Here I am again, and with my longest chapter ever.
Sorry for the delay but I don't have a lot of time to write

Eri was in the well house with Souta, she was shocked, why would the police be here? What was the problem? Souta, on the other hand, was very agitated because he too didn't know what was happening

"What happened" asked the girl

"I don't know" the boy replied "When the police knocked at the door my mom told me to go hide in the well house and not let either Kagome or Inuyasha come out" he told her, still very jumpy. "But how come you are here, how did you come out of the well?" he asked nervously

"Would you calm down, they're gona hear you, your so loud" the girl interrupted him, she continued "It's a long story but it started on two days ago, I couldn't sleep so I went to take a walk and I fell in the well and now I know everything, well almost everything" she was about to explain more about her amazing trip to the past when she heard two male voices followed by a more feminine sound

"Did you check the little house over there?" one asked

"No, I'll go right away" said the other masculine voice

"You can't go there, it is sacred ground" said the familiar female voice, it was Kagome's mom. The two policemen were searching the place for the `thing' that destroyed the car of a complaining citizen. It happened on the day Eri had freaked out about Inuyasha being half-demon fled the house, she had crossed the path of a car and Inuyasha ended up slicing it in half to save her life. This man had filed a complaint against the Higurashi Shrine and brought the police with him.

Eri blushed a little thinking it was her fault. "Madam, we are only doing our job to protect people from that `thing' " the first male voice

"Well I didn't know that your job included searching a house without any mandate! You do have a mandate, do you?" Kagome's mom answered "I don't think that your boss will like to hear that you were doing this without the proper paperwork, even more so that it is a shrine" she added

"The lady's right, I think we should come back another time, I don't know about you, but I don't want any trouble" the second male voice answered.

"Fine, but I promise you that we will be here by morning, WITH a mandate" the man said and went to his police car, once he was out of sight, the mother released a sigh of relief

"Ouff… I sure am glad they left" she only had time to finish this sentence when Eri jumped out of the well house followed by Souta

"Ms Higurashi you're so brave, I cant believe how you stood up to them"

"Eri! You startled me" the mother said recovering from the scare the girl gave her "Where were you?" she questioned

"Mom Eri went back down the well, Inuyasha just came to bring her back" the boy answered for her still very exited from the events that just happened "It's a shame he had to leave thou" he added

"Eri! You shouldn't have, you know how much its dangerous back there" Mama answered (I'll call her Mama from now on) a little disappointed.

"I know, This tall youkai who came after Inuyasha almost killed me and …" she was interrupted by Mama

"You know, I would prefer not hearing about the dangers my Kagome is facing on the other side, there are some things that a mother should never know"

"I understand"

"Now lets all go inside and wait for Inuyasha and Kagome" said the little brother

"Souta! Didn't you tell him to stay over there with Kagome" Mama asked with a disappointed look on her face

"Well yeah, of course I told him" he defended himself "But you know Kagome, she doesn't want to admit it but she is as stubborn as him" he added with a big smile on his face making Eri giggle

"I heard that you little brat, you're talking behind my back now" came Kagome's voice

"Give the kid a break Kagome" Inuyasha's voice said "And he's right, you are as hard headed as I am" he added smiling

"If you are so anxious to find out what concrete taste like it would be my pleasure to help you" Kagome gave him an evil look and he flattened his ears down in sign of submission, not wanting to be sat.

"Eri you're still here?" asked Kagome

"Yeah, things got messy on this side too, but since you're here we could spend the day at your house since…" she suddenly stopped talking and looked at Inuyasha; she had a questioning look displayed on her face

"Inuyasha? Why do you have dirt on your face?" she asked

"Feh!!!... I tried to stop Kagome from coming over here" he answered giving Kagome an accusing glance "Remind me to never help you ever again" he added whipping his face clean with his red haori's sleeve. He was clearly upset with her and she knew it, it made her feel terribly bad and would apologize the moment they could get a minute alone.

"Well Souta's right, lets go inside, we'll be able to talk things out" said Mama. They entered the house through the kitchen door and headed for the living room and sat quietly until Mama had brought everyone a cup of herbal tea.

"Eri, we will have some tea and then I will take you home, I guess that it was a pretty rough week end on you" said Mama, pouring the brownish liquid for everyone

"Can't she stay at least for dinner mom… please" pleaded Kagome

"Alright, I will call her mother and tell her that she will be spending the day with us" the mother answered making two high school girls very happy. When she had called Eri's mother she was intercepted by Kagome

"So mom, Inuyasha told me that you had some problems with the police, what happened?" she asked

"Well two police officers knocked at our door this morning about a car being damaged in front of our house, they said that someone had complained that a `monster' came out of this house and cut his car in two" she answered worried about what will happen tomorrow.

"It doesn't really matter since they have no proof, right mom?" asked the young girl

"They do have the car, and they said that the cut was so perfect that no blade could have cut it this clean, only an industrial cutting laser could have hoped to achieve such a clean cut" Mama said

"Feh!!... You can't say I didn't do a good job on that thing" bragged Inuyasha

"Inuyasha, it's not the time to brag about your sword" replied an irritated Kagome.

"I'm sorry Ms. Higurashi, it's all my fault" said Eri "If I hadn't freaked out about Inuyasha none of this would have ever happened" she added torturing herself with remorse.

"Don't feel guilty Eri, we don't blame you for what happened, it's normal to be scared" said Mama trying to console Kagome's friend

"Don't worry, if that guy comes back to make trouble for Kagome or her family I'll slice him in two" said an overconfident hanyou

"Inuyasha I swear, if you do anything near that I'll sit you until your head cracks open" said an angry Kagome

"Fine then, I'll only give him a good scare" he replied and only earned another look from Kagome

"Fine…. I'll stay out of this" he said, Kagome was relieved to hear that "You really are hard headed" he added.

Mama, on the other hand was happy to notice that Inuyasha would not only protect Kagome, but his protection included her family too, he considered them his family/friends as much as Kagome. The rest of the day passed uneventfully, and eventually, Eri's mom came by to pick her daughter around four o'clock, of course they did not let her see Inuyasha: they had enough trouble as it is.

As Mama talked with Eri's mother at the front door, Inuyasha and Kagome had their first private moment of the day, they were in her room.

"Inuyasha" she said with a soft voice

"What"

"I'm sorry"

"For what"

"Back there, you only wanted to protect me, you sensed the danger here and you didn't let me pass… and the only thing you get from me in return is a Si…"

"Kagome… I will always protect you, even if I get sat in return" he said with a comforting voice, "I will never let anything happen to you, even if you disapprove or if it gets me killed, I will never cease to protect you… that's a promise Kagome"

"I know that, and I truly am sorry for not realizing that earlier" then she added with a more cheerful voice "Hey Inuyasha, why don't we stay here for the night, we could go back to your time tomorrow" she suggested

"Why?" a puzzled Inuyasha answered

"Tonight is a moonless night and I thought that maybe…" she was interrupted

"You count the days too… I guess I'm not the only one who worries about the other" he said softly "It means a lot to me Kagome" he added, ever so softly. She flushed a little, taken by surprise by one of Inuyasha's sentimental confessions, it happened so rarely that she could never see it coming.

"I know" she said,

"I thought that we could go out tonight, since you won't have your enhanced hearing and smell, you could enjoy the noisy nights of Tokyo" she said hoping to hear him say yes

"If you want to go out tonight you better get some rest now or you will be spent tomorrow" he replied

"That means yes, does it?" she asked

"Of course it does"

"Okay then, I'll set my alarm for 9 o'clock and get some sleep" much to Inuyasha's dislike, he really hated this alarm clock, but he knew that if she had to sleep, she had to wake up too so he put up with it. Kagome pulled the covers over her body, not minding that Inuyasha was still sitting next to her

"Good night Inuyasha" she said before resting her head on her pillow

"Do you want me to leave?" he asked, a little surprised that she did not ask him to leave. She was silent for a moment thinking about what he just said

"If you want to you can go" she answered, she was laying down on her left side, facing the wall and he was sitting behind her facing her backside, he did not move for a while, giving her the time to fall asleep. When he thought her to be sleeping he lay on her bed, still facing her back, he couldn't but notice how nice she smelled and he began playing with her hair, stroking her raven black locks, running his fingers through it,

"Inuyasha…" she moaned, she seamed to really appreciate his actions. His face turned red in an instant,

"Euh… Ka… I thought you were sleeping" he said embarrassed as if he had been naked in an auditorium full of women, "I'm sorry, I wont do it again" he added, trying to get out of the bed without disturbing her

"Inuyasha… don't stop… I… I like it" she said half asleep already

"Okay" he whispered, now less embarrassed than a minute ago and he resumed playing with her hair. It was now 5 o'clock and time for dinner, noticing that Kagome and Inuyasha were still upstairs, Mama climbed the stairs to Kagome's bedroom and opened the door quietly, she saw them both asleep, Kagome under the covers and the Inu-hanyou behind her on top of the covers, his arm around her, his hand on her shoulder entwined in her raven hair.

At first she was surprised, but then she noticed how beautiful and peaceful they looked and she couldn't help but feel happy for them and she thought that her daughter had finally found someone whom she could love and he would love her back and protect her whatever happened.








I'm realy sorry to leave it like that, I know you all want to know hat happens next but I had to cut the chapter in two, it was just too long.
