InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Girl and the Band ❯ The Invitation ( Chapter 6 )
A/N: Okay, they have finally met each other. Good God, it took five long chapters to do it too. I've read fics where it takes forEVER for those two lovebirds to meet and I always vowed I would never do that if I wrote a fanfiction. Hmph, whole lota truth that vow held. Anyway, so that's over with, now the fun may begin. Heh…Heh…Heh. On with the fic.
Disclaimer: Okay, this is my sixth disclaimer, and there are getting…just a bit…annoying. I promise I don't own Inuyasha. I swear to you…in blood. Okay not in blood. One: that's gross. Two: I am very squeamish around blood, and I am allergic to pain. But that aside, I swear I don't own Inu or any of the other characters. Really…truly…I don't. Oh, right then, on with the fic, seriously now.

Invitation
She had been devastated. How dare he even dream of… To even think that that was acceptable behavior, whether or not his little song had suggested his indifference and even irritation towards her opinions. But she had quickly realized it was a game. He was too competitive for his own good. But she would not back down. They were meant to be, if he thought so or not. He could not leave her; he wouldn't leave her.
She had seen that little hussy he had carried onto the stage and rubbed against himself. She posed no threat over all. Let him play; let him have his whore. She knew that she herself was the only one for him. She knew his secret. And she would use it against him, to bring him back to her. His heart belonged to her, only her. She would see to that.
Her eyes swept him now, as he continued what he did best. He had not looked at her since he had sung that vile arrangement of words he had dedicated to her. She smiled slightly. She knew it was a show. He was putting on another show. But he would soon be hers, she knew. It could be no other way.
Her mind drifted back to that girl. His face had shown true concern, true feeling, and true emotion. His face had revealed emotions not even she had seen before. Could it be he had feelings for that wench already? It was impossible of course, but it had been there, in his eyes.
Kikyo shifted her gaze away from the stage, her face set in a pensive expression. Could it be that he was in love with her? As the thought occurred she chuckled lightly to herself. It did not matter, her gaze sliding back to Inuyasha, he was hers. And if that little girl did end up presenting a problem? Kikyo let the sly grin grace her features, 'She would die.'
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Well, it had been substantially better onstage than off. For one, she could hear the music. She could see the band and she could watch them play. Oh and she didn't have to endure brutal and painful torture. Yes, much better from this spot.
Kagome stood in the same place Inuyasha had left her, watching and listening to her new favorite band as they played.
Sango was awesome. She played the electric and bass guitar, switching depending on the song.
Miroku was very impressive on the drums. It appeared that he knew many of those tricks she had seen drummers do on TV. Like spinning his drum sticks and tossing them in the air.
Shippo, who she had not yet met, looked no older than her brother, 13, and he was the cutest little boy she had ever seen. He had big blue eyes and red hair. He looked very happy and energetic and was superb on his electric keyboard.
Inuyasha… Well…he played guitar when Sango played bass, he sang like an angel, he had the looks of a god, he took her breath away, he made her knees weak, she was going crazy for fantasizing about a guy and gawking at him like her silly friends, he had beautiful eyes, strong arms, toned body, heroic features, wild hair, and oh God she had read way to many romantic novels.
She pried her eyes away from his form, but found them drifting back. 'What is wrong with me? I don't do this. My friends do this, other girls do this, soap opera stars do this. Not me, not Kagome Higurashi.' She looked at guys, but she wasn't just looking at Inuyasha, far from it. She felt…consumed.
'This is stupid. Get a grip Kagome. You don't know this guy and he doesn't know you. He is a rich, famous, arrogant idiot too used to getting his way. The fact that he saved you, is too hot for words, is nice and witty, and that you are completely into him has nothing to do with it.' She blinked at what she had just rambled in her mind and smacked her forehead. 'That's it, I've reached rock bottom. I've become a yuppie little girl.'
'Or you just like him. There is nothing wrong with liking a guy.'
'Yeah, but why him. He is famous and probably has lots of girls more beautiful than me.'
'You know that him being famous is not an issue, you're just nervous because you have never liked anyone like this before.'
'Yeah well, what about my doubts. I wouldn't feel those if I truly liked him. And maybe I'm nervous because I don't like him. How do you explain all that.'
'It's called denial. Shame the Gods and admit you like him.'
'Well, okay. I do a little maybe. Wait…ugh, not again. When will I learn to not talk to myself.'
Kagome watched as Inuyasha and his band sang what was announced as their last song. She noticed the guards gaining in numbers in front of the stage and she wondered why. As the song concluded, the crowd screamed for more, but the concert was over. They all left their instruments, others already coming to whisk them away, and they walked quickly and purposefully offstage towards the back where their dressing room was.
Inuyasha headed for Kagome, grabbed her hand, and quickly escorted the blushing girl to the room with him. 'Okay, so I'm going back there again. Great. I have know idea why, but sure, this is nice.' As she glanced back to the stage, she saw lots of people following them.
They both walked into the room, Inuyasha locking the door behind them. Miroku glanced up from his newspaper and seemed amused to see Kagome. Sango was tuning a guitar and also sported an amused look when she noticed Kagome.
"Who's that?" said the little boy named Shippo.
"Her name is Kagome. She is one of Inuyasha's…ahh…friends," explained Sango.
"Oh, okay." Shippo rushed over to her and peered up at her with his blue eyes. "I'm Shippo. Have you come to play with me? No one else does. I know Sango says you are friends with Inuyasha, but you look too nice, so you can be mine instead. Okay?"
Kagome smiled, "Of course I will be your friend."
Shippo's smile widened. He looked around Kagome and noticed the fuming Inuyasha. He gave him a big smirk and then turned back to Kagome. "That's good, Inuyasha is no fun any way. He is very mean to me." Shippo put on his best pouting face.
"Oh no. Why is he mean?"
"Because he hates me," Shippo cried.
"Oh…." Kagome leaned down to hug him while Shippo, Sango, and Miroku all watched Inuyasha's ever-darkening expression. "I'm sure he doesn't hate you."
"Yes he does." Shippo threw Inuyasha another smirk. Inuyasha cracked.
"That's it." He lunged for the boy, running around the room as Shippo laughed and screamed that Kagome liked him better. Miroku and Sango both sighed and resumed their previous actions, not surprised with the proceedings. However, Kagome was very confused.
"Inuyasha, stop chasing him." Inuyasha looked up at Kagome and huffed but stopped his pursuit and walked over to her. "You shouldn't tease him like that, he is just a little boy."
"He is not a 'little boy'. He is a conniving little brat that is always trying to annoy me."
"Am not."
"Are too."
"Am not."
"Enough, you are both giving me a headache."
"You are way too weak, bitch. Does everything make you sick?"
"It's easy to be constantly sick when I'm around you. And don't call me that."
"What, Bitch? Truth hurts sometimes."
"Yes and you are truly getting on my nerves."
"Well it's good you know my intentions."
Kagome stared at Inuyasha, without anything to say. 'Damn he is quick.' "Hmph." She crossed her arms over her chest and turned away.
"Yes, I win, I am better than you."
"As if, you didn't win."
"Did to, you gave up."
"Right, against a guy with your obvious lack of wit I gave up. The day you win is the day Shippo gives you a kiss." Both Shippo and Inuyasha looked mortified. "See, I win, not you," she said proudly with a smirk.
Inuyasha sputtered, "You do not, you cheated."
"Against what rules dimwit, you're just mad you lost."
"I did not loose!"
"Did too!"
The other watched the confrontation with amazement. Shippo turned to Sango and Miroku, "Those to are worst than me and him are."
"It seems so."
They all shrugged and went back to their tasks.
"Whatever Inuyasha. Have it your way." 'For now.'
"Hmph, I plan to."
"Why am I back here anyway? I though I had to look for my friends."
"You will have to do that later, you can't get out now."
"Why not?"
"Allow me if you will." Miroku stood up and walked between to the two. "You see Kagome, it is simple. My stunning looks are hard to resist, so naturally, many girls find their way backstage and stand outside waiting for me. It would be sheer madness to depart before they have dispersed." As Miroku finished both Inuyasha and Sango gave him an exasperated look. "What?"
Kagome walked over to the door and put her ear to it. She could hear lots of voices and it sounded as if many people were gathered outside the room. But she could also recognize the word 'Inuyasha' said many times. So at least Miroku's story held some truth.
"So then, when do I go find my friends?"
Inuyasha looked uncertain. "I'm not sure, whenever the people outside the door are gone."
"Gee, that's really helpful, thanks for the information captain obvious." She turned back to the door and leaned against it.
Inuyasha sat down in the corner, his arms up behind his head. His eyes, appearing closed, studied Kagome as she leaned against the wall, staring up at the ceiling with a content expression. 'She is so beautiful.' His face hardened and he smiled. 'And she can be a little bitch too. She is different, I'll give her that.'
Kagome's head, lulled against the door, rolled side to side as she waited. All of a sudden, a sound reached her ears, "Kagome? Kagome? Are you in there?"
She spun around, attracting the attention of the others as she yelled through the door. "Yuka? Is that you?"
"Kagome? You are in there. Can we come in? It's kinda cramped out here."
"Yeah and we are getting smushed."
"Badly."
Kagome gave Inuyasha a pleading glance, asking his permission. He got up, intending to tell her the door couldn't open before looking into her eyes. 'Stupid girl, I can't refuse you. Why do you affect me like this?' He shoved her aside and groaned, unlocking and opening the door.
He stood in the doorframe, the crowd screaming wildly at the sight of him as he held them back. Kagome motioned to the three girls to come inside. They ducked under Inuyasha's arm and made it through, the crowd pulling Inuyasha outside as he struggled to close the door.
"Inuyasha!" Kagome screamed as the door closed. She went to open it but Miroku stopped her. She looked at him, worried and confused.
He smiled, "He knows what he is doing."
"Oh." Kagome felt worried even if Miroku wasn't. She paced back and forth in front of the door, her friends confused, torn between helping Kagome and placing all their attention on the cute drummer who was flirting with them. Shippo looked nonplused. Sango fumed, her eyes livid as she watched Miroku.
Then the back door, the one Kagome hadn't noticed, swung open and Inuyasha swaggered in. Kagome looked up, as did everyone else, and ran over to him. "Are you okay?"
He looked surprised that she was worried. It was a cute expression. Then his arrogant smirk took over, erasing the cute one. "I am not weak…like some one we know who will go unmentioned." He coughed, a sound that was suspiciously close to her name.
Kagome threw up her hands as Inuyasha pointed and laughed at her. "Why do I worry about you? Who cares what happens to arrogant, self-centered, annoying idiots anyway."
"You apparently," answered Inuyasha, still laughing.
"Shut up. Hmph, baka."
Inuyasha stopped laughing and looked at her sternly. "What did you call me bitch."
"What, baka? Truth hurts sometimes."
"Stupid."
"Idiot."
"Bitch."
"Bastard."
Both leaned into each other growling, their faces inches apart. Miroku noted how close they stood. "If you two want to be alone…"
They looked at Miroku, assessed their current positions, and jumped away from each other. Miroku looked amused, again.
Kagome looked at Inuyasha. "Are we going now?"
He looked at her and smiled, "Of course."

Twenty minutes later Inuyasha had two limos packed and one driver with Sasuka's car. The driver and one limo would take Sasuka home, then the driver would get in the limo and the other girls could either get out with Sasuka, or have the limo drive them home. Inuyasha and his band occupied the other limo. Kagome, at the request of Inuyasha, was in limo two.
Kagome and Sango sat next to each other, their conversation from before resumed. The three boys sat and stared at the two girls.
Kagome's friends had wanted her to ride with them, but then Inuyasha had looked at her and asked if she wanted to ride with them. She had looked at her friends apologetically, but for some reason, they just smiled to each other and told her to ride with him. She would never understand those three.
"Hey Kagome, you should come spend some time with us. You have summer break in a week right? You should come to our mansion. We could stay up late and talk and share secrets and workout together and go shopping, you know, girl stuff.
Kagome's smile grew as Sango chattered on. "That's sounds like so much fun. I don't have anything planned. Is it alright?"
Sango looked at Inuyasha, who had been listening intently until looking away when she glanced at him. Her mouth turned up to a slanted smile, then to a full blown one when Inuyasha looked back, his face timid, but his eyes screaming his desire to have Kagome do that very thing. She adjusted her gaze back to the unaware Kagome. "I'm sure it's fine, very sure." Her eyes flicked to the silver-haired boy.
Kagome also turned to look at Inuyasha. "Is it alright with you?"
Inuyasha once again had his mask of indifference firmly in place, "Keh, ain't no business of mine if Sango wants to invite you over."
"Right, leader," Sango added, pleased with Inuyasha's blush.
"Well, I will be glad to have another beautiful lady present at the mansion, it will be quite refreshing." Miroku smiled at Kagome, his hand outstretched to grab hers.
"Watch it lecher," Inuyasha growled.
"Yay," Shippo jumped up and squeezed in between Kagome and Sango and looked up to Kagome adoringly. "Now you can play video games with me."
Kagome rubbed his small head, messing his hair. "Sure."
They all started talking and making plans for her to be picked up and arrive in five days, when school was out. Inuyasha sat back, a smile gracing his lips.

Kagome raced around her room gathering her stuff. She had planned to be gone for a while. Her mom had decided to go and visit her distant relatives for about a month and she had planned to take Kagome and Souta. Kagome had asked to stay with friends instead and her mother had complied. She had had to call Sango and ask if she could stay a bit longer than originally expected. Sango had been ecstatic. Apparently living with all guys had its down side. She was packing last minute stuff before Sango came to pick her up.
She had been able to load all her stuff into one yellow bag, but it was the size of Texas. She shoved the rest of her savings into her wallet, put that in her purse, and slung her purse over her shoulder. She wore a short green skirt and a white tank top and sandals. Her hair was in a ponytail and she had applied a hint of makeup and chap stick.
The last week of school had been hell. She had to take six finals and the load of study work at home had been tremendous. Not to mention her anxiousness about going to spend a month with her new friends.
A loud honk broke her from her thoughts and she smiled and lugged her huge bag down the stairs. Her mom and brother had already left, earlier in the morning. She checked the house for last minute things than pulled her bag outside and closed the door behind her.
"Are you bringing your entire room with you wench?" growled an unmistakable voice.
Kagome's head snapped up. Inuyasha, fully clad in black leather with his hair tied back and a pair of sunglasses hiding his eyes, strutted up towards her. "What are you doing here?" she snapped in surprise.
"Good to see you to," he said as he bent to pick up the oversized bag.
"No that's not what I meant. Sango was supposed to pick me up," Kagome explained.
"I know. Trust me, I would be sleeping right now, but she said she had to do some cleaning before you got there. She is a freak about that. So she made me come get you." As he walked away, Kagome watched him. He was wearing a black leather tank top and black pants. He had gloves without fingertips and black boots. He also wore a chain around his neck with the band logo on it. 'Ugh, yep, way to full of himself.'
Inuyasha turned to see Kagome staring at him. He waited a moment but she still just stood there. "If your done staring at me would you hurry up." He smirked when she jumped slightly, a blush grazing her cheeks as she hurried to catch up with him. She was now staring at the ground, giving him time to return the stare. His eyes swept her and he smiled. He liked the fact that she liked how he looked.
They walked down the long star case and Kagome looked up. There was a limo that Inuyasha was stuffing her bag in. But he wasn't getting in himself. He turned and walked to the front of the limo. Her eyes followed until they rested on a beautiful, shiny, brand new, and probably insanely expensive motorcycle.
She walked up to him as he got on and looked at it. "Do you like it?" he asked with a proud grin.
"Yeah, sure," she said shakily. She didn't like motorcycles, they were rather intimidating. "Its stunning."
"Yep, its my baby," he stated as he ran his hand over the smooth metal.
"Bet you had fun pushing that clunker out."
"Huh?"
"Never mind." She turned to go to the limo.
"Do you want a ride?"
She stopped dead. On one hand, she had a handsome man in leather asking her to ride with him and on the other she had a dangerous, dark, and very fast vehicle, capable of killing her in an instant. She turned back to face him, "Yes and no, I don't like endangering my life. I think I'll ride in the limo thanks." 'Good work Kagome, nice peaceful ride, no interruptions, safe seat belt, and a leisurely speed. Inuyasha will understand.'
"Chicken."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
She hadn't been able to resist. He had called her a chicken. Yeah right, like she could let him do that. She would ride that thing if it killed her.
Her arms were tight around Inuyasha, her body pressed as close as humanly possible to his and she had long ago closed her eyes. It wasn't that bad actually. She would probably be embarrassed out of her mind when Inuyasha told Miroku and Sango, but it mattered little.
The wind whipped her free hair around her face and the bike swayed back and forth as Inuyasha maneuvered around cars. He was a very good driver and she felt safe with him. She also had to admit that she liked clinging to him. His body was perfect. It was as hard and firm as a rock and she could fell the muscles of his well-formed chest through the leather, and the muscles at his back as he tensed his arms to drive. She could also feel the power of the bike beneath her. She felt free, at home, as if the speed, power, danger, and excitement were so much like her spirit that it didn't hide behind her mask, but flew with her, unleashed.
She threw her head back, loving the feel of the wind as it cracked around her. She watched the world blur as life sped by. She was full of it, full of life. She had never experienced these sensations before, and she knew she wouldn't have traded them for the world. She silently thanked Inuyasha; it was him that had done this. She had felt more alive since the moment she had met him, the moment she had gazed upon his perfect face. She felt completed. She wasn't sure what that meant but she didn't want that feeling to leave, ever.
He liked riding his bike. It had always brought him to life, set him free. He could go anywhere, do anything, everything was possible. But he had never remembered a ride quite as pleasurable as this one.
Kagome had fallen for the bait hook, line, and sinker. He knew when he had called her a chicken than he had her, her body tense, surging with courage born of stubbornness. She had let the weak thing slide once or twice, but she wouldn't let him call her a coward. Without a second thought, she had jumped on, her skirt hiked up to her hips, and had held on for dear life. He had laughed at it, but he didn't mind. It was a nice sensation. She was small and soft. Her head had been on his back, body flush to his, tiny shivers running through her, her fragrant hair brushing against his cheek, and he had felt, well, like a god.
He was famous and adored, women around him wanting him every second. But he would give that up in an instant if it meant winning her affection. He felt different with her. Life was more full, whole. He barely even knew her, but a week away had told him one thing. He felt better when she was around. And he didn't ever want that feeling to leave.

A/N: I wanted them to arrive at the mansion, but I think I will end it here. But I'm going to keep writing. The new chapter will be up soon, promise. So review please, they keep me writing. Chase.
