Chapter One
"True Joy has never walked up to me,
Only stood and watched as I waited…as I wait"
-Historical Introduction- (mini-prologue)
The Four Great Cities, Tysetsu, Zefiro, Azarath and Inchonia have co-existed for centuries harmoniously, protected by the Jewel of Four Souls. The legendary jewel that was created when the first four King's ashes, blood and souls were used to create the Jewel that would watch over their homes. Its legend is matched only by the reputation of She who protects it. The Divine Curator. The first Curator that ever was, was named Midoriko and she was the one that brought the Jewel into being. Only those who are descendants of Midoriko could ever become the next in the line to take the title Divine Curator.
The Divine Curator's purpose was to guard the jewel that kept the world peaceful and was to devote her entire life to this purpose. She would have to bear a daughter who would one day take her place.
But, a person of such holy power and a jewel of such magic could only attract attention. Sometimes from those whose hands much never touch the Jewel- or the Curator. From the day that the Jewel enter the world, evil was drawn to it, wanting it.
The God of Chaos Evil- Naraku, born from the hatred and evil in the hearts of all, he was and is the greatest threat. If his blackened hands were to ever touch the Jewel, the entire world would fall into discord and mayhem. However, it wasn't just his desire for the Jewel that made him dangerous-it was also his lust for the one that carried it.
It has been 400 hundred years since Midoriko passed on her title, and evil is restless for the power of the Jewel…thus begins our story.

Foaming a soapy white, the lazy waves lapped playfully at the rocks lining the coast like steady guards. "Loosen up a little," the waters seemed to beckon.
Failing to move the stone giants, the waves moved back out toward the sea, on its way rolling under a lone ship. It's smooth, streamline build rocked gently, its deep brownish red wooden sides shining from the waters attention. Along the side were words written in shining bold silver The Felon. High above the ship, the sails had been drawn, lying against the masts, not catching any wind. The front of the boat jutted out, the figure of a silver dog holding up the plank-like bowsprit. Specks of water jumped merrily upward, toward the bowsprit and the figure lying atop of it.
Staring at the sky above him was a figure clad in a black short sleeve shirt with a black leather vest thrown on over it. His red pants billowed slightly in the breeze, his long silver hair hanging over the side of his perch. Inuyasha bent his neck one way, then the other trying to relieve the crick. Being the most feared pirate in the Seven Seas could do that to you.
Well…time to go to work.
"Wake up you lazy excuse for a crew!" he bellowed.
Jumping up, he walked lightly toward the deck, -stopping once to wipe the dirt from the railing. He had four loves in his life. Stealing, money, jewels and his ship.
A heavy door swung open and his crew staggered out dressed in pirate attire, rubbing their eyes. Miroku, Sango, Kohaku, Nagato, blah, blah, blah, blah. Yup, they were all here.
Blinking her green eyes, Sango ran her hands through her long black hair. "Can't a lady get some shut eye?"
The man standing next to her winked his own brown eyes, before quickly tying his short hair back. Scanning his eyes down her body Miroku said, "Ah, Sango. You of all people have no need for beauty sleep."
Rolling her eyes Sango dusted off her red cat-suit (like the one she wears in the show) before tying a cloth at her hip, covering her bottom from Miroku's wandering eyes.
Why had he been cursed with such a damned crew?
"Well, let's go. We have ships to raid, goods to steal." Sango exclaimed.
Now it was Inuyasha's turn to roll his eyes. "We're the most notorious pirates in the world. Routine stealing isn't going keep us that title."
The crew exchanged glances. Whenever Inuyasha had an ache to reinforce his title, it was always big. Very big. Before it had been to kidnap the King of the Island nation Togona, demanding not money, but the islands, and that was one of the more boring things they'd done. Now what…?
Nagato; a dark man a head and a half taller than Inuyasha with shoulders broad enough to sit on, stepped forward. The sword at his side gleamed, eager to work.
"What are you suggesting, captain?"
Smirking, Inuyasha opened his mouth. "No idea."
Sango plopped onto the deck. "I hate it when you do that. Get us all worked up for nothing."
Wrinkling his nose, Inuyasha shot back, "Shut it. I just haven't really thought about it…"
"Inuyasha…"
Almost like a whisper in his triangular ears, he heard his name. Amber eyes sharp as tacks, he whipped around ready to chop off the head of the…whatever. Flexing his claws, he reached down for his trusty Tetsusaiga.
The crew jumped, surprised by Inuyasha's sudden change.
"What is it?" Young Kohaku whispered.
"Come and meet me, Inuyasha…" The winds stirred around his feet almost pushing him.
Walking over a pile of ropes, he walked toward the railing, peering over to see if anything was there. The water's playfulness had drained away, leaving an appearance of gray and sullen puddle that was all too quiet.
"Come where?"
"Down here."
The surface of the water burst and the ship rocked heavily. Thrown back, the crew fell over. Unfazed, Inuyasha watched as a tentacle, much longer than his ship slithered out of the water, writhing like a snake. Pulling out Tetsusaiga, Inuyasha posed the fang like weapon in front of him.
"Come and met me."
The tentacle suddenly began to sink again, and Inuyasha blew the hair out of his eyes in annoyance. Turning on his heels he watched his crew stand up.
"Guess we scared it off."
No sooner had the words left his mouth when the tentacle swung over the railing, and in a whip effect, wrapped around Inuyasha, dragging him overboard.
"Inuyasha!" Everyone rushed to the side, watching in shock as their captain and the monster disappeared under the water.
The water closed over his head as he was dragged deeper into the ocean. Raking his claws against the skin of the tentacle wrapped tightly around him, Inuyasha attempts to break free were ignored, even as the monsters blood clotted the water around him. Bubbles escaped his mouth in a frenzy and his chest clenched painfully for air. It felt like his was about to rip in two and the death hold on him wasn't letting up. So much for going out with a bang.
Inuyasha's hair floated around him, a silver veil and everything seemed so calm, other than the fact that he was being pulled into the darkest, deepest parts of the ocean. Light from above strained to reach him, filtering through his hair creating rays of silver stringing through strands that flashed silently. He's imagined death plenty of times, but never this…peacefully.
Suddenly the tentacle retreated and there was a floor of some sort under his feet. As if someone had pulled a plug, the water swirled and the level rapidly lowered until it had all but disappeared, leaving a coughing, gasping and drenched Inuyasha. Shaking himself like a dog, Inuyasha sucked in as much salty air as he could. Well, this was just peachy.
Standing up, Inuyasha looked around him. Where the hell was he? He was still underwater in…bubble. He's lifeboat was a huge air bubble.
"Ah…so glad that you could join me alive."
Squinting his eyes, Inuyasha looked around, although it was so dark he couldn't see much. A faint outline of a very, very, very large person appeared followed by a clear view of a man. Or…god to be more exact. His sharp eyes sneered out of a pale face and his long black hair floated gently in the water.
Wringing water from his hair, Inuyasha spat. "So…who the fuck are you?"
Grinning to reveal small, sharp teeth, the god spoke in a hiss like voice. "As blunt and rude as always, Inuyasha. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Naraku, the god of Evil."
Inuyasha didn't even blink. "God of Evil, huh? And just what do you want?"
To Inuyasha's slight surprise, Naraku's enormous form faded and reappeared before him, downsized to a normal man's height. "What do I want with you? Well, Inuyasha. I've been watching you for some time now as created fear and anger. You are truly an evil, cold thief."
Putting his hand over his chest, Inuyasha put up a show of mock hurt. "Oh, that hurts me to my heart."
The darkness around Naraku leapt as his eyes narrowed and a laugh that sent shivers down even Inuyasha's spine pressed from his lips. Then, he spoke, to another. "My dear sister, did you hear that?"
A female voice, cold as ice and sharp as it, too replied from behind Inuyasha. It seemed to appear out of nowhere. "Yes, indeed. Hurt to your heart? Come, Inuyasha- you have no heart. That's why we like you."
Stepping out of a curtain of fog, a woman appeared. Her skin was as pale as Naraku's and her blue eyes shot daggers into Inuyasha's skin. Black hair, straighter than straight fell down her back ending at her slim waist. With her dress clinging to her curves and her flat, yet, somehow sinister expression, she was more terrifying than her counter part.
"Inuyasha, meet the Goddess of Chaos, my sister, Kikyo."
Moving like a snake, Kikyo slinked over to Inuyasha. "So, this is the infamous Inuyasha."
Watching her every move, Inuyasha said in a measured voice, "One and only."
Both god and goddess moved to stand before him. This was maybe the most interesting thing that had ever happened to Inuyasha. He was stuck miles under water, in a bubble with the God of Evil and Goddess of Chaos, having a conversation about his lack of heart.
A mist hovered above Naraku and Kikyo's feet, tendrils of shadows curling around all three. Clearing his throat, Inuyasha repeated his earlier question. "What do you want?" Not frightened, not anger. Just impatient.
Naraku spoke. "Being the most successful and skilled pirate and thief out there, I suppose that about the Jewel of Four Souls."
"The Jewel of Four Souls, the jewel that protects the four cities."
A tiny smirk touched Kikyo's lips. "He knows his jewels."
"We also know that you are in the mood to…boost your reputation. Not that you need to, but your lack of…action has shall we say, made you itchy?"
Before Inuyasha could get a word in, Kikyo said, "We propose that you steal the Jewel for us.
Snorting, Inuyasha said in disbelief, "I don't work for anyone. Even if you two are gods."
Kikyo disappeared in her fog and appeared before Inuyasha a second later. Saves time…"Oh, but you wouldn't be wasting your time. You would be stealing the Jewel that protects the four cities, bringing them into total chaos, and making your name more feared then ever before. Jus imagine the utter and glorious chaos!" Stopping here she trailed her thin fingers down Inuyasha chest and whispered in a silky voice, "It wouldn't hurt to have friends like us."
His big "thing," make friends with two gods, steal the most powerful Jewel in the whole universe, have the Four Great Cities bowing and begging him for mercy…so far there didn't seem to be any down falls. "Alright. Where is this Jewel?"
Grinning triumphantly, Naraku waved his hands and a map appeared. Pointing to a moving dot he said, "On that ship, heading for Zefiro."
Inuyasha pressed his lips together. Zefiro…he really didn't want to go there again…
Naraku left him no time to change his mind, disappearing out of the bubble. Kikyo tapped his nose. "Oh yes. Bring me the Divine Curator. Alive."
"Can't I just kill her? She's protecting the Jewel than I'll probably end up killing her anyways."
A sudden look of anger crossed Kikyo's face. "No! Bring her to me alive!"
Stepped on a sensitive spot had he?
Kikyo's face quickly returned to it's cool composure and she turned. Looking over he shoulder she said, "By the way, this is our little secret. Don't tell Naraku."
She disappeared, but her voice whispered, "Now…where were we? O yes, you were about to hold your breath."
The bubble that Inuyasha had been in promptly disappeared and engulfed by water, Inuyasha kicked toward the surface. Just when he thought that his lungs were going to rip in half, he was at the surface gasping like a cow.
"Inuyasha!"
Hanging over the side of the ship, his crew was staring down at him in relief. Miroku through over a rope, dragging up a soaking wet Inuyasha. Nagao crossed his arms expectantly at another crew member. Rolling his eyes, the young man placed a gold coin in Nagato's large hand.
"Told you he'd live."
Grabbing Inuyasha under by the upper arms, Miroku and Sango dragged Inuyasha onto the deck.
"What happened down there?" Sango demanded.
Miroku nodded, "Yes, what was that all about and how did you stay underwater for so long? Don't tell me you held your breath."
Inuyasha shrugged them off and shook himself again. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you."
Glancing at each other Sango and Miroku made faces. Nagato came up behind them and said, "Inuyasha, we've known you to do so much that we wouldn't put anything past you."
Taking a deep breath, Inuyasha started, "Fine. I got dragged down a couple of miles, trapped in a bubble with Naraku, the God of Evil and Kikyo, the Goddess of Chaos and they want me to steal the Jewel of Four Souls so that we can be buddies." And Kikyo wanted him to bring her the Divine Curator, but that was their little secret.
The crew stared at him for a moment, then they all shrugged as one. "Okay, so are we doing it?"
They actually believed him? Well, it saved him the hassle.
Few hours later…On their way to catch the ship where the Jewel is…
Night had fallen and the moon glowed above the ocean setting up a melancholy scene. There were no stars out tonight.
Inuyasha held the steering wheel lightly, The Felon whipping easily through the waters. She was built for speed. Nagato came to stand by his captain.
After a moment of forced silence, Nagato asked, "Are you really planning to steal the Jewel of Four Souls?"
"Yup."
"You are aware that doing that would destroy the Four Cities?"
"Yup."
"That innocent people would die…"
"Yup." Where was he going with this?
"Inuyasha, do you also realize that we're pirates not blood-thirsty murderers?" There was a touch of anger in his voice, now.
"Nope."
Sighing in rejection, Nagato said, `Inuyasha, I'd follow to the ends of the earth but this…this is unheard of. The Jewel of Four Souls is the base, the shoulders and shield of life for all those people. If we took that away, all would die. The world would fall into chaos. As uncaring as you let on to be, I've known you long enough to know that you wouldn't do that."
Fall into chaos…
Kikyo's words rang in his ears…
Imagine the utter and glorious chaos!
What did it matter to him if they all died? He didn't have anything to do with them. Not anymore…
Nagato spoke once more. "What about the Divine Curator?"
Scoffing, Inuyasha asked, "What about her?"
Looking at Inuyasha in disbelief, Nagato said in exasperation, "The Curator protects the jewel with her life. She is the only one in the world whose reputation can match that of the Jewel's. Her position is respected by the kings and queens of the Cites. Her entire being has been given over the being the Jewel's guardian."
Inuyasha just stared, completely missing the point.
Tightening his large hand, Nagato exclaimed, "How do you expect to get past her! She isn't going to be a pushover, Inuyasha! Even you have to know that!"
Of course he knew. So what? That wouldn't stop him from killing her. He wasn't one of those power hungry fools. He just wanted the damned jewel to maintain his position as the world's most notorious pirate. If had to kill people along the way, he really didn't give a damn. They would have died anyways.
Shaking his head, Nagato walked away,
This wasn't about Kikyo or Naraku so much anymore. Then, what was it about? He really didn't know why he was doing this. Fun?...Yeah it was about fun. Inuyasha shook his head. No…maybe it was for revenge.

Unaware that they were being followed, The Firefly sailed slowly toward the city Zefiro. Onboard, a girl hardly a woman sat, calmed by the sea that she longed for so much.
I know…I don't deserve it, but please, pretty please review?
