The Black Diamond
Chapter Five
Kagome noticed that Inuyasha, Miroku and Sango were unusually quiet later on that day. The large dog, who she had named Bullet, never really left her side. When they walked, her hand rested on Bullet's back, and if they climbed a hill, he was always behind her. He was like her new protector, or bodyguard, or something.
Kagome also noticed that the formerly mentioned pirates were also extremely jumpy. At every little sound, their heads whipped around, like they were expecting something to jump out and attack.
They were, of course, but she didn't know that.
Their rest wasn't very restful for the crew, what with their captain, first mate and…another very important crew member arguing in hushed voices away from the group.
Every once in a while, they would hear a loud 'No!' or cursing coming from their beloved captain. A few of the more timid pirates, as timid as they got, actually scooted in the opposite direction. As Inuyasha got more and more angry, even the crew members who usually stood up to Inuyasha even in his fury were getting nervous.
Kagome was perplexed by this. She asked Jon, the cook, why everyone was getting so antsy. He gave her a strange look, which was either for the nature of the question or the fact that she used the word antsy to describe a bunch of cold blooded killers, she couldn't figure which.
"Inuyasha can get…really angry sometimes." He said. Kagome frowned.
"Yea, I know that, he's gotten mad before, but y'all weren't runnin' away."
"Oi! We aren't runnin!" Jon said in indignation. Then he snorted. "An if you think you seen him really mad, you wrong. You ain't seen nothing yet. An I'm hopin you never have to…"
