Chapter 6: What Next?

Kagome awoke the next morning to someone knocking on her door. Still feeling sleepy, she got up and walked over to the shoji, and set her hand on the frame. Rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she slowly opened the sliding door. She was mildly surprised to see Rosutoashura standing there so early, her head bowed and hands clasped behind her back in what Kagome was beginning to think was her normal fashion.

"Good morning," Kagome said, still a bit groggy.

"Good morning, Kagome-sama. Sesshoumaru-sama, requested that I wake you and take you to the hot springs if you wish to wash before breakfast," Rosutoashura replied, her head still bowed.

"Hm, a bath sounds wonderful. But, do I really have time for one," Kagome asked as she looked out the window, into the well lit day.

"Yes. Rin has already had her breakfast, and is now with her current instructor, beginning her lessons for the day, and Sesshoumaru-sama has already taken care of most of his business for the day," the female youkai replied, her head remaining bowed the entire time she spoke.

Kagome was bothered by the way Rosutoashura kept her head bowed all the time, but didn't know why. She figured it had to do with her upbringing as a servant, but even the other servants looked up once in a while. She was curious, so she decided to ask. "Why do you keep your head bowed like that all the time?"

Rosutoashura looked at Kagome, shocked. No one had ever cared before, and here was a human, caring about her. Sure, Sesshomaru had taken her in, but she knew he just wanted her for her strength.

Kagome smirked. "Got you to look up."

"Would you like your bath now?" she asked, keeping her head up when she saw that this human girl, that Kagome, liked it.

Kagome nodded. "But I need you to help me pick out a kimono." she told her. Rosutoashura nodded and they headed for the closet.

During her bath, she had time to study Rosutoashura closer, seeing as she had joined her in the bath.

She had silver gray eyes, but not as plain as one would imagine the color to be. Her pupils and iris' were the silver color, which actually looked more like it was well polished silver, and the rest of her eyes were bright gold. It was odd. You would think the colors would clash and not look good together, but in Rosutoashura's eyes, they were beautiful.

Her face markings were barely visible and she had to point them out to Kagome. She had a silver crescent moon on each cheek, both facing inward, and a light gold upside down triangle that was covered by her long bangs.

They spent a while just talking about each other, the castle, and eventually the conversation went towards Sesshomaru. The conversation about their pasts was short because neither really wanted to give details, each for their own reason.

After about a half hour, they got out. Kagome had found out that Sesshomaru had assigned Rosutoashura to be her personal servant, which meant she was suppose to help Kagome do practically anything she needed done. After they both had gotten dressed, Rosutoashura escorted Kagome to the dining hall once again.

Kagome was surprised that it was just Sesshomaru and there was no Jaken.

"Where's Rin and Jaken?" she asked, curious.

"They have alreay had breakfast. Now, Jaken is watching Rin while she plays in the garden." he told her.

She nodded and sat down, thinking deeply of her deal with Sesshomaru. "If you don't mind, I have one more condition to add." she said meekly. He inclined his head, silently telling her to go on. "I would like to be allowed to visit my family once a month." she said quietly.

"You wish to return to that mangy human village?" he asked her, amazed.

"No, I don't live there. I guess I am going to have to explain some things to you. The dry well in the forest has a portal that allows me to travel through time. I actually live about four hundred years in the future." she told him.

He looked at her like she was crazy. "You must be crazy if you expect me to believe that." he told her, skeptical.

"Okay, so I have to tell you everything." she said. Then she told him the whole story, from getting pulled into the well at her home, to meeting Inuyasha, to having the Shikon no Tama ripped out of her.

He still looked at her like she was crazy.

She noticed the look he was giving her. "If you're so skeptical, then you can come with me if you promise not to kill anyone. It's a little different in the future. Rin can stay here with Jaken." she told him.

He was intrigued by the offer. She had told him of things in the future and they definately sounded different. He was curious. "Fine, we will leave after breakfast."

She looked at him, stunned. He had sounded almost eager to go. She just nodded. She suddenly had a very bad feeling about taking Sesshomaru to the future with her, if she could even get him through the well.

That night, Kagome lay on her bed. In her room. At Sesshomaru's. Thinking. Kagome had been hoping to sleep in her bed, in her room, in her house, in her time, but Sesshomaru had insisted that they come back as soon as they could. As she thought back on it, maybe it was the wisest thing to do.

~*~*~*~ Flashback ~*~*~*~

The first thing when she got home, she had to keep Sesshomaru from killing her family. First, her mother had started petting his tail. Then, Sota had latched on to it and got into an arguement about Sesshomaru's gender. After that, her grandfather got in on it by putting ofuda all over Sesshomaru. With Sota still attached to his tail.

It had taken only a few minutes for her grandfather to run out of ofuda, but it had taken much longer to get her mother and Sota off of him, and even longer to get the idea of killing her family right then and there out of Sesshomaru's head.

Luckily, her family had left the shrine not long after Kagome had managed to pry them all off of Sesshomaru. Kagome decided to pack for a few hours before making some lunch.

Sesshomaru had tried to stay put in one place, but he was too curious about her time. He didn't want to show what he thought was a weakness, so instead of asking her about it, he wandered around the house, looking at things for himself. Which ended up causing problems and distracting Kagome from her packing.

At first, he was simply turning the lights on and off as he had seen Kagome and her family do. Then, he went into the kitchen and saw another switch by a metal basin, so he went over and flipped the switch. He was surprised when, instead of the room getting lighter, it sounded almost as if a demon was growling in the bottom of the metal basin.

Kagome had been packing, when she heard the garbage disposal turn on in the kitchen. 'Odd,' she thought. 'No one is home.' She headed out of her room to go find out what was happening when she remembered Sesshomaru. She ran down the stairs, entered the kitchen, and was shocked to see Sesshomaru about ready to attack her sink.

"Sesshomaru, no, don't." she yelled over the noise of the garbage disposal. She ran over to the sink and turned off the noisy machine. "If you were curious, you should have told me. I could have told you about stuff." she told him.

"I, Sesshomaru, was not curious." he said coldly.

"Oh yeah, then why are all the lights on and how come you were down here messing with the garabe disposal?" she asked him, defiantly.

~*~*~*~ End Flashback ~*~*~*~

Kagome shook her head. He had given her several excuses before he finally admitted that he was curious. She had taken him back up to her room and told him about stuff in her room as she packed.

When she had gotten hungry, she had taken him back to the kitchen and explained most everything in there to him as best she could.

~*~*~*~ Flashback ~*~*~*~

"This is a gas stove. You can cook food on it," Kagome was telling Sesshoumaru.

She had moved on to talking about a thing she called a refridgerator. He was still interesting in the stove. He walked over to it and played with some of the knobs on the back of it. They really didn't seem to do anything. As he leaned forward, some of his hair fell over his shoulder.

Kagome looked over her shoulder at Sesshomaru. He was playing with the stove, and some of his hair had fallen over his shoulder and was swinging very close to the cooking flames. She ran over and pulled him back just before his hair would have had direct contact with the flame.

When he glared at her, she just pointed at the stove. That was when he noticed the small flame on the top of the cooking machine and realized he had almost caught his hair on fire.

She pulled him with her and sat him down at the kitchen table and told him to stay. She then continued telling him about things as she prepared her lunch, completely avoiding the ramen.

~*~*~*~ End Flashback ~*~*~*~

She rolled over onto her stomach and muttered into her pillow. "Oh Kami, it's a miracle he didn't kill himself." Then she remembered the stereo that she was going to have to explain to her family.

"Why did he have to melt the stereo? That's not going to be easy to explain." she mumbled into her pillow.

It was amazing he didn't destroy the TV as well. That had gotten turned on by accident, but by then he had seen enough that he didn't jump up to immediately destroy it as he had with the stereo. She explained the TV to him and after that he was extremely intrigued by the concept of knowing about things almost instantly. She showed him how to work the remote and told him not to destroy it. Especially, if he wanted to be gone by the time her family got back, to which he growled.

She then went back up to her room and managed to finish packing without anything else getting destroyed. After which, they promptly went back to the warring states era.

She was just glad she hadn't let him near the toaster, that would have been an even worse mess than if he had actually caught his hair on fire.

She decided if she was going to get any sleep that night, that she had better quit worrying about it and go to sleep. It was late and she'd had a long day. She rolled over onto her side and slowly went to sleep.
