InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Aftermath ❯ Lock Up the Wolves ( Chapter 3 )
In the remains of a war-torn world, can four individuals find peace?
A/N: Shorter than usual, having a small writer's block problem. Mostly a fight scene.
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha or any of the songs contained within.
Songs are listed w/ copyrights and the like at the end of the fic.
_____The Aftermath_____
[music]
Black Label Society - Lost Heaven
My lost heaven has been turned upside down
Dead and buried is the joy which I once found
My lost heaven has sought refuge down below
Ain't no ocean I wouldn't cross or anywhere I wouldn't go
[/music]
Inuyasha looked back one last time at the apartment that had been his home the past few weeks, then sped off. He owed it to them to leave, to keep them safe. If something somehow set him off...
[music]
As I walk this world, tired and alone
Got one foot in the grave, Lord, help me make it home
I'll carry your pain, my words bleed straight and true
If it leads me to you
[/music]
Images of Kagome's face came unbidden to his head, and he shook is head, trying to clear them. 'She's just a girl I helped, then she helped me by giving me a place to stay. Simple as that. I'll just go back to being a loner.'
[music]
My lost heaven as long as the rotted day
Strength through blood
Battle the flood which bears my name
Dead and buried, for the end has run its course
Dogs of war return never to be lost
[/music]
He continued on his way, the weight of his belongings heavier on his back than they should have been, the weight pulling down to the pit of his stomach. 'I suppose I better find a place to rest...'
[music]
As I walk this world, tired and alone
Got one foot in the grave, Lord, help me make it home
I'll carry your pain, my words bleed straight and true
If it leads me to you
[/music]
He traveled further into the city, going deeper and deeper, looking for any vacated spot where he could rest. He could find nothing, and began to lose hope. 'Nothing anywhere...'
[music]
As I walk this world, tired and alone
Got one foot in the grave, Lord, help me make it home
I'll carry your pain, my words bleed straight and true
If it leads me to you
If it leads me to you
If it leads me to you
If it leads me to you
If it leads me to you

The roads were increasingly run down and filled with debris, despite the increase of people. 'What's going on here? There's more people, but the city is getting more run down here than anywhere else!'
After hours of searching, he found a vacant spot. The sun was setting, and Inuyasha waited for the moon to rise. He slung his pack off of his back, and pocketed the keys to the motorcycle.
The place was the remains of some office building, mostly sheltered against the elements, though if it rained that night, it would fall through the small slabs on the edges of what remained of the roof.
He leaned back against the wall, waiting for the moon to appear, but it still didn't, and he soon felt himself losing strength and awareness.
'FUCK. Tonight's the new moon, isn't it?! God DAMN! How the hell did I forget that? Shit!'
[music]
Dio - Lock up the Wolves
In the houses of the holy
To the middle of the mystic sea
At the cradle of the world
There's a black cat screaming
And it's not even midnight, no
At the cradle of the world
[/music]
"There he is!"
"It's the scumbag who killed Tanaka and the rest!"
"Get him!"
'Fuckers.' Inuyasha swore mentally, wondering just who the hell it was who was after him. 'Well, I'm still stronger than most humans...'
[music]
They're screaming for sanctuary
They're screaming at you
Lock up the wolves
Lock up the wolves, yeah, yeah, yeah
Now there's a cloud over heaven
And a pain out of paradise
In your corner of the world
[/music]
As they rushed at him, he swung a fist, hitting the first man in the jaw, sending him stumbling into the wall
'Gotta stop hitting people in the fast... Jaw bone is stronger than my fist.'
The rest, Inuyasha counted seven, eight, with the loser on the floor, came at him at once. He brought his hands up in a defensive position, and sidestepped the first. The second, he gave a blow to the stomach, and then another in the throat. He died with a bubbling sound, his windpipe crushed, and blood trying to wrench up through the broken mess of his throat.
[music]
Turn your back on the children
Does it feel like it's colder
In your corner of the world
They're screaming for sanctuary
They're screaming at you
Lock up the wolves
Lock up the wolves,...
[/music]
Inuyasha looked over his shoulder to see the first one running at him from behind, and he crouched, spearing his body backwards, shoulder ramming the man in the chest. The man gasped, and lay breathing heavily on the ground.
Inuyasha got up, realizing too late that the others had circled him. He received a kick in his side, snarled, and launched himself at the man, intent on gouging his eyes out. He realized too late, however, that he was human. Whereas he would have ripped the man in half with the first stroke, all he had done was leave a small red mark, though he did manage to get one of the man's eyes.
[music]
Don't you let'em get away
Lock up the wolves before you play
Or it's over
Lock up the wolves
Don't you let'em get away
Don't you let'em get away
There's no back door to heaven
Just a front door to hell, oh
In this corner of the world
[/music]
He turned his head to his remaining opponents, tiring already. 'I can't keep this up much longer... I don't have enough energy.'
With a defiant battle cry, Inuyasha leaped into the rest, preparing to go out with a bang, at least.
[music]
Now if you turn your back on the children
Don't you feel it getting colder
In your corner of the world
They're screaming for sanctuary
They're screaming at you
Lock up the wolves
Lock up the wolves,...
[/music]

Sorry it's so short, just having trouble getting what I want out onto the comp. Hoping for some more inspiration soon.
Random Tidbit: darklyrics . com - It's where I get all my lyrics. Good place.

Black Label Society - Lost Heaven (Sad song, though I felt it fit the event perfectly)
Dio - Lock Up The Wolves (One of my favorite Dio songs, I like it a lot.)
