Chapter 2

Let it Die

 

Kagome couldn't take it anymore. She just couldn't and before she knew what she was doing she just let it all pour out of her like wine.

"Inuyasha, I can't believe you!!" she screamed as her friends stared at her in disbelief. She continued to barrel on. She was spinning out of control, her emotions had gotten the best of her and it was too late to do anything except go with it.

"When are you going to get it through that thick skull of yours that I...that..." she couldn't finish, the anger left as suddenly as it had come. She had been going to say that she loved him and that realization brought her back to reality and made her stop to try another tactic.

"Inuyasha" she said her voice tremoring slightly she wasn't able to get it quite as steady as she would have liked to but she went on anyway "When are you going to let it die? This notion of yours, Inuyasha, I mean if we have learned anything from any of this, it's that matters concerning the Shikon jewel do not usually lead to hugs and puppies. And for that matter..."

"Me!! Let it die!!! What about you, Kagome?! It's my life! Damnit!" Inuyasha bore into the girl turning his back on her tear ridden face and shaking shoulders. Kagome watched and waited in horror for the hanyou to go on, but he just stood there his breath ragged and heaving from anger. Kagome continued to stare at his back and Inuyasha could feel her eyes, so he dared not turn around to face the pain he'd inflicted. He felt ashamed, but that didn't matter. The jewel. The jewel was all that mattered with it he would become a full demon and the past would be just that the past. It wouldn't matter anymore. He would be able to start over. He would no longer be alienated by his kind. He would finally belong.

"I don't expect you to get it, anyways..." said Inuyasha finally as he walked away.
