InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Girl and the Band ❯ Unwanted Introduction ( Chapter 3 )
A/N: Okay, here we go with another exciting chapter.
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha.
Unwanted Introduction
The four girls wandered past the crowds of people, heading for the doors to the auditorium. This door also had a security guard, who was taking the tickets. Sasuka dug into her pocket, bringing out four long tickets, the heading "General Admission" bold on the top ticket, making Kagome gulp as she saw it. Sasuka handed the four tickets to the guard, who looked over them thoroughly. After checking them for entirely too long, he gave a curt nod with his head and ripped the end of each ticket off and handed the larger portions back to Sasuka, letting the four girls pass and using his finger to count to four as they passed by to make sure that no more than that were allowed in.
As Kagome stepped through the archway and onto the read carpet, her eyes swept the room. It was fairly small, in a gigantic sort of way, and just as lavishly decorated as the forte. The stage was directly in front of her about ten yards or so, down some stairs and across a large black rubberish floor she figured was for the moshing. To her left and right, the red carpeted floor wound down along the wall, including a few chairs as it went down, till it met with the black floor near the stage. There were lots of people already crowded around the stage, sitting on the floor and talking in groups.
Kagome subconsciously followed her friends as they went down the stairs and made their way across the room, examining every detail as more of the area came into view. They sat down on the closest possible spot to the front and as Kagome looked up, a scowl came to her face. Above the door they had just entered was a large balcony full of seats. Kagome turned to friends. "You can too sit at a Shikon No Tama concert," she said lowly with a glare as she motioned towards the balcony. All three girls looked, nonplused, as if that little fact held no surprise. "Only if you are a loser," said Sasuka mater-of-factly before the three went back to talking. Obviously they weren't surprised. Kagome looked back up. It was true that most of those up there were older, parent type people. And the few that were Kagome's age were leaned over the balcony edge watching the crowd below with a subtle longing look on their faces. Still, Kagome wished she were up there in a seat instead or risking her precious life, loser or not.
"Don't worry Kagome, it will be alright," said Rei as she noticed Kagome's nervous face.
"Yeah, it will be lots of fun," added Yuka.
"And besides, we will be here for you," said Sasuka with a bright smile.
"Thanks," said Kagome sincerely, "But what if I lose you?"
"Then we will either try to find you or if you get really nervous, just leave the crowd and head for the stairs and we'll come get you," explained Rei.
"You sure," said Kagome.
"What do you mean 'are we sure', of course we are. What are friends for," said Sasuka as she started to laugh.
They all started to laugh and Yuka began to squeal, "Oooo…remember, 'group hug'," she yelled attracting attention as all four hugged each other before breaking up to laugh even harder at the memory of their old childhood habits.
Kagome looked around again. "Thanks guys, you're the best."
"No problem," they all said at the same time before all screaming, "jinx" at each other, the reaction sending the three into more fits of giggles and laughter.
Kagome chuckled at that as much of her nervousness slipped away. She was truly happy that she had her friends, even if they were loud boy-crazed lunatics at times. She still loved each of them to death.
"This place is so elegant," exclaimed Sasuka when she had recovered from her laughter, her eyes scanning the room.
"Yeah, who'd thought that a rock concert would be held in a place like this," added Rei as her gaze followed Sasuka's.
"Do you guy's know who is opening for Shikon No Tama?" asked Yuka as the thought occurred to her.
"Not sure," answered Sasuka as she finished examining the room. She turned her gaze back to Yuka, "But I do know that there are two opening bands."
"Two?" asked Yuka, her head cocked in confusion.
"Yeah, Shikon No Tama was apparently friends with the bands so they brought them along for their tour. Remember? I told you this the other day when I called to tell you about the tickets. I told you that the band started in some basement but became popular fast and now have a huge mansion that they live and practice in, which happens to be located in this very city. Is any of this ringing a bell?"
Yuka just stared at Sasuka for a minute, a blank expression on her face. "Oh yeah," she said as it dawned on her, "and we were talking about that hot guy with the hair and those sunglasses in that…place and…stuff."
"Gee Yuka," said Rei sarcastically, "That was really descriptive. Do tell how it is that you manage to remember such trying details, it is quite impressive," ended Rei with a smirk.
"Shut up," grumbled Yuka as Sasuka and Rei started to laugh.
Kagome half listened to the conversation as she studied the others around her. It was then that she noticed a guy giving her a funny look. She stared back as if daring him to keep staring at her, and then threw him a glare for good measure. Whether undaunted or unaware of the threat, he continued to stare until his face broke out into a wide grin. He got up and made his way threw the people, heading straight for Kagome. 'Oh great, he took my glare as an invitation. Just how dense is this guy,' She thought to herself as he came closer.
"Hi, I'm, Hojo. And you are…?"
Kagome's friends spun around and stood up, pulling Kagome with them, while gawking at the boy who had just introduced himself to their shy friend. He wasn't bad looking Kagome had to admit. He was actually rather cute. But that wasn't what bothered her. It was that he looked so, well…so average and boring. He wasn't the hero in her book. Kagome sighed softly while her friends remembered that they had vocal cords, and a mission. 'I repeat, typical teenagers.'
"Hi, I'm Sasuka and that is Yuka and Rei," Sasuka said quickly, motioning to each girl as she introduced them. "And this is our single, available, and very eligible friend Kagome," she announced, her voice dripping with excitement.
"Kagome," Hojo pronounced, proud of his achievement. "Nice name." Kagome blushed as he flashed her a white smile. "This your first rock concert?"
"Yeah," muttered Kagome, already loathing the guy, as she noticed her that friends were loving the interaction between the two.
"I could tell, you look kinda nervous." He smiled again, "If you want, I could hold you, you know, for support," he said with such complete innocence that Kagome truly believed he had no idea what he had just suggested as her mouth dropped open and her friends started to giggle behind her. She couldn't believe how forward he was being, even if he didn't realize he was. 'I mean really, who does this guy think he is? Who dose he think I am, as if I would rea….' Her thoughts were cut off as Sasuka nudged Kagome and muttered at her to answer him. Kagome knew her friends would love nothing more than to have her accept his offer. And she might have, for her friend's sake, if he hadn't insinuated that she needed support to survive some stupid concert. Never mind she had been worrying about it all day, but he had made the mistake of igniting her temper. If there was one thing she hated, it was someone calling her weak.
And that was the exact reason that she crossed her arms over her chest and put on her best "I am better than you" face. "Hmph. No thank you, I can manage on my own."
Hojo's face fell for a moment but then he smiled again. "Okay then. But if you change your mind I will be right over there," he said as he pointed to a spot closer to the stage then their current location and then walked off. Kagome felt pretty proud of herself for showing that guy who's who. However, as she turned back to her friends, she also felt pretty confident of what their reaction would be. They were all looking at her with identical expressions of utter disbelief. Oh yeah, definitely what she had been expecting.
Kagome waited patiently for what was to come. Her friends were abnormally quiet considering the situation. Then again, Kagome recalled some phrase she had once heard that went something like "the silence before the storm."
"Are you NUTS?" yelled Sasuka at the top of her lugs.
Kagome stared wide-eyed at her before a thought that occurred to her tugged her lips into a slight smile. 'Yep, no truer phrase was ever created.'
While Kagome continued to amuse herself in her mind, Sasuka took on such an expression that Rei and Yuka concluded that she did not trust herself to speak, her last outburst had attracted lots of attention. Yuka didn't know what to say. It had never occurred to her that one would refuse advances from a gorgeous guy who was obviously attracted. She was dumbstruck, and her face portrayed her emotions without fault. So Rei decided that she would calm the situation, her nerves not as rattled.
"Kagome?" said Rei to bring the girl back to the conversation. Kagome looked at Rei with a happy expression. It had felt good to reject that guy and she was still amused at her own sense of humor. "Yeah."
Rei cleared her throat, "Well, I think I speak for everyone when I tell you that you are out of your mind. I mean the guy was gorgeous and nice and tall and obviously liked you, and wanted to 'support' you and everything that goes with that and…" Rei trailed off, also finding herself at a loss for words.
Kagome looked at her friend's expressions and just couldn't help it. She tried, oh she tried, but with the guy, then her musings, and her friend's outbursts, and to top it off the looks on their faces…it was just too much. She started silently at first but couldn't hold it in. What started out as a giggle became all out bursting laughter, her shoulders shaking and tears springing to her eyes.
Kagome laughed until her sides hurt and then looked back to her friends, giggly slightly and wiping her eyes. "I am so sorry. I really am taking this serious, but the looks on your faces…" she had to stop and laugh some more, but her friends were getting over their shock and starting to see the hilarity. Kagome did feel sorry though for her poor friends. They tried so hard to hook her up with something. She flung her arms over their shoulders and smiled brightly at them. "Come on girls, he was all wrong. Didn't have the style you are always on about. And did you see arms, oh yeah, definitely lacking in the muscle department. Don't worry, I'll be reasonable with the next one."
The three girls looked at each other then back to Kagome and they all started to laugh. There were just some things that friends understand and found funny. It was an inside joke. They knew that she was joking with them and mocking the way they gawked and how they always tried to find her a guy. And she knew that they knew that.
"Kagome, I may not always understand you, but you know I love you anyway, right?" said Sasuka, still laughing.
Kagome smiled, truly happy for the first time tonight. "Sure thing."
That feeling lasted for the next three seconds and ended when two things happened, the lights dimmed and Rei announced, "It's starting." 'Oh God' thought Kagome, her nervousness flooding back into her with a vengeance.
All around her people were jumping to their feet and rushing towards the stage. Her friends guided her forward towards the large crowd, and as they got closer, people started to surround her and close in. Kagome could feel the impending doom as she watched her bubble of personal space shrink into nothingness. 'Please let me survive this.'

A/N: Okay, you might not be happy that that chapter is over but I am. It is currently 2:40 in the morning. But I'm not that tired. It's one of those "so tired that I'm not any more," you know. Either that or I'm just crazy, you decide. I'm excited for the next chapter though. It is obviously the mosh pit chapter. It should be my longest yet and I have an outline of it so I should have it up in about a day or so. Anyway, I must say thanks for the reviews. The more I get, the more I feel like sitting at my computer and typing new chapters so that those fans can read them. So thanks, you guys are a big help. Till the next chapter. Chase J
