Scene- 1st Date-Sunday
Miroku stood in the doorway to the study that his wife occupied and quietly watched her as she worked. He suspected she was mad at him again but for the life of him he couldn't fathom why. He had thought the charity ball had gone smoothly and the dress she wore had tempted him to distraction. So it was no wonder that they'd barely sat in the limo when he had pulled her body to his and gave her a kiss. He had expected a lot of reactions but he hadn't expected her to be cold and unmoving in his embrace. He had looked at her in confusion while she gave him a weak smile and a weaker excuse.
“Sorry…I told you I didn't like crowds. I think it took a greater toll on me then I thought.”
“What do you mean? I thought you handled yourself quiet well.” He had started running one hand up and down her thigh only to have her gently brush it away.
“Yes well…I now have a pounding headache not to mention my feet are killing me from these heels you made me wear.” Sango tried to keep her voice light and her lashes lowered so he wouldn't see the anger and the hurt that lay in her eyes.
“Oh is that all? Well, I think I can fix that wife.” Sango had let out a gasp as she suddenly found herself half laying on the car seat with her left foot held securely in his lap. “I've been told my hands are like magic when it comes to massages, plus the nerves in your feet are connected to all the major points throughout your body. I'll have that headache of yours gone in no time.” He had deftly slipped off the high heeled shoe and began to massage the tender soles.
Sango had gritted her teeth against letting out a moan of pleasure at his actions. Instead once she got her bearings about herself she tugged her foot out of his capable hands and sat back up. “While I'm sure your hands are just fine, I'm really just too tired right now. You don't mind do yo, if I just close my eyes and nap until we get home?” Without letting him answer she continued. “Thanks. Wake me when we reach the house” She had then purposely scooted over to the far corner and curled up, her back to him. How dare he touch her after fawning all over Jackie Burns! He could keep his damn magic hands to himself.
Miroku was not fooled and recognized the stiffness in her curled form for what it was, rejection and anger. He hadn't pursued the issue, but instead heaving a big sigh had set back in the limo trying to figure out what he'd done this time while the ache in his groin settled down.
Now he watched her as she sat absorbed in reading a script with her mass of hair in a high bun. Though she had on sweats she still looked incredible to him. He had made up his mind this morning that whatever he needed to do to get back into her good graces…and her bed…he would and do it quickly. Now he cleared his throat to get her attention. Sango looked up and couldn't stop the grimace that stole across her face when she saw it was him. Her husband just chuckled lightly before crossing the room to her.
“Gee I can see that you're excited to see me.” He said sarcastically.
“Sorry, it wasn't so much you; this script I'm reading is horrible. I sometimes wonder how anyone can think of producing this crap.”
Miroku nodded understanding her sentiment. “Yes, well if you want to find crap and genius in the same place Hollywood is definitely where you want to be.” She cracked a smile at his observation then turned her head away as she remembered that she was supposed to be mad at him.
“Uh, can I help you with something?”
“As a matter of fact you can. You can help me relax today. I was thinking about going for a ride and thought you'd care to join me.”
She turned her head and narrowed her eyes at him. What was he up too? With a small shake of her head she spoke. “Um no thank you, I really need to finish some work today, otherwise I'll be frazzled tomorrow.”
”I didn't think a woman like you ever got frazzled. Besides the ride won't take long, a couple hours top. Plus it's still early in the day.”
”Yes, but…” Sango faltered in looking for an excuse. She was still upset with him about last night and didn't want to be in his presence until she sorted out the confusing feelings she was having. “I'm so busy, maybe Kohaku will go with you, and he loves those cars of yours.”

Miroku feigned disappointment. “I already asked him, but he flat out refused. He said he wanted to spend the day brushing up on some math. I even tried to bribe him by saying I'd let him drive a couple of blocks. If you ask me that kid is way too serious.”
“He is not.” Sango said defensively. “He just takes his studies very seriously and he wants to be prepared when school starts in two weeks. And I better not find out that you let him drive even two feet much less a block!”
“Calm down, I was just kidding” He laughed at the outraged blood in her cheeks. “I know he's serious…he must get it from his older beautiful sister.” He watched as her blush deepened. “But since he turned me down now you have to go, otherwise my feelings will be hurt that no one wants to play with me.”
“Hidinni…” She said aspiration lacing her voice.
“Great I won't take no for an answer, be ready in ten minutes.”
He turned and started walking away and Sango jumped out of her seat. “Wait! I'm not even dressed.” she said after taking in the pressed Dockers and polo shirt he was wearing.
“You can come like that, or throw on some shorts, were not going anywhere fancy just a drive. You've got 10 minutes so hurry up!” With that he was out the door.
Sango shook her head and looked down at the desk with files and papers all over it. Damn him, he's bossy and arrogant…don't forget charming and handsome. “Oh shut up!” Sango said out loud to her treacherous mind. She shook her head again and started making her way to the door. She might as well go as it was just a drive and she could look out the window and ignore him, besides she'd almost rather be doing anything then continue reading the junk that someone was trying to pass off as a movie.
-----
Miroku smiled in satisfaction as he held the door open to the jag and watched Sango in her leg displaying white shorts and deep green tank-top settle into the seat. As he slid into the other side he gave her another smile and said. “Thank you for coming.” When she just grunted and turned to the window he bit his lip to keep from laughing and kept silent for the drive. He had learned already not to push her to fast or to hard.
Sango was grateful that Hidinni was quiet for once. It gave her time to think about her emotions and as she watched the scenery pass she let her mind debate with itself. She had finally stopped lying to herself and realized that what she'd felt when seeing Jackie Burns draped over her husband was pure and simple jealousy. Sango was confused and dismayed to admit to that emotion. Sango had never been the type to covet what others had. She firmly believed in working to get what one wanted and that's what she spent her life doing. Since she'd always achieved her goals she had no reason to be jealous…and over a man at that!
Well he is your husband…don't you have the right to be jealous?
No! No I don't. I mean it's an arranged marriage…a business contract. I don't have the right to expect him to change his spots overnight…or at all. Rationally I know that I shouldn't be upset, god knows how many women he's had but well I thought…
You thought what? That he viewed you as anything more then a means to his end? Get real Sango and grow up! He may be a lot of things but he's been up front about what this marriage was. And really you can't complain. He has treated you and Kohaku very well. Respectful….
Except for last night
And even a little caring. He's made sure that you and Kohaku have everything you need and want and then some! You have no right to be jealous, after all he gave you what you wanted…Kohaku's life and what can be more important then that? Besides wasn't it just a couple of weeks ago that you were hoping he would go to other women so he wouldn't be in your bed all the time?
Okay you have a point…but well… I didn't know how much I'd like being held in his arms…like his touch. You've got to admit it's been a long time since a man made me feel like a woman.
True his touch is wonderful…why do you have to make this complicated. Can't you just enjoy what he gives when he gives it? You knew this was temporary and you agreed to it. You can't go changing the terms at a drop of the hat just because you want to. It's not fair and it's childish.
Sango frowned but gave a sigh. Yeah you're right. At least he didn't ditch me and go run off with her somewhere. IF he's doing his dirt on the side then at least he's being somewhat discreet about it. I refuse to be made a fool or laughing stock for anyone! I guess I have been overreacting…a little. In name he's my husband…but outside of that…well we're practically strangers. It's not fair for me to turn all cold and icy on him…since he's just being who he is.
Right strangers…why don't you take the time to get to know him…the real him and here's a thought let him get to know the real you! Who knows maybe at least you guys can be friends…that's a lot more then most Hollywood marriages have.
Friends would be a nice place to start. I don't have to let our arrangement be a horrible thing. After all we live together and sleep together, it's no use in my walking around mad over every little silly thing.
Good, now I'm glad that's settled. He was right it's a nice day, so relax and try to enjoy it.
Sango let out a breath she didn't know she was holding as her internal debate came to an end. Catching his eye she gave him a smile “Are we there yet?”
“As a matter of fact we are.”
Sango looked and saw that he had just pulled into a parking space at a park. She turned back to him a little confused. “What are we doing here?”
“Isn't it obvious? We're going to have a picnic.”
------
As Miroku hauled the picnic basket and blanket across the grass he cast suspicious glances his wife's way. He didn't trust her abrupt mood swing. Instead of putting up a fuss about the detour in plans she had thought a picnic sounded great. After setting up the blanket under a tree, they settled in and he was surprised again when she started fixing two plates.
Sango almost dropped the plate when she felt a cool hand on her forehead. Jerking back and letting a surprised laugh escape, she asked. “Miroku what are you doing!” In response his frown deepened and he put his fingertips to the glands under her neck which only made her laugh harder.
“Okay now I know you're sick. You actually called me by my name willingly and your fixing me a plate willingly, and your laughing on your own accord.”
“I'm not sick.” She said and went back to fixing their plates.
“You would say that….especially if you'd been taken over by aliens in the night. While the other Sango could be difficult I'd rather have her back then deal with this nice creature in front of me, it's very creepy.”
She found herself actually giggling as she handed him his plate and sat back against the tree trunk with her own. She couldn't believe how silly they both were acting. “Ugh, now you sound like that script I was reading…cheesy. Is it a crime for me to be nice to you?”
Miroku chewed slowly on pasta salad as he pondered how to answer that. “Hmm, I'll have to check with my lawyers and get back to you on that one.”
Sango gave an indelicate snort and followed it up with a punch to his shoulder that had his eyes widening. “Oh please I've been nice to you before.”
Miroku actually found himself lost for words. He had never seen the relaxed and free side of the woman beside him. He managed to close his mouth and merely hiked and eyebrow at her statement.
At his dubious look she felt a little color invade her cheeks. “What I have! I'm a very nice person.”
“I just bet you are…just usually not to me. So can you blame me for being a little surprised since just last night you were giving me the ice princess routine?”
Sango almost chocked on the lemonade she was drinking out of a cold thermos at his words. Ice Princess? Is that how he thought of her? “I…what….I told you I had a headache.”
He sat his plate down and just looked at her. “Come on we were doing so good…be honest, what did I do last night to ruffle your feathers once again?”
She took her time swallowing her food as she thought how best to answer that. They were doing good, the two of them had never been this playful before and she didn't want to ruin it. “Look today's a wonderful day for a picnic. It's been years since I've taken the time to have one and it put me in a good mood, end of story.”
He took the plate from her hands and sat it down on the blanket before turning her face to his. “Try again.” He said softly.
Sango sighed and decided to tell the truth. After all if she wanted a friendship then she'd have to start with honesty. “Fine, I did get a little upset with you last night. It was silly, I shouldn't have, and after all you can do what you want. I mean it just made me see red that it was in public and she was all over you and you were all over her ugh.”
He held up a hand to stop her babbling as he tried to take in her words. “Let me see if I have this right. You saw red, even though from your words I can do what I want but because I was not only in public but all over her and she was all over me that's what upset you? What she are we talking about?”
She couldn't help the look of disgust that crossed her face as she tossed up her hands. “Jackie Burns! You know the gorgeous talented red head that you were clinging to and kissing all over. Which again I'm not faulting…I'm just saying it was so obvious and out in public….I would think you of all people would want to keep up appearances …” She trailed off as he started laughing like she had said the funniest thing ever.
Miroku saw her feigned indifference turn into true anger and cut off his laughter. “Well I'll agree with you that I had every right to be with Jackie.” He saw the fire leap in her eyes and hurried to continue, even as he felt a strange delight at her anger in his chest. “You were also right in that she's gorgeous and talented….and gay.” He watched as the fire died in her eyes and was replaced by confusion. “The fact that she's a lesbian is a well kept secret and I'll ask that you keep it that way. As you said one must keep up appearances.”
“I….what? I don't understand she….you. You both seemed like you knew each other very well if you get my meaning.”
“That's because we do. Jackie is a very old and dear friend of mine. We went to film school together. I spent the first year trying everything in my considerable power to get her into my bed. While she spent our first year more concerned with trying to best me in all our classes. Through that we became uneasy friends. The last year my ego being what it was I still was trying to get in her pants and she finally told me that she played for the other team….my ego took a hit, but we then became close friends. So that's what you saw last night two friends joking around. I make it a point to needle her sexually whenever I see her and she doesn't mind as it's good for press and she and I both know I have no chance in hell of ever seeing her in her underwear. Besides that dear wife the only underwear I wanted to see last night was yours.” He finished and brushed a wind blown hair from her face.
Sango felt stupid…real stupid. “I'm sorry for overreacting. I would blame it on my feet hurting but that would be a lie. I just…I'm sorry and her secret is safe with me. I just thought you weren't being discreet…”
“Sango.” He waited until she looked at him again. “I would never disgrace either of us that way. Plus I've told you before that I plan to be faithful while our arrangement is valid. It's sort of like tradition. Hidinni men rarely cheat on their wives. Bad karma and it seems to lead to bad luck.” He gave a wry smile and continued. “Maybe that's another reason we hesitate to get married so soon.” It made her smile but he could still see that she didn't quite believe his claim.
“Well I'll try to remember that. Look can we just forget the whole thing since I feel stupid about it? It really is a wonderful day for a picnic lets just enjoy it okay?”
“Whatever you want.”
“Good, because I've been thinking that I'd like us to become friends. Is it a deal?” She held out her hand to him and waited.
Miroku took her slim but capable hand in his and brought it to his lips for a kiss. “It's a deal…that's if this friendship comes with me seeing you in your underwear?” He gave her a perverted grin, as she snatched her hand away and for the second time today giggled like a young girl.
In the same spirit of playfulness she batted her eyes coyly at him and said. “Well everything is negotiable Mr. Hidinni…everything.”
Scene2-New Beginnings-Two weeks later-Wednesday
If Kohaku thought being driven around town was strange then he really thought being dropped off at school was odd. That was until he pulled into the circular drive of the private school and soon realized that he wasn't the only one with a personal ride. All kinds of expensive cars lined the drive as kids jumped out. Kohaku took a deep breath and reached for the handle of the door.
“Have a good day Master Kohaku.”
“Cut it out George and thanks.”
George gave the nervous young man a smile of encouragement. “I will be waiting in the receiving lot at 2:30 young master.” Kohaku nodded with a grimace on his face and closed the door. He'd be lucky if he could find home room much less the receiving lot as George put it. He had received his schedule in the mail last week with a list of the school rules and policies. With another heavy sigh of a prisoner walking their last mile he squared his shoulders clutched his laptop under his arm and entered the high school.
---------
By third period Kohaku realized that this high school wasn't so different then his old one. He easily picked out the nervous freshmen and reminded himself not to act like one. This school had clicks just like every other school. For a private rich school it wasn't so bad though. They had a dress code but no uniforms and while the classroom's behavior was a little more tame that was to be expected on the first day of school.
Of course he hated the beginning of every class where he was forced to introduce himself. Something that was different from his old school was that a “name” meant everything here. In some classes his last name was familiar to people as the brother of the woman who had married Hidinni. Once that was known he found people were a little more friendly as he re-took his seat. So by the time lunch came he had actually been invited to hang with a couple of guys under a palm tree outside in the yard.
He also realized that kids here spent most of the lunch hour gossiping instead of eating. He was a little envious as he watched old friends catch up with each other during the break. He said an early fare well to his new buddies and headed back towards the school so he'd have more time to find his next class when he heard his name called.
“Kohaku over here!” He whipped around, a huge smile on his face to see Rin standing to his left. He immediately made his way over noticing she was surrounded by three very pretty girls. All of them had on mini skirts and halters while jewelry flashed from their ears, neck and fingers.
“Uh, hey Rin.” He managed before she gave him a short hug and started talking. He was too happy to see someone he knew to feel embarrassed about the brief embrace.
“There you are I've been looking for you all morning! Geez you really need to get a cell phone! Have you met my friends? Of course you haven't. This is Heather Criuse, this is Danielle Washington, and this here is Cassie Pitt. Ignore her she has an attitude today.”
She continued talking but he tuned her out as he got his first look at the friends he'd heard about all summer. Heather as he'd been told was the youngest daughter of Tom Criuse. She was a very developed blond with long hair, and a bored expression on her face. She was wearing a pair of the longest earrings he had ever seen, they dangled all the way to her chest, and he briefly wondered why her ears didn't sag. She had on a lime green skirt with a pink top. Her only other piece of jewelry was a platinum silver chain. Heather was Rin's best friend, who from what Rin said went through boyfriends like water. So he made a mental note to start out on the right foot with her.
Danielle Washington was Denzel's Washington's oldest daughter. She had smooth chocolate skin and gave him an easy smile which he shyly returned. She was the most understated of the group, with a navy blue mini and a white tank that had “daddy's girl” written across the chest in the same color of the skirt. Her earrings were modest as were the necklace and two rings and one ankle bracelet she wore. Rin said she was smart and the most level-headed one of the group, she was Rin's second best friend.
Cassie Pitt, was petite, not as petite as Rin, but only two inches taller and she was very slim. She had a sullen pout on her ruby red lips that Kohaku thought clashed with her brunette hair. She was jewelried out to the max. Three rings on each hand, bangles on her wrist, clunky earrings and a silver belt around her hot pink skirt. Rin had told him that she was moody and spoiled; he'd have to watch his step with her.
Last but not least Rin rounded out the click. She wore her never ending smile as she babbled on. She was outfitted in a loud yellow skirt and a red top that matched her hair. The get up made her bright personality stand out even more. She wore a custom jewerly ring on every finger and he found his self getting dizzy as she waved her hands around and the sun glinted off them. Her earrings were big bright yellow simple hoops that dominated her slim face, while the mini showed off her legs nicely…not that he was looking. Kohaku would never admit to them but over all he thought they looked ridiculous. He vaguely remembered Rin mentioning that the in style right now was retro 80's fashion.
“So anyway, I'm so glad you finally met them, how's your first day of school going?”
Kohaku snapped back as he realized a question was directed at him. “Uh, hi everyone.” He finally got out. “It's been going okay so far.”
“Rin you didn't mention that he was so cute, especially for a sophomore.” Danielle teased making him blush.
Heather narrowed her eyes at him then a slow smirk appeared. “Yeah Rin you better not let Shippo find out you've been talking to this cuttie.”
“Who cares what he thinks. It's not Kohaku's fault, he's cute.” Cassie said as she leaned on the stone steps still pouting.
Rin shook her head at all her friends. “Guys knock it off. Ignore Cassie, she's mad her parents would get her the Donna Karen sweater she wanted.”
Kohaku's mind wasn't on Cassie's mood but on her words. “Who's Shippo?” His question brought huge grins to Danielle's and Heather's face as they gave Rin a sly grin, who in turn frowned.
“You're about to find out, here he comes.” Heather said, tossing her hair out of the way and settling next to Cassie to watch the show.
Kohaku turned and watched as three guys with letter jackets swaggered over to them. They were all taller than him and he knew at once they were in Rin's class or seniors. As they reached the group the tallest dropped his arm around Rin's shoulder and he watched as a blush stained her cheeks.
“What's up babe?” Shippo asked as he ran his eyes over Kohaku and dismissed him as a threat.
“Hi Shippo.” Rin said feeling a little twitch in her stomach as she hurried to make introductions. “Um Shippo this is Kohaku, you remember me telling you about him right? And Kohaku this is Shippo…my boyfriend.”
Kohaku couldn't stop his eyes from widening as he took in the guy Rin claimed as her boyfriend. He had to admit they made a good couple, both of them with their flowing red hair. Rin with her bright happy aura and Shippo with his careless jock mannerism that screamed confidence. Why had Rin never mentioned him before? He frowned as he tried to figure that out until a sharp slap on his shoulder from the guy in question brought him back to the hear and now.
“Oh hey what's up dude? You're Rin's little new friend she's been telling me about. My Rin's a sucker for lost causes; if she could she'd pick up every stray she came across. Hey glad to see your doing better.” Shippo said grinning, as Rin gave a small gasp.
“Hey.” Kohaku mumbled willing his self not to blush at the unflattering comment of being referred to as “stray” like he was some lost pet.
“Kohaku's sister married Miroku Hidinni, that's why he's at our school.” Danielle moved a little closer to Kohaku's right side and spoke before Rin could say anything.
“The production dude? Yeah I think I've heard of him.”
“Get off it Shippo. You've heard of him, he's only the biggest producer in town. Why wasn't it last year you were telling us that your dad's accounting firm would kill to have their accounts?” Heather said as she came back to the group to flank Kohaku's other side.
“I don't remember.” Shippo said narrowing his eyes at Heather.
Kohaku shrugged as if it didn't matter. “Well it was nice meeting you all, I better head in and find my next class.”
“What do you have next?” Rin asked giving a bright smile she didn't feel.
“Umm, I think it's calculus.” He mumbled avoiding her eyes.
“Really? That's a junior's class.” Danielle said clearly impressed.
“I told you guys he was smart.” Rin said beaming this time for real.
“It's no big deal, math is just my good subject.” Kohaku said blushing despite himself at her praise.
“Math sucks.” Shippo said frowning. “Who needs it? I'll have all my dad's friends take care of my finances when I'm rich on my own.” Everyone ignored his attempt at a joke and Rin slipped out from under his arm and stepped towards Kohaku.
“Who do you have? I have cal class next too, but a couple of people teach it.”
Kohaku fumbled with the crumpled up schedule in his pocket and peered down at it. “It says a Misses Hines room 311.”
If it was possible Rin's face lit up even more. “You're kidding that's who I have too. This is so neat I didn't expect to have any classes with you. Come on I'll show you where it's at.” Rin grabbed Kohaku's arm and her friends fell in around her as they started off.
“Hey wait up Rin! We still have ten minutes before lunch is over.”
“Sorry Shippo. I'll see you later!” She called over her shoulder with a sunny wave.
“Yeah later Shippo.” Heather called out giving him a smirk as she hooked her arm through Kohaku's other side.
It didn't go unnoticed that the new guy was getting a personal escort by four of the most popular girls in the school.
Scene3-Clearing the air-Thursday
Wolfe was getting on Kagome's last nerve, and that was a dangerous thing to do. She'd been at the edge of her temper for the last two weeks and today she was barely hanging on.
“Look Mira I'm not getting what I need from you today. This scene calls for you to be the mild mannered unassuming rich lady, not the secret Rambo guardian of a ancient jewel. All I'm getting from you today is fire when I need cool haughty ice. So take a couple minuets and refocus. Everyone take five and we'll try it again.”
Kagome clenched her teeth and went over and flopped into a chair. It was all she could do to keep from screaming at the director that her name was Kagome not Mira. For some reason she couldn't name she detested being called by another name all day every day for weeks on end. Sometimes at the end of the day she would be surprised when someone would call her by her actual given name. It was like this character was taking over her identity and right now she was confused enough as it was. Luckily this week she and Inuyasha hadn't had many scenes together otherwise she would have lost it. The director was right she was all fire….cause she was mad as hell. He was wisely keeping his distance from her while she on the other hand used every opportunity she got to slid in an unflattering comment about him or say something smart in his direction.
So far he hadn't been stupid enough to bite back. She was waiting on him to do so, so she could tare him apart. She wanted to shred him to pieces if only verbally. The thing that made it worse was she couldn't figure out if she was madder at him or herself. She had known his personality…had known his reputation and still she had allowed herself to fall into his lap….into his bed. Damn it she was such a fool.
“Alright everyone lets give it another try, places!”
Kagome snapped out of her thoughts and cursed in her head, instead of spending the time refocusing she'd done nothing but think about the same things that were agitating her in the first place. Sighing she got up and took her place.
“Action!”
Kagome went through the lines as she tried to play the part of Mira talking to one of the bad guys. Trying to convince him that she knew nothing about the jewel's fabled past.
“Cut! No, no it's all wrong.”
Kagome was only halfway through the scene and stopped surprised. “What? I thought I was better that time.”
“No, you were less angry but your defiance came through loud and clear. Look this and two other scenes I wanted to shoot today have you in them. It's apparent that you're off your mark today, so we'll call it a day. It's early just in time for dinner, so I suggest everyone thank Mira because today you might get to eat an actual meal at home. It's a rap.” Pointing a finger at Kagome he went on. “You, Mira take tonight and rest….make up with your boyfriend or what ever the hell has your panties in a bunch. I'll expect better from you tomorrow.” Voice filled with disgust the director got up and started walking away with the rest of the cast and production as they closed down for the night. It was barely 6pm.
Kagome stood there with her mouth hanging open as people walked around her preparing to leave. She didn't even acknowledge the genuine but smart remarks of “thanks” she was getting from the crew for causing an early break. She couldn't believe what the director had said to her and in a loud whisper she said. “The name is Kagome you jackass. If your going to insult me at least use my damn name.” She blew her hair out of her face and stalked to her trailer to get undressed. She knew her acting had been off and knowing that it was her fault just made her feel worse. Maybe she'd take the directors advice after all. She'd go home, rest and get it together. Twenty minutes later she heard the knock on her trailer door and assumed it was the costume dept asking for her wardrobe back. “Come in, it's hanging on the side of the door.”
“I'm not wardrobe.”
“Inuyasha what do you want. Isn't it obvious that I'm not in the mood today.” She asked refusing to even look his way.
“Yeah I could plainly see that as could everyone else.” He had his hands in his pockets and a frown on his face. He didn't like seeing her this upset. Didn't like that fact that he knew it was her anger over him causing her to mess up professionally. Seeing her like this was enough to push his own unanswered anger aside.
“Yeah thanks for pointing that out, now get out.” Kagome continued to viciously yank the brush through her long black hair, anything to stop her from throwing it at him.
“Look…I uh, thought we could go get some dinner and talk.”
Kagome let the brush fall with a clank to her dresser as she turned to look at him. “Are you crazy? Just why in the hell do you think I'd have dinner with you?”
“Well, as Wolfe pointed out it is dinner time, you have to eat…why not with me. A second reason would be because it's obvious that you and I need to talk. Why not over food in a public place?” He shrugged and gave her a boyish smile.
“I would rather eat dirt with a pig then eat a meal with you right now. Now get out of my dressing room before I throw you out.” She delivered her speech through clenched teeth as she stood up.
Inuyasha narrowed his eyes and his posture was no longer relaxed and uncaring. He let some of his own anger come through as he took a couple of steps towards her. “Sweetheart I would like to see you try. Now look here, it's obvious that you and I have things to discuss, things that are interfering with your work and therefore my work on this movie. I don't mind you being pissed at me because if you want to know the truth I'm pissed at you to. But when it starts interfering with the job then it's time to do something about it. Now we can go to dinner and try to have a semi rational adult conversation and come to some kind of understanding or we can act uncouth like your always accusing me of and yell it out right here. That is if you want everyone on the set to know our business….which if you keep acting the way you've been they'll figure it out soon anyway. So is it going to be your way or my way?”
As Kagome stood there glaring at him fists balled at her side she would have preferred to knock him silly with a heavy object. She had never thought of herself as a violent person until she'd met him. But right now she would love to knock his block off. She hated to admit it but the jack ass had a couple of points. If the set didn't already know they were involved then they would if they got into a detailed shouting match in her trailer. And maybe it would be best if she gave him a piece of her mind and got it off her chest, maybe then she could concentrate on her role. Lips turning up into a sneer of a smile, she unclenched her fists and snatched up her purse. Stalking past him to the door she threw over her shoulder. “Fine, I'm driving separately, I choose the place and you're buying.”
-------
Kagome picked Spargo's as her place of battle for several reasons. One, it was the actors mecca on dinning where one came to see and be seen. It was upscale but not uptight and stale like so many places in Hollywood. There was a very relaxed atmosphere here where stars usually came with their friends or business associates that they actually liked. She hoped the venue would prevent her from throwing her plate in Inuyasha's face. Second it was one of the most expensive places in town, she planned to make him pay literally. Third the place had secluded dinning areas where their talk could be kept private and out of gossiping ears. She didn't feel like reading her own drama in the papers tomorrow.
The pair nodded their way to their curtained off plush booth and promptly ordered, they had both dined here many times. As the waiter left Inuyasha gave her a look of disbelief.
“You do know you just order two main courses right?”
“Yes I know, and one appetizer and two desserts.” She smiled happily causing him to scowl at her.
“How the hell do you even know you'll want dessert after eating all that?”
“Oh I will, trust me I will.”
“Bullshit. You don't think I know that women like you watch your weight religiously? There's no way you'll eat all that.”
“That shows how little you know about me, I have a high metabolism and can eat anything I want. With all the extra exercise I get on the set I've actually been losing pounds, so I can eat to my hearts content. So I'll remind you again not to make assumptions about me.”
Inuyasha leaned across the table and gave her a piercing stare. “And I've told you to stop acting like you know what goes on in my head. You don't know shit about me either except what I let you see.”
“I think I know all there is to know about you, your scum and an arrogant bastard.”
“I'll have you know my mother and father are unhappily married so I'm not a bastard, I'm their only son.”
“Pity for them….not about the marriage but that you're their only son.”
He wryly smirked as he played with his glass of wine. “Yeah I'm sure they'd agree with you.”
Kagome kept silent as she saw the brief sadness reflected in his gaze. She hadn't meant to hurt him like that. Clearing her throat she grabbed her purse and went to stand up. “This was a mistake I should go.”
“No no, sit down we were finally getting somewhere.” She saw that his arrogant demeanor was back and stayed in her seat. “Good, now why don't you cut the injured party act and tell me what I did to get your bitchiness up in the first place.”
“Hmm, could it be things like calling me a bitch right now, and your hoe and tramp the other night at the ball.”
“Whoa, wait a minute.” Inuyasha said throwing his hands up, they was interrupted anyway as the waiter came carryings their appetizer of delicious smelling garlic bread, topped with cheese and herbs accompanied by an family kept secret marinara sauce. He waited until the waiter was out of hearing distance and noticed that both he and Kagome were already absentmindedly grabbing at the bread. “Now I didn't call you any of those things. The way I just used “bitchiness” was an adjective to describe in my opinion your recent actions, I didn't use it as a noun which would have been calling you a bitch. Those other two words.” He took a bite of bread and closed his eyes in bliss as he waved his hand in the air dismissively. “Are all made up in that pretty little head of yours. That's not what I was implying at the ball. Maybe you should stop making assumptions on what I think.”
He watched her expression of surprise as she dropped a chewy piece of cheese in her mouth. “What are you surprised I knew an adjective from a noun?” He asked as he grabbed another piece of bread. “Feh, I went to college you know…the old man wouldn't have it any other way.”
“Yeah, I am a little surprised, and stop eating my bread.”
“Shit I'm paying for it.”
“And? Look how can you think I wouldn't take your actions and words as labeling me your new playmate of the week?” Kagome lowered her voice as she angrily ripped a piece of bread in half. “We slept together three fantastic times, you leave a note on my damn pillow, you then ignore the whole subject for a week, treating me with polite indifference then you proposition me in public with hundreds of people around. Tell me how that doesn't equate to you calling me a hoe and tramp?” She asked forgetting etiquette and licking the yummy sauce angrily off her fingers. For a few seconds he stared intently at her mouth before his eyes found hers. Her cheeks heated in a blush as they both knew the other was thinking about that night and the things her mouth had licked. She hastily covered her hands with a napkin and glared daggers at him to dispel the sexual tension. “Well what do you have to say for yourself now?”
“You thought I was fantastic huh?” When her hand inched its way to the sauce bowl he lost his cocky grin. “Don't do it Kagome.”
“Your right it would be a waste of great sauce if it landed on you.”
He was about to retort back when he was again interrupted by the waiter wheeling in their food. They were both quiet as the waiter set the food about and refilled their wine glasses. When he left Inuyasha stared at the three entree's and two desserts that filled the table. Shaking his head and giving a disgusted sigh he cut into his steak before glancing back up at her. “Okay you've talked now I want you to listen. Look I'm sorry about the right after stuff. You were sleep and I…shit didn't know how to handle it. After all we were not on the best of terms. I had no clue if when you woke up there'd be a shouting match or weepy regret. I uh…thought what we did was pretty fantastic too and didn't want to ruin it with either of those scenes.” He held up a hand when she started to speak and pointed to her lobster “Eat and let me talk. You're right I could have brought it up on the set or even called, but I'll admit I was still unsure on where we stood and figured you'd make a move. It's obvious now I figured wrong. By the time the ball rolled around I was horny as hell for you and couldn't take it anymore. When I saw you in the crowd I snuck off, ran up the street and booked the room. It wasn't planned, if you remember I told you I was surprised to see you there and I was.
“Why did you have to make it sound so cheap?” She got in before he could stop her as she avoided his eyes and played with her food.
“Damn it that wasn't what I was trying to do. I had no way of knowing if you'd even be game but I figured fuck it and gave it a try. I was trying to protect you idiot.” When her surprised eyes jerked up he nodded his head. “Yeah that's right, me the ultimate playboy I was trying to do the honorable thing. You should have a clue as to how many reporters hang around events like that waiting out in the bushes to overhear a conversation. Lurking in the bathrooms waiting to see which big stars take a piss together, what they talk about so it can frontline the next day.”
Kagome sputtered out some salad she'd just chewed as a laugh bubbled forth. Inuyasha graced her with a grin for her effort. “What, you know it's the truth. Anyway it wasn't that I was ashamed of you or something but there was no way I could have got in a cab with you. Ever since that stupid magazine printed that crap a couple months ago, I've had press following me to the gas station and everywhere in between.”
“Ah, you mean the article about you being the sexiest man alive?”
“Yeah that crap and stop interrupting and eat some of the mess you ordered. Anyway I figured no one would know the difference if we left at different times then met up. I didn't know that you would take it the way you did. I …guess it wasn't fantastic enough for you to want a repeat….so uh it's cool.” Now it was Inuyasha's turn to avoid eye contact.
Kagome ate and let the silence settle around them as she tried to gather her thoughts. She could end this trouble in the making now by telling him she didn't want him or she could give in and continue to enjoy the best sex she'd had in her entire life. As the seconds ticked by she saw him begin to fidget and had to bite her lip to keep her laugh in. The “sexist man alive” was nervous.
“Well are you going to say something?” He had meant to wait her out but didn't make it.
“I never said I didn't want you again.” She said quietly looking up at him.
“Actually I think you did say something like that. There might have even been something about hell freezing over in there too.”
“Probably, but that was if you were trying to treat me like your new bimbo. I see now that you were just trying to be nice for a change, in your own idiotic way.”
“So does that mean I should get another room?”
“No…I don't know what it means. I'm not sure this will work while we're on the same project. I've never been this out of focus before on a shoot for this long. I can't have whatever we do affect the movie and neither can you.”
“I agree, believe it or not I've never slept with a co-star before while shooting.” Kagome just frowned her disbelief and he chuckled before clarifying. “Okay…let me re-phrase. I've never slept with my leading lady before while filming. After, yes, before a project yes, minor actresses of a movie yes, but never the person who our interaction made the film. I told you before I'm a professional when it comes to my work. This is new area for me to. I have to say though I think this time it might be worth it to find a way to work around it, because if you expect me to wait for the end of the shooting to get you underneath me again then your crazier then I thought.”
“You have a way with words.” She said dryly even as she felt her body tighten at his statement. “I don't know though, hotels, sneaking around… it doesn't do it for me. It makes it seems dirty to me and I'm not comfortable with that.”
“Okay fine I hear what you're saying. But it has to be that way unless you want your name linked with mine…which you've made clear you don't. Tell you what, we'll do it your way anyway you want it. It will be on your terms. I know I'll regret saying this but all I know is I have to have you. I haven't thought about another woman since I had you pinned to the wall with my-.”
“Uh hmm,” She cut him off blushing as the image instantly appeared in her head.
“Well you get my drift, it's the truth. So since I'm tired of being driven insane by my hormones we'll do it however you like, wherever you like, whenever you like. You just let me know when and I'll be there, does that suit you?”
Kagome let the smile play around her lips. She was surprised and pleased that he wasn't pushing and was giving her time to figure it out. “Yeah that works fine for me….thank you.” They smiled stupidly at each for a moment or two then Kagome begin to eat in earnest. The rest of the meal passed peacefully as they talked about the movie and upcoming scenes. When the waiter next came to ask if there was anything else he could get them, Inuyasha said the check.
“Oh, I'm stuffed, I can't eat anymore.” Kagome said pushing back her plate with delighted disgust. Though he had left their sexual fate in Kagome's hands he had high hopes that they'd be going somewhere together to “work” off the meal.
“What you barely ate anything!” She had eaten a little off of one plate and a little off of the other and half of one dessert. Come to think of it she had her fork over in his plate too. The waiter came and slipped them the check along with wishing them a good evening. Inuyasha glanced at it then scowled over at Kagome. “Are you happy now? This damn meal that you didn't eat was three hundred dollars.”
“Why yes I am. Thank you for a wonderful dinner. I think it was just want I needed. Now I think I'll go home and get in bed.” She smiled and stood up.
“What? No you're going to sit here and eat your expensive meal.”
“Nope, I'm going home and getting in bed.”
Inuyasha was about to argue some more when her words penetrated his brain. Home…bed….Kagome. “Ah, I guess that is a better idea, let me pay for this and I'll follow you. I mean I'd love some more of that coffee…you gave me last time.”
Kagome just laughed as she took a step away from him. “Funny I'm pretty sure we never got around to having coffee. No Inuyasha I'm going home alone. You didn't really think you'd have your cake and eat it too did you?” At his crestfallen look she just laughed some more and wiggled her fingers good bye at him. “See ya tomorrow.”
Inuyasha let her walk away as he clenched the check in his hand. “Lousy three hundred dollar meal and all I get is heartburn…damn.”
Scene4-Flash from the Past-A week later*
(Thursday Evening)
Sango sighed as she made her way down the steps for dinner. The last week had been a trying one where Kohaku was concerned. His health was fine and his once a week visit to the doctors showed that it was steadily improving. No it was Kohaku's attitude that had taken a turn for the worse this last week. She could tell something was bothering but whenever she asked he would get defensive or shrug her off. Last night had been the worst.
Sango had watched as Kohaku whose appetite had gotten back to normal picked at his food on his plate. It was a rare thing for a weekday but both she and Miroku were home in time for dinner, now all three of them sat around the table quietly eating.
“Kohaku are you sure you're feeling okay?”
“Yep fine.”
She frowned at his clipped two word answer and tried again. “Are you positive? If not we should call the doc-“
“I said I feel fine, I'm not two. I think I should know when I feel ill or not.” He raised his eyes long enough to throw her a sullen look.
Sango sat back in her chair surprised that he'd snapped at her. She glanced across the table and saw that Miroku had raised a eyebrow but said nothing. She cleared her throat and tried again. “Okay, well is it school? Are you fitting in there okay?”
He shrugged then dropped his fork and leaned back in the expensive dinning chair. “Yeah school is cool. I've made a couple of friends already. I told you it's not so different from my old school.”
“Good!” Sango smiled relieved that school wasn't that much of an adjustment for him. “I'm glad. You know if you're missing your old friends or something you can always have them over some weekend. I'll go pick them up and you guys can-“ She was cut off as her brother violently pushed away from the table and stood up.
“Give it a rest will you. What are you trying to set up play dates for me now? Geez, I don't need your help in my social life just leave me alone.” With that angry announcement he turned and stomped out the room.
Sango sat shell shocked, before slowly getting to her feet to go after him. “Let him go cool down.” Miroku said quietly. “Sit, drink your wine.” Sango hesitated then flopped back down to her chair, taking his advice and gulping down her wine.
“I don't understand, what did I say?” Sango was hurt by her brother's unwarranted attack. It hurt her even more that she didn't know how to help him.
“Well if I remember correctly at his age they don't need a reason to attack. Teenagers are kinda like wild beasts. They may look sweet and cuddly on the outside but you have to watch your every step with them.”
Sango laughed out loud and she was thankful for Miroku's presence to help ease her mind. “Yeah I suppose your right. Thanks for reminding me.”
“Uh, I could talk to him if you like.” Her husband suggested tentatively.
“Thanks but it's okay it's not your problem.”
Kohaku had stayed in his room the rest of the night and Sango had let him. Now as she made her way to dinner she prayed they wouldn't have a repeat of last night. She was passing the study and stopped as she noticed Miroku and Kohaku inside.
-----
Kohaku had brought his play station down and hooked it up do the wide screen Miroku used to screen some movie clips so he could better see the action. Miroku didn't seem to mind as he finished up some work. He knew he'd been acting like an real ass lately but couldn't seem to help it. He felt really bad about blowing up at his sister last night. He'd seen the hurt in her eyes before he'd stormed away. He had an issue…but there were some thing you couldn't talk to your sister about and even more things that she couldn't “fix” for you. Besides she'd done so much for him, he was tired of her feeling as if she had to solve everything in his life. As his thoughts wandered so did his attention to the game and the big letters saying YOU LOSE were soon flashing on the screen. In agitation he threw the control on the floor.
“This game sucks.”
Miroku glanced over then tossed the papers he was reviewing to stroll over to the young man. “In case you haven't noticed it's just a game no need to get so upset about it.” He tried to sound causal so he didn't set the boy off. He didn't mind the attitude himself but he didn't like the fact that it was hurting his wife. His ploy didn't work for Kohaku jumped up and started to walk past him.
“Yeah whatever, isn't it time for dinner.”
“Kohaku.” He didn't touch him but his tone of voice was enough to stop him in his tracks. “Come here for a minute.”
Kohaku slowly turned and figured he was in for it now. Not once had Miroku yelled at him but then again he'd never used that voice on him either…until now. He tried to look unaffected as he walked back and shrugged. “Yeah what now?”
“Look your sister didn't want me to interfere and usually I wouldn't. Attitude usually bounces right off of me…after all I deal with actors and agents everyday who make your fits look like child's play. However, your actions are hurting your sister…for no reason that I can see and that I can't allow. Now would you like to share why you've been so pissy lately or would you rather continue to sulk around?”
“I didn't mean to hurt Sango's feelings.” Kohaku mumbled looking anywhere but at Miroku.
“Yeah but you did anyway.” When the boy just looked miserable and didn't answer Miroku sighed and ran his hand over his pulled back hair. “Let me guess…it's about a girl.”
Kohaku head jerked up in surprise. “Yeah, how'd you know?”
Miroku just smiled. “A wise man knows that all “men” problems have something to do with a woman. So how bad is it?”
“I, uh. It's nothing really…it's kind of stupid.” He found himself talking where with his sister he could not. “It's Rin…she uh has this boyfriend….that she never told me about.”
“Ahhh, Rin…your friend”
“See that's the thing.” Kohaku said blushing. “She is just a friend. Her boyfriend just gets on my nerves he's this arrogant junior and a jock. He's so stupid and I just think Rin can do better. None of her friends like him either. Plus he's always a smart ass when he talks to me.”
Miroku tried to hide his grin as he nodded his head in understanding. “I see….why do you think he's always being a “smart ass” to you?”
“I don't know, just because he's a jerk.”
“Probably…or maybe he's jealous of you.”
“What?” Kohaku blushed more. “Why would he be? I'm only a sophomore and I'm certainly not a jock, he has nothing to be jealous of.”
“Maybe…he's jealous because his girlfriend spent a lot of her spare time this summer with you or maybe because you're smart and he's not. Probably because he knows Rin would rather like a smart guy then a jock.”
“Rin…wouldn't….like me like that….would she?”
“Why not? Friendship is the first step to romance. Frankly as much as you guys talked this summer I have to think she likes you as more than a friend. Back in my day a teenage girl didn't waste that much time on a guy especially in the summer unless she liked him.”
“Maybe…you're right.” Kohaku said, a real smile lighting his face for the first time all week.
“Maybe I am, Question is….do you want her to like you?”
“I don't know.” He said sheepishly, causing Miroku to laugh out loud.
“You know…just admit it.”
“Rin…Rin, wouldn't go for me, I'm to skinny and younger then her. She's one of the most popular girls in her class.”
“Have more faith then that. The odds never stopped me from trying to get a girl. Besides you already have one foot in the door. Tell you what I'll check with your doctor and see if you can start some light weight lifting. If so, you can work out with me and I'll show you the ropes.”
“Hey that's cool…thanks.”
Miroku noticed the light in the boys eyes and was glad that he'd stepped in. “Well I'm glad that's settled. Can I assume you'll lay off your sister for a while now?”
“Yeah, I was just taking my anger out on her…I'll apologize”
“Good, I'm sure that will cheer her up.” He slung an arm around the teens shoulder. “Come on lets head for dinner.
-----
Sango hid behind a marble statue as the two males in her life walked out and headed down the hall. Her heart was beating fast and she wasn't sure why…seeing them together…was that a little pang of envy? After all, here was a part of Kohaku's life that he didn't want her help with, his love life. Where she had failed Miroku had succeeded…quite easily. Yeah, she did feel a little envy but there was something else to in her heart. Could it be happiness that Miroku would take her little brother under his wing like that? It was so sweet that he had offered to do manly things like lift weights with Kohaku. She wasn't a guy but she knew how much the offer of being treated like an equal meant to Kohaku. It was a boost to his budding male ego that she would have never been able to give.
In the three weeks since their “picnic” her and her husband had made good strides on becoming friends. He shared their bed every night now even when they didn't have sex. The time they spent before going to bed was often spent talking. From business to what they had for lunch and everything in-between. She found those times the nicest. So now she knew his favorite color was black and that he was a boy scout when he was little. The best secret she'd leaned about him was that he was very playful. It wasn't unusual for him to call her before the work day was out with some silly comment that made her laugh out loud and eased the tension in her shoulders. He had even popped up a couple of times to make sure she didn't over work and came home at a decent hour.
She was finding out that her playboy, hotshot Hollywood producer husband was a nice guy….and she liked it. She actually looked forward to coming home for more reasons then just seeing Kohaku now. Of course the steamy nights spent underneath him…on top of him, didn't hurt either. She couldn't stop the smile or the heat that came to her face as she stepped from behind her cover. Now she knew one other thing about him…he was good at handling teen age boys. She'd agreed with everything he'd said except for one thing. Friendship didn't have to lead to romance….after all look at them? They had an agreement and to make things easier on everyone a friendship. There would be no messy concepts like love and romance to get in the ways. Nope love was not part of the terms.
--------
Friday afternoon
Miroku smiled and shook hands then happily closed the door as the last person from the board meeting left. Waiting a couple of minutes to make sure they'd cleared the hall, he quickly went to his office and told Rachael he didn't want to be disturbed for the next hour. He was glad to be away from all the number crunching and the suck-ups trying to get on his good side and advance, he needed a minute to wind down before he settled down to do some work. He'd already called Sango and told her he'd most likely miss dinner tonight because he wanted to try to get ahead on this new proposal he was working on. He regretted that since it had been very nice for all three of them to have dinner together these last couple of days.
Looking out his window once again, he smiled as he remembered how pleased Sango had been when Kohaku had apologized to her last night. He felt good knowing that he'd had a part in putting that smile on her face. It had been a long time since he'd had just a “female” friend. To tell the truth except for Jackie he didn't have any. He loved women…but they tended not to be “friendly” when he decided to take another woman to bed instead. Luckily he knew how to smooth ruffled feathers so while he was on good terms with most of his past lovers he couldn't call any of them a real friend. It felt odd but very nice to call Sango his wife and his friend.
Yes she was his friend with benefits and what a package he got. He didn't think he'd be able to fall asleep if he wasn't holding her plush body besides him. Why he even found his self doing the silliest things just to hear her laugh. He thought about her at the oddest times…worried about her. Was she eating? Maybe not so he sent her lunch. Was she depressed about Kohaku…yes so I'll fix it. He had no doubt she could feed herself and take care of her brother, she'd done it for years without him. However he found his self wanting to take care of her. Wanting to fix any wrongs in her life. He should have been bothered by his increasing emotional attachment to her, but he chalked it up to their friendship. It was okay to worry and care for a friend…yep it was normal and okay.
He told himself this as he sighed in resignation and sat back at his desk. Pushing the distracting thought of his wife out of his head he took off his suit coat, rolled up the sleeves of his hundred dollar dress shirt and got down to work. If he was lucky he'd get home by nine.
------
The woman in the tailored Chenille business suit fit in with the trendy young executives who road the elevator with her. Even so some how she managed to stand apart from everyone. She got more then a few stares from the men but not one tired to speak to her. They could tell she was out of their league. She was a hard hitter, take no prisoners type of woman…and she had to be. She was a broker for the New York stock exchange. It was a super paced environment where having cunning was better then having luck. You either learned to keep up with the flow or got stepped on literally.
She had flown in Wednesday night and had endured being under her childhood roof again. Had endured the tedious dinner with her mother and father, the first being tipsy before they'd sat down for appetizers. If she had her way….and she usually did, she wouldn't be going home tonight. She had made this trip mainly for business but hoped to get some pleasure along the way. She was going to see an old friend with a proposition she hoped he couldn't refuse. If he bit the hook he would help take her career to a whole new level.
Somewhat impatiently she glanced up and noticed that she still had two floors to go. Smirking she wasn't surprised that Miroku would have his office at the top of the empire he'd built. After all didn't kings like to sit on top? It was that kind of thinking that caused her to admire him. There was nothing sexier to her then a business man. Correction a successful, powerful business man. Reaching her floor she squared her shoulder and prepared to go face such a man.
-----------
Rachel was about to call it a day as it was going on 6:30 and while she knew her boss would be here a few hours more that didn't mean she needed to stay. She had already turned off her computer and was about to buzz the boss that she was leaving when the smart click of heels on the hallway tile made her look up.
“Ah, Rachel isn't it? You still work here? Interesting…I'm here to see Miroku no need to buzz me ahead.”
Rachel was too much of a professional to let the irritation of the sarcastic tone or high handedness show on her face. “Miss, it's after hours Mr. Hidinni can not be disturbed, would you care to make an appointment for another time?”
“Why surely you recognize me, you're not old enough to be losing your memory…yet. I'm sure Miroku won't mind an old friend dropping in.”
Rachel gritted her teeth and stood ignoring the dig about the 10 year age difference. “I'm sorry Miss it seems you have the advantage in remembering me….I don't remember you. Regardless Mr. Hidinni is not taking visitors. If you insist on seeing him please make an appointment.” Rachel remembered damn well who she was. She hadn't liked her then and she didn't like her now.
“Well I do insist on seeing him but I won't be making any appointments.” She'd be damned if she let some little secretary who thought she mattered because she'd slept with the boss stand in the way of her plans. “I'll just see myself in.”
“No you will not.” Rachel was stepping around her desk as the woman moved forward and had every intention of grabbing her by the arm when the door in question opened.
“What's all this racket out here Rachel? I thought everyone was gone but us. Kikyo? Is that you?” Miroku took in the instant smile on Kikyo's face and the deep frown on Rachel's and put two and two together. “It's okay Rachel. Why don't you head on home, I'll be doing so myself after I catch up with Kikyo here.”
“Of course. Have a good evening Mr. Hidinni.” Without another word she went around the desk, retrieved her purse and left. She knew Miroku was a big boy and he could handle a shark like Kikyo with ease.
-------
“Kikyo Dean…what a pleasure and a surprise please come in.” Miroku ushered his childhood neighbor and at one time adult lover inside. “What brings you by and don't try you were just in the neighborhood routine.”
She laughed as ignoring the seat she went to stare out his huge office window. She always thought better on her feet. “I wouldn't dream of using that line on you. Business of course.”
Miroku choose to sit in his chair but did turn it to face his guest. “And what business would we have?” He said in a mildly interested voice.
Now Kikyo turned and gave him a secretive smile. “You have wonderful view here…at the top, that's where I want to be…and you can help me do that.”
“How so?”
“By finally putting your company on the market…through my company of course.”
“You mean having the company go public so that stocks can be traded on it? No thank you.”
“Why not? You're the biggest privately own production company in the US. You could keep 55% to keep majority and put the other 45% on the stock exchange. Of course I'd be your broker and me and the company I work for would make a killing along with yourself.”
“Yes I know all that. At least once a year one of my finance people makes this suggestion and every year I tell them the same thing….no.”
Kikyo lost her smile and pressed her lips together. “Why not?” She asked the simple and direct question because she knew he'd give her a simple and direct answer.
“Because, I built up this company's name, its reputation with my own hands. I like controlling the when, what, where and how and plan to keep it that way. I don't want shareholders meetings and the like. When I die I want my children to inherit my dream that I made into reality.” It was the first time he'd put into words his desire to have something to pass on, but he found the words rang true in his heart.
“Oh please, spare me the sentimental crap! Your saying you want to give up millions in the now so you can hand over your company to some spoiled brat who won't appreciate it in the future?”
Miroku smiled and gave an easy shrug. “Yes, that's what I'm saying. You know how it goes the pull of family.” Now her lips curled up as she thought of her own family. Miroku saw it and couldn't stop a laugh. “Ah is your family still….eccentric.”
“You mean is my mother still a society drunk and my father a uptight uncaring dog? Why yes they are, thank you for asking.” She gave a rueful grin and decided that another tactic was called for. “My mother was kind enough to send a news clipping of your marriage. I suppose congratulations are in order. Is this wife one of the reason your all into family now?”
“No, family has always been important to me, I'm just now realizing it though.” He said and found that is also was the truth.
“Your marriage was kind of sudden?” She began to slowly walk over to him, fishing for answers.
“You know how it is…it was time.” He watched her and vaguely took note that she still had a great body and underneath her warm smile he could see her quick minded brain calculating and trying to figure out a way to manipulate.
“Yes I do.” She wedged herself between his legs and absentmindedly unbuttoned the top two buttons of her suit coat as she gazed down at him. “My mother has been pressuring me for years to get married and get knocked up. She doesn't understand my need for business. Thinks all proper women should be married and go to country clubs all day. She doesn't understand the modern woman.”
“Yes...modern women can be tricky.” He smiled lazily up at her as she put both hands on his shoulders. He wasn't surprised that she was going to try to use sex. They had first become lovers because she wanted to get back at a boyfriend. He had known it then, and hadn't minded being used while he did some using of his own. But now as she sat on his lap and leaned into him, he felt nothing but pity for the woman she had obviously become.
Kikyo affected a sexy pout as she settled on his lap. Yes he was as cool as she remembered, but she didn't mind going the extra mile for her goal. After all he was a great lover and it would all be worth it once she convinced him and the dollars started rolling in. “We're not that complicated. We're still women we want a man to hold us…care for us. No matter how powerful a woman is in the board room we all like to be dominated in the bedroom.” She had littered her spill with kisses to his neck as she loosened his tie.
Miroku had swiveled his chair back to face the desk and now both of his hands rested on it and not her. He was faintly amused by her attempt of seduction but knew it was time to put a stop to it before she got her hopes up. Shaking his head he firmed his voice. “That's in interesting theory but I really think you should-“
“Get your damn hands off my husband.”
--------
Sango had decided to be impulsive and after work. Jumping in her car she had headed to Hidinni headquarters with the intention of coercing Miroku to leave early. She hadn't been surprised to see the secretary gone, as she usually sent her's home when she was working late to. Letting her self into his office she stopped dead in her tracks at the scene that greeted her. The sight of a very attractive and slightly familiar looking woman kissing Hidinni's neck. At the sound of her voice the woman jerked away from him and Miroku threw his hands up like he was being robbed. Sango didn't stop to question her response to the situation just went with it. Stepping more fully into the room she spoke again.
“Would you like me to come over and help you take your hands off my husband?” She said icily while taking another step forward. The woman in question merely blinked and slowly rose to her feet.
“This is your wife?” Kikyo asked, making a show of re-buttoning her suit. In fact she was looking at Miroku and ignoring the woman though she had taken her in. She'd noted the boring long tailored beige skirt to the high neck sleeveless tank blouse the woman wore. Business like but boring. She had a pretty enough face but the severe bun that she wore detracted from her face. In Kikyo's mind she was no competition.
“That's what it says on the certificate.” Sango said drawing the woman's attention back to her. She kept her eyes focused on the woman. She didn't dare look at Miroku or she might really lose it. “And now that we know who I am who the hell are you?”
“Oh yes how rude of me.” Kikyo assumed a tolerant smile and ambled over with her hand stretched out. “I'm Kikyo Dean. An old close friend of Miroku's. Why we grew up together.” Kikyo made the meaning of close very clear.
Sango spared a disdainful look at the offered hand, before flashing her eyes back to the woman who stood in front of her. “Yes he has mentioned you. I believe he said you were the awkward girl with braces who at fourteen he gave you your fist kiss.” Sango watched as Kikyo's confident smiled slipped. The flash of anger in her eyes had a smile coming to her own face.
“Yes…well I and Miroku had many tender moments over the years.”
“Yeah I just bet. Fortunate for everyone involved this tender moment is over.” Sango cut her off as Kikyo opened her mouth to protest. “Get out.” Sango watched as real surprise entered the woman eyes and she actually put a hand to her chest as if Sango had offended her.
“Excuse me? I'm from out of town and me and Miroku need to catch up, not to mention we have business to discuss.”
“Business hours are over make an appointment. As for any catching up that will have to wait also. My husband and I have family matters to attend to, I'm sure you understand and if you don't I really don't care. Now get out.” Sango watched in satisfaction as Kikyo's eyes widened then narrowed, before the woman turned to plead to Miroku.
“But Miroku we-.”
“You heard my wife…family first. It was interesting…as always to see you again. Next time give me some warning before you blow into town.”
Kikyo stared at him for a minute not believing he was dismissing her and the promise of having her in his bed for the shrew that stood before her. Color filling her checks she turned back around intending to lash out.
“Get…out” Sango said slowly as she took another step closer. “Please do not make me repeat myself again.” For a minute Kikyo looked as though she wanted to argue, then thinking better of it, squared her shoulders, gave a sniff and walked out the door closing it behind her.
Kikyo was furious, but she was never one for inaction, so by the time the elevator dropped her to the bottom floor, she had already devised a new plan. Miroku might not listen to her, but she knew one person who he would. Yes…if she could convince him then with a little time he would convince Miroku. While she didn't expect a warm welcome from her other old friend she knew she wouldn't be turned away. Reassured she smiled as she sat in her car and pulled out her rolodex.
------
Sango stared at the closed door while she tired to organize her thoughts. When she heard a nervous clearing of the throat from behind her she finally turned around.
For his part Miroku had been at first horrified when his wife walked in. Only to quickly become amused as he wife and Kikyo exchanged barbs. He had been surprised and oddly pleased by the barely suppressed angry he'd seen flash through her eyes. He had to admit watching her on the war path, when it wasn't directed at him, was very arousing. If they'd been taking bets he would have put all his money on Sango taking Kikyo down. That was no small feat for he knew that under Kikyo's slick demeanor she was a nasty one. But now as she turned those blazing eyes on him he didn't find the situation so funny anymore. He figured the best defense was sometimes an offense and spoke first.
“I can explain, she just popped into town and almost literally barged her way past Rachel into my office.” He shut up as she raised a hand for silence.
“I'll do the talking and you'll answer my questions. What did she want?”
“For me to make my company public and put it on the stock exchange.” He answered without pause. Secretly loving the commanding side of the woman who stood in front of him.
Sango raised an eyebrow and put one hand on her hip. “And what did you tell her.”
“I flat out refused, told her no.”
“I see…is that when she sat on your lap to persuade you?”
Miroku allowed a small smile to grace his mouth; apparently Sango understood more then he had given her credit for. “Yes, that's exactly when she decided to get comfortable she-" Again she silenced him with a hand.
Letting out a breath she didn't know she'd been holding she started walking forward. “Say no more, I get the picture.”
“Really? Well good I was afraid we were about to have another misunderstanding like with Jackie.” He let some of the strain ease out of his shoulders but remained in his seat. Women could indeed be tricky, he didn't want to chance her flipping emotions and knocking him back down as soon as he stood up.
“No, I put two and two together from her attitude.” Sango stood looking out the window for a moment, suddenly embarrassed by her actions. “Ugh, I'm sorry for barging in and going off like that, after all she was a childhood friend.”
“Please don't be sorry, I'm not. You took the words right out of my mouth. It was clearly time for her to go. Besides I enjoyed watching you in action. Very Xena like.”
That got a bubble of laughter out of her and she turned around to smile at him. His words rung true to her ears, she believed in this instance he was about to give the other woman the boot. “I wasn't that bad, I wouldn't have touched her.” At his unbelieving look she laughed again. “Okay maybe just a little…you know shove her in the right direction.”
“I would have paid money to see it if you had. Anyway what brings you here? Is there a problem? Kohaku?” For the first time since she'd entered he was worried. What would bring Sango to his office when she should be at home? He started to stand when she waved him back down.
“No he's fine, nothing is wrong. I was going to ambush you and persuade you to come home early for dinner. I guess I got more then I bargained for.”
“Really?” He found his self enormously pleased by her answer. “Well, all is not lost…though I don't see you doing much persuading.”
“I guess I'll have to make up for that.” She started to slowly walk to him taking her time. On impulse she reached up and slipped the knot out of her hair letting it spill down her back. She was rewarded with his intake of breath. What had come over her? She didn't know and she didn't care.
Miroku cleared his throat carefully trying not to choke of the drool that suddenly filled his mouth. “I think that's a start.”
“You think?” She said coyly. Coming to stand between his legs she slowly sank down to her knees. Boldly looking him in the eye even though her face flamed, she cupped his penis through his expensive pants. “I think I can be a little more persuasive.” She murmured unzipping him with one hand while she continued to massage his rapidly hardening member. Miroku was speechless as he watched her hand reach in and pull him out, she had yet to service him this way and the thought of her doing it now sent his blood boiling. He reached out a hand to touch her hair and she pulled back. “I bet you've had countless women kneeling on their knees for you in this office?”
Miroku's foggy brain quickly tried to decide how to answer. He could tell the truth, or he could lie, in the end he picked neither. “I've never had my wife before.”
She smiled and gave his now fully hard member another squeeze. “And you won't today either.” She stood up and walked back towards the window.
Miroku let out a breath of frustration. “Ah damn. So is this my punishment?”
“Why not at all.” She turned and begin un-buttoned her tank blouse. “I still have persuading to do.” She let if fall to the floor and watched his eyes darken as he took in her forest green bra that she new complimented her darker skin. He had once commented on her habit of wearing sexy underwear beneath her understated clothes. He said it was very sexy. Once the shirt was gone she begin to work on the skirt.
Miroku sat there slowly stroking his self, fascinated by his wife. He did get a thrill out of her sexy lingerie under her dull clothes. It reminded him of the woman. Cool on the outside but fire beneath. He watched as she undressed with the setting sun behind her through the big window. The gold red shine of the sun made her look like a fiery nymph. She had never been the actively aggressive one during sex. This was a pleasant and exciting departure for the norm…if he could live through it, he was harder then a rock.
Sango left her bra and panties on and even as a flush of excitement and nerves covered her skin, she felt half stupid and half wanton as she walked back over in her sensible heels. “So is it working yet?”
“What did you want from me again? I'm having a hard time thinking.” He said as he grabbed her by the hips and set his lips to her skin.
“I'm trying to persuade you to come home and have dinner.” Her hands clenched his suit coat as his lips trailed down her belly.
“Ahhhh, is it possible I can have dessert first?” He slowly pushed the panties over her rounded hips loving the shiver that raced over her skin
“I think that can be arranged.” The panties were at her feet and as she went to step out of them and her shoes he stopped her.
“No…leave your shoes on….they turn me on.”
She blushed above his head and left them on as she felt his hand part her thighs and find her middle. Taking a deep breath she suddenly pushed him back and watching him hit the back of the chair with a look of surprise on his face. “Not so fast with the dessert…we wouldn't want you to get sick.”
“Wife I'm starting to think I'll never get sick of your dessert.”
Sango straddled his thighs in his huge leather black chair and slowly lowered herself onto him. She tired to hold his eyes but couldn't as she felt the hot hard length of him slip into her warmth. His hiss of release mingled with her moan of pleasure and for a moment he merely pressed her hips down so that she took all of him in as he buried his face in her breasts, his feet swinging the chair back around to face the desk.
Then she started to move and it was all he could do not to come right then. She was so tight…so hot, so sexy as she glided her body slowly up and down his rod. He pulled her bra down with his teeth and latched on to a breast, lavishing the mounds with his tongue. She was gripping his neck, one hand tangled in his now loose hair, which she pulled when he nipped her nipple.
“Ohhhhh, you feel so….good!” She moaned as she increased her pace.
“Isn't that my line?” He said around a mouthful full of flesh, gripping her rounded ass as he helped move her more forcefully over him.
“No…talking.” Struggling to breath she jerked his head back and crushed her mouth to his. Sango felt like a live wire, she couldn't explain it but the power of this position made her feel bold and wild. She wanted to posses him…claim him. In the far reaches of her mind she knew she wanted to take him here, in this chair, to erase the images of the other woman who minutes before had sat here, of all the women who had had him in this office. She didn't question this need, she just knew she had to follow through on it. As her mouth took from his, her hands slid to his chest. She loosened his tie with a hard pull. Then impatient fingers ripped the shirt free from its buttons. He jerked in response and she increased the pressure on his lips refusing to let him go.
Feeling his hands tighten on her hips she raked her nails down his now exposed chest eliciting a groan from her willing prisoner. She felt his capable hands glide up her back until his fingers curled around her shoulders and suddenly she was being slammed down onto his lap.
“Oh god!” She finally let his lips go to scream her plea. After a few more hard thrusts she knocked his hands away only to grip the arms of the chair and lean back She stretched backwards until her back dug into the wood desk. He moaned at the new position as her hips positioned up and down every move drawing cries from her and sweat drops of pleasure from him. He knew she wanted to be in control, to ride and guide him. Luckily for them both he was man enough to let her. He was enjoying the ride just fine, in fact too much, he couldn't hold out to much longer. He restrained himself from standing up, putting her on her back and slamming into her, but he had to touch her. One hand massaged and played with a breast while the other made it's why down her smooth stomach.
She looked up and caught his eye, even as she caught her breath only to loose it as he stroked her clit. Her body lost its rhythm and jerked tightening around him. “Mmmmm, Miroku!”
“My lovely Sango….that's right….come for me.” He saw the pleasure build in her eyes, saw it prepare to spill over as she continued to move and he continued to stroke. Felt her powerful muscles strain around him, pulling and sucking him in. God she was killing him! He leaned forward and managed to grab a breast with his lips and rubbed her center faster.
“Yes! Oh god yes!” She came…fell apart, jerking up grabbing his head, grinding her climatic heat against his as her world blurred. He didn't hold back now. Grabbing her hips, lifting them only to slam them back down as he sought his own release. It didn't take long and soon he followed her, losing his cries of release in the pillows that were her breasts.
-------
For long moments later they sat and let the air conditioner cool the sweat on their bodies. Then from no where she started to laugh and she pushed away from him to see his face. She had never felt so free before or so empowered.
“What are you laughing at wife?” Miroku asked a grin on his own face as he took in her mused hair and flushed face.
“Nothing. I suppose we should…um get dressed and head home for dinner.”
He toyed with her breasts and felt his self stirring inside her already, an evil grin on his face. “Now why would I want dinner when I've just had the best dessert?”
“Because.” She slapped his hand away still smiling. “If you eat your food and be a good boy there might be another helping of dessert in your future.”
“Well that's an opportunity I just can't pass up. You win. I guess I can use my suit coat to hide the evidence of your…uh persuasion.”
She blushed at the remainder of her actions and turned her face away as she got up off him. “Um….well hurry up, Kohaku should be expecting me soon. I called ahead and told the cook that I'd be along with or with out you shortly.” She avoided him and hurriedly put on her underwear and sought out the rest of her clothes.
Miroku watched amused as he could almost visibly see her put back up her barrier. Shrugging he tucked his more then happy penis back in his pants and stood up to arrange his ruined shirt and suit jacket into place. “Fine…I suppose I can wait for my second helping.”
She didn't say anything just made her way back from the window to him. As she was about to pass his desk she paused and turned back. She looked at him…then back at the desk a mischievous look in her eye.
“What?”
“Nothing I just forgot something.” With a flourish of her arm she swept everything within her reach off the desk and onto the floor. “There! We can go now.”
“What the hell was that for?” Miroku laughingly asked, surprised yet again by her actions.
“Nothing personal. I was just paying you back….you know for that time in my office.” She said as she reached for the door.
“With one difference wife, I stayed and helped you clean it up.”
“Yeah well you can't have everything Hidinni…get used to it.” She gave him a smug smile as they headed to the elevator.
--------
Across town at the studio Inuyasha was thinking that Kagome was the one woman he didn't understand. For a whole week now things had been back to normal for them. Filming was going great and they were cordial but professionally distant on the set. He must have been crazy to lay his cards on the table like that. Telling her he hadn't thought of another woman? What the hell had he been thinking? He had given her all the leverage in this affair, though technically if they never had sex again it would only be a one night stand! He was doing his part to suck up, dinners, calling and all the rest but they'd yet to hit the sheets. The strain of waiting was torturing him. He wasn't used to waiting for sex when he actually wanted it. So now he waited for today's shoot to be over so he could have another crack at getting in her pants. It wasn't helping his libido that their last take had them rolling around in action scenes. Damn he wanted to be rolling around with her on a bed somewhere!
Kagome was thinking the same thing as they did a third take. She hadn't been torturing him on purpose, but had spent the week in indecision. Did she want an affair with this man? While she wasn't looking for love, she wouldn't mind the possibility and she knew with him that wasn't an option. How long would it be before he grew tired of her and moved on? Would they even make it to the end of the movie only a couple of months away? But as his body pinned hers down on the set it was hard to think rationally as her she tingled. Could she pass on this amazing chemistry they had? Plus she had to admit he'd made a solid effort to woo her. They had went out to dinner at least three times, he was thoughtful on the set, and had even started calling her every night as they drove home. It was rather sweet. She knew what he wanted and had to admit she wanted it too. Of course there had also been the secretive looks and the whispered comments that only she could here. The ones that made her forget her lines.
She had confided her dilemma to Sango who had been amused, but told her to go ahead as long as she was comfortable with the situation and the future out come. Sango had also shared her and Miroku's new found friendship and admitted that she was actually having some fun with her temporary marriage. Kagome was glad the couple had been able to become friends and she was happy that Sango wasn't miserable in her predicament. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to have some mutual fun with Inuyasha. No he wasn't boyfriend material and not her usually type with his massive arrogance but she had no doubt that theirs would be an exiting and hot union…however long it lasted. Didn't every woman need at least one hot, blazing, sinful affair in her life to look back on?
--------
“And cut! That's a wrap very, very good. Okay people we'll have full days of shooting all next week, but the week after that we'll only have shooting up till Wednesday. Then some of the set up crew will take off for Vegas to set up the locations and stuff there. So you'll have Thursday and Friday to rest and look over the scenes we'll be shooting the two days we're there. Mr. Hidinni is providing a personal flight out for everyone who's going Saturday morning. Everyone will get details at the end of next week. I just thought I'd give you a heads up. Have a good night and see you at noon tomorrow.”
Wolf set his bull horn down and everyone started to follow him out. Thirty minuets later Inuyasha was walking her out to her car. “It's only 7 do you want to get something to eat?”
“Wow a guy offering dinner four times in a week? You wouldn't be trying to seduce by any chance?”
He grinned fingering a piece of her hair before letting it go. “You can't blame a guy for trying.”
“No I can't.” She said smiling back.
“So where will it be this time?” They had avoided going back to Spargo's being seen there twice in two weeks would start the gossip mill rolling all by it's self.
Kagome looked around them and saw that they were relatively alone before she spoke again. “Sorry I'm not really hungry…for dinner that is.”
“Oh.” His shoulders sagged in disappointment. “Well I can understand we had a tough shoot, you probably want to hit the sack and get….wait what did you say.” As if the meaning of her words had just penetrated his brain, he stopped and pulled her to a stop with him.
She lightly laughed but quickly pulled her hands from his just incase anyone was watching. “You heard what I said and I do want to hit the sack but with you in it.”
“Hot damn! You mean it?”
“I wish people could see you now. The sophisticated mega star playboy about to pee his pants because I've agreed to have sex with him!”
“Something's going on in my pants but it has nothing to do with using the bathroom.” He said leering at her and finally getting her to blush. “So…how and where do you want to do this?”
“I….don't know….my place I guess.” They had started walking again, and she felt the excitement of what they were about to do race through her veins.
“I don't think so you're place is to far away. We'll go to mine, it's closer. I've waited to long for this and don't plan on waiting a minute more then I have to.” They had reached her car and he opened the door after she de-engaged the alarm. “You have a problem with that?”
“No, that will work.”
“Good, follow me and keep up.” He shut her door and started striding towards his car a couple of parking spaces away.
“Don't worry…I can keep up all right!”
------
Inuyasha was driving like a bat out of hell, and Kagome kept up with him laughing the whole way as the wind whipped through her hair. She was just as excited as he was. So when they arrived she barely took in his impressive mansion as she parked the car and jumped out, thinking long enough to grab her purse.
They stumbled through the house not bothering to turn on any lights as Inuyasha steered her to the bedroom. They would have made it there quicker if they hadn't been locked in a kiss and tug a war while discarding their clothes along the way. Kagome's left one shoe in the hall, another in the living room along with her skirt, purse and his shirt. No words were spoken. Her shirt got left in the hall to his bedroom and she was tackling his belt when they fell through his door. Kagome was having a hard time with it in the dark along with the fact her hands were shaking from his caresses. She was about to ask him to find a light when the one snapped on.
“Thanks I couldn't-.” She broke off as she realized that he still had both hands on her. They both looked around and came face to face with the woman sitting up in his bed.
“Who the hell is she?” Both women asked at the same time.
-------
Kikyo had put her next plan into action directly after leaving Mirouk's office. Inuyasha would listen to her, he just had too. Though it had many years since they'd last seen each other she had no doubt that they still had a connection. He had been her first real boyfriend and theirs had been an intense and rocky relationship. Even so it had lasted for over three years. They had been stuck on each other. Two troubled teens seeking something they couldn't get from their family's. They had finally called it quits when his career had taken off and soon after she'd moved to New York. Not before he'd bought this house and given her a key though.
She had used it today and let herself in, intending to surprise him. She had freshened up and laid her self out in his bed in nothing but her lace underwear and prepared to wait for him. He had to come home eventually and she'd be waiting. So when she'd heard the stumbling through the house she wasn't concerned but had merely waited. She had never expected the sight that greeted her when she'd flipped on his bed side light. Now she was glaring furiously at the woman who was also just in her underwear and clinging to Inuyasha.
Kagome stared right back, noting the hostile glare along with the black slip of a night gown the woman wore. Just what was going on here?
“Kikyo? What the hell are you doing here?” Inuyasha couldn't believe his eyes as he stared at his ex as if she was something from a nightmare.
“Inuyasha who is she.” Kikyo asked instead standing up.
“Who am I? I asked you first.” Kagome wanted to cover herself up but resisted the urge since this Kikyo person didn't seem to be ashamed of her own state of undress.
Inuyasha looked back and forth between the now two glaring women and shook his head. Could his luck get any worse? “Shit. This is Kikyo…she was-.”
“His girlfriend for three years.” Kikyo cut in smiling smugly, walking towards him.
“Was! That's the key word was and that was almost five years ago. What the fuck are you doing here now? Don't you still live in New York?”
“Oh don't be like that sweety. I thought I'd surprise you since I was in town. Aren't you happy to see me?” She said purring up on his other side.”
Inuyasha was about to answer when Kagome beat him to it. “Ever heard of calling first?” She wanted to snatch him away from the woman's hands but settled for planting her own on her hips.
His head whipped around noting the irritation and angry in Kagome's and figured he better get rid of his uninvited house guest quick. He turned back to Kikyo to tell her to get out but something else came out instead. “You know you two kind of look alike.” It was true having them both this close to him he could see the resemblance.
“What? I don't think so. I've had people compare me to that new actress….Kagome Higurashi I believe it is.” Kikyo gave the other woman a dismissive stare before continuing. “And she is not even in the same league.”
Inuyasha couldn't stop the bark of laughter as he shrugged off her hands and watched as Kagome face flaming stepped closer. “How dare you! I am Kagome Higuarashi”
Kikyo's mouth gaped open like a fish and she turned to Inuyasha for confirmation.
“She is, we're currently working on a project together.” The look on Kikyo's face was priceless, that is until Kagome brought the situation back into focus.
“Is she going or am I?” Kagome didn't believe the words came from her but she was livid. How dare this woman insult her like that!
Inuyasha quickly steered Kagome further away. “She is. No one asked her to come. I swear I didn't even know she was in town. Kikyo you need to leave….now.”
Kikyo had never been so embarrassed or furious in her life! She couldn't believe he of all people were treating her life this. Not trusting herself to speak she went and retrieved her folded suit and purse from the side of the bed and put them back on with jerky angry movements. Feeling a little more secure once she was dressed she walked forward and gave him a pout. “Well won't you at least walk me to the door Inuyasha since you're throwing me out?”
All humor of the situation had left him and he found his self more then a bit mad. “No. You let yourself in you can see your self out.” He saw her scowl and knew that if Kagome hadn't been there she might have launched her self at him attacking…it wouldn't have been the first time. Instead she tilted her chin and turned to walk out.
“Aren't you forgetting to get your key from her?”
“Let her keep it, I plan on having the locks changed tomorrow.” He said disgusted with the whole scene.
“You'll pay for treating me like this Inuyasha…I won't forget.” She flung at him as she went through the doorway.”
“I've been paying for years you crazy bitch!” He yelled slamming the door behind her before running his hands over his hair. They were silent in the room until a couple of minutes later they heard the front door slam. Finally he looked up at Kagome expecting the worst. “I'm sorry, I really didn't know she was in town. She really is crazy…she ah fuck it, I'm just sorry. I understand if you want to go home.”
Kagome stood arms crossed under her breasts, foot tapping before slowly shaking her head and walking over to him. “That was weird and unexpected…but I don't feel right letting her ruin our night.”
“You mean it?” He asked as he felt her hands wrap around his neck.
“Yeah….unless you're not in the mood anymore.”
“Hell yeah I'm in the mood!” He grinned pushing her back by the hips towards the bed.
“Wait not in this bed. I don't want to lay where she was.”
“Not a problem. I have tons of bedrooms. We seem to never make it to a bed anyway.”
She laughed going back to undo his pants. “True…and I kind of enjoyed the wall.”
“Then we can start there and work our way back around to a bed later….much later.”
AN: Thank you all for reading and reviewing LOL and thank the people who kept telling me to update. Sorry I have an active mind and when I latch on to writing another story sometimes I can't stop until I get to a certain point.(with that said go read my other stories) Anyway, I never forget about ANY of my stories, so never fear. Again I think this story will have about 12 to 13 Chaps so you still have a lot of story left. Next chapter is called “Sin City” and can I just say that chapter will have a semi orgy and graphic sexual language and scenes and two HUGE things will happen in chapter 8, the chapter is the turning point in the story! Please remember this is and AU story and therefore personalities will fit the story line and plot and depended on the mood of the character from chapter to chapter.(bio's in chapter 1)
So, I really hope you enjoyed the guest appearance of two more characters Kikyo (I am not a Kikyo hater) but for this role she does play the scheming bitch and Shippo (lol him as a jock, but remember they are in Hollywood and rich) and liked the little twists and turns. Note I spell it Shippo and am aware that others do not. You will most likely see them again at some point. Please remember I like realistic stuff so I couldn't have everyone falling in love all at once (plus the story would end!) there has to be some conflict for everyone to overcome. So please review and keep me going and I hope you had a great time reading. Anyone who wants to be on my email update list leave a email address or ask me to add you in a review then you won't waste time looking for my random updates.
CHAP 8 HOPFULLY OUT BY THE END OF MAY!!!
