Author's Note: For those of you who tried to read this in the first few hours I posted it, sorry I had computer issues. This is a kinda short chapter and I'm warning everyone right now: my english and spelling sucks. I speak French so this is me testing my English skills ( not very good). Oh well hope you enjoy! "Would you relax? Your acting like I THREW myself at him!", Kagome yelled at a certain ignorant hanyou.

"Well you could stop encouraging the guy like that!", Inuyasha yelled back with equal outrage.

"I wasn't encouraging him I was just...I was just...well if your too much of an idiot to figure it out I'm not going to tell you!", She huffed and walked away leaving Inuyasha staring at her confused.

She was just what? He had seen everything that had happend that afternoon just fine. They had been trying to recover another fragment of the Shikon no Tama when that whimp Kouga had showed up trying to do the same thing and get close to Kagome at the same time. Worst of all was Kagome's behavior after the fight. She had been so NICE to that jerk. She was always nice to him, even though she said she had no feelings for him. But why eles would she act like that?

Inuyasha sighed at the thoughts he was having,"It's not like I'm jelouse of that bastard. Am I?"

" Inuyasha what did you do now?", Said Miroku jolting him out of his thoughts.

"What are you talking about?", He growled back,"I didn't do anything. She's the one flirting with that bastard Kouga!"

"Did it ever occur to you WHY she acted like she did?"

"Because she likes the moron."

Miroku sighed at his friends ignorance. If he would just grow up there wouldn't be half as many fights to mediate.

"You are an idiot. She was just being nice so she would leave sooner!"

"What?"

"She was doing it for YOU! But now you went and yelled at her for it! If I was you I would go and talk to her."

"And if I don't?"

"If you don't you'll just have to go back and listen to Sango and Shippou yell at you for it."

Well that left only one choice. After a few hours of avoiding the task, Inuyasha finally found Kagome sitting under the very tree that she had freed him from a few years ago. She had brought that strange looking lantern from her time for light. She was looking off into the distance at the rest of the forest, completely lost in thought. Her hair was reflecting the light from the lantern giving her whole self a supernateral kind of glow. She looked so calm.

Inuyasha froze. That sent. Damn, of all the times. In the matter of hours since he had last seen her she had gone into heat. He could already feel his body reacting to her smell. He had to get out of there right now before she noticed him, even if it meant her being made at him for another day.

"Inuyasha?"

Too Late. He stood still for moment to collect him self before he lost it.

"Inuyasha?", she repeated waiting for a response.

He slowly walked over to her, ready to make this as quick as possible.

"Imsorryforyellingatya.". He blurted out all at once and turned to quickly walk away.

"Hey, wait!",she said grabbing his hand,"What did you say?"

"I'm sorry for yelling at you about Kouga."He said slower.

As much as he hated to admit it just the touch of her hand on his was calming him down, making all thoughts of leaving quickly dissapear.

"You are, really?", she said looking at him with those big brown eyes.

"Yeah, but what were you going to say before when you left?"

"Oh,um. I was just...um...going to say that I...um...did that for you." She muttered.

"Thats what Miroku said"

"He did? He told you?"

"Yeah, but why do you care?", Said Inuyasha sitting down and ignoring the voice of reason in him that said to leave it at that.

"Well of course I care. You get so annoyed and unhappy when he's around. I was just trying to make it easier for you.", she explained.

"I'm not jelouse of him!", Inuyasha yelled, surprising even himself.

"I didn't say you were.", Said Kagome, looking a little stunned at the hanyou's outburst.

"Well I'm not."

"Inuyasha.", She said calmingly, pulling him down to sit by her.

Inuyasha immeditaly tensed at her touch.

"Walk away! Get up now!",the voice of reason in Inuyasha's head was screaming at him.

"Why?",said another more convincing voice," This is what you want."

Was it? Was Kagome what he wanted? How could she be? He loved Kikyou.

"Loved.", said that voice again,"You loved her. But do you any more? If you take away the duty you feel to her is love still left? You know she is different then when she was alive. You felt it when she kissed you. It was cold and unreal. A shadow. Just like this Kikyou."

Inuyasha felt an arm wind around his and turned to see Kagome's smiling face. The voice was right. Somewhere along the line Kikyou had turned into a duty not a lover. He had known that deep inside since she kissed him that night. But his sense of obligation to her had tricked his mind into believing there was still love there.

But Kagome...there was no feeling of obligation there. Just love and want. He genuinly loved her. Things were clear. He wasn't going to lose this second chance she had given him because of something stupid like jelousey or fear. He had to act now.

"Kagome."

He leaned down and caught her mouth with his.

Kagome froze in her seat completely taken by surprise. What was going on here? She had always wanted this to happen, but why was it happening now? Why was he doing this? Kagome paniced as a thought gripped her.

"Is he just doing this because I look like Kikyou?"

A tear flowed from her eye and she pushed away. She had to know what his motives were.

"Why did you kiss me?", She said while holding back tears.

"Oh no",Inuyasha thought to himself,"She doesn't feel the same way about me. She's probably mad at me now."

Kagome took his moment of silence as confirmation of what she had been dreading.

"It's because I look like Kikyou isn't it? Thats the only reason. Well I don't wanna be some substition for the person you really care about while she's away!", Kagome sobbed dispite herself.

"What?!",Said Inuyasha,"Do you really think that thats it? Thats why I kissed you? Because you look like Kikyou?"

"Well thats it isn't it? What other reason is there?"

"Kagome, I...um..I..."

"So much for not letting fear stand in the way!",Inuyasha thought bitterly to himself.

Inuyasha stood up and started to walk away. He just couldn't do this now. Kagome looked up to see him start to leave. Damn! She had been so sure there was something he was going to say. How could they live it in the air like this?

"Inuyasha, SIT!"

Boom! Inuyasha was down on the ground in a half second. Before the magic could wear off Kagome ran up and straddled him, making escape impossible.

"You just wait a sec! Look we have been having this conversation on and off for almost a year. Now after what you just did we are going to sit here and finish it! What ever you have to say to me just say it now. I don't need this to be drawn out even more, especialy if what your going to say is going to hurt me."

Inuyasha gentaly pushed Kagome off him, ignoring the urge to take her right then and there.

"Kagome I love you. I know I should have told you this long before now. Your not just a replacement for Kikyou. Your you, Kagome. A completely different person. I know that now and I love you for it."

He quickly kissed her again before she could respond. He was afraid to hear how she would react. If she didn't feel the same way about him at least he had got to kiss her.

Who knew what she would say when he broke off this kiss?
