One Hell of a Night

After what seemed like twenty hours searching for a spot, the car was finally parked and Kagome was going through her fifth mental breakdown that night. 'I'm way too young to die' she thought, repeating the phrase or variations of it in her head over and over. Kagome was seventeen and a junior in high school. She received fairly good marks by her standards, and excellent marks by everyone else's. Math was probably her hardest subject. Although she still took honors, she had to work much harder in that class than others. Most of her subjects just came naturally to her. She was what was to be referred to as a brain, bookworm, and often a goody two-shoes. If it weren't for her popular friends and her obvious good taste in fashion, she might be more of an outcast. She kept to herself, despite her friend's encouragement to open up, and was commonly thought to be shy, meek, or unspoken. But that was at school; that was an image that she subconsciously maintained in the presence of others. Underneath she was a rebel. She loved to argue and loved to be right. She was loud, obnoxious, and rather high on life. She loved heights and speed. But few saw this side of her that she kept so protected. She wasn't sheltered like people believed. She was just inexperienced. She liked to pretend, although she would never admit to anyone this single embarrassing fact, that she was one of the heroines in her novels. But she knew her books were fantasy and had no doubts that real life would pale in comparison to the passionate stories of love. In public she would forever be the quiet, aloof, shy Kagome everyone knew but never noticed; in private, she had herself and her dreams. Hopefully that would be enough.

Kagome stepped out of the car and shut the door. She was wearing the clothes her friends had grabbed and forced her to change into in the car, a tight black tank top, skintight jeans, and her old tennis shoes. She had her hair up in a ponytail, her bangs framing her face, and wore her watch. She had little else on, including makeup, which she rarely wore anyway. Plus, her friends constantly told her that she was a natural beauty, which was good enough for her, whether or not it was true. She had her money and her chap stick in her pockets, her purse hidden in the car as instructed by her all-knowing friends.

Kagome was still nervous, fidgeting nonstop with her hands as they waited in the long line to get in. 'How do I get myself into these messes? Does someone up there hate me?' she asked herself as the line got smaller and the entrance loomed nearer. Kagome glanced around for something to distract her. Her friends were of no help, chatting about the guys they had already spotted. Kagome never had enjoyed those conversations. It wasn't that she didn't like looking at and admiring hot guys, she just refused to ogle and gossip like every other girl. She found it rather silly and counterproductive. Sure guys must like the attention, but did they really like every single girl around sizing them up and then whispering nothings to a group of giggling bimbos like it was some show or game. Not that she meant to call her friends giggling bimbos, but she still didn't approve of the activity.

Kagome decided to examine the building they were about to enter. It was tall, brick, and very old looking compared to the new buildings surrounding it. The girl in front of Kagome entered the building and she realized it was her turn to be frisked by the security guard. After the rather embarrassing but thankfully quick procedure, Kagome stepped through the doors. It structure might have looked run down on the outside, but the inside was like a palace. It was old décor, but still extremely decorative and lavish. Her first thought was how this place was the setting for a heavy rock concert. The place looked fit for plays by Shakespeare rather than performances from rock bands.

While Kagome critiqued the main hall, her friends quickly located the merchandise stand and rushed over to it, leaving Kagome to stand alone by the entrance. She wandered to the far side of the hall and studied the walls, anything to take her mind off the upcoming dilemma. She bent over a water fountain and drank as much as she could without touching her mouth to the fountain itself. Out of the corner of her eye she saw her friends walking over to her. Each was wearing different shirts sporting what had to be the band members. Yuka was holding an extra shirt that Kagome knew must have been hers.

"There you are" Yuka stated loudly. "Here, I got you a shirt," she said as she handed Kagome the extra shirt. "You owe me twenty bucks."

"Yeah, Yeah," Kagome muttered as she examined the shirt. It was white and had "Shikon No Tama" and some symbol across the front and an extremely attractive guy on the back. She pulled the shirt over her head, her black tank top noticeable through the thin material. "What does this mean?" she asked as she pointed to the symbol.

"Oh that. That's the bands logo," said Yuka casually.

"It is not Yuka, its the lead singer's personal logo," Sasuka said confidently.

"The lead doesn't have his own logo, Sasuka."

"Oh yes he does, Yuka."

"Girls, this is a pointless and annoying argument," Rei interrupted, halting yet another argument between the two. "It is a band logo associated with that particular band, end of story." Rei again shot a glare at the two girls.

Yuka flipped her hair over her shoulder to show her annoyance. "I suppose."

Sasuka crossed her arms across her chest and also put on an annoyed face. "Sure. Besides, the point is that the lead singer is the hottest guy in the world."

Yuka's face instantly brightened, all grudges forgotten. "I know. God he is so dreamy."

"I know, I know. And those pictures you have of him…"

"Now your talking, I just love those. And him in that shirt…"

"I know. Personally, I could have died when I saw that…"

Rei grunted. "That's nothing. Kagome and I are going to die right now. If you two don't shut up that is. God you girls are exasperating," Rei flung her hands in the air and Kagome just stared at them both before sighing. 'Same old cheery, odd, annoying but perfect friends.'

Yuka stared at Rei and Kagome. "Oh come on, don't tell me you don't think he is hot."

"Okay, yes... he is quite gorgeous," admitted Rei with a slight blush.

"And very mysterious. They say he pulls a different stunt of some sort for his personal entrance for each concert. And he has this hot motorcycle and of course his long silver hair," sighed Sasuka.

"Silver hair?" Kagome asked, confused.

"Yeah, and it is natural too," confirmed Rei with stars in her eyes.

"He is so dashing," said Yuka as all three girls sighed and stared off into space.

Kagome stared at all three girls, her mouth hanging open. "Oh for the love of… Do you three think of NOTHING else? There are more important things in life than guys," Kagome screamed as she crossed her arms in front of her.

With the looks that they gave her, she might have well been speaking Gibberish. "Are you nuts," started Sasuka, "What is more important than guys… your books." Sasuka planted herself in front of Kagome, her hands on her hips and her eyes and actions screaming that she was ready for battle.

Knowing that if started, the argument could take hours, Kagome decided to end it before it could start. "I don't want to discuss this now. Can we just go in?" She turned towards entrance from the hall to the auditorium, avoiding Sasuka's challenge.

"Yeah, we should anyway. It will start soon," said Rei, also looking towards the open double doors.

"Joy," mumbled Kagome under her breath as all three walked over to the entrance. This was going to be one hell of a night.

A/N: Okay so that is done. I'll get the next one up very soon. It is written, just not typed. Sometimes I get things out better when I have a pencil and paper. You know what I mean? Anyhoo, review please. See ya.
