Chapter One - It Continues

Inuyasha walked with his friends down the path away from Kaede's village.

`I vow on my life I will defeat Naraku… with my friends at my side.' He thought as he looked over to them. Kagome was right beside him, pushing her bicycle along the path with Shippo sitting in the basket as always. Then Sango was next to Miroku on the other side of the bike, secretly hiding their interlocked hands behind Miroku's baggy robe. And then Kirara sat atop Sango's shoulder, mewing at the happy couples.

The six went down the path, keeping alert just in case. Shippo stayed unusually silent, and when Kagome checked on him, he was sleeping. Kirara soon after joined them, covering them both with her tails.

“Those two must be exhausted from after that last battle with Naraku.” Kagome said. Sango nodded. Inuyasha scowled and turned his head, folding his arms inside the sleeves of his haori.

“I don't know why Shippo is though. All he did is sit around frightened and waste space. At least Kirara did something.” Inuyasha said. Kagome narrowed her eyes at him.

“Well fright can wear you out too! I know from experience.” She said. Inuyasha looked at her shocked. Since when was she ever scared? He knew that she worried a lot about him and the others, but she never showed much fear except a few times. Somehow Miroku seemed to read his thoughts.

“You were frightened before Kagome?” He asked. Kagome nodded as she looked over. Inuyasha noticed as she tightened her grip on her `handle bars' to her `bike' contraption.

“I'm scared a lot of the time. During battles, when I'm venturing off alone, when I get kidnapped, when we sleep at night. I'm usually scared for everyone's well being and sometimes for your lives. That's most of it. Though surprisingly for me, sometimes I feel simple fright for myself like when we had to watch that princess because the headman didn't want her soul stolen. That thing gave me the creeps and it still gives me goose bumps when I think about it.” Kagome said. She held up her arm to show that it did indeed have goose bumps. Inuyasha kept quiet but she was slightly quivering.

They stayed quiet for a while as they continued to venture down the path. They went and ventured off through a large field when loud thumps were heard. They all stopped dead in their tracks. Shippo and Kirara awoke, and looked around curiously.

“It doesn't smell like Naraku so it's probably some weak demon.” Inuyasha said, inhaling the scent of the noisemaker as wind rushed into him. Kagome stood still and the others turned to her to see if she sensed a jewel fragment.

“I… I think there's one. It's a faint feeling but it's there.” Kagome said. She hopped aboard her bike and readied herself for a possible battle. Kirara jumped out of the basket and Sango tightened her grip on the strap of the Hiraikotsu. Inuyasha smirked and grabbed a hold of the handle of Tetsusaiga.

“We should go and check it out then.” He said. With a thrust of his feet, he was jumping off. Kagome pedaled as hard as she could on her bike, and Kirara transformed to let Sango and Miroku on. They went off towards the sound.

“Mine!!! The Sacred Shikon Jewel Shard shall be mine!!!” The demon shouted as he slew a few warriors. More went off, only to be slaughtered themselves. “Give me the Shikon Shard!!!”

“Never!! Get away! I shall be the all powerful demon that will possess the shard of the Sacred Jewel. Supreme power will be mine!” Another demon shouted. It imbedded the shard into its forehead and began to fight with the other. Soon a demon brawl was rolling among the ground, acid saliva spat everywhere, and razor sharp claws digging into the raw flesh of the other.

The group made their way to the scene, avoiding the villagers fleeing for safety. Kagome put her bike in a safe spot and looked at what was before her.

“What the heck is it?” She asked. Inuyasha grabbed her and pulled her away as the acid saliva landed where she once stood. She gulped.

“It looks like a demon fight. I would say myself to leave it but they're terrorizing the village in the process.” Sango said. Miroku nodded, but not before giving Sango a good back-side rub down, which in pay, earned him a good dark red handprint on his cheek.

“I sense it stronger now, but I'm still not sure of its authenticity. It's in the forehead of the smaller demon with the spider-like body.” Kagome said. Inuyasha nodded and let her ride atop Kirara, Shippo already on board.

“Well real or not we should check it out either way. Let's go!” Inuyasha said. He made his way for a running start and then leapt off of a rock into the air, and made his way so he was above the two demons. “Hey guys, mind if I join the party?”

With that, the Tetsusaiga was brought down in between the two demons, sending some chunks of flesh and blood flying and two legs of each demon to dissolve onto the ground. The two demons screeched in pain and the humans of the group covered their ears as little Shippo and Kirara got dizzy, and Inuyasha tried to be manly and show no effect as he went after the one without the shard.

“You shall not destroy me!! How dare you try! How dare you relieve me of limbs!!” The larger demon said. He spat at Inuyasha, who in return barely dodged them. Kirara flew into the air and went towards the demons leaving Miroku to throw out his sacred sutras and fry a few other parts of the demon's body. The sizzle of the flesh filled everyone's ears.

“Hiraikotsu!” Sango shouted, sending forth her boomerang throughout the air and chopping off the lower part of the demon.

“YAAAAAAH!!!” Inuyasha shouted. As with a victorious swipe, he gave a powerful blow to the upper half, leaving the flesh to fall onto the ground in a flop, and dissolve into nothing.

“Now it's my turn… but unlike that weakling I have a Shikon Shard and I will be undefeated!” The other demon said and went forth attacking not only Inuyasha, but Kirara and the others with his other legs.

“Gah!! This can't be good!” Kagome said as she held tightly onto Miroku in front of her, who somehow for once knowing better, clutched onto Kirara instead of Sango's backside.

“Hold on guys! Kirara go near Inuyasha!” Sango ordered, and Kirara went forth, dropping down to have Miroku lean over and grab the Hiraikotsu. “Hiraikotsu!” She shouted once she received it, and sent it back at the demon, only chopping off a few of the hind legs and then bouncing off of the metal armor on the demon, and bouncing to Sango, who instantly grabbed hold of it as Kirara flew back around.

Inuyasha continued to dodge attacks and make swipes of his own but they weren't working. The jewel shard strengthened this demon, and must've given it the power of the armor so that it wouldn't be chopped in half. His sword or any other attack wouldn't do any good unless they targeted the stomach of the beast.

“Kagome! Use your arrows!” Inuyasha shouted and then continue to fight at the demon like a distraction. Kagome instantly nodded and removed her bow from her shoulder, and then slid out an arrow from its compartment. She aligned it up as perfectly as she could, and aimed for the largest part of the demon she could and let it fly.

The arrow began to glow with the immense power of the priestess within Kagome, and when made contact with the armor, pierced, sending cracks everywhere throughout it. The shard of the jewel was sent flying out of the demon's forehead, where Inuyasha reached up and took hold of it, putting it inside his haori and gripping onto the Tetsusaiga once more.

“This fight is over! Die!!” He shouted, and with that, brought down the sword with a strong blow, ripping the demon in half, and it dissolving instantly. Inuyasha landed on the ground safely, a small thump heard as his bare feet made contact with the compacted dirt. He removed the jewel shard from his haori and put Tetsusaiga into its sheath.

Kirara glided down onto the ground in front of Inuyasha, where Kagome instantly flung herself off, falling face first onto the ground, then slowly lifting her face and looking at Inuyasha, who smirked down at her, rotating the shard in between his thumb and index finger.

“How does the dirt taste Kagome?” He asked her, and sent a hand out to help her. She glared at him and grabbed his hand. She took the shard from him and put it into her small glass bottle.

“You know Inuyasha… I'm not really sure. How about you tell me your opinion Inuyasha? SIT!!” She said, and he went flying into the ground. “So… how does it taste?”

Inuyasha fought at the spell and reached out his hand to grab onto Kagome's ankle, instantly pulling on her sending her down onto the ground. She yelped as she landed onto the dirt and rocks, and blushed madly as her skirt rode up with him dragging her closer to him. She pulled it down and looked at him as he looked up from his place on the ground.

“Better than the bottom of your shoe.” He said grimly. With that, he let go of her ankle and stood, the spell finally worn off of him. She blinked at him and stood up, brushing herself off. She glared at him and whispered the command, sending him down once again in front of Sango and Miroku, who instantly from impression of what he did to Kagome, scooted away from his arm reach. Shippo sweat dropped at his stupidity.

“If the dirt is so much better than the bottom of my show than why don't you just taste it some more!!!!” Kagome shouted. She instantly stomped away from everyone, leaving Inuyasha to slowly raise himself off of the ground.

“Are you going to go after her Inuyasha?” Miroku asked. Inuyasha wiped the dirt away from his face.

“Damn right I am. And I'm going to go give her a piece of my mind!” He scowled, and then stomped off after Kagome.
