Chapter 15: Ice cream

Amber: YANKEES how you doin oh yeah there's only one team in New York so how you doin? Woo hoo I love my boys!

Inuyasha: Amber shut the hell up there could be Red Sox fans reading

Sesshomaru: She didn't care when she was standing in the middle of a group of them I don't think she cares now.

Amber: Damn skippy I love my boys and very proud of it oh if only we still had Tino ::Sniffles::

Sango: ((roles her eyes)) please we got the eye candy get over it Tino moved on, that was SOOO long ago

Amber: Too bad I still miss him the team just isn't the same

Sango: Whatever can we get on with it now people don't care about your obsession with them and believe me people it's an obsession

Inuyasha: Yeah she blasts this song `Yankees how you doin' by Joey Baseballs down the street as she drives. Now this would be normal if she still lived in New York, but Amber you don't.

Sesshomaru: May we continue now?

Kagome woke up to find herself still in Sesshomarus' arms. She figured the best way to make it up to him was to start with a breakfast in bed since she knew he loved her cooking.

She was halfway out from his arms when he woke up and pulled her back to him. "Where are you going?" He whispered in her ear, sending chills down her spine.

"I was going to surprise you with breakfast," Kagome admitted, turning in his arms to face him.

He kissed the tip of her nose, "surprise me later," he snuggled his head in the crook of her neck.

She giggled, he was just too cute, "well now it's not a surprise anymore now is it."

"Don't care," he yawned, "just don't leave, it's Saturday."

"If you insist," she said, stroking her hand through his hair. "Go back to sleep, I promise not to try and escape."

"You wouldn't make it out the room," Sesshomaru mumbled beginning to drift back to sleep.

"Sure, sweet dreams," she whispered.

He nodded into her shoulder and kissed her collarbone.

`How did I get this second chance?' Kagome asked herself as she lightly traced the outline of his face, memorizing every last detail.

Later that day everyone went to Scoops for some ice cream. It was the local ice cream shop, decorated in the 60's style and was a nice break from modern day life. It was getting a little too cold for ice cream and soon they would have to switch over to the hot cocoa and hot deserts they sold. But today just felt like an ice cream day.

Everyone felt the tension radiating around Kagome. She was happy to be back around them but still nervous that she might say or do something to fuck it all up.

Kagome looked up from her sundae when she saw an extra spoon dive into her melting ice cream. She raised an eyebrow at Sesshomaru as he put her ice cream in his mouth.

He smiled at her and took the spoon out of his mouth. "You looked like you needed help with that," he told her as he put his arm around her and took another spoonful of her sundae.

She smiled at him and began to eat her sundae with him.

Sango, who was sitting across from them in Miroku's lap, looked over at Inuyasha and winked. He smiled at her.

Sesshomaru and Kagome oblivious to everyone else started a small conversation in each other's ears.

"Relax, have fun," Sesshomaru whispered into her ear

She relaxed slightly, but not much, she felt guilty, how could they all take her back like this, so forgiving and understanding?

He was becoming frustrated; he just wanted to move on, to forget about what happened. At first he didn't think he would be able to but last night, as he lay in his bed so tired yet unable to sleep he realized he missed her, craved her. He had to try, to see if he could just move on, anything to be engulfed in her warmth, to feel her silky skin against his own.

When he entered her room doubt consumed him. What if she didn't want him there, what if it was all a cruel joke? He stood by her bed, frozen for what seemed like hours, trying to get the courage to lie down on the bed, to find out if he was wanted.

His mind was made up for him when he heard her whisper his name. He look at her, she was sound asleep. Joy and relief filled his heart, the longing he heard in her voice, the love, pushed all he doubts away. Even though she was asleep he knew she had missed him as much as he had her. With out hesitation he slid into bed wrapping his arms around her.

He felt her tense and for a moment he thought he made a mistake, that she didn't want him. But then, just as he was about to pull away from her, she kissed his arm, wrapping his warmth around her like one would a blanket.

At that moment he decided he didn't care what had happened, she was here now. But, it was apparent now that her guilt wasn't going to go away so easily.

Kagome eeped in surprise as she was lifted from her seat and placed in Sesshomaru's lap. He wrapped his arms around her waist pulling her closely to him. He discretely gave her butterfly kisses on the nape of her neck, willing the tension and worry to leave her body and mind with each gentle caress of his lips.

It worked, her body melted into his arms, her mind focusing on the light brush of his lips against her skin.

Miroku wore a Cheshire cat smile on his face, "Sango, Inuyasha we should go we have a few loose ends to tie up." Miroku said.

"Yeah," Sango agreed, getting out of Mirokus' hold and putting on her jacket. "Kagome call me later I have something to talk to you about."

She nodded slightly in response. They all said their goodbyes and then left Sesshomaru alone with Kagome.

He started nibbling on her collarbone; she bit back a moan. `Oh cruel torture,' she thought to herself.

"Lets go for a walk," Sesshomaru suggested huskily.

"Alright," she said but didn't move from his lap.

He laughed it was melodic and very masculine, the kind the said he knew what kind of effect he had on her.

In retaliation she wiggled in his lap almost instantly feeling his response rise against her.

"We could do other things instead," he whispered in her ear, lightly flicking her earlobe.

She giggled and turned her head to give him a kiss. But she stopped all movement; all the color in her face drained away and the laughter flew from her body in a terrified rush. Behind Sesshomaru stood Kagura, her eyes burning with rage.

Concerned Sesshomaru followed her gaze to find Kagura, he bit back an inhuman growl, and he wanted to turn his back on her but knew it was not a good idea.

Kagome stood pulling Sesshomaru up as well and behind her, trying to keep as much distance as possible between Kagura and Sesshomaru.

"I thought we had a deal?" Kagura said venom dripping from her voice.

"Sorry plans changed, I wont give him up." Kagome told her.

"His funeral and possibly yours, you're too much of a nuisance for us." Kagura said.

"It won't be anyone's funeral, stay away from us," Kagome told her.

Kagura noticed everyone giving them weird looks and realized their conversation had been over heard. "Watch your back," she threw over her shoulder as she left them.

Kagome was trembling, Sesshomaru took her in his arms and led her outside, making sure Kagura wasn't waiting for them, he guided her to the park. He brought her to her favorite spot and sat down leaning against the bark of their tree, cradling her in his arms. She cried into his chest.

After awhile the tears stopped and the trembling soon disappeared as well. She looked up into the branches, "I'm sorry Sessh."

"What for?" Sesshomaru asked.

"For everything, for ever being controlled by them, for putting you in danger, for betr-"

He cut her off by covering her lips with his. "You did what you thought was best, I understand that now, I don't think you betrayed me love. You didn't put me in danger, Kagura and Kikyo put us in danger, they are insane, none of this is your fault." He stared into her beautiful eyes.

"But they want to kill you, if I had just stayed away you would be completely safe." Kagome said.

He was taken back by this was she going to leave him again, no, no she promised. "Do you regret coming back?" His voice was very neutral.

"No! Oh God I'm screwing this up." She pulled at her hair in frustration. "Sessh I love you too much to let you go with out a fight. When we were apart it was hell, and I don't want to go through that ever again. I am just afraid that one day we will be separated and it will be… permanent." She confessed

He let out a breath he'd been holding, releasing all the tension in his body with it, she didn't want to leave oh thank the heavens. "Nothing will happen to us, we'll get through this and Kagura will be nothing more than a bad memory, nothing can take me away from you."

She smiled at him, "I love you."

He traced her check to her jaw, "I love you too, always."

"Always," she echoed, always, it would never end they wouldn't let it, unlike Adam and Eve they wouldn't leave paradise; they'd fight for it.

Sesshomaru: very well don't worry there is always next year remember we must share the world series they shouldn't be in every series

Amber: I guess oh well next year then they better kick some butt

Sesshomaru: ((chuckles)) I am sure they will
