The Call
Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha, he is the sole property of Rumiko Takahashi, Shogakukan, Yomiuri TV, Sunrise and Viz. The only thing I own is the plot of this story, which in itself, is not entirely original.
“Fuck you! See if I care this time! I don't need you!” These words echoed in her head again as she yelled them. It seemed that she was often repeating herself lately. She could even echo his words back to him before he even said them, she knew what was coming this time. Every time. All the time. It was the same for the last few months.
“Fuck you, bitch! I'm tellin' ya it ain't like that! We're just goin' out for drinks. That's all. Have some fait, will ya?”
Yeah. Right.
“Do what you want. I don't care.”
The door slammed the second after and she was alone, again, left to her thoughts in the empty house. The sound of the T.V. that blared in the background was a painful reminder about how alone she actually was, lately. With Inuyasha gone she was likely to be the only one home for the next few hours. Sesshomaru would be staying late at work, again, as he mentioned before that things had gotten behind. Making dinner for him as well as herself would be pointless, it'd be cold by the time he got home and she wouldn't be able to enjoy a decent meal on her own.
She made her way into the kitchen, mentally going over what was in the fridge and what would make the best dinner for one person that didn't take too much effort into seeming like a real dinner. But, there was nothing. Friday nights were the nights they usually went out to winnder, but, normalcy was slowly leaving her life and she could no longer really expect that her Fridays would remain the same. Her gaze drifted down to her hand to the ring that now seemed to weigh heavily on her finger as she walked into the kitchen. She wasted no time in removing it and tossing it onto the tame for the third time in the last two months. And this time she vowed she would not take that ring back into her finger again.
Aimlessly she drifted to the fridge, opening it up only to find herself staring blankly at the contents as he thoughts began to wander back to the times before the fights. They had once been happy, sharing laugher and not heated words. Sharing kisses and sweet words that tended to lean into whispers of sweet nothings. They were best friends and as close as lovers could be, perhaps even closer. They had always seemed to be bound together, then. No one was surprised when the proposal came. No one was surprised when she had said yes. Everyone thought their happily ever after would come. They were predictable. Maybe that is where things had really started to go wrong...
But, months later he asked her to move in with him (and his brother, seeing as they shared one large house together) this came as no surprise to anyone. And there were no more surprises when she happily accepted. She was certain, then, that they would be forever.
Only, no one had expected that the cold Sesshomaru and she would become friends quite quickly. Their relationship only remained professional at most times, only dealing in conversations that involved work and plans for the future. Inuyasha grew jealous at the sudden attention his brother paid to his woman which caused the first strains to begin in their relationship. It only grew worse when Sesshomaru treated her softly, as what was proper to treat any woman by any normal man. It soon became that Sesshomaru was one of her closest friends, one she could come for to truthful answers when there were problems. He would be the one to point out the mistakes she made and offer a blunt solution for how to solve them. He and Sango were the only two people who she felt she could trust with her problems, to be the ear that she needed when it came time. And she, too, hoped that she could offer the same service in return.
They were the only two who knew why the fights grew more frequent as of late, why she often thought of leaving the man she had claimed to love so dearly. No one else could be trusted with this as he often played a two-faced game for the others, playing the faithful boyfriend. And, to tell the truth... She never ever wanted to consider leaving him, but, she was growing close to becoming a submissive housewife who let her husband run around with a mistress... Because everything led back to her.
Kikyou.
One day, out of the blue, in walked Kikyou. She aws the woman who ripped Inuyasha's hear out when she left him for some other man. And from her own conclusions, she deduced that things had gone sour with the man when he grew bored with her. So, looking for someone who would follow her blindly and spoil her richly, she sought out Inuyasha. Kikyou then came to her, offering a false friendship that she only accepted because of Inuyasha's pleading. She was out of the way, then, seen as a friend to the woman by Inuyasha, he could come to her beck and call without a worry. She felt no hurt when she found out of the betrayal on both parts... He promised it was nothing but enjoying the company of a friend, getting a few drinks and that was it. But he often came home smelling of smoke and sex.
When he was gone, she often wondered why he would leave her. But, she came to realize she was second best... And why they came to date in the first place. The one thing that connected herself and Kikyou was the fact that they could be considered twins. They had similar looks, black hair and blue eyes that only differed in single shade. She hated it to the point that she would avoid staring at herself in the mirror. It was pathetic that sometimes she could not stand her own face... Though, they did have their more obvious differences. Kikyou was like a model, long legs, nice arms, curvaceous hips, and full breasts. When these aspects were compared she looked so modest next to her, it was no wonder than any man would leave her for Kikyou.
Shaking herself from her thoughts suddenly, she reached into the fridge and pulled out a bottle of beer before closing the door. She didn't hesitate to crack it open and take a large swig from it. A slight smirk as she turned her attention to the windows in the kitchen, staring at them with a slight frown.
“Pathetic.” A snort of laughter as she spoke to herself.
Another swig followed the first and she made her way to the living room. She settled onto the couch then used her free hand to find the remote and turn off the T.V. Reaching for her cellphone once that was done, she scrolled through her texts with a frown. Nothing she wanted to see there, old messages and bullshit. All were deleted with a push of a button before her fingers moved across the number pad in a practiced manner to dial Sango's number.
The phone rang once... Twice... A third time before the phone spoke with an automated message.
“Fuck. Sango... Never mind, you're probably out with Miroku.” She clicked the phone off after that, leaving a brief message that she doubted her friend would hear any time soon. She stared blankly at the screen of her phone, attemption another plan of action. The beer was lifted to her lips but she found it lacking in liquid. A sigh of frustration was released before she pushed herself up from the couch to get another, not making any decisions until she had another bottle in her hand. A repeat of before, bottle opened and a deep swig taken before wandering back to the couch and settling down again.
She had decided what she was going to do now, focusing only on the hours to come.
---
Work was particularly boring today, not that it wasn't every other day, the fact was: he was staying late, again, which made the fact much more annoying. He had no one to come home to, this made staying late less bothersome as he wouldn't have to worry about his wife or girlfriend making him dinner and not showing on time. He could just focus on his work without making phone calls of apology and hearing her disappointed tone when he told her the knews. Because the last week had proven to be difficult, he had stayed every day so far and did not want to burden a woman with that. His departments had all fallen into ruins - the reason for his ever pressing need to stay behind - because of this he was required to check through the records from the last year and find where the shirking had began.
He never noticed the soft beep of the intercom before a voice piped up. “Ah... Mr. Taisho, sir... A few of the employees were wondering if they might head home now... Most of their work is finished.” A pause, “I checked.”
Sesshomaru paused in his work, glancing down to the watch on his wrist to check the time. He sighed, three hours late... He wasn't a cruel boss as to keep his employees from their families on a Friday night, that is obviously where most of their mind's would be while at work, anyway and so they normally closed early on Fridays. Time had slipped by too quickly for him to have noticed that the time had gone past when he had intended on letting them go. He was, though, thankful that none of them had come to annoy him about it being late and allowed him to his work.
He pressed the intercom button with a single finger while the other lifted to massage at his temple. “Yes, Rin. Tell them thank you for the hard work and send them home.” He released the button and leaned back in his chair, looking to the papwers on his desk with a frown. It would be a long night if he intended on finishing it all before returning to the office on Monday.
Soon the sound of cars leaving began to fill the parking lot and becoming the background noise until one by one, he was the only one left on the property. His brows drew into a tighter frown as he considered a single paper on the pile of many more, taking it into his hand and looking at it blankly. He thought on his possibilities again: returning to a cold empty house with no one to greet him, no nothing to provide relief (but the TV) on such a stressful day. Or, finishing all his work to allow himself to resume his previous tasks on Monday, and no longer being so completely behind that he wouldn't need to stay late one more time. Work was the better option, he was not a lazy man and he could see to making sure everything was done before he left this office.
His time was well spent, at least, despite the occasional wandering thoughts to things unrelated to the task at hand and that need not pull his attention away. But still, he was prone to idle thinking that words sparked up and tended to explore the possibilities before returning to his task.
The hours passed in a somewhat seamless way that with all the work that he had done, it felt shorter than what had actually come to pass. He paused to clance again at his watch, considering the options once again. Now was a prime time to head home, hardly any traffic so that he could be there in a matter of minutes. But, everything was almost done... He could stay another hour and be all caught up for Monday with no more need for the catchup game.
Any further thoughts were interrupted by the the ringing of his cellphone. No one usually called him at this time of night, knowing when he was staying late. He didn't bother to check the number, assuming it was either a wrong number or somone trying to sell him something. A shake of his head as he flipped the phone open and placed it to his ear. He had little time to speak as another voice filled his ear.
“I need you...”
His heart had stopped. Hell, it skipped a beat. Never had he thought he, of all people, would hear such a thing. Not tonight, and not ever. He was never expecting such the rush of excitement that it had given him. There was no way for him to draw a proper conclusion to the statement made to him, no way that he could assume what it had actually meant... And, he never figured that he would be the one she would call with such a statement.
“Kagome?”
But, the line was dead, no response and only the dail tone filled his ear shortly after. He wasted no time debating now, whether or not to stay or go was no longer an option. The rest of his worke would wait until Monday. With no hesitation, the papers were shoved into his desk with little care for organization before he headed straight out the door. He paused only to lock the door from behind him before he rushed out the front doors with another pause only to lock them as well.
It was with quick diligence that he made it into his car as quickly as he had, buckled, and started with a practiced ease that may have shocked someone if they had been arround. No time was wasted as he finally took off towards home, with little care for parking lot regulations on speed. Many things ran through his head, replaying the short phone call but keeping a professional expression upon his face. He would not assume anything until he was home, being diligent with the fact that it could mean something entirely different than how it sounded.
---
He arrived home in what could be record time, pushing the speed limit as much as he could without driving wrecklessly and causing danger to those around him. It would do him no good to be pulled over or to be crashing into another car or a pedestrian. He parked, not bothering to settle into a perfect position as he often had when the time seemed to be on his side, settling for a quick fix and leaving the car the way it was, hurrying out the driver's side door and locking it behind him. He strode from the car to the front door with an odd grace that shouldn't normally come rom a man in a rush, looking as if he simply moved in such a manner regularly that, should anyone be watching, would seem normal. A hand was lifted, the doorknob tested and he found it unlocked. It was safe to assume that there was a fight and that Inuyasha had left in a rush, thus Kagome would not lock the door behind him due to her own feelings that the argument had sparked.
The door was opened and he stepped through, shutting the door silently behind him and the only sound that would give indication of his arrival was the sound of the latch being engaged. He then took this time to examine the scene. The T.V. was off, everything neatly arranged to stage that everything was in perfect condition. Kagome did this often after a fight so that when Inuyasha returned, or when he, himself returned, there would be no indication of what had been done and it would be swept under the rug. Unfortunately for her, he knew this tactic too well, now.
I almost feel pity for her. Putting up with this sad excuse for a man for so long.
His thoughts ended at his own prompting as he stepped into the kitchen, examining the area there to determine the state of the woman in the house. Two bottles of beer were empty and settled neatly on the counter which told him that she was, again, depressed. She hated beer and this was a well known fact. There was her ring on the table, telling him that she, once again, cut it off with Inuyasha and he wondered how long this would last. She took him back almost every time.
“Kagome.”
There was no answer from the woman, again, just like on the phone. He shook his head and headed back into the previous room, looking to the couch as he passed on the way to her room. Her cellphone was there, telling him that this was where she was as she called him but the real question where she was now. He stepped into the bedroom that Kagome and Inuyasha shared but did not find her there. The bathroom was next. He knocked before opening the door, finding no trace of her there, either. He scoured the downstairs and found her nowhere. There were only a few places left to search and this would likely be easier as he knew his part of the house well.
His thoughts wandered again as he went up the stairs, wondering what state he would find the woman in... Seeing as she called him with what he considered a desperate tone, he was hoping that he would not find a pathetic woman on a rebund, desperate for someone to love if only temporarily. Not when she would run back to his half-brother. That would be one thing he would not stand for, her had more pride than that.
The search upstairs went quickly, like everything else. She was not found in any of the public rooms, and all that was left was his bedroom. He could only wonder what state he would find her in as his hand reached for the handle. He didn't bother to knock, he didn't care if she wanted to be alone, now, she was in his room, of all places. He turned the handle slowly, pushing forward to swing the door open and he stepped into the room without hesitation before shutting the door behind him. He meant to brace himself before scanning the room with his eyes to find her.
He had expected a crying wimpering woman, weak with the raw emotion from the fight only hours ago. He did not expect to find a confident, bold, and quite naked vixen sitting upon his bed with one leg gingerly crossed over the other, leaning back as if she had been waiting for some time. To top it off, the woman was smirking like the fox she was with her brown eyes focused intently upon him.
“My God, woman...”
For the second time today, his heart had stopped, his breath caught in his throat as she slowly uncrossed her legs and pushed herself forward and off of the bed. She moved to him, hips swaying with purpose as she focused those brown eyes upon him and moved with a feline grace to corner her prey. He had been degraded to a school boy state - staring as if he had never seen a naked woman before.
“Sesshomaru...”
She breathed his name, soft and sensuous, beckoning him to come forward by just the sound, like a siren drawing a man to his death. He didn't move, rooted to where he stood, watching her intently in return for her previous looks. She moved closer, her body pressing against his as she raised herself onto her tip-toes, wrapping her arms gingerly around his neck to draw him in closer. A single kiss was pressed to his lips, gentle and inviting, that was all it took for him to lose all sense of reality. He returned it with a sudden drive to take control of the situation before she coul make a bigger fool of him. His hands found her hips, sliding downwards to her thighs and hefting her up without breaking the kiss and holding her tightly against him. He felt her small fingers move into his hair, lightly massaging his scalp while her legs wrapped tightly around his waist. This woman in his arms was no longer his half-brother's woman, no longer untouchable and all his. And he wanted to touch. His nails dug into the sensitive flesh of her thighs and the kiss broke for her to cry out her pleasure.
“Sesshomaru.” Her breathless words filled his ear, teasing him with the hint of desire that lingered in the undertones. She pulled back, looking into his eyes and smiled with satisfaction at the beast she had unchained with her kiss. He wanted to devour her and she would enjoy every minute of it.
“You have messed with fire, woman.” But she only smiled more, taunting him with an attempt at being coy. He was not fooled.
“This won't be a sweet and loving affair, Kagome. I won't take my time.” Because he could hold back no longer. He would have her now and avoid waking up from a selfish dream, cold and alone, unfinished.
“I know.” That was all she had time to say before she was tossed onto the bed, landing there with a soft grunt from the sudden impact. Her head turned to watch him, curious, as he undressed with that grace of his. Clothing dropped quickly, though it seemed like a lifetime as one button came done at a time before he was finally free from the restraints of his work clothing. There was only one thing to be noted from the show he had given: he wore no boxers or briefs, having gone commando. Her eyes moved to briefly meet his and she saw the smirk there with his full intent to take revenge.
“Sess--”
No more could come out. She was caught, swept up by him in an instant as he joined her on the bed with such a speed. Fingers moved instantly into his hair, massaging his sensitive scalp as they kissed wildly. His promise was kept, there was no gentleness behind this kiss, only raw desire that made her burn for more. She was utterly and completely dominated as his fingers traveled downwards, trailing along her body and down to the sweet spot between her legs. Soft cries were eaten by his lips while fingers slowly drove her crazy with a quick tease, meant to prepare her for him.
He stopped, suddenly, that she whimpered into his lips to beg for more. Fingers were pulled away, no longer inside her. A single kiss was pressed to her nose before she felt his length against her, rubbing her to take lubrication before the tip played at her opening. It was not a pleasant feeling when he finally pressed in, he was thick, uncomfortable, and it was hard to adjust to so much at once. He was nothing like Inuyasha, at all. Another cry slipped from her lips, showing her discomfort, though it seemed not to bug him as he adjusted himself. Then, with one final push, he was fully sheathed inside. She screamed, loudly, and there were no apologies as he began to drive into her with wreckless abandon.
Pain faded into pleasure as he continued and her arms wrapped tightly around him, enjoying the feeling as it utterly consumed her, riding with him and crying out for him, for more. She begged, pleaded, and cried. She wanted more and he never seemed to give it, driving her to scream until limits were met on her part. He drove her wild, and she loved every minute of it.
It was not a long affair, their love making, their wild sex. It was as promised, wild, fast, with no love between them. Her legs tightened around him as he drove her to another peak when he finally reached his own, drawing him in deeper as she called his name, begging for more all the while. She felt she was never getting enough, and at this point, she would die a pleasure filled death.
He finally reached his peak, driving hard into her, working her wider and harder than ever before. Legs tightened, still, in a weak attempt to keep him still as he pace continued. His back arched, driving himself deeper for that one last thrust and he released with a gluttural roar, spilling into her and filling her completely. A pleasant sigh was her release, throat raw from the screams from before. He pulled from her, falling to the bed beside her before wrapping strong arms around her and drawing her in close. Silence filled the house as they rested the night away.
When Sesshomaru woke in the morning, there was no woman in his arms, but, there was breakfast on the table. No Kagome was found in the house. It was like she vanished into thin air and she had been a dream that had lasted for many years, for there was no trace of her or her things... Only the breakfast on the table.

A/N: And thus, is the end. :) This is my first fanfiction, so, it may be a little choppy. And, I know that my lemon wasn't all that nice, but, hopefully it will improve over time.
For now, this is a One Shot, and I may or may not continue writing it. Please let me know what you think.
