InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The changing of time ❯ “I never knew” ( Chapter 10 )
Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha, I’m only borrowing them.
A/N: So I’ve been gone for a while. I’ve had so much happen in the time that has passed. My husband and I welcomed our second baby girl. We bought a house, and have started chicken farming. Chickens have become an addiction! I have also been in and out of the hospital and Dr. office a lot this past year. I had to quit my job because of back problems and well just it’s been crazy. Any way, I don’t have a beta anymore. I’ve had way too many problems with them not editing for me and wanting the change everything in the story. Including the level of intelligence I gave InuYasha. I really didn’t like that. I wanted someone to edit my spelling and grammar. Maybe give a few ideas how to better the story. But not change the whole thing. So I decided to just post my story without being edited. I hope those who like the story don’t mind the errs. Thanks so much for reading! Please review.
Chapter 10: “I never knew”
“Stop pretending you have any respect for me, Sesshoumaru! Get off your knee!” The ghostly figure told his still living son.
Kagome snapped out of her delirium and had walked up to Inuyasha and firmly gripped the black sleeve of his new haori. Neither looked at each other, as they could only stare at the scene unfolding before them.
Sesshoumaru stood, as his father had told him, and still lacking in any and all emotion, said, “The late Tai youkai is the only being, this Sesshoumaru has known, honorable enough to deserve any respect.”
“Than why, my son, have you shown my blood nothing more than hate and discontent?” The long dead Inu bit back.
Sesshoumaru squared his shoulder’s and ever so slightly glanced at Inuyasha. He spat as if he had venom in his mouth, “The hanyou, father, is the one who dishonors your blood by living.”
The ghost sighed and walked to stand face to face with his eldest son. “What’s become of you, Sesshoumaru my son? Though you were always distant, and on occasion, cold, you didn’t hold the hate you do now for humans. You were compassionate, you even cared for Izayoi, and Inuyasha before he was born. You marveled at the fact you could feel your little brother’s movements in Izayoi’s womb.” The inu general placed a hand on the taiyoukai’s shoulder, “You completely changed before Inyuasha’s birth. What could have possibly caused such a change in you in such a short time?”
Sesshoumaru still stone faced jerked his shoulder away and regained his composer. “This Sesshoumaru’s once closed eye’s were opened. Mother informed this Sesshoumaru of how you committed adultery with that human tramp and banished her when said tramp was found to be carrying that worthless half breed.”
The figure of Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha’s father glowed blindingly, bright with anger. “YOUR MOTHER IS A FOOL!!” The three in the ghost presence, stared at him with wide eye’s, mouths agape, as he continued to yell. “It all started with Ryuukossei! Your mother’s greed for power led her to become the mistress of that filth. Because infidelity is so rare with inu youkai, the punishment is death at the hands of the one betrayed. I was foolish for caring for her enough that I only stripped her of her mating mark and banished her from my lands. When I met and mated Izayoi, and your mother found out, her and her precious Ryuukossei began to threaten my mate and unborn pup. When the threat’s increased, you began to change. I assumed she was feeding you oushikuso. I suppose I was right. Izayoi and Inuyasha are not to blame for you mother’s banishing! Your mother is to blame! And when the threat’s turned to attempts, I could no longer stand idly by. In the end, it was your mother’s lover who caused my death!”
All stood shocked and in disbelief. The look on Sesshoumaru’s face was one that a person would never have even thought could be held by one such as him. His eye’s, though his face was still cold, held hurt and shock. You could almost hear the brick wall he built around his heart crumble, as a single tear trickled down his cheek, though his face was still as stone.
Though anyone who knew him now wouldn’t believe it, Sesshoumaru was once a kind and loving person. He was still the stoic and seemingly cold creature he was at this moment. But he was also one of understanding. He loved his father dearly, and always had believed there was just cause for his parents spilt up and his mother’s banishing. The fact that Sesshoumaru was allowed to see his mother was proof the late inu Tashio was too himself, a reasonable man. It was Sesshoumaru’s mother who tainted him. Mislead him to believe that all humans and youkai alike could not be trusted and were nothing more than a miserable insect to be stomped out.
The glowing general pulled Sesshoumaru in a fatherly hug. “Forgive me father.” Sesshoumaru said. “Mother filled me with lies. At first I felt she was full of deceit, but the more she talked the more I believed. I was a fool to believe her.”
The inu tashio pulled away from his eldest son, “You brother is the one you should be asking forgiveness from. It is your job, as the general of the west, to make it up to Inuyasha. He deserves his rightful place by your side in ruling.”
Sesshoumaru gave a vague nod as his father went on. “I have another matter to discuss with you. The human girl you keep, She is the one you are intended to mate.” Inuyasha and Kagome, for the first time through the whole ordeal, looked at each other.
“No way!” Inuyasha whispered to Kagome.
“I don’t believe this.” She answered back.
Sesshoumaru almost laughed thinking this was a joke, but we all know that just wouldn’t be in his nature. “Father, This Sesshoumaru would not take a human for a bride, much less a child.”
“Do not be fooled my son. When Rin came to you, she was but two years away from mating age, and that was three years ago. Why do you think it is, that she, was the first for Tenseiga, in your hands, to be saved?”
“She is but a child. No older than eight summers.” Sesshoumaru answered.
“Have you not noticed,” His father began, “How in three years the girl has not aged?”
“I really don’t believe this now. There’s no way she’s only a year younger than you.” Inuyasha whispered to Kagome who only nodded.
The ghost looked at his younger son and chuckled. Still laughing he turned back to Sesshoumaru. “Heh! My son, Rin’s mother was a strong miko and her father was a powerful samurai. They were constantly fighting evil youkai. Her mother put a spell on her to better her chance’s of someone taking care of her if something were to happen to them. Only someone who truly care’s for, and is meant for, her can break the spell.”
“And how is this done father?” Sesshoumaru asked still skeptical.
“You must Kiss her, with passion and true love in your heart.”
Inuyasha lost it. He fell to the ground holding his stomach laughing hysterically. “OH MY GOD! SESSHOUMARU KISSING A LITTLE GIRL??? AND I THOUGHT MIROKU WAS A HENTAI!!!!” Though Kagome was finding hard to keep from laughing as well, she tried to cover Inuyasha’s wide laughing mouth.
“INUYASHA!” The ghost general yelled. “YOU WILL BE STILL!”
“I’m sorry father, it’s too good!” Inuyasha said rolling on the grass.
Sesshoumaru began to draw his sword as his eye’s bled red. Kagome freaked and did the only thing she could think of to keep him quiet.
“INUYASHA!!! SIT BOY!!!!” She yelled as his body, that was already on the ground, slammed so hard this time that a creator was formed even though not much, if any, distance had been traveled.
“Son of a…..” The muffled, no longer laughing, voice of Inuyasha could be heard.
“*Humph* Seems your miko has an advantage over you little brother.” Sesshoumaru said as his eye’s went back to gold and he sheathed Toukijin.
The dead inu rolled his eye’s and continued as Inuyasha finally got up. “Sesshoumaru, you must remember, once the spell is broken, she will take on her age’s true from, how ever her body will need time to catch up. You must not mate with her till she begins her heat cycle, after the first time she bleeds.”
In the bushes, a little girl and a green toad listened to everything in hiding.
“Lord Sesshoumaru would never take a pest like you as a mate.” Jaken said.
“Lord Sesshoumaru is strong, and he can have what he want’s even if it’s not me.” Rin said, surprisingly, sounding more mature than usual.
“Rin! Come out from hiding!” The ghost bellowed toward the brush.
Warily, she came out of hiding to stand next to her master. “Come to me Rin.” the ghost said. The girl looked up at Sesshoumaru and he nodded. She slowly walked up to the blue figure. He placed a hand on the girls head and she closed her eye’s. He spoke to her mind as he enabled her to do the same to his.
“You know about the spell don’t you?” he asked.
“yes, I’ve always known, I just didn’t know what to do about it.”
“The one your meant to be with knows what to do now. He’ll need time. I know you know what real love is. I also know that you love him deeply. I assure you he loves you, and I promise my child, he will realize this.”
“Thank you milord.”
The ghost smiled and took his hand off of the girl’s head. “you may return to your master’s side.” The girl smiled back and scampered back to Sesshoumaru’s side. Rin reached up and took Sesshoumaru’s only hand. Hesitantly Sesshoumaru held her hand in return.
The inu no tashio then turned and walked up to his youngest son, “Inuyasha, You have grown stronger than I had ever imagined. You surpassed me with Tessaiga. You are stronger than any Youkai I have ever met.” Inuyasha smiled as Sesshoumaru let out an almost inaudible growl. “Yes Sesshoumaru, if Inuyasha ever really wanted to, chances are he would come out the victor. He has never put his full strength into fighting you. He always had a soft spot for you. Didn’t you Inuyasha?”
Sesshoumaru was feeling extremely pissed, surely this hanyou couldn’t be as strong as he. Inuyasha on the other had didn’t know what to think or say. Sure his father was right in the since that he never really had put all of himself into their fights. He really didn’t want to kill his only living relative, but he wasn’t so sure that he would have physically been able to kill the youkai if he tried. Sesshoumaru was glad when Inuyasha spoke he didn’t want to have a fight to the death with his brother, not at this point, since he gained the knowledge his father had just given him. “Well I guess that something we’ll never find out because I don’t feel like testing it.” Inuyasha said. The ghost laughed.
“My pride in you my son,” The dead general began, “Will never end. You have reached an amount of strength, that you would never have the need to become full blooded youkai. You were meant to be what you are.”
“I have someone who taught me that not too long ago.” Inuyasha said as he grabbed Kagome’s hand and squeezed it. She looked at him and smiled. The old youkai smiled at the sight of his son and his son’s mate. The love, and connection they shared radiated off of their aura’s in mass quantities. Inuyasha watched wide eyed as his father placed a hand on his mates head and the other hand over her abdomen. Kagome closed her eyes, and once again the ghost was speaking within a persons mind.
“You have been a changing factor in my son. He get’s his strength from you and your love. Inuyasha is a passionate being, he has just been conditioned to hide it. You have brought it to life. Your own powers, rival that of Midoriko. You and Inuyasha, together, are destined for great things. Your children will come out half youkai, not quarter. I knew that would be a concern of your’s.”
“How is that possible? I’m human and Inuyasha is half human. The baby should be quarter youkai.”
“My blood is strong miko. My blood cannot be diluted any more than half. His youkai blood, my blood, will take over every time you conceive his child. Your pup eagerly awaits meeting her…..or his….parents.”
“You know what it is, don’t you”
“Indeed.”
“What is it?”
“Miko, I cannot tell you that.”
The ghost lifted his hand and Kagome and he both opened their eye’s. “you have picked a wonderful mate my son.” the youkai said. He then motioned for Sesshoumaru to approach. As he got close the ghost spoke. “I want the two of you to mend the relationship between you. When one makes an attempt the other will not mock or condemn the other. Is this understood?”
Sesshoumaru nodded, and Inuyasha replied with a “Keh!” and folding his arms in the sleeves of the black rat haori. “I’ll always watch over you my sons.” the ghost said as the light faded and only the four were left. Finally Sesshoumaru looked at Inuyasha.
“You will come to the western castle in three week’s to discuss matters.” And with that the taiyoukai turned and walked away. “Come Rin!” he yelled over his shoulder at the little girl who was lagging behind. She waved to Inuyasha and Kagome and then chased after her future mate.
Inyuasha turned to Kagome and smiled. He knelt down to offer her his back. She climbed on and he raced off to the hut. They kept silent as Inuyasha argued with himself, hoping Kagome wouldn’t be too angry with him.
He crept into the bedroom window and gently deposited Kagome on to her feet. He kissed her on the top of her head and whispered, “I’ll see you tomorrow Kagome. I’m sorry for what has happened tonight.” He turned and began to climb out of the window when a small hand stopped him. He turned to face a teary eyed miko.
She softly trailed her fingers along his jaw line, “Inuyasha, I…I don’t know what to say.”
Inuyasha, returned the touch along her cheek. “Kagome,” he whispered.
“You, and I…we…you gave me a baby.” She whispered, as a solitary tear trickled down her face over her blue marking. There was something about how it was him who was the one to father her baby that put her in a state of complete awe.
Inuyasha smiled and brushed the tear away with his thumb, “It’s pup.”
He passionately placed his lips to hers, as their tongues began an intricate dance.
They made their way to the futon all the while kissing and removing each others clothing. He positioned himself over the mother of his child, and gracefully slid himself into her. The over powering emotion over took their love making, causing a continuous stream of tears from Kagome’s eyes.
Inuyasha poured all of his love and devotion for her and his offspring into every thrust. They were covered in a thin sheet of sweat as they joined together as one.
Inuyasha whispered into her ear as he nipped at her lobes, “Thank you Kagome, for being the mother of my child. I love you.”
More tears poured from her eye’s as she gasped for air, “I love you, Inuyasha.”
He plunged within her depths, feeling her spasm, as she reached her climax. Letting out nothing more than a soft mewl. Inuyasha, followed her in suit.
He fell to her side nuzzling her neck, while placing the other hand over her womb. He softly rubbed the spot where his child was laying.
“I’m glad you know now. The pup is strong. I’ve been hearing his heart beat for a couple of weeks now.”
Kagome sighed as she struggled to catch her breath. Inuyasha kissed her cheek and moved to place he ear to her stomach.
“I’ve been wanting to do this for a while now.” The hanyou said as he began to whimper to the miko’s abdomen.
“what’s that?” she asked breathlessly. Amazed at how her inu mate was already proving to be a doting father.
The Inu kissed his mate’s belly and looked at her replacing his ear to it’s former spot, as she toyed with the other.
“It’s inu talk. All inu pups are born knowing it. I was telling the pup that it and it’s mother will always be loved.”
Kagome smiled and sat up bringing Inuyasha’s lips to hers in a sweet kiss.
**********
Kagome sat on her bed early that morning tired and just in form getting sick. She almost felt like telling everyone to wait till tomorrow for the wedding but knew that would just be stupid. Sango walked in with a bowl of rice and the kimono Kagome was supposed to wear for the wedding.
“Ok , Kagome here’s your rice and soon we’ll need to get you dressed. This dress really is beautiful.” Sango said as she sat down and handed Kagome her bowl.
“Oh thank you Sango. I think I’m going to wear something else though.”
“Really, what?”
“Well, I gave Inuyasha the black rat robe last night. And he gave me the fire rat robe. Sango, it was amazing. It fits me! The size changed, and it fits me.”
“Wow! So your wanting to wear that then?”
“Yeah. I really do.” Kagome said seemingly lost in thought as she stirred at her rice. The door calmly slid open and Kagome’s mother walked in.
“Good morning dear. How are you feeling?” Maya asked.
“Ok I guess. Pre wedding jitters is all”
“I have something for you.’’ Maya said as she took Kagome’s hand and placed the wedding rings in her daughters palm. “I want for you and Inuyasha to have these. They were mine and your fathers rings. I‘ve already talked to Jii-chan and kaede about including them at the end of the ceremony.”
“Oh mamma! Thank you so much!” Kagome exclaimed as she sat her bowl down and hugged her mother and began to cry. Today seemed to prove that the end of it would have her eye’s red and swollen. Quickly everyone began the process of getting the wedding underway.
**********
Inuyasha Stood with Miroku, Kaede, and Jii-chan at the alter awaiting the beginning of the ceremony. The hanyou fidgeted with the trim of his haori sleeve getting nervous over the amount of people that had come to celebrate.
“Inuyasha, the haori and hakama Kagome made for you, is definitely a fine quality.” Miroku would have thought of anything to say to get the hanyou to stop the fidgeting, it was making him nervous.
“Yeah.” Inuyasha responded as if he really wasn’t listening. Miroku leaned in and whispered, “And I’m sure you could show her your gratitude tonight. Oh, I would show her over and over if I were you.” That did it! Inuyasha turned and popped Miroku in the head.
“Damn hentai monk!” soft flute music could be heard and the crowd parted to reveal Kagome standing there in his fire rat robe in all it’s glory. His heart swelled with pride to see his mate would always be protected by him. Even if he wasn’t there. The ceremony was long and tedious according to Inuyasha. But if it made his mate happy it made him happy. At the last blessing Jii-chan spoke up.
“The bride and groom would like to share there own vows to each other.”
Then Kaede spoke up, “They would also like to exchange rings to symbolize their devotion to each other.”
Inuyasha looked at Kagome confused. She just smiled and placed a ring in his hand. She then took his left hand and said.
“Inuyasha. I never knew how empty my life was till I met you. You fill my life with love and excitement. I’ll love you for all eternity and beyond. You’re my strength, mate, lover and best friend.” She then slipped the ring on his ring finger. She then handed him her left hand. He was still a little confused but decided he would take Kagome’s lead.
“Kagome. I spent 50 years dead, but didn’t realize I was dead longer than that till I met you. You have brought me life, a future and love. I’ll always thank you for that. I vow to spend the rest of my life protecting you and making you happy.” He then slid the ring on her ring finger, as a tear trickled down her cheek.
Jii-chan and Kaede looked at each other and together said, “You may now kiss your bride.”
For the first time Inuyasha did not hesitate to do so in public as he took her face in his hands and kissed her with all the love he had. Suddenly a voice was heard causing the crowd to part reviling a figure dressed in a hooded cape, that covered his face.
“I would like to extend my congratulations to the bride and groom.”
The crowd buzzed with whispers as the person walked to stand in front of Inuyasha and Kagome. Kagome’s mother, Souta, Miroku and Sango came to stand next to them. The man spoke again.
“I am honored to be able to stand before the great Inuyasha and his new bride Kagome. I thank you that you are so public with your union. All present should take heed to this symbol. It is possible for youkai and human to coexist happily and I hope that you two will be an example.”
“Who the hell are you?” Inuyasha asked, a little puzzled by the man’s strangely familiar sent.
“I am the village head.” the man answered then pulled down the hood to reveal his face. Kagome, Jii-can and Maya gasped. Maya’s eye’s rolled back into her head and she fainted, but was thankfully caught buy Miroku. Kagome stared at the man and tightened her grip on Inuyasha. What she said came out as a mere whisper but was heard by the man none the less.
“Daddy?”
A/N: Ok I’m sorry that I left out the whole ceremony. I’m not going to lie, I don’t know what the traditional Shinto ceremony consist of. Also, all the fic’s I read with that in it were just too long. PLEASE READ AND REVIEW!!!!!!!!!
