Happily Ever After…
“If you can make this happen, I'll love you forever!”
More than a few heads turned as the dark-haired beauty talking into the cell phone walked briskly down the connecting tunnel from the plane they'd just exited. She was dressed in a gray tweed skirt and matching blazer, black alligator heels rounding out the outfit. It wasn't her outfit that seemed to capture everyone's attention, however. It was the expression of excited joy that lit up her whole face, transforming her from beautiful to angelic.
“Come on, Miroku! You've got contacts with people I only dream of knowing! If you do me this one favor, I'll never ask you for anything ever again.”
She laughed at the response she got, stepping out into the waiting area. Her gaze scanned the mass of people gathered there waiting for loved ones and friends. There was only one person she was interested in seeing.
“Yeah, I just touched down…I don't see him, but I…there he is!” Not waiting for a reply, she said in rush, “Sorry, Miroku! Gotta go!” She flipped the cell phone closed as a bright smile broke out over her face. She hadn't seen him at first, but there he was, already walking toward her.
She clutched the black leather briefcase she was carrying and hurried toward him, her heart taking flight. Even now, after all this time, he managed to take her breath away. His golden eyes were intense as they stayed on her, the barest hint of a smile on those smooth lips. When he reached her, she dropped the briefcase and jumped into his arms, wrapping her arms and legs around him.
He looked momentarily taken aback, but his arms tightened around her.
“Welcome home, Mrs. Iakouy.”
“Thank you, Mr. Iakouy,” she responded with a teasing tone. She sighed happily and cupped his face. “I missed you, Sesshomaru.”
He moved his hand up to the back of her neck and brought her head down to his. “I know,” he said simply as he caught her lips in a tender kiss. She felt the familiar heat rush through her, melting her body against his. Fire flared between them and Kagome knew if they didn't stop soon they would make more than a few people uncomfortable.
She broke away reluctantly. Sesshomaru's gaze was heated as he looked up at her. “God, Kagome. You weren't even gone three weeks and it feels like months.” He nipped at her lower lip as he let her slide down his body. Kagome shivered as she brushed against the very hard evidence of his arousal.
“I know,” she said, trying to gain control of her rampant emotions. “Every day away from you was like missing a part of myself.” She tightened her hold around his neck. “I don't know if I can keep doing this. I mean, I love my job at The New York Daily Sun, but if it means doing this…”
Sesshomaru put a finger to her lips. “You can't quit a job you love just because of a little distance between us,” he told her matter-of-factly. “Besides,” he continued, his voice lowering to a husky whisper, “having you gone for so long only makes me want you even more.” He leaned down and kissed her again, hard and hot. Kagome moaned into his mouth and pressed even closer. It was Sesshomaru who ended the kiss this time.
“I really have to get you home,” he murmured, stepping away and taking her hand. Kagome pouted, disappointed at not having him near. She sighed and settled for the warmth of his hand, following as he led her down the wide corridor leading to the baggage claim area.
“So how was the lecture?” He asked, glancing over at her. Kagome smiled. “It was great! I mean, I still don't think I was all that interesting, but the students seemed to be into it.”
Her lecture at NYU had gone better than she'd expected. Prior to the lecture, she'd stressed over things such as whether or not the kids would find what she had to say interesting or helpful and if she'd run out of things to say. She had visions of being on a stage in a half-filled auditorium with blank, bored faces staring back at her.
Instead, almost from the time she'd stepped onto the stage, the students had asked her question after question. How did she get into the business? What were her favorite stories? How did it feel to win a Pulitzer Prize at such a young age?
She had enjoyed each and every question and was actually disappointed when her hour and half was up. The president of the university had welcomed her back and Kagome had promised to take him up on his offer.
Sesshomaru couldn't help giving her a small smile. “Anybody would have been impressed by your accomplishments. Not everybody can say they were instrumental in taking down the infamous Iakouys.”
Kagome noticed the tightness around his mouth and squeezed his hand. “All of that is in the past,” she told him, not wanting to remember that hellish time nearly two years ago. She still had nightmares about giant spiders menacing her from dark corners. Naraku may be dead, but his insane legacy lived on.
“With Onigumo running the company now, the Iakouy reputation is well on its way to its former glory,” she continued with a knowing smile. Sesshomaru looked down and nodded, but she saw the doubt that lurked just below the surface. She realized that as much as those events haunted her, it had to be a hundred times worse for him. Not only had he lost Kagura at the hands of Naraku, he'd also lost a brother, even though Kagome wasn't sure how much the latter really bothered him.
“I'll grab your bags,” he said, breaking into her thoughts. Kagome hadn't noticed that they'd arrived at baggage claim and nodded as he left to retrieve her two suitcases.
She stood watching him, a slight frown on her face. Now that she'd started thinking about it, she wondered just how Sesshomaru dealt with everything. On the outside, he was his usual self: aloof, coolly composed. But how was he on the inside?
Kagome suddenly realized how selfish she'd been. When she'd tracked him down here in Tokyo, her only concern had been building a new life with him. They'd gotten married six months later and she'd been content. She'd gotten her happily ever after and as far as she was concerned, everything that had happened to them prior to their new life was a distant nightmare.
But it couldn't have been that way for him.
As much as she'd been through, Sesshomaru had bore the worst of it. Sure, she'd almost died, but he was the one who'd lived with his secret for all those years, had to come to terms with what his family had become.
“Oh, Sesshomaru.” She whispered, finding that she was close to tears. He had grabbed her bags and was walking back to her. She quickly composed herself, pasting on a smile. The last thing she wanted was to worry him.
“Ready?” He asked, holding out his arm. Kagome nodded. “Let's go home.”
~~~~~~
Home was actually the penthouse suite at the Crowne Plaza. They still weren't decided on where exactly they wanted to call home. Sesshomaru was still working here in Tokyo as head director of Tranquil Springs, but it was temporary. He merely wanted to get the facility back on the right track. Once it was, he would find somebody suitable for the position. He was hesitant to join Onigumo in running the company. Kagome, on the other hand, was dividing her time between New York and Tokyo. Most of the time she sent her stories to The New York Daily Sun by fax or email unless she was actually needed at the New York office.
Until they came to a definite decision, they were content with the suite. It was fairly close to Tranquil Springs and had excellent accommodations.
They greeted the desk clerk on their way to the elevators and dropped all pretenses when they nearly jumped each other once the doors slid shut.
Kagome made the first move, pressing him back against the wall and running her hands under his black button-down shirt. Her fingers tingled as they came in contact with his smooth, hard chest. Every inch was well-defined, taut with muscle. She imagined all those pale, hard planes and nearly groaned with wanton lust.
Sesshomaru saw the raw need in her eyes and bent his head, his lips instantly finding the mark that branded her as his for eternity. He licked the sensitive spot and smiled as she let out a shaky sigh.
“God, Sesshomaru, I want you so bad I can hardly wait to get you into bed.” Her voice was husky with promises of things to come. Sesshomaru closed his eyes and grit his teeth against an overwhelming wave of need. He had an intense impulse to switch positions and take her right there in the elevator. The impulse was so strong that he actually lowered his hands to her waist, his thumbs hooking in the top of her skirt.
“Shit,” he muttered as the bell announced that they were at their destination. The doors slid open and he quickly grabbed Kagome by the waist and dragged her out along with her luggage. He fumbled in his pocket for the key and was glad that they were the only occupants of the floor. There were four suites and the other three were empty.
He shoved the small gold key in the lock and threw open the door. No sooner had they entered when Sesshomaru dropped the luggage, kicked the door closed and pinned Kagome against the door, seemingly all in one swift motion.
Kagome gave a small gasp of surprise as his body leaned into hers, effectively trapping her. She looked up at him with wide innocent eyes, her arms trailing up his arms.
“Why, Mr. Iakouy! What on earth are you doing?”
Sesshomaru slowly unbuttoned the gray blazer, pulling if off her shoulders and tossing it aside. Underneath was a silky black shell, plunging deeply at the neckline to show her slightly heaving bosom.
“I think,” he murmured as he lifted her arms above her head, “that I'm doing what I've wanted to do since I saw you step off the plane.” He removed the flimsy undershirt and tossed it with the blazer. Now she stood before him nearly topless, only her lacy black bra obstructing his view of her lovely breasts.
“And what's that, Mr. Iakouy?” Her voice was teasing. Sesshomaru tore his gaze away from her chest and smirked. He bucked his hips against her lightly, letting her feel just how turned on he was. She shuddered reactively, biting down on her lower lip.
“If I have to tell you, Mrs. Iakouy, then that means it's been too long,” he said, reaching out to fondle her right breast. She arched into his hand and gripped his hips, holding him to her.
“Oh, it has been too long, Sesshomaru,” she said, her tone urgent. Her entire body was aching from head to toe and she knew exactly what would ease that ache. “You see, while I was gone, I dreamed of making love to you every…single…night.” As she spoke, her hands were busy unbuckling his pants. Next, she moved to his zipper.
“But as soon as I saw you at the airport, all I've wanted since then is for you to be inside of me as soon as possible,” she slid the zipper down and shoved his pants and boxers down. She looked up at him. He was staring at her, his golden eyes so dark with desire that they looked almost black. Kagome encircled his neck with her arms.
“So if you don't mind, Sesshomaru, I'd like you to fuck me here and now as hard and fast as you can.”
She said it so sweetly that Sesshomaru hesitated for just a moment. But then he saw the fierce glint in her misty gray depths and couldn't help leaning down to place a swift kiss on her lips.
“You really should be careful what you wish for.” His voice was low and dark and sent a shot of heat straight to Kagome's core. She didn't have time to think as he lifted her hips, positioning himself between her thighs. She wrapped her legs around his waist and clung to his shoulders, already anticipating what was to come.
His hands were gripping her bottom so tightly that she was certain he would leave marks…
Kagome had to bite her lip to hold back the scream that threatened to burst forth.
Sesshomaru had entered her so quickly and deeply that he'd taken her completely by surprise. He filled her so wholly that it felt like he filled every pore in her body. She leaned into him, leaning her check against his.
He moved at a fluid pace, his thrusts fierce and pounding. His hands were holding her tightly in place, his breathing harsh in her ear.
She'd never heard anything sexier
“I love…your voice,” she breathed against his ear. She was rewarded with a low growl as Sesshomaru quickened the pace, his muscles tight as he pumped into her. He was working toward a release that wasn't too far off. Feeling Kagome's tightness, her slick heat gripping him mercilessly, was driving him to the edge.
God, he'd never get tired of that feeling.
Kagome was moaning low in her throat, her nails digging into his back and he knew that she was close. He shifted his angle and felt her body's instantaneous response, her moans transforming into sharp gasps as he hit that special spot over and over.
“Sesshomaru!” She breathed. She tightened her grip on him, feeling a tightness within, something waiting to be released. “Sesshomaru, Sesshomaru…please…please!” She was babbling, mindless with a devastating need for release. She arched against him, willing him to go as deep as he dared, daring him to send her into that reeling dark abyss.
And he did.
He pressed her back against the door, his hands now on her hips. He hammered into her with such wild abandon that the door began to shake in its frame. He drew back, almost completely withdrawing from her. Kagome clawed at his back desperately. He leaned back just enough so he could look at her, look into those wild, passion-filled eyes.
“Look at me, Kagome.” His voice was rasping, low, but it was an unmistakable command. Kagome found his gaze and held onto it, drowning in those molten pools of gold. He held her gaze for a moment before sliding into her again, hard and deep. Just as quickly, he covered her mouth with his, swallowing her scream as both of them fell over the edge.
Kagome held onto Sesshomaru as if her life depended on it. Her body convulsed in a wave of spasms, her head hanging limp against his shoulder. Sesshomaru fell against her, his weight pinning her against the door. It was a tad bit uncomfortable, but Kagome didn't mind.
“I think that was the best welcome home present I've ever been given,” she said with a small smile. Sesshomaru leaned back, his expression incredulous. “You think?” He fixed her with a mock glare. Kagome gave him an impish grin, placing a light kiss on his neck.
“Let me correct that,” she said apologetically as she moved her lips to kiss the corner of his mouth. “That was definitely the best most wonderfully glorious -”
Sesshomaru rolled his eyes and kissed her, effectively shutting her up. Kagome sighed and leaned into him. When he was fairly sure he'd gotten his point across, he looked down at her, one eyebrow raised.
“Well?”
“I love you, Sesshomaru.”
He gave a short nod, a slight smirk on his sensuous lips. “I know.”
“Hey!” Kagome said indignantly. He almost laughed at the expression on her face, but he didn't. Instead, his kissed the tip of nose.
“I love you, too.”
As he carried her to the bedroom, she knew without a doubt in her mind that those three little words would never truly be able to convey the true depth of her feelings for him. Not in a million years.
