a favor. I just hope that if the time ever comes for us to fight Naraku, we will come out victorious. It would near kill me if any one from our group perished from him. Anyway, on a lighter note, I want to ask you and Miroku-"

Suddenly, Kagome cut herself off when she started to feel the familiar tingle of a shard. She closed her eyes and concentrated. There were two of them. Coming fast. Kagomes eyes snapped open when she realized just what was coming their way.

"Ohh shit. Not now." Grumbled Kagome.

"Kagome, what's wrong? You look….disturbed." Sango was very worried for her friend. Kagome didn't look good just now.

"Its ok Sango. I'm just sensing two jewel shards, coming fast. It's Koga. Hurry up and get out. We barely have time to get dressed before he gets here. This is not good. I don't need this right now. Stupid wolf."

The two girls had just finished getting dressed when Koga came through the bushes.

"KAGME!!." Koga skidded to a halt in front of her, clasping her hands into his.

"Koga-kun…..what are you doing here?" Sango was at a loss when Kagome turned to her. She had left her boomerang weapon at the village. The girls knew they were in trouble, being that Inuyasha still won't be back for a while and by the time he does catch Koga's scent, it will probably be too late.

"Why I'm here to take you home. It's time to claim you as my mate, being that you are in heat, you will bear me my pup." Koga pulled her closer and nuzzled her neck, but Kagome pushed away.

"Koga….I have never once or ever will be your mate. I am now mated with Inuyasha. I only see you as a friend, nothing more. Now go home." Kagome's anger was very slowly rising. What can't that wimpy wolf just find some one else? Why does it have to be me all the time?

Koga leaned in and took a good sniff. Sure enough Dog-turds scent was there. He growled a little in his throat.

"No matter. I can still take you and make you mine. That damn half breed doesn't deserve a fine female such as yourself. Now, lets go." Koga tried reaching over to make a grab at Kagome's arm, but Sango was able to step in.

"Back off wolf. Kagome is not going any where with you. You heard what she said. She belongs to Inuyasha now. So leave in peace." Koga's temper was now rising. How dare this human think she can stop him from getting what is his.

"Never!!! I came for my woman and I'm not leaving until I have her." He back handed Sango away. He was becoming most impatient. Kagome's heat scent is rising. "Since Dog-turd isn't any where around, she's going home with me." Koga again tired to reach out for Kagome's arm, but Sango was able to sweep out his feet while she was still on the ground. She had Kagome stand up against her back, trying to protect her as best she could.

"Damn it wolf. Leave her a lone." Sango yelled out. "Where are-" Sango froze in mid sentence as Koga got back on his feet.

"Get out of the way now or I'll make you…..Hey……whats wrong with you?" Koga's anger quickly left as he stared at Sango. Her face was drained of all color, eye were near pooping out and mouth sagging wide open. Sango was mentally hitting herself for leaving her weapon behind. The situation had just turned from annoying to horribly, horribly bad.

"Holy shit." Was the only words Sango was able to get out her mouth. Kagome brought up her head to chance a look at what could have caused Sango to use just language. It just wasn't her. What Kagome saw before them, made her wish she had never gotten out of bed this morning.

"I believe the Demon Huntress asked you to leave her `friend `alone. Did she not?" The smooth texture in the voice behind Koga, sent shivers up his spine. Now it was Koga's turn to have all color drain from his face. He knew exactly whose voice that was. He remained still for several moments before turning around to face the owner of the voice.

And there stood Sesshomaru in all of his horrifying, but beautiful glory.

"I, Sesshomaru, have asked you a question. I demand an answer. Now." His voice never wavered. But you could feel the anger in his words.

A/N: Holy Shit is right Sango!!! This isn't good. Stay tuned for next chappie…The demise of one, the humiliation of the other.
