All throughout the mansion the sound of yelling and the bustling staff shattered the early morning peace. In the halls, Ororo was getting the mansion organized and cleaned up for the arrival of their new staff member.

“Rogue! Is the room cleaned up and ready yet?!”

“Calm down sugar, everything is taken care of. Besides there is no hurry, she won't be arriving till the late afternoon anyway,” Rogue said flying by, nearly knocking down a vase.

“How many times do you have to be told not to fly in the house? Charles has put down strict orders to make sure the new staff feels welcomed. He said something about her not being familiar with mutants, so we do not want to give her the impression that we mutants are savage and barbaric beings.”

Logan arrived back to the mansion late the night before, and had gone straight to bed. During his absence, he had not received any news of the new staff member that would be arriving in the afternoon. The early morning racket woke Logan up, with a bad headache and a not so pleasant temper.

`God what the fuck is all this noise this damn early in the morning? It's not even a weekday, its Saturday for god sakes. *sigh* That smile, and those eyes I cannot get them out of my head, her eyes held so much sorrow, pain and longing yet they were so beautiful. Why in the hell am I still thinking of her anyway? I barely know her and will probably never see her again.' Shaking his head to remove that thought, his headache came back, this time twice as bad. `Fucking noise, fucking headache, fucking people who cannot keep their damn mouths shut!'

After a few minuets of lying in bed, Logan gave up all hope of getting any more sleep. Getting out of bed, he took a quick cold shower and slipped on a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt. Walking out of his room he saw the whole staff already up and heading to the Professor's study.

“What the hell is going on here? You people have been making so much damn noise the whole morning it's enough to raise the dead,” Logan half stated half yelled at the staff that had just noticed his presence.

The group stared at him blankly, wondering when Logan had returned from his travels. Jean was the first to realize Logan was not informed of the news and spoke up to clear the confusion.

“Oh, welcome back Logan. We were all just heading over to the Professor's office; he called a meeting this morning to talk to us about the new member of our staff. The new member should be arriving this afternoon, and the Professor wanted to talk to us about it.”

Logan snorted and decided to join them in the meeting. `A new staff member? Why wasn't I informed of something like that? Then again, I have been traveling; they probably couldn't contact me. I wonder what this new person is going to be like. Damn, he better not be some wimpy ass that I have to baby sit all day.'

“Ah, it's great that everyone is here, and I'm glad you're back Logan, good timing you have I must say.” Logan gave the Professor a questioning look. `What did he mean by that?' “As you all know, our new addition to our teaching staff will be arriving later today. She is a normal human, so we need to make some arrangement so she will not get intimidated or scared.”

With that said, there seemed to be a few looks of protest among the group. Rogue was the first to express her concern with the new staff member. “Sir, are you sure it's a good idea employing a normal human? She might get scared and hate us. What if she sells us out?” A few others nodded their heads in agreement.

The Professor only replied calmly, “I understand your concern, but I assure you all she is a very peaceful and accepting person. Besides, she was personally recommended for the job by a very dear friend that I trust. If he believes that she is fit for the job then she will be fine. Just to be safe we will be keeping a close eye on her for the first few weeks until she is settled. That is where you come in Logan. Since you are the only one here that is fluent in Japanese you will be her primary source of assistance if she need any. There is a good two months before the first term starts, by then she should be settled. That is all, this meeting is dismissed” Everyone filed out of the office slightly concerned, except Logan who was fuming now.

`Damn it all to hell. I had a sick feeling this was going to happen. Now I am stuck babysitting a girl for the next couple of weeks. Of all the people I get stuck doing this damn job!' Everyone around Logan at the moment knew he was not happy with the arrangements. The walls of the mansion shook as Logan stormed into his room and slammed the door shut.

The intercom on the plane announced it was towards the end of the flight. “Thank you for traveling with us, we have now arrived in New York. Please enjoy your stay.”

After the long red eye flight, Kagome was feeling stiffer than a board. Her legs felt wobbly as she walked off the plane. `Man I feel like my ass and legs were put in a blender. That was the longest plane ride I have ever been on, I would rather have Inuyasha drag me across Japan shard hunting than sit like that every again.' Making her way to baggage claim, she suddenly felt a tingling sensation in the back of her neck. `I sense a demon, a strong one too, but there are hardly any this strong left now days. This one is trying to hide his aura, he is doing a good job too, but nobody gets by me.' Concentrating a bit harder, the aura felt very familiar to her. `I know this aura, all too well too. Is he really still around? I remember when he joined us like it was only yesterday.'

~~~Flashback~~~
The group of shard hunters were making their way through the forest as usual, when Inuyasha suddenly came to a halt and moved into a defensive stance. Kagome looked questionably at Inuyasha.
“Inuyasha, what is the matter?” Right after she said that Kagome felt the demonic presence coming towards them. In response to Kagome's question, Inuyasha only snarled, “Sesshoumaru.”
Just then Sesshoumaru appeared, accompanied by a two headed dragon, his ugly toad servant, and the most adorable little girl, clinging to his pant leg.
“Sesshoumaru what are you doing here? If you are here to get Tetsusaiga, you can forget it!” Inuyasha yelled while drawing out a transformed Tetsusaiga.
Walking up to Inuyasha, Kagome put her hand on his shoulder to try to calm him. “Inuyasha, I think you should but your sword away. I really don't thing Sesshoumaru is here to fight”
“Feh, get out of the way before you get hurt Kagome. Damn it, do you want to get killed or something?”
“You should listen to your miko little brother. I am not here to fight; I am here to offer a temporary alliance against that vile hanyou Naraku.”
It was obvious to everyone that the group would need as much help as they could get in the battle to defeat Naraku, all except Inuyasha. “We don't need your help! You would probably betray us any way!”
Ignoring what Inuyasha said, Kagome stepped out with a welcoming smile. “Yes, we would be very grateful for your assistance Lord Sesshoumaru.” Sesshoumaru only answered with a nod and settled in with the group.
“No fucking way! He is not joining the group!” Inuyasha retorted, while trying to attack Sesshoumaru.
“Sit boy, Inuyasha, we are going to need Sesshoumaru's help whether you like it or not.” Kagome stated simply. Seeing his half brother smashed to ground with one word from the young miko was quite amusing to Sesshoumaru.
The rather large group gathered their things together and continued their journey. All of a sudden, Kagome tensed. “Inuyasha there are three jewel shards coming” With that said, two lizard youkia and a snake youkia attacked the group. Inuyasha fought one of the lizard youkia and Sesshoumaru took on the other one while Sango and Miroku battled with the snake youkia.
“Kagome”, Inuyasha yelled, “take Shippou and Rin and go hide.” With a nod, Kagome picked up Shippou and Rin, and hid behind some bushes. Kagome looked over at her companions who were having a lot of trouble bringing down the demons they were fighting, due to the demons regenerating from the power of the shards. From her hiding place, Kagome yelled out, “The lizard youkia have shards in their chest and the snake has a shard in his tail!” The snake youkia turned his attention to Kagome. Knocking Sango and Miroku into a tree, the snake youkia lunged towards Kagome and the kids. In an effort to save the children, Kagome did the only thing she could think of, and threw herself in front of the kids to shield them form the attack, but it never came.
After hearing the miko yell out the location of the shards, Sesshoumaru quickly disposed of the lizard youkai he was handling. Looking over to where the miko and the children hid, he saw the snake youkai going after them. With as much speed as he could muster, Sesshoumaru ran forward and killed the snake youkai before it was able to hurt the miko and the children. Looking at the miko coolly, he questioned “Miko, do you not know how to defend you self?” Kagome only shook her head. “You will be learning how to defend yourself with me every night until I deem other wise.”
Over the next year, Kagome would travel during the day and train by night. The first few weeks of her training were torture. Waking up with muscle pains and drained, sometimes she would rather be killed by the slave driving demon lord than train with him. As the weeks and months went on, Kagome improved a great deal and at the same time got to know Sesshoumaru a lot better. At times, Kagome would feel uncomfortable with the close body contact she had with Sesshoumaru when he would correct her form with the sword. By the end of her training, they had formed a strong bond.
~~~end flashback~~~

`Funny, if I was not dragged back to my time who knows what could have become of our friendship.' Still deep in thought, Kagome did not realize the demonic aura getting closer until she walked right into a firm solid chest. Startled out of her train of thought, she was about to apologize when she looked up to see a tall man with long silver hair and an angelic face that she would never forget. Standing there, staring at the man she believed had been dead, she only stuttered out one word before she passed out from shock, “Sess- Sesshoumaru...”
