Sitting cross-legged on the bed across from Kagome, Shippo plays his Game Boy in the late evening. Expertly pressing buttons to execute complex combos, the grown fox demon retains much of his childishness. Kagome chuckles warmly at the demon before her submerge in his video game. “Shippo, you are worse than Souta is with your addiction to video games.”
Sticking his tongue out childishly at Kagome Shippo scuffs, “Feh, I am not addicted. All fight and no play make Shippo a boring fox.”
Getting out of the blankets, Kagome crawls over to Shippo yanking the entertainment devise out of his claws and turns it off. Shippo wail in rage, “Ahh…! Nee-san what did you do that for? Give it back!” Shippo tries desperately to reach for the small devise Kagome have behind her, place just out of his reach. Holding the fox off, Kagome taps Shippo lightly on the nose with a tiny bit of energy on her fingertips sending a tingling feeling to the tip of his nose. Shippo yelps out at the contact, “Eeep!” Rubbing his nose and twitching it, Kagome giggles at the silly fox and extends a hand to stroke his auburn hair. Tugging on him gently, Kagome coaxes the hyperactive fox to go to sleep.
Crawling under the covers, Kagome snuggles against the warm body beside her. Draping an arm around Kagome, Shippo sniggers, “Don't you think I am a bit old to be sharing the same bed as you Kagome?”
Kagome shifts slightly murmuring quietly. “ No, you will never be to old to me, beside you make a much better pillow now that you are no longer a ball of fur. Oh and before I forget, stop trying to provoke Logan so much. He is not Inuyasha you know. Oyasuminasai Shippo.”
Holding the sleeping body next to him Shippo whispers quietly to himself. “Oyasumi Kagome nee-san. I will protect you now like how you use to take care of me. I promise.” A scheming smirk flutters across his face, “First things first, I am finding me a brother-in-law.”
Logan tears his way violently out of Kagome's room trembling in anger and frustration. It is not everyday Logan can work the courage to open up about his feelings. The redheaded man just rubs him the wrong way. In addition to his initiative dislike for that redhead, the comments the fox-man made insinuating a relationship between pretty-boy and Kagome just sets him off. Just to avoid attacking the other man, since Kagome will be sure to become angry with him if he did, Logan leaves Kagome's room to avoid kill something. Preferably, that something will be the red head that is currently all over Kagome. Storming through the halls cursing all things in existence with every known vulgar and derogatory term known to man, Logan runs right into Jean.
Nearly knocking her over, Logan moves too stop her from falling to the ground. Jean, seeing the enraged look on Logan's face voices her concern in a hushed voice. “Logan, what is the matter with you? Is there something wrong with Kagome?”
Logan scuffs angrily, “No, Kagome is just fine. It is that `damn shit-face' fox mutant. That fucker just rubs me the wrong way.” At the thought of the fox, Logan clenches his fist tightly, digging his nails into the flesh of his palms.
Jean places a comforting hand on Logan's shoulder in attempt to calm her seething teammate. “Does he really Logan, or are you just overly jealous of any other male that she is close to?”
Seeing that Jean saw right though him, Logan admittedly answers with a disgruntle “humph”. Taking the one syllabic sound as a affirmative answer, Jean gives a sigh. “You can not hate and kill every male she is on friendly terms with. Do not worry too much Logan; I am sure Kagome feels for you too. Just give her some time for those feelings to develop more. If I remember correctly, I recall you being quite stubborn with you were infatuated with me. You never seem to back down even though I am with Scott. The hurdle you have with Kagome should be nothing you cannot handle. Honestly, you really have not need to fuss over Shippo and Kagome's relationship. Kagome loves him like a brother not as a lover. That Sesshou character though I will look out for it is hard to tell if their love is platonic or not. Well any way, if are serious about your feelings for Kagome, then you are going to have to learn to deal with the other men in her life. Now go and get some sleep it is getting late.”
Muttering a rough goodnight to Jean, Logan outwardly complains how he does not need other to tell him how to deal with his love life. Inwardly though, Logan was grateful that Jean was supporting him and for her words. Of course, he will never openly admit that he will ever need love advice. Laying tiredly in his bed Logan drifts off to a fitful sleep. Disturbing dreams of Kagome being carried away from him by a large white dog and a red fox plagues his sleep.
Early the next morning before the break of dawn, Shippo meets with a rather rude awakening of cold water splashing on his face. Shooting up right immediately to see a grinning Kagome with a incriminating bucket in her hands. Shippo yells lividly, “Argh, Kagome! What the hell did you do that for? It is so early; the sun is not ever out yet!”
Smiling triumphantly at the drenched fox, Kagome says a bit too pleasantly. “Well if you had actually woken up the first ten times I tried waking you up then you would still be dry. Now get up we are going to train.”
Shippo gives out a groan of protest. Getting out of bed, he grumbles quietly, “I swear the Ice Cube has defiantly rubbed off on her. Of all the traits to pick up, she has to take up being a slave driver. Why couldn't she have picked up on being an arrogant and a murder instead?”
Watching Shippo groggily make his way to the washroom, Kagome shakes her head at Shippo's mumbling. “Shippo don't thing I didn't her that! Now you have ten minuets to get ready or else I will show you exactly how much fluffy has rubbed off on me.” Hearing Kagome say that Shippo pales visibly and franticly rushes though his morning rituals.
In fifteen minuets flat Kagome and Shippo arrives at the training room. For the warm-up, they both practice a few sets of katas. Each movement is synchronized together to perfection. To the eye, Kagome and Shippo look as if they are gracefully flowing though the movements much like the calm ripples of a steady stream. Occasionally Kagome will stop to correct Shippo's stance.
After an hour and a half of katas practice, going through simple to complex flow of movements, beads of sweat glitter upon their brows. Ending their routine, Kagome and Shippo stop to take a five-minuet water break. Whipping the sweat from her face with a towel, Kagome tosses Shippo a bottle of water. “Here take a sip and then we are going to move on to some basic hand to hand sparing. We will move on to weapons later. You should be glad you are training with me. If it were Fluffy training with you, there would already be a hole through your stomach. As punishment for all the mistakes you made while doing those katas.”
Uncapping the bottle, Shippo takes a gulp of the cool water, feeling the soothing liquid run down his throat. Recapping the bottle, Shippo tosses the bottle aside and retorts to Kagome's comments. “Awww come on Kagome, my form is not that bad. I was only a degree off, no need to be so up tight about it. If I can help it, I would never want to train with Mr. Ice Block that is just plain suicide.”
Kagome tosses her towel at Shippo's face, “Whatever Shippo, now lets start. Break Time is over.” Letting the towel slide off his face, Shippo pouts cutely and gets into a ready stance. “Feh, bring it on nee-san.” Kagome gives Shippo a wryly smile, “Gladly.”
Shippo rushes towards Kagome with a burst of speed. Expertly, Kagome evades the direct assault to avoid the hit. Kagome with her small and slender stature she uses mainly speed and agility to flexibly dodge Shippo's brute strength attacks. Ducking under the punch, Kagome aims for an open palm hit to Shippo's unguarded midsection. At the last moment, Shippo blocks and takes a leap backwards to put some distance between them. Standing off briefly, Shippo and Kagome stand across from each other. Staring intensely at each other, eyes take in every twitch of muscle and shifts in weight. Spontaneously Shippo and Kagome move to meet and collide with each other exchanging a series of kicks and punches. Their speed and ferocity of their attacks grows with every passing second.
The scene in which the group of X-men sees upon entering has their jaws dropping in awe. In the center of the training room on the mats is Kagome and Shippo sparring. Both figures attack at such intense speed creating only blurry after images. Shippo attacks Kagome with an array of punches and kicks while Kagome avoids almost ever hit and counters with a open hand attack of he own. With an exceptionally hard push from Kagome, Shippo ends up flying all the way across the room colliding with the concrete wall. Upon impact, the wall sports a dent and cracks running along it. Shippo gets up and wipes some blood off the corner of his lips smirking at Kagome. In return, Kagome shoots Shippo a smug look. Without speaking, Shippo rushes towards Kagome with his fist pull back. At the very last moment, the fox mutant opens up his fist to reveal a set of very long and sharp claws. Kagome's eyes widen a fraction and shifts quickly to evade the deadly appendage. It is now Shippo's turn to give Kagome a smug look of satisfaction for surprising her. With a back flip and a quick sprint, Kagome moves toward her katana resting on the edge of the training mats. Shippo moves to intersect Kagome, lashing out at her with open claws. Picking up her sheathed katana, she deflects Shippo's deadly strike. Shippo leaps to pick up his own katana. Inwardly Kagome smiles knowing the win for this sparing session are hers for the taking. Kagome is confident that she is more skill in the art of swordsmanship.
On the sidelines Remy, Rouge, Logan and Scott watch the deadly dance with jaws agape. At the sight of Shippo colliding with the concrete wall, everyone visibly cringe at the force of the impact. They are all surprise at the strength Kagome exhibits. Seeing Shippo attack Kagome with his claws barely missing a killing strike at Kagome, Rouge looks over at Remy whispering disbelievingly. “Is that what they call training? It looks more like they are trying to kill each other than a friendly spar.” Without tearing his eyes away from the pair, Remy dazedly answers. “I don't know sweet cakes, but Remy knows one thing for sure. Remy will never want to train with them. I do not want to die yet.” Rouge can only nod in agreement.
Unknown to the X-men there is another spectator to the spar, waiting for the session to end before making his presence known. Kagome and Shippo continue their vigorous sparring session, seemingly oblivious to their audience. Parrying blow for blow the intense dance ends with Kagome holding her blade to Shippo's throat. A choir of applause alerts their attention to their audience. Ignoring the sounds of applause, Kagome and Shippo turns to face Sesshoumaru. With his arms folded across his chest leaning casually against the wall, Sesshoumaru pushes off and walks towards the pair at the mats. Sesshoumaru sneers at the fox, “That was pathetic fox. Kagome be sure to teach the kit to fight properly and not like the half whelp. Also I need to have a private word with you.” With out a word of protest Kagome follows Sesshoumaru out of the training room. Right before leaving Sesshoumaru announces without looking back. “Your security here is too lax for me to come in with out being detected. You should look into that.”
Shippo glares at the retreating back of Sesshoumaru heatedly grumbling aloud. “Bastard, that half breed whelp happens to be able to kick your ass.” Turning around Shippo moves towards a disgruntled looking Logan.
With a scowl on his face, Logan snarls, “What the hell is up that bastards ass and who made him king?”
Shippo taking a gulp of water and sets it back down to answer Logan's comment. “That bastard is just a stuck up and cold like that. I swear he has a whole forest stuck up his ass sometimes. Kagome seems to be the only one now that can invoke any sort of response from him other than annoyance, anger or murderous intent.”
At that moment Logan's dislike for the fox mutant reduces greatly, now that they share a common detest towards a certain Ice Bastard. Shippo looks at Logan tilting his dead slightly to the side. “Come on Logan, how `bout some one on one,” flexing his claws dangerously, “my claws against yours.” Logan gives Shippo a smirk and amusedly says, “Sure kid lets just see how good you are with those claws. Just down cry to mommy when I end up giving you a new face.” Stalking over to the mats Logan extracts his claws, ready for combat.
Outside, Kagome and Sesshoumaru takes a seat in a empty conference room. Kagome sits across Sesshoumaru nervously, “Sesshoumaru, what do you have to tell me?” Sesshoumaru stiffly adjusts his position. “I have spoken with Kagura and Kana about what you saw in your vision. I have sent them to check up on who this `Apocalypse' person is. So far, the information we have gathered is not looking good for us. Kagura and Kana did some digging, it appears this man have a method of time travel. In the past, this man has had an encounter with Xavier and his men before. Apparently, he is aiming for not just world domination, but all of time and dimensions as well. There is a possibility that he have traveled as far back as to the Feudal era. We are not sure if he knows of the Shikon, though we hope not. On the side note, it have come to my attention by Kagura and Kana that before the final battle, Naraku spawned yet another extension of him self. Although nothing is heard of him, we cannot rule him out. This situation does not feel right at all Kagome. It is possible that our past will come back to haunt us.” Kagome slumps into her chair unconsciously moving her hand to touch the small scar in which the Shikon lies underneath. Kagome pales visibly as he eyes roll back and darkness takes her once again. Echoing in the back of her mind a set of sinister laughter echoes darkly
