Ch. 1 The Beginning

 

Kagome woke with a yawn to find herself in Sesshoumaru's house. `Oh that's right is slept over last night,' thought Kagome as she glanced around. She rolled off the guest bed and went to the guest bathroom to wash up before breakfast. As Kagome walked out of the bathroom, still wearing her green silk PJ's, she found Sesshoumaru sitting on her bed.

 

“Kagome,” Sesshoumaru greeted quietly.

 

“Good morning Sesshy,” chirped Kagome running up and hugging Sesshoumaru, who was still wearing his white pajama pants. “Someone's been working out,” Kagome added, after pulling away from the hug to feel Sesshoumaru's biceps.

 

“Mhm” Sesshoumaru responded simply.

 

“Come on, can we skip breakfast, I wanna swim with you” said Kagome giving him puppy dog eyes.

 

“That is fine,” nodded Sesshoumaru as he left the room.

 

Kagome got changed into her lime green bikini with and apple on the chest to the right and on the back of the bottoms. She turned and ran down the stairs and around a few doorways before getting to the pool.

 

The manor on the outside was white with a large silver gate extending across the perimeter, with a drive way that extended down a long hill. The garage was built under the foundation and was not visible to the naked eye. The inside layout went as follows: when one walked, in there was a foyer that had a platform where you would leave your shoes, as the typical Japanese house would. Then about five feet down the main hall there was a door to the immediate right that led to their study. The study included one desk based against the left wall with a large lamp decorating the bland surface. The walls were lined with book cases and there were two large bay windows that complimented the fine library turned study facing out towards the driveway. The beautiful hard wood floors were dashed with an oak finish. There was also a sitting area with two black leather couches and a matching pair of leather armchairs, end tables adorning the ends.

 

When one walked out of the room, they would come to a great room, painted a beautiful shade of white with a plushy tan carpet that. It wasn't much but it had three leather couches placed in an almost complete square in front of a sixty four inch television, decked out with a surround sound system that could shake the giant house. On the right wall there was one bay window that had a ledge large enough to sit on, the curtains restrained by oriental black ties. On the adjacent wall, there was a beautifully sculpted fireplace. On the left wall there was an opening that leads to the open dining room. The dining room was decorated in accordance to a Zen theme. The layout was more of bar, hosting a breakfast bar as the center table, stools that greeted the sandblasted wood of the same shade, a general set up with kitchen utilities and a real bar in the far back corner. The bar was dyed a sharp black, contrasting beautifully with the polished white stools.

 

The elegant stairwell that wound from the first floor to the second began in the living room, lined with a beautiful white carpet and let to a balcony that loomed over the foyer of the house. Greeting the overlook of the second story was two long hallways that extended on either side. Turning to the right, one would find two doors on the east wing of the house. The first of which belonged to Sesshoumaru and the second was a guest room, of which Kagome usually resided on her over night stays, connected to Sesshoumaru's room by a shared bathroom. Gracing the end of the hallway was a beautiful terrace that was opened by double French doors. Gracing the terrace, there were a few small detailed end tables along with reclining chairs and a double seated swing.

 

Returning to the landing of the stairwell, the west of the hallway was graced by four other rooms. The first of which was another guest room that Sesshoumaru's father had, while still in life, insisted upon in case of extra company. Immediately following that room was a small bathroom that the guest bedroom had intimate access to. The other door at the end of the hallway led to a stairwell that reconnected the second and first stories. This stairwell, however, brought its travelers to the basement door.

 

Descending down the steps, one would come to find two huge extra rooms that were finished by Sesshoumaru's father himself. The first that they entered into was a gymnasium. Having enough equipment to make a college hide their face in shame, Sesshoumaru was able to gain those beautiful biceps by any means of this monstrosity. There was the basic weight lifting material, followed by a padded dojo where Sesshoumaru had learned to spar. To the left was crafted to be a gymnastic training center, that had been updated more recently for Kagome's sake more so then anyone else's. The units included were a balance beam, a set of uneven bars, and a horse. So far the balance beam had received the most wear and tear of all the equipment.

 

If they were to continue through the gym and up another set of stairs, heading towards the backyard, they would emerge in what some could call Nirvana. The room was made of a shatterproof glass, and acted like a Florida Sunroom only accessible from the basement and the direct backyard. What made this room heavenly, however, was the Olympic sized swimming pool that had been installed three years prior. The sun was magnetized by the glass, keeping the room warm in almost all climate changes. And when nature didn't work, the built in heaters did. The roof was revolutionary, and was based on a track system. At anyone's whim, the roof would open, not much unlike a convertible's top, granting the inhabitants a tranquil day under the sun.

 

If they were to exit into the fenced in back yard, they would surface on the old shrine grounds, with the infamous Goshinkboku tree not more then a hundred yards away.

 

As Kagome arrived at the pool, she grabbed a towel from the shelf and spread it out over the marbled floor that lined the `Nirvana room', as she had so rightfully dubbed it. Her top priority was to gain some color to her pale complexion. Having not more then five minutes of fun under the open sun, she heard footsteps to her immediate right. “Hi Fluffy,” Kagome greeted without opening her eyes.

 

 

“Fluffy,” Sesshoumaru snorted in something resembling embarrassment. Kagome knew without looking that he was flustered. His attitude seemed to snap in after that moment. “Where did you get Fluffy from?”

 

“It fits. If you don't believe, ask your boa,” Kagome retorted with a teasing tone.

 

Sesshoumaru simply sighed loudly. He was done telling her that it wasn't a boa but a ceremonial…err…ball of fluff? Hell, he wasn't sure himself but somehow, he didn't care about her nicknames for him. Slipping into the warm water, he sighed in relief. The water was a beautiful thing for the amounted tension that welled in his body. Taking a side glance at the tanning girl, a rotten plan slowly wound its way around his brain. Without paying much attention, Sesshoumaru turned and ran his hand through the water with enough speed to create a wave large enough to douse the tanning vixen.

 

Kagome jumped out of her skin the second the water came in contact with her skin. She should have known he was going to do something like that. He always did. Getting to her feet, she ran towards the pool and jumped in, hoping to settle with retribution by getting his hair wet.

 

When she popped up from the water and looked around, she couldn't find Sesshoumaru anywhere. However, knowing Sesshoumaru for eight years has its advantages, she felt as if she knew everything about him. And with that, came the understanding that he probably evaded her splash by getting out of the pool. As she slowly looked around, two strong arms ensnared her waist.

 

Kagome didn't scream or frighten at all, for that matter. His arms around her waist felt too wonderful to shy away from. Sesshoumaru had done this once before, with the arms around the waist, but that in itself was a completely different situation. She had just won a diving award in some semi-finals and it was provoked. This however, wasn't; but she couldn't deny how wonderful it felt. For the past two years, since that incident, she had harbored a deep rooted crush for the six foot giant.

 

Kagome always loved when Sesshoumaru held her; it always felt so right in his arms. It was one of the reasons why she loved staying the night at the Tashio manor. On some nights when she was having a bad dream, Sesshoumaru would enter her room and hold her until she calmed down and would fall back asleep. Those were the nights that she craved.

 

“Kagome, I must tell you something,” Sesshoumaru commented suddenly, watching her eyes drift off to a world he wasn't sure he wanted to indulge in. He had smelt that beautiful scent that wrapped around her spike and he chided himself for wanting to laugh. `Why do I indulge her in these fantasies? Her scent drives me insane. Why am I stuck treating this like a high school crush?' thought Sesshoumaru. In a brash decision, he picked up Kagome and made a grand exit from the pool, carrying her to the two towels that lay on the side of the lawn chairs.

 

He set Kagome down next to the chair and he stepped back towards the cement to shake himself dry; the true style of the Inu youkai. Shaking water off felt so debasing, but hell, it got a great reaction from Kagome. Seconds later Sesshoumaru returned, dry as the sun itself.

 

“Okay, what do you have to tell me” asked Kagome shivering in anticipation. Maybe he was going to ask her out. Maybe he was finally getting his head out of his ass and noticing how much she cared.

 

Sesshoumaru strode over to where Kagome stood, with a towel wrapped around her, and then picked her up and set her in his lap on the couch.

 

“As you know, my father died when I was young, and soon after that my mother passed as well. I got most of the money from the family trust, and that's how I was able to afford this house. But what you don't know is that my father and mother actually got divorced before they died. It was a messy situation that I honestly hate him for.” Taking a deep breath, he forced himself to continue. Speaking of his parents was rough for him, but this had to be said. Life was changing, and Kagome had to understand why.

 

“After they were divorced, my father married another woman, a human for that matter, and before he passed on, he sired himself another son. That pain in the ass is named is InuYasha. He and his mother lived for awhile at the house, but they got crap from the local population about InuYasha's mixed heritage.” He hated this part. He hated his father for forcing a child to do this on his own, and hell, for leaving him by himself. With a sigh, he shifted his eyes to glance out the window.

 

“Soon after that, InuYasha came home one day to find his mother dead on the kitchen floor; she had swallowed some type of poison. Apparently, InuYasha was more of a burden then death, so she escaped. InuYasha tried living on his own but couldn't manage it.” And here was the kicker that was going to change everything.

 

“So he's coming to live with me. He'll be moving in tomorrow morning. If you want, you can stay here to meet him but I warn you from what I heard: he's mean, arrogant, cares for no one but himself, and is used to getting what he wants,” Sesshoumaru added coldly. He wasn't looking forward to this, but he owed it to his father.

 

“Wow, I would never have known! All right, I want to stay the night to meet him,” Kagome decided abruptly.

 

“Won't your mother care that you're staying here for two nights in a row?” asked Sesshoumaru.

All of a sudden Kagome broke down crying for no reason at all. “What is wrong Kagome” asked Sesshoumaru.

 

“I thought you knew… while you were gone away somewhere 2 months ago my mother was put in the hospital… a week or so after that she died leaving me with my little brother Souta… but since Im only 19 and need to do something with my life my aunt took him… so I can do anything anytime I want but here's the problem the apartment I moved into… the taxes on it are going up and I really don't have that good of a job, in fact I don't have a job at all… so either Im forced to go back to the shrine with my aunt or move somewhere else” said Kagome crying into Sesshoumaru 's chest.

 

“You can stay here that way you can keep me and Inuyasha from ripping each other apart” said Sesshoumaru with a smile.

 

“You really mean it I can move in here it wouldn't be any trouble… but I would feel bad eating all your food and raising all your taxes” said Kagome.

 

“Do not worry about that when my father when he died left enough money to buy Japan and America along with enough food to feed a family of 100” said Sesshoumaru. Kagome just stared at him like he was crazy but he nodded his head.

 

“Let us go get the stuff from your apartment and you can choose a room to furnish as your own” said Sesshoumaru.

 

“Any bedroom even the one as big as yours next to yours” asked Kagome. “Even that one” said Sesshoumaru.

 

“Yeah then what are we waiting for let's go get my stuff” said Kagome jumping up from Sesshoumaru's lap.

 

Sesshoumaru got in the largest car he could find it was a hummer that was silver and Kagome got into the green convertible she drove over here with that she got as a gift from Sesshoumaru on her 19th birthday.

 

`Hey my 20th birthday is coming up wonder what he will get me this year' thought Kagome.

 

They arrived at Kagome's apartment and got to work. Kagome had some large boxes that she used when she moved and filled those with clothing and everything else she could fit. She put those boxes in her car. Then Sesshoumaru packed up all of the furniture except the bed that came with the apartment and hauled it to his own car. With everything gone from her apartment they got back in there cars and went back to the other house. First they unloaded all of her boxes and put away the clothing in the large walk in closet.

 

Then Sesshoumaru brought in the furniture and put it in the one half of the room towards the bed. Kagome's room was set up that when you opened the door there was a living room type area then a door in the back that was kind of hidden where the bedroom was. Inside the bedroom there was a door on the western wall that leads into a bathroom that was connected with Sesshoumaru's room. Back in the bedroom part of her room there was a bed up against the north wall that had 2 windows one on each side of the king sized bed. Then Kagome had her closet on the eastern wall along with her dresser and a few shelves and pictures on the wall. Her bed was large and fluffy when you laid in it you sunk in; the sheets and pillows were made of silk. Then the bed had a golden canopy that could open and shut.

 

“Thank you so much Sesshy” said Kagome leaping into his arms.

 

The living room part of her room however had a big screen TV on the wall hooked up to an awesome stereo system with a couch in front of it. Then there was a fire place. The entire floor in her room was wood and the walls were a teal color. There was a large rug on the floor, a desk, a book shelf and a few plants scattered around the room.

 

“You are welcome” said Sesshoumaru. “Can we have lunch now Im starving” said Kagome.

 

Sesshoumaru looked at the clock on the wall and nodded. Kagome followed Sesshoumaru out of the room and to the dining room. After they were done eating they went upstairs the guest room a bit smaller then her own but in the same form.

 

“When Inuyasha gets here would you mind showing him to this room” asked Sesshoumaru.

 

“Sure but isn't he coming tomorrow” asked Kagome.

 

“It seems he got here early” said Sesshoumaru just before the door bell rang.

 

“Wow your good” said Kagome running to get the door. She opened it to find a boy wearing tan cargo pants and a red wife beater that showed off his muscles.

 

“Uh… hi Im Kagome Im one of Sesshoumaru's friends” said Kagome. “Inuyasha” said Inuyasha.

 

He walked into the house and shut the door with his foot. Kagome lead him up to his room and he dropped off his suet case.

 

“So I take it there's a swimming pool around here somewhere or do you just wear bikinis for fun” asked Inuyasha looking over her attire.

 

“There's a pool in the back and Im in the mood to swim again what about you boys” asked Kagome blushing.

 

“Whatever” said Inuyasha? “Mhm” said Sesshoumaru walking out of the room.

 

Inuyasha got changed quickly into a pair of blood red swim trunks and then found Kagome waiting outside his room. Sesshoumaru had already sped off to the pool and Kagome waited for Inuyasha so she could show him the house.

 

“Hey you work out to” said Kagome seeing Inuyasha. “We have a dojo and a gym in the basement” said Kagome.

 

“We?” asked Inuyasha. “Me and Sesshoumaru, were just friends, things happened to my family and I moved in here” said Kagome.

 

“Oh I know what if feels like believe me” said Inuyasha. “I know you do Sesshy told me everything” said Kagome.

 

“Feh, I've heard from rumors that Sesshoumaru doesn't show much emotion” said Inuyasha.

 

“Well you got to get to know him he's very protective” said Kagome.

 

They finally reached the pool and Kagome ran to the diving board. She looked around for Sesshoumaru and found him swimming on the other side of the pool. Kagome dived in the water popping up next to Sesshoumaru.

 

“Stop working out and have some fun” said Kagome. All of a sudden she heard someone scream “CANNON BALL” and she heard a splash. But just in time she felt like she was flying out of the way of the tidal wave. Kagome opened her eyes to see she was on a cloud in Sesshoumaru's arms.

 

Inuyasha had just jumped out of the water grinning like an idiot. “Thanks Sesshy” said Kagome hugging him and jumping off the cloud back into the pool. While Kagome was underwater Inuyasha shouted up “stay away from her she's mine”.

 

“Yours you only just met her she's mine” growled Sesshoumaru. “Then its war the first one to win Kagome's heart she's there's” said Inuyasha.

 

“Fair enough” said Sesshoumaru as Kagome's head popped out of the water. “Hey why are you both staring at me” asked Kagome. When no one answered her she said “ok guys are weird” and went back to swimming. `He he' thought Kagome.

 

“Hey Sesshy do you have a mat anywhere” asked Kagome. “One you can put outside or the one in the dojo stuck to the floor” asked Sesshoumaru. “Then one you can put outside” said Kagome.

 

“On the wall” said Sesshoumaru pointing to a wall.

 

Kagome walked up to is and took it off then dragged it outside and set it up. The way she set it up both boys could see her thought the glass. She sat down on the mat and stretched. Then she did a back bend into a hand stand then down into a forward roll. Then she started to do cartwheel after cartwheel. Then a bunch of other flips and turns. The boys just gawked at her that is until she started dancing to the beat in her own head, and then they were drooling. Kagome looked over and just laughed at the looks on there faces and stopped dancing. Next she did the splits all the way down and the brought her legs together only to start in a back roll but actually go up to a hand stand and land on her feet after doing a back bend.

 

“Kagome I never you did gymnastics” said Sesshoumaru `I just thought you made me buy all that equipment for fun' he thought walking outside with Inuyasha following her.

 

“You didn't well I couldn't blame you I haven't done it in like 5 years Im surprised I even bend that way anymore” said Kagome.

 

“That was good thought” said Inuyasha. “Thanks I made it up on the spot” said Kagome. “You what, it looked like part of a routine it was so good” said Inuyasha.

 

“You made it up on the spot” snorted Sesshoumaru. “Yep” said Kagome.

 

“What do you want to do now you can't just gawk at me all day” asked Kagome.

 

“Why not” asked Inuyasha. “Because” said Kagome blushing. “We could go to the dojo” said Sesshoumaru. “Ok I have a feeling that Im gonna sleep well tonight” said Kagome laughing and following Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha to the dojo.

 

They walked in and Sesshoumaru flipped on the light. Inuyasha gawked and Kagome just stared at him it was nothing she hadn't seen before.

 

“Im beginning to like this place” said Inuyasha. “You better it's our home from now on” said Kagome. “Good point” said Inuyasha running towards the side of the dojo and kicking the punching bag.

 

Kagome just laughed and did a cartwheel that turned into a flying kick on a mat on the wall. Sesshoumaru was busy flashing his poison whip at the air. Kagome started to stretch her hands and legs out then her arms.

 

“Hey Sesshy I need help with something come here my leg is tight” said Kagome. “What do need assistance with” asked Sesshoumaru.

 

“Just stand there and let me put my foot on your shoulder” said Kagome. “Mhm” said Sesshoumaru.

 

Kagome put her foot on his shoulder and then put her hands on the ground like she was doing a push up except sideways.

 

“Oh yeah the girl can bend” said Kagome. “How do you do that” asked Inuyasha. “Thanks Sesshy, I don't know I just had years of practice” said Kagome taking her foot off of Sesshoumaru's shoulder.

 

“Hmmm…” said Sesshoumaru going back to firing his whip.

 

Kagome grabbed a bow and 3 arrows. She held the bow in one hand and the arrows in another and did a flip and shot two and they just missed the center of the bulls' eye. Both boys looked in shock.

 

“Uhhh… Im getting worse and worse at this every time I try it sucks I can't use my miko powers when I do the flip and if I don't use them then I can't hit the mark” said Kagome leaning up against the wall and sliding down it.
