A/n:Hehe.This chapter contains um....NO graphic details of the operation whatsoever.So all you people who don't enjoy having a doctor cut open Kagome's shoulder can rest peacefully.If you wanted the gory details...email me and I'll send the gory version to you.You want nightmares you got `em!Oh well.This chapter is very long and I'm still working out the finer details of the ending.But I assure you there will be no writers block whatsoever.But if you have a suggestion I'll be happy to take it and see if I can fit it into the plot.So enjoy this chapter and hope for no angst!(Your prayers will not be answered.*grins*)

Chapter 16,Recovering Shock

Kagome heard the doorknob turn and a middle-aged doctor came in.He was in a white doctor's coat and had a serious expression on his face.

"Okay,your boyfriend just paid for your surgery and now we can start."He regarded Kagome sadly,"What happened to injure you this bad,Ms.Higurashi?"

Kagome,luckily,had already thought this would happen and disscussed with Inuyasha."Uh,I was walking to college with my boyfriend when a broken pot dropped on my shoulder.It was clay and it cut through my shoulder."

The doctor sighed."People are so careless these days.Throwing their garbage out their windows.Oh well,be careful and sit up please.I have this outfit for you here to change into.After you change you can prepare to go into surgery.I'll be waiting outside.You call me when you're done,okay?"

Kagome nodded and sat up to put on the white outfit.It wasn't too reavealing and hugged her body.She wished Inuyasha was here but knew very well that he wasn't allowed near her until the surgery was over.`He must be blaming himself for this'She thought,`Oh well.Here I go.'

She tied the knot with numb hands and called for the doctor to come in.A nurse came instead and instructed for her to lie down on the wheelie bed-thing (or something like that).She did as was said and she slowly pushed her through the doors into a brightly-lit room.

Kagome closed her eyes and waited for the needle to come.

Inuyasha was sitting in the bench,his fingers nervously tapping his knee and his eyebrow was twiching.Yuka and Sango watched him in fascination.

"You know,Inuyasha.You really are quite pathetic.Accidentally hurting your mate and beating yourself up after."Sango stated flatly.

Inuyasha stopped."SHUT UP SANGO!!!"

Yuka and Sango winced at the irritation in his voice as he went back to his previous activity.Which was,sadly,nothing.

"Geez,Inuyasha.Think you can be less touchy?"Yuka complained

"Woulsn't YOU be touchy?!YOU DON'T KNOW TOUCHY!"Inuyasha all but screamed in her face.

Sango and Yuka left him alone after that.But after a afew minutes,Rin and a few of Inuyasha's friends came through the door.Including Miroku.

"Inuyasha!"Rin screamed,"Is Kagome okay?I heard what happened.The forest.Everything,I heard from Sesshy."Rin sat down beside the two girls and interrogated him.

"Uh,Rin."Sango tentatively calmed Rin down,"Inuyasha's in a REALLY bad mood.I suggest you not talk to him."

"BAD MOOD?!OF COURSE I'M IN A BAD MOOD!"Inuyasha screamed at them.

"Whoa,Inu,man."One of his friends told him,"Calm down.Your girl's gonna be okay."He patted Inuyasha on the back.

"No,I will NOT CALM DOWN."Inuyasha growled in a low voice,"Kagome has gone into surgery.She might not survive.And It's...my...fault."Inuyasha's eyes softened and his shoulders relaxed.

"Miroku,come."Inuyasha pulled on Miroku's sleeve.Miroku merely shrugged before he was forcefully dragged into a corner.

"Miroku.I might lose her.And I'm afraid my concealing spell is going to blow soon.I want you to stay here and call me when the operation's over.That should just be two more hours or so."Inuyasha fixed him a look,"Okay?"

"Sure,that's fine with me."Miroku said,"I am deeply touched by your compassion for Miss Kagome."He added in his monk voice.

"Yeah.Okay,I gotta go now.I can feel the spell slipping."

"Good luck Inuyasha."Miroku said as Inuyasha dissapeared behind the door.

Inuyasha quickly got into the car and started the ignition.He put his top up and drove the silver car quickly out of the lot.

From the top floor window,a shadow smiled evily,its dark hair shimmered and the ofuda spell in its hand slowly vanished and a feminine voice whispered to herself.

"Now,Inuyasha.I will take away your precious Kagome and I will finally have you.All to myself..."

Inuyasha started to turn into the road that lead him to his house in which he and Kagome lived in.But suddenly he felt a tingle.

"What the fuck?"Inuyasha cried out as he saw his hair turn back into the normal silver he used when he was in the outside world.He mentally cursed himself as his face turned to a blank expression.

`Duh,I've seen this before!This kind of spell is activated when you are within a certain area,and dissapates when you move out of the area.'He rolled his eyes,careful with the driving,`Oh well.This spell wears off in a few hours and cannot be cast in another day,so I might as well kill my time doing something.

He watched as a mall flashed by.`Hmm.What a perfect time to buy stuff!'He smirked to himself,`And get Kagome all fluttered while I'm at it.'Inuyasha was shocked,then shook his head as he parked in a spot.

"I swear I get cheesier by the day.Kagome has turned me all soft."He said to no one in paticular and pressed on the parking brake.

"You know,you're completely right."A voice called out and Inuyasha glanced up to see the face of one of is best buddies,Shimoto.

"Hey,Shim.What's up?"Inuyasha asked coolly,honestly glad to see his friend.

"Oh,you know.Wandering around."He said blankly before adding nervously,"Trying to get my girl an engagement ring..."

Inuyasha looked surprised.Shimoto was a lot like himself.Stubborn,loud-mouthed,and quite loyal not to mention a good guy and a cat hanyou.Oh the irony of a neko and an Inu together.

"Man,I think I speak for both of us when I say,"Inuyasha checked to see if Shimoto's girlfriend Ayame was here,"Girls are sometimes more trouble than they're worth."

Shimoto laughed."Yeah,and don't forget that they're also the most precious things in the world."Inuyasha snorted but said"Yeah,cheesy enough as it is,the feeling is mutual for them."

The guys laughed again about the cliche-ness of it all and walked off,laughing and chatting while they searched for Ayame's perfect ring

Miroku and Sango were sitting chatting with Rin when Miroku suddenly burst out."SHIT!!!!INUYASHA DESTROYED HIS PHONE!HOW AM I SUPPOS-"He was cut off when the people all around him hissed`Shhhhh'.

"Man,this feels like a library,"Miroku noted before saying,"How am I supposed to call him when Kagome wakes up?!?!"Sango and Rin's jaws dropped before shaking their heads.

"Miroku,even for all the perverted things you have done,I'm still going to say that I will miss you when Inuyasha pounds you into a coma that will quickly become a bloody murder."Sango sighed and rolled her eyes.

Miroku wailed,"BUT IT'S NOT MY FAULT!!!...."Another round of `Shhhhh's' sounded.

Rin switched from perky to grief."Sorry,Miroku.But I don't think an angry Inuyasha worried sick about Kagome can be reasoned with.Just another one of nature's impossible things,like breathing underwater without a mask or flying."Rin turned perky again at Miroku's fallen face.

"But don't worry!I'll cover up the news of your death to the media!"Rin and Sango giggled at Miroku's ghastly face."And can I have your Xbox when you're dead?Pleaseeee?"

"You're welcome."Miroku said in a flat tone of voice.It was best not to push the girls while they thought they were on a roll.

Kagome was finally out of surgery.Her peaceful face was enough to say that the operation gone off without a hitch.

"Asumi,give her some pain killers okay?"The surgeon instructed the young nurse,handing her a white bottle as she wheeled Kagome into recovery.

"Okay!"Asumi said.She was happy for Kagome.They had sort of became friends,and she was happy for that little fact.Kagome was a nice girl.

Asumi sighed,pried open her jaw,and dropped the painkillers in.She then proceeded to wash her hands and slowly lock the door behind her while going out.

What she didn't see was the nurse in the other bed in the room,apparently checking on another patient.

Inuyasha and Shimoto were looking at engagement rings in a people's diamond store.There were case upon case to choose from.They finally had to decide between two.

"Inuyasha this is so frustrating!"Shimoto complained,"I don't see how girls can do this hour after hour after hour after-"

Inuyasha raised a hand."I get your point,Shim.Shut up."

Shimoto happily complied.Inuyasha was not nice to be caught in a frustrated mood.NOT AT ALL.Except for Kagome the miracle worker!

They picked a ring and went over to the cashier.The girl looked at them and then at the engagement ring.Her face fell.But then perked up again.

"May I ask which one of you bought this?"She politely asked,but the boys could see her add silently,`So I can ask the other one out?'They decided to humiliate the poor girl.

"Uh yeah.Shimoto there bought this."Inuyasha said,pointing to Shimoto.

The girl's eyes shone."In that case,will you have the pleasure of taking me out,um...."

"Inuyasha"

"-Inuyasha-sama?"Her eyes were shining like the diamonds now.

"Thanks but no."Inuyasha said coolly

"But why not,Inuyasha-sama?"

"Oh,that's only because-"Inuyasha glared at her,"I HAVE A GIRLFRIEND I PROPOSED TO A WEEK AGO!!!!!"Inuyasha all but roared.Girls like this made him sick.

"Oh...but she didn't accept,right?"The girl was persistent,I'll give her that.

The nurse stepped out of the shadows slowly.She was wearing the normal nurses' uniform.Only it was five sizes too small for her.So it ended up as a mini-skirt with a very form-fitting white shirt and worst of all,part of her cleavage was showing.She chuckled to herself as she remembered that an old man had died unnoticably by looking at her `uniform'

She walked over to Kagome's bed and picked up a bottle of painkillers.Revenge was truely sweet.

She popped the whole bottle out.30 pills,and made Kagome swallow them with water.She gulped and it went down her throat.She cackled and went out of the room.

Inuyasha and Shimoto was walking in the parking lot.Shimoto looking happy and Inuyasha grumbling about shameless girls with mental damage.

"Hey,Inu.Can I have your phone for a sec?I have to call my mom and tell her about me proposing."

"Yeah,okay sure.Wait a sec....HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!"Inuyasha screamed angrily and quickly drove off in his car.

Shimoto sweat-dropped."Uh...phone?Inuyasha!!!"

Inuyasha hurried to the hospital.Kagome might have waken.STUPID TWISTED BAKA PERVERT!!!!!He mentally cursed Miroku in his head as he went full speed towards the big building in the distance...
