Beginning
“I am the free wind,” Kagura had whispered as the last of this life had drained from her. Is that a tear in his eye? No, no, of course not, The Lord of the West does not cry.As the maelstrom kicked up to carry her soul away , she wondered, why had he really come? To triumph over the death of yet another of Naraku’s incarnations? Yet, she did not feel like an incarnation, she never had. “These thoughts are useless,” she chided herself, you are dead, and you are free, ‘And I am alone.’ She finished aloud, with only the wind to hear her.
She was surprised when she felt the feather between her fingers, her fingers that should not be. She floated above the scene of Naraku’s betrayal, gazing at the man who stood with his head inclined over her lifeless body. “If that is my body though, than how is it I still have fingers?” She shook the questions away, it had been so long since one of her questions had received an answer it was becoming pointless to ask them. Then a glint of metal at his side drew her gaze.
He had raised his sword, the one that was useless for a Yokai prince, a sword that did not kill nor conquer. Her eyes widened in surprise. “Now why would he do that for me, unless….” She gasped as she saw him swing his arm to revive her. She felt a pull that she could not answer.
He stood there another moment, his head bowed, his shoulders seemed to shake. Her body still lay there, lifeless and so, so dead. She could read his thoughts almost. Tenseiga had betrayed him.. ‘No,” she whispered to the wind, “Tenseiga just can’t raise a body that has no soul.” She thought she understood now, and she gave one last glance to her demon prince standing over the shell that had imprisoned her before she threw herself to the wind. The feather she had held drifted down . She did not see the him pluck it from the air.
She was off to visit the frozen Huntress. She had a lot of explaining to do. This time Kagura would have her answers.
