Chapter 19
Part 1
Just A Dream/Shopping Spree
Kagome stared out the window of their ride at all the bright lights. She leaned on Inu some, felling tired. He didn't seem to mind. She didn't care if he minded or not. She really didn't know what to think. For the gazillionth time, she just hoped she was dreaming. She closed her eyes and reopened them and there she was, still in bed those extra 30 min, about to be late to work. Again. She was never called into Sesshoumaru's office. She never got this assignment. She never went undercover and got caught by worlds most wanted. Kagome had been sleeping and it was all just a big dream. She would get up and go to work and file papers on in her small office with the view. Sango would come in with coffee and they would gossip with one another. Kagome would work on a small case. She would go home and just relax in her bathrobe with a big cup of hot cocoa and just chill with her cat Buyo. Maybe watch a little TV.
"Kagome?"
Snapping out of her happy thoughts, she looked up to see Inuyasha looking at her in an oddly concerned way. The limousine had come to a stop in front of a big, rich casino. Inuyasha put his hand on Kagome's forehead muttering something about stupid humans getting sick WAY to easy. But it surprised Kagome that even though he was muttering such things under his breath like so, something in his voice had changed since she first met him. It was just an act… He didn't seem to really mean what he said, with humans being `stupid' and all. Kagome let Inuyasha help her out of the limo, thinking: `maybe… Maybe it was something I did to change him…?' And she smiled to herself knowingly, getting a puzzled look from Inu.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
So this casino was some rich and fancy. They had been reserved the best of rooms in the hotel on top of the casino. Not exactly upstairs, cause the casino itself was a few floors.
Odd though, that Inuyasha had put Kagome in the same apartment as his. In a different room of course. It wasn't like him to have a girl so close to him unless it was his whore, Kikyo. But then she didn't come so close on these assignments. He always had her following him where he went for when he was in his `mood'. But he never had her staying so close. He just didn't like it.
Talk about no time to waste. As soon as they got up into the rooms, Kagura had em all down again to go shopping. It seemed a little late to be going shopping. But I guess that in such a place like this, EVERYTHING was open, 24/7.
Inuyasha mindlessly followed Kagome around the store as if he was on a leash. It made Kagome a little edgy. `What's up with him? First he was acting all weird and kind and concerned in the limo, he has my room right by his, and now he following me around and acting all distant.' Kagome dismissed his abnormal behavior and looked at what seemed to be `normal' cloths on a rack. "Well, this is pretty." Kagome checked the size and pulled it off the rack. Then she checked the price. Her stomach turned. "It's not THAT pretty." And she hung it back up. Inuyasha startled her with his words to: "Get anything you like." Kagome's jaw dropped. "Wha… Who… Ah! How can you say that?! Have you seen the outrageous pricing on these cloths! Who has the money for these things!" Inuyasha, somewhat regaining his cocky attitude, crossed his arms and leaned up against the wall behind him. "Me." Kagome just stood there. "Oh…" Kagome replied dumbly. "I guess so…"
Well, Inuyasha was quit the shopper. Who knew? It was like he was enjoying the shopping more then Kagome was. She had gone and picked out a few outfits. The cheapest ones, which were still pretty damned expensive. Inuyasha looked at them with disgust. They weren't ugly, but they weren't the best. And Inuyasha knew Kagome didn't exactly like such ordinary cloths compared to the other fancy stylish threads they had there.
Inuyasha plucked the articles of cloths right out of her hands and tossed them behind him. Kagome just stared dumbfounded. `What is he doing!' Then Kagome though, `Well, with the cash this dog's got, it's not that wrong for him to just toss things around like that…' Kagome looked over at some other customers that were throwing things down too. `I guess a lot of people with money do it.' Kagome sighed and let Inuyasha take her hand to drag her away.
Inuyasha didn't just pick out some cloths for her; he picked out a shit load of cloths! Kagome's eyes glazed over as she looked at all of the nice things he was buying for her. This much cloths would last her a lifetime, she could wear a different outfit every day for the rest of her life! Well, not literally but you catch my drift, it's a lot of damned cloths. She had stopped to think about why he was actually doing this for her. But she quickly dismissed the thoughts as Inuyasha returned with more for her to try on.
They didn't leave the store until Inuyasha had bought every piece of clothing he though looked good on Kagome that they had. They went to a few other stores and stocked up on jewelry, perfumes, shoes, hair products, bath products, and other little goodies.
The decided to fit everything into the many limos that had followed them around, and just peacefully walk home. In case you didn't know, everyone had gone shopping. So ahead of Inuyasha and Kagome were Kouga, Juuroumaru, Hiten, and Naraku. Kagura and Kanna were behind them but in front of Inu and Kag.
Kagome kept her mouth shut when looking through the windows of all the shops on the streets. She was afraid that if she said something that told anyone she admired something she didn't have, Inuyasha would drag everyone in and go on another shopping skitz.
But she couldn't help stopping and looking up in awe at the lovely TV screens, posters, and mannequins through the window of one store showing wedding dresses. Everyone had a dream. When she was younger her dream had always been to: `Get married and live happily ever after!' with her `Prince charming'. But she had gotten over it. Well, she hadn't actually. She had stopped thinking about it and moved on. But now, looking through the window at the TV screen at some sexy blonde modeling a gorgeous dress, she couldn't help but remember how she used to pretend when she was little. She couldn't help the small part of her, deep inside, that cried out. Her childhood dream never faded…
Everyone had stopped. Inuyasha just stood there staring at her with a sad look on his face.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Kagome had felt a little embarrassed about holding everyone up like that with the wedding dresses and all. But they forgot it. Kagome sat on the floor of the huge game room. `Damn, got my own game room up here.' Their `rooms' weren't really rooms at all. They were more like fucking houses! Huge one's at that. There were bedrooms and kitchens and foyers and dinning rooms and game rooms and anything else you could possibly think of. Kagome was almost afraid she would get lost in a place like this.
She wasn't in her `room' though. She was in Inu's. Kanna and Kagura gladly took on the duty of putting away all of Kagome's things for her. Kagome thought it was a bit much; even she wouldn't want to put away all her stuff. `But I guess they're used to it.'
Inuyasha had wanted her with him for god knows what reason. She soon found out that Inu just wanted her company. He used the excuse that he was all for some play station game that he needed two players for. But she knew. He was lonely and wanted her company. It seemed odd though. But Kagome thought it was cute. Inuyasha blushed like a madd dog when she teased him about this.
"WOO!" Inuyasha yelled. He slammed the controller down and did the happy jig. Kagome just sat there stunned. "You SO cheated!" Kagome accused. `Maybe it was just the game…'
Part 2
Maybe It's Love
Inuyasha plopped back down on the floor. He lay on his stomach beside Kagome and propped his head up on his elbows. Kagome glared at him and he gives her his best innocent puppy look. Kagome blushed. "So… What was with you and the wedding dresses?" Inuyasha's eyes darted away from her, as if he was embarrassed to ask the question.
Kagome's eyes softened and she looked down at her toes, which she wiggled in anticipation. Inuyasha looked back at her. "It's silly…" Kagome shrugged it off but Inuyasha kept on. "Well then tell me." Kagome sighed. "It was just a childhood dream… I had always wanted to get married to some handsome prince, like in a fairy tail or something; it was stupid." Inuyasha sat up and looked at her longingly. "You still wish it though, don't you?" "What?" Kagome's head snapped up and she looked at Inuyasha in a boggled sort of way. "You still wish for that happy ending. I know you do. It was written all over your face when you stared at those dresses." Kagome blushed and looked down ashamed. Inuyasha tilted her chin up gently so he could look into her eyes.
BOOM BOOM BOOM
Kagome jumps back some. Inuyasha, keeping his cool, just dropped his hand and looked up at the door. Kouga walked in and cocked an eyebrow up at Inuyasha. "Come on." Inuyasha got up and followed Kouga out. Before leaving out the door, he turned around and looked Kagome in the eyes. She was still blushing. "You're dreams will come true one day, I promise." And with that, he left the bewildered Kagome there on the floor in the game room to think over what exactly just went on between the two.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Kagome went through her thinks just one more time. She wanted to go ahead and lay out her things for the next day, but it was so hard to choose from all the things she had. "Don't worry, Inuyasha will most likely pick everything out for you." She heard. Kagome turned around to see Kagura in the doorway of the big walk in closet. Kagura made herself at home and just started rummaging through things. ((Kagura: ^-^ How does this look on me? Kagome: *sweat drop*))
Kagura smiled friendly at Kagome. "I dunno what you did, but you really changed Inuyasha ya know. I think he loves you." Kagome almost lost her balance and fell. "Wha…?" Kagome asked innocently. "You heard me!" Kagura stuck out her tongue. "I really think he loves you. I mean, Inuyasha may be filthy rich but it's not like him to spend so much money, especially not on someone else. Not even for his whore Kikyo," At this, Kagome blushed ten shades of red. "And he was SO attached to her. I don't see why, she's a cold bitchy slut. She's like the living dead. Well, she IS the living dead. Inuyasha had her brought back to life and since she's never been quit the same, not that she wasn't a cold bitchy slut before. But now she's just creepy." "Like the Pet Semetary!" Kagome piped up. Kagura laughed.
"I've seen the way he looks at you Kagome. It's love. I dunno how it happened, but it did." Kagura left Kagome to deal with her thoughts.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Kagome had decided to just give up on picking out an outfit. She figured Inuyasha prolly WOULD pick something out for her. Kagome sighed from exhaustion and fell back onto her bed. It was four poster oak. Nice fluffy pillows… Lots of pillows at that. And pretty fancy ones all decorated like. The bed spread was a creamy color covered in patterns of gold. Kagome kicked off most of the pillows as they were just there for looks, and pulled back the covers. The sheets were a creamy light gold color. Silky too. Kagome got under the covers and snuggled up with her head on one of the nice soft feather pillows.
`Inuyasha? In love? With me?! That's crazy… But what if…' Kagome's mind flashed back to her little chat with Inu in the game room. That night, Kagome spent a lot of time thinking about it, but she had eventually come to find out that she… ((dare I say it?)) LOVED Inuyasha. It wasn't like she had done anything special with him. He was never really that nice to her. She really had no reason at all to love him. And in such short time they had been together. But the little things he did like tending to her when ill, and just being there, to have someone to be concerned over you. She loved the way he would give her the puppy face when she acted mad at him. Little things like that made her love him. But just a little bit.

Part 3
Inuyasha
Inuyasha felt a little uncomfortable by Kagome leaning on him. But he didn't show it. She seemed to be in deep thought. Inuyasha shyly sneaked his arm around her to get more comfortable. Or that was his excuse. `Damn, Kagome really seems to be out of it…' Inuyasha began to worry a little. The limo stopped and he removed his arm from around her and got out to hold the door and help her out. But she didn't stir. Inuyasha crawled back in half way. "Kagome?" For a few seconds he lost his cool in concern for the girl. She looked up at him. Inu put his hand on her head to check her temp. Out of pure habit he muttered something about humans being stupid. He inwardly winced, hoping Kag wouldn't take the comment to seriously, if she even heard in her daze.
Inuyasha thought he would die if he was dragged into one more shop with Kagura. The other guys didn't mind; prolly cause they were around her 24/7 and were used to it. Inuyasha absent-mindedly followed Kagome around the stores. `I don't love her, I don't love her, I don't…' No matter how many times he tried to tell himself that he didn't love Kagome, his thoughts always returned to her. He had dismissed it a few times as his demon instincts just overreacting cause he was either ready for a mate, or needed to go rut around with Kikyo a little.
He had woken up a time or two in the past few days in a sweat. Images of Kagome's naked form tangled in his flashing before his eyes and haunting him for the rest of the day. But it wasn't just lust and he knew it. He longed to simply kiss her tender lips and hold her tight. Every time he looked at her he felt peaceful and almost complete… Almost. But at the same time he felt the tug and pull of his heart, aching to reach out and just make her his. He knew others were noticing a change in him.
It hadn't taken long for his demon to start the fight with his sanity for Kagome. She was obviously his soul mate. Why else would he be acting like this? He had always wanted Kikyo. But he knew she wasn't his mate. He thought that when the day came when he found his mate, he would hate it and push away every emotion. But now, he didn't care. He only wanted to be with her.
Inuyasha sense Kagome's discomfort. He looked up to watch what she was doing. He heard her muttering about the prices and put something back on the rack. "Buy anything you want." He had the money, and he had no problem spending every bit of it on Kagome if she wanted it. He know realized how much of a threat this girl was to him. He would seriously do anything for her, even if she were to turn him in or get him killed. No, they were soul mates, right? She had to be feeling something for him as well. Right?
Inuyasha looked at the few articles of cloths in Kagome's hands. He didn't like them. So he threw them. So maybe shopping wasn't so bad, it gave him time to spend with Kagome and an excuse to examine her delicate cloths in the fancy clingy dresses he picked out for her to try on.
On the walk back to their place, they stayed at the back of the crowd. Kagome had pulled him over once to look at a puppy in a window of a pet store. She laughed at how much it looked like him. But then she marveled over its cutness. `Does this mean she thinks I'm cute?' Inuyasha asked himself. It was more of something that just came to mind, not something to really ponder on.
But upon her dragging him over to the window, their hands had been locked, and the key obviously thrown away. She must not have noticed that she never let go of Inuyasha's hand. But Inuyasha's heart almost stopped when he noticed.
His heart jumped for joy when he saw her stopping at the wedding gowns. But upon seeing the sad longing look on her face, his heart crumbled. He never wanted to see such a look on his love's face. But here she was wearing it and his gut twisted. `Kagome…'
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
He needed an excuse, anything to keep her with him. So he had her play a game with her. He actually got a little carried away though. When he talked to her about the whole wedding dress thing, she seemed a little embarrassed. He grabbed her chin gently and turned her to look him in the eyes. He noted the small blush that tainted Kagome's fair cheeks. She was beautiful. He was leaning in, his gaze jumping down to her soft pink lips, slightly parted. He had intended to kiss her. But fate had other plans in mind.
BOOM BOOM BOOM
Inuyasha sniffed the air silently. `Kouga.' It was most likely time for the guys to have their little conference on the `thing' that there were gonna `do'. ((o_O))
"You're dreams will come true one day, I promise."

Is it long enough now? Cause if not, oh well. It annoyed me to no end to format it this way. Well, not really. I enjoyed that change. I'll stick to it. But right now, it's time for bed. But seriously, was I inspired or what? I threw in some really catchy adjectives. Well, I think so. Me not being the brightest in the box… You get the picture. Well, Enjoy!
