Chapter Three: Turning Heads

The sun shined right into Kagome's eyes the next morning. Annoyed by the light she groaned as she sat up. She looked up at Sango's alarm clock which said that it was 7:10am, she never woke up that early since she began middle school. Kagome tossed her covers to the side and stood up. She stretched her arms above her head yawning. Today would be a new day for her. A new beginning, a new outlook on how school is gonna be. Although, there is still the chance that nothing will change, but Kagome wanted to see what would happen.

"Guess I have to wake Sango up." She said. She rubbed the back of her neck while walking towards Sango's bed. Sango wasn't there.

"Kagome!!! Hurry up and get down here! Breakfast is getting cold and I still have to do your make up!!" Sango yelled from downstairs.

"Be there in a sec!!" Kagome yelled back.

Kagome went to the bathroom first. She brushed her teeth, washed her face, and combed her hair out so Sango wouldn't have to. After that she went downstairs to the dining room where Sango was currently eating her breakfast.

"I never have time for breakfast in the morning, this is new." Kagome said. She took a seat across from Sango and looked at the plate of eggs, bacon, and biscuits. She wasted no time in digging in.

Sango looked up at Kagome who looked like she was eating for the first time in her life.

"Damn Kagome, do you ever eat?" she asked, arching a brow.

"I eat at school, and sometimes dinner. I never eat breakfast in the morning cause I always run late."

"Gee, no wonder you look like a starving kid." Sango mumbled while chewing her food.

"Huh? You say something?"

Sango smiled. "Nope, not a word, now hurry up."

They finished eating about five minutes later. They then rushed upstairs so Kagome could get her makeup done and still make it to school on time. This would be a first for her, since she's late to school everyday. Sango sat Kagome down on a chair. She walked over to her vanity where she left out the make up she planned on using today. She smirked at herself just knowing that she was going to be happy with the outcome of this makeover.

`Sango, you're a GENIOUS!!' Sango said to herself with a wide grin on her face.

"Oh! Before we do make up, throw on your outfit, you're still in your pajamas!" Sango said, pointing to her closet. "Also, I changed my mind about the pants, I thought that a pair of black flare jeans would look better, I already put it with you shirt and shoes.

"Uh, ok. I'll be quick." Kagome got up and took her outfit from the closet. She walked into the bathroom and got dressed. She came out soon after.

"That's better, the black ones do look better. Now sit down." said Sango. She took the cap off of a red lipstick while waiting for Kagome to sit down.

(A/N: I'm not the type of girl who where's makeup all the time, so let me know if the make up that I choose for Kagome suits her, if not then tell me in a review then I'll edit the makeup part the best I can, but I do hope that I pick things that look good on her. >.<)

When Kagome sat down, Sango walked in front of her and examined her face for a moment. She applied the lipstick to her friend's lips, then asked her to press her lips against a piece of tissue so that the lipstick wouldn't be too red like hookers wear it. It made it a nice fair tone, not too red and slutty looking but in a way that a respectful woman would wear it. Sango put down the lipstick, then picked up some blush that would go good with Kagome's skin color. A light pink color, which would make it look like Kagome wasn't so pale.

She then picked up some black mascara and applied that to Kagome's long eyelashes. Sango placed the mascara down once she was done with it and took a step back to look at Kagome. Sango smiled to herself for a job well done. Kagome didn't need any powder or cover stick because she had fair skin with no blemishes, shine, or pimples, so she didn't bother with it. She pulled Kagome up so she can look at herself in the mirror. Kagome gasped when she saw herself. She never wore make up before and noticed that it does make a difference in how you look.

"All done, how do ya like it?" Sango asked, all proud of herself.

"Uh, it's nice. I like it." Kagome brought her face closer to the mirror to look at herself some more, then turned to look at her friend. "Do you think anyone else will like it? I don't want anybody to think that I'm trying to fit in."

"Of course people will like it. Besides, this make over is so you can fit in, remember? No more name calling, no more stuff in your locker, no more pranks. This should work well." Sango nodded to this.

"I don't know…" Kagome said, look at the floor.

"C'mon girl, what do you got to lose? It's worth a shot, right? Let's go before we're late." Said Sango as she walked out of her room.

Kagome followed, grabbing her and Sango's bags on the way out. She walked out the front door towards her friend's car taking a deep breath.

`Maybe I should have said no to this…' Kagome told herself.

Both of the girls got into the car, then drove off to Oni High School.

Sango pulled into a parking spot in the student parking area. She looked at Kagome who looked as though she was about to have a heart attack. She placed a friendly hand on her friend's shoulder trying to get her not to be so nervous.

"It's gonna be fine, today marks a new start for you."

"I don't think I can do it Sango… I'm too nervous."

"No need to tell me that. Now c'mon, suck it up. Let's go to our first period classes and find out what happens. I'll see you at lunch, good luck and knock em' dead!"

"But Sango…"

"Hey! I'll tell you what, if you get through today without ditching, then we'll go shopping for clothes, my treat. Ok?" said Sango waving around her credit card.

Kagome smiled and straightened up. She put on a pretty smile, picking up her bag.

"Ok Sango, I'll go through with it, but you better take me shopping after school." Kagome said with a smirk curling onto her lips.

"Ok, see you then." Sango said. She gave Kagome a hug, then walked off to class.

Kagome let out a heavy sigh. She walked through the big brown doors of Oni High. Upon entering the school, she received immediate reactions. Everyone in the hallway was staring at her, boys who walked by her whistled, and she heard a few kids say things.

"Oh my God, look at Higurashi." Said one girl.

"Kagome looks hot." Said a boy.

"She actually does have a body underneath those sweaters" said another boy.

Kagome proceeded to go to her first block class. She was smiling and actually looked happy as she walked down the hall.

"Hmph, she's trying to be something she's not." Said a girl who somewhat resembles Kagome.

"Heh, she actually thinks that changing her appearance will change how people will treat her, Kikyo. It wasn't a dumb thing to do." Said a cold and calm voice.

"So, are you going trying to say that she looks good too, Naraku?" Kikyo asked, crossing her arms over her chest.

"She does look good, there's no doubt about that." Naraku said as he watched Kagome walk down the hall.

"We shouldn't let her be happy like this, its fun to get people to make fun of her. I love to see her in pain."

"I know you do Kikyo, but let her have her fun for today." Said the dark haired boy. "We shall do something about it tomorrow."

"Fine, but I don't like this. If anybody thinks that she looks better than me, then I'll ruin her life today." Said the enraged girl.

"Sure, whatever floats your boat."

Kagome enjoyed the fact that the kids in her first period class gave her nice compliments. At first they thought that she was a new student, which Kagome really got a kick out of. She was happy that so far the makeover was doing what Sango said it would do. Sango was mostly always right. Then the bell rang. Kagome got nervous again when she remembered that she still had to go through second period, and Inuyasha.

`It'll go as smoothly as first period, no sweat. Right? Oh, I hope so…' she said to herself.

Kagome walked in front of the door to her second period class. She swallowed hard, praying that maybe Inuyasha was absent like she does everyday. She slowly turned the doorknob, then proceeded to walk in, hoping that this would be ok.
