Chapter 6

 

The Full Moon and the Not So Human Inu-Yasha

Cold and Damp. Kagome shivered, wishing she had more than a stupid school uniform. They had been walking in the forest for a hour at least. The dark trees loomed over them, looking like black monsters with their claws reaching out to rip at her. She would kill for a jacket; everyone else seemed to be comfortable all dressed for the weather.

 

Miroku had taken off some of his outer robes for Sango; she had been shivering horribly trying to hide it. But now they looked happy walking off with each other, seemed so content by being near each other. Kouga had given Kat and Sukki a large skin to share. He walked smiling next to them. Yura stalked near the back, Kagome head's turned Inu-Yasha was walking just behind Miroku and Sango.

 

She turned and shivered again. This was ridiculous you would think whatever divine powers or crazy god thing, would have at least gave her time to pack her nice long leather coat, Gods she would be so warm in it. The furry interior would be so nice.

 

Her teeth started to chatter a little, as she clamped her mouth down desperately trying to stop it. She rubbed her arms, Damn she wished she didn't yell at them; maybe some one would give her something. She closed her eyes trying to think of warm spots, like snuggling in her comforter or with her coat, when she felt something warm around her shoulder.

 

She opened her eyes, to see Inu-Yasha's red jacket thing, on her. She looked up to him, he was looking straight ahead. He turned his head down to face and smile at her. It was short, but Kagome returned it and laid her head down on his shoulder. He wrapped an arm around her.

 

They were on father, and Kagome felt so safe from the trees with Inu-Yasha by her side, she could feel the warmth radiating off of him. It was like her life source, and as that thought went into her mind, it was yanked from her. She looked up started, he was still there. His hand slowly shifted across her face and he pecked her quickly on the cheek, before running off into the back.

 

Everyone had stopped, watching Kagome. Hand went up to where he had kissed her. She noticed every looking at her she blushed furiously. Why had he done that? Something was wrong she had a feeling in her gut. She looked up to the moon less sky then looked back to where Inu-Yasha headed off. She started to stalk off, but Kat and Yura snatched her up and pushed her up forward.

 

No one thought Kagome noticed but Kat's head jerked and Miroku and Sango heads turned to the sky, and then quickly suggested they hurry to the town up ahead. Kat snatched her up in her arms, and started to run. Kouga grabbed Yura and chased after Kat, Kirara transformed and Sango Miroku and Sukki flew off into the night's sky.

 

And from the awkward position in Kat's arms, she looked into the sky, was the moonless night have to do something with Inu-Yasha's disappearance. She wrapped the only reminder she had of him,- besides the kiss and touch that still tingled on her cheek- around her shoulders. She wanted so badly for it to Inu-Yasha carrying her, because right now she just wanted to snuggle into his broad chest.

They got to the Inn and the girls were in the room, Kagome looked at her yellow bag, she still didn't take Inu-Yasha's coat off. Something odd about it since they left. Amazingly she hadn't checked it out yet. She sighed. She pulled it closer to her, un-did the latch and flipped the lid up. Her hand slowly groped around the bag for her pen and paper.

 

`Book, Book, Ramen, Book, First Aid Kit, Furry thing.. Wait furry thing? She took it and gave a tug. “Ugh” did her ears deceive her? “Did your bag just talk?” Yura asked. Kagome gave an un-sure nod. “I think so.” She tugged harder on the furry thing, and out popped a tail... but attached to the tail was Shippo.

 

“Shippo!” Chorused all the girls in the room. “How did you last that long in there!” Kagome cried, still holding Shippo by his tail, “You had chocolate in there and besides it's so big you didn't even notice. Can you put me down?” Kagome frowned. “No.” He crossed his arms the best he could. “Gessh you're acting like Inu-Yasha,....back then anyway.” The last part in whisper, Kagome didn't know what it meant but she ignored it, she did the same when Sukki said “So are you” in the same whisper tone.

 

She inwardly slapped her self on the head, Gods she was almost as bad as he was. Even with that haunting her she still scolded Shippo, “I should take you right in there to him and let him pound you! I thought we told you! You just can't come! You could get hurt and die! Naraku is evil, and you don't know how much it would hurt me if you die!!” All eye suspiciously landed on her, she didn't seemed fazed by it her anger probably not letting her think of what she said.

 

“It doesn't matter anyways, he's not here.” Kagome almost dropped Shippo, “What do you mean Inu-Yasha's not here!?!” Sukki slunk into a corner, whispering a “you guys take it.” Evil eyes landing on her, “ Now there will be two on Inu-Yasha's death list hun?” Sango said spitefully. Shippo sighed, “I might as well.”

 

He looked at Kagome, still hanging upside down arms still crossed. “Well, Usually on the night of the full moon Inu-Yasha turned human, it is normal for Half-demons to lose their powers one night in the month. But you see Kenija casted a spell on him turning him into a raging killing machine, using the strong demon blood in him. But that can happen under other circumstances too.”

 

Kagome now dropped him with a thud, she pulled on her shoes and rushed out, the rest of them following Kagome, screaming to Stop. Don't. She rushed passed the boys room, as they stepped out Sango screaming `She knows! She is going after him' Kouga took off bolting. Kagome's adrenaline pumping, she had to run and run and run.

 

Kouga was catching up on her, as she ran into the forest. He stopped, he had to go get Kagome before he killed her. He wouldn't be able to fight off Inu-Yasha on his own. He ran back to Miroku and the rest of them, most ready to go and they took off. Some how they all ran into a barrier that no one could break.

 

Miroku's eyes widen. “She put it up.” Kouga growled and muttered “One scratch. One scratch and I swear.” There was nothing they could do about it, sighing they rushed back to the rooms. Hopefully he would have some reason, but who ever spilled was going to be dead. He now looked suspiciously at Shippo who now perched on Sango's shoulder.

 

“Didn't they say you couldn't go?” Shippo hung his head, everyone was going to ask him this tonight. He took a deep breath. “I soled away in Kagome's bag.” Miroku smiled and ruffled his head. “Heh, I can't believe you pulled it off.” Shippo smiled. “Yeah..”

Kagome was breathless, she had stopped a few feet with in the forest. She knew Kouga was hesitant to enter, she wondered if he could beat Inu-Yasha up now as he usually bragged to her. “Keh, probably not.” She scoffed, she turned her attention to finding Inu-Yasha. She sighed she didn't bring anything to protect her.

 

She made her way though the woods, looking for a sliver or red blur, or golden eyes looking at her. Kagome smiled, I'm most likely going to get a lecture on how you should always bring some thing to protect your self. She sighed, it was funny how he would always do that.

 

She deiced on quietly calling out his name, “Inu-Yasha, Inu-Yasha.” She found a clearing and a rock, her feet hurt. She was going to sit down, she needed to rest. “Inu-Yasha.” she called a bit louder. She closed her eyes, she heard rustling. She looked to a bush that was in front of her. “Inu-Yasha?” she questioned.

 

A little white bunny bounce out of it. It bounced out right passed Kagome, she laughed at her self. “Scared of a little bunny.” She scoffed, she looked back to the bush, when it rustled again. She looked harder, “Inu-Yasha?”

 

Now a huge bear demon came out growling, her eyes widened. “You know Inu-Yasha?” It growled out. “You the priestess who killed my leader?” Kagome gulped of course no arrows now or flashy powers to show off. Kagome laughed nervously. “Uh... I was just resting, but my feet feel fine now so I'm just going to be going” Kagome said standing up heading for the way she just came.

 

The bear demon growled, swing a paw at her. It didn't hit her but it made her lose her balance and tripped over the rock behind her. She screamed, as she fell back and made a thud on the ground. She screamed again and louder when the demon came at her again with a paw. She shut her eyes tight as she could, waiting for death to come.

 

She opened her eyes, when she heard the sound of death. The demon was sliced in half, part of his torso and head, slicing off revealing his insides to her. Behind that was the culprit who had done it. It looked just like Inu-Yasha, Sliver hair same height, and build. His face had to purple streaks on either side, and his eyes were red with an emerald center, they were blazing at her, like a cat that had found it's next prey.

 

She smiled, “Inu-Yasha” she said sweetly. “It's me Kagome.” The demon in front of her growled. “Mate come.” He said and stalked off. Kagome guess he was talking to her, and complied to his wishes. They walked for a while before Inu-Yasha stopped, Kagome running into him. He spun quickly grabbing her by her waist, and holding her close.

 

She blushed, “Um...Thank you. But you can let me go now..” Inu-Yasha growled, hugged her closer. She could feel his hot breath on her, a shiver went down her spine. He was looking directly into her eyes,

she searched franticly in his to see some kind of feeling in his eyes. “Why did you come?”

 

His voice was deeper, and sort of husked with something, she couldn't quite point out. “I...I was worried about you.” She couldn't help but snuggle into him as she had been yearning for before. He let it go for a while, until her took her chin up, his eyes quickly changing in-between gold and emerald.

 

“I'm sorry,” His voice came out in a rushed hushed whisper, emerald claiming his eyes. Before he claimed her lips, and pulled her into a passionate kiss. She melted, gasped as he brought her head back , using it as and advantage he slipped his tongue in though her parted lips. Her tongue greeted his before submitting to him letting him search the rest of her mouth.

 

She was in compete shock, as he broke the kiss. He seemed to realize something as though he was arguing with someone. “You must leave. Now.” He said demand written all in his voice. Kagome shook her head, “Never! I'm staying here with you. You've done something to me, and now you have to pay for it.”

 

Inu-Yasha's eyes widen again, before coming back. “Fine” He growled. He snatched her up, and found a good spot in the tree above them, he stetted in, as Kagome did before lying her head down on his chest. Before drifting off to sleep, she said “You know, It's funny.” She sounded as though she was drunk. “I think I may have fallen, fallen in love with you.”

 

He smiled. `Oh if only you knew Kagome, If only you knew.'
