Kagome looked down at her watch. It was getting really late. She had hoped to be home by the time the sun went down, but she had been kept at school late because of a late play practice she'd forgotten about. It was the week before the play and they still had two weeks of work left to do, so everyone had been kept until 10:30.

It was 11:28 now. Her mom was going to be angery. She sighed, looking around the empty street. Just two more blocks 'till home; not that that was where she rally wanted to be right now...

Kagome had just rounded the last corner before here building when she felt something grab her arm. She gasped in surprise as a cold hand covered her mouth, stopping her from screaming.

"Hello there, love," said a strange, raspy whisper from behind her. The voice chilled her to the bone and made her shiver. "Would you like to have a drink with me?" the man chuckled. She felt herself being pulled backward and struggled, but it was no use. She couldn't get away. Whoever - or whatever- this person was, he was way stronger than herself.

Suddenly, everything went black.

When she woke up again, it seemed only minutes later, she was in a dark room. IT was only just light enough for here to make out the outlines of her surroundings.

'W-where am I?' she thought, trying to concentrate through her dizziness.

"Awake, love?" she heard the voice again. "Good... you're just in time for dinner," she felt a sharp pain in her neck and tried to get away, but the rope holding her to her chair wouldn't allow it.

Inuyasha yawned. Not that he was tired or anything. He was just bored. There used to be tons of vampires and rogue wolves for him to kill...now there were almost none.

He started up his motorcycle again. The engine purred so softly, only he could hear it. He moved slowly from street to street, waiting for a call....a scream....anything...

Then he heard it. A muffled gasp from a block away... then came a click and the smell of blood.

Inuyasha pulled back the right handle gently and the bike jerked forward. Soon, he was in the shadows, watching as a young girl was dragged into a small, dimly lit building. Sighing and pressing a button on the side of his bike, Inuyasha got up off of the motorcycle and caught the sword that popped from the side of the vehicle with a small 'click' then he clipped it to his belt before pulling his gun from his shoulder holster and checking that it was properly loaded. It was. He replaced the firearm in its holster and walked toward the small building, debating with himself as to wether or not he should've brought a higher calibur gun.

'Nah... this one looks weak anyway... a couple of silver hallow - points should put'm in his place.'

He walked in the door and yawned again. 'Stupid blood-head left the door open.... must've really been hungry.' Silently following the smell of blood, he walked down a nearby staircase and saw a young looking vampire sitting in front of his computer, undoubtably checking to see what blood type the girl was while waiting for her to wake up or putting on some entertaining music for his meal.

Most vamps were sick like that, wanting their victims to be awake while their life was drained away.

Then he stood up and Inuyasha watched as the vamp stepped into his safe range fo fire. He had a clear shot now, even if the vamp was close to the girl. She was obviously awake now, looking around. She looked terrified and Inuyasha smiled. 'Kinda cute when she's scared, really.' He pulled out his gun and aimed it at the vamp's leg as it spoke.

"Awake, love?" it said. "Good... you're just in time for dinner" Just as it began to bite down, Inuyasha fired a warning shot that grazed its leg. It releasted her and dropped to one knee, hissing. Steam was rising from the wound.

"Stop now and I won't have to kill you," Inuyasha said, stepping forward, down the stairs.

The vampire laughed. "You'll kill me anyway! You just want my food!" it smiled maniacly, pulling its arm back. "If I can't have it, neither can you!"

Inuyasha pulled the trigger as fast as he could when he realized what was about to happen, but he was too late. The girl gasped and caughed, trying to breathe as blood filled her lungs and flowed from her mouth as she struggled to breath.

Inuyasha jumped down the rest of the stairs and ripped the vamp's arm from her chest just as it ashed then ripped the rope from around her wrists before pulling her close. "I'm sorry....." he said softly... almost emotionlessly.....almost.... "You're going to die..." he said honestly..."Unless...." he thought for a moment. "Do you wish to live?"

He pulled away and looked at her closely. She looked even more terrified than before and coughed again, still trying to get air into her lungs. ASll she could do as darkness filled her vision was nod. So she did, just as everything went black.

Suddenly, she felt a slight pain all over her body before, even more suddenly, her mind went blank and the pain was gone. She felt light. It was as if she weighed nothing... and all she wanted to do was sleep...so she did.

Inuyasha looked down at his sword. IT was titanium allow. Almost indestructable, with a razor sharp silver edge that had cut through countless vampires.

He was a trained hunter. Never had he failed to protect a human. Never had he been so slow. He laughed to himself. Maybe he was a little too old for this. Technically, he was only 21, but in human years he was well over 140 years old. he was one of the older hunters. THis was mostly because there was little need for hunters in this day and age. In fact, there were only 8 others in his division and he was the only Dog.

Sheathing the sword, he clipped the shealth to his belt and looked up. There were footsteps. They were coming closer.

'Probably Sango coming to scold me or something,' he thought to himself.

The footsteps stopped outside his door and he stood up, watching as it slid open. Behind it stood a petite girl wearing a lab coat that looked way too big for her and her dark red hair pulled back in a pony tail. Her ID said Ayame Wolfe.

"The girl's ok," she said, but she didn't seem bery happy. "Inuyasha, what were you thinking?!" she yelled. "We can't afford any pets and you know it. And don't you dare say 'she followed me home' you ass! We're supposed to be killing the biters!"

Inuyasha, who had been about to say something, stopped, then began, "she was going to die. I had to do something."

She seemed to become a little more annoyed. "You should've let her die, Yash. Comfort her like the book says. At the very least, don't bite'r."

Inuyasha looked into her eyes, baring his fangs and growling softly. "Shut up! I did what I had to."

Ayame growled back, storming away. "Fine! Don't come to me next time you carry a half-dead bitch home!"

Inuyasha growled softly as he watched the door slowly slide back into place.

Kagome awoke slowly, opening her eyes to a bright florescent light. That same weightlessness was still there from the night before. She wondered if she had hit her head on something. She sat up, loking around the room slowly. It looked like a regular hospital room, only her bed was in the center of the room instead of at the edge and there were no windows. The walls were made of metal and there were computers and various types of equipment all around her.

Then she noticed something weird. Why was she still alive? Why was she able to sit up? She looked down. She was wearing a thin grey shirt and matching sweat pants. Laying on a bead with what felt like silk sheets. She quickly lifted up the shirt only enough to see her stomach where the arm had been thrust through. All that was left was a very light scar, as if she had fallen and scrapped herself a few years ago.

"Woot!" said a fairly feminine voice from behind her.

Kagome quickly pulled her shirt down and spun around, rolling off the bed and raising her claws, ready to defend herself.

'Wait.....claws?'
