InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Girl and the Band ❯ Challenge One: Let the Mayhem Begin ( Chapter 8 )
A/N: Okay, so I posted my seven chapters on Media Miner the other day because FanFiction.net was on the blink, and then Media Miner wouldn't work. So when I finally got back in, I had 24 reviews. That is very cool. Though, quite a few people commented on whether or not it was stopping there. I'd like to speak for every one when I say, hell no, *Ahem* excuse my language, lol. I am writing this thing as I go, so I'm not really sure what will happen, so it is kinda like reading it as I go. And I definitely would not want the author to stop. Trust me, if it is up to me, you will see the end of this fic. So enough rambling, thanks for your wonderful reviews, on with the fic…
Disclaimer: Okay…I guess on with the disclaimer. I don't own Inuyasha. Sheesh, how many times must I write those infernal words? It's actually very depressing. Oh well. Now…on with the fic…(for real this time.)

Challenge One: Let the Mayhem Begin
Sango was regaining her headache that had retreated with the latte. Her agitation at the smirk that Miroku was flashing her, and her irritation at Kagome and Inuyasha's staring contest was growing considerably. If she didn't get out of this room soon she would not be responsible for the consequences, no matter how gruesome and satisfying they might be.
She closed her eyes and clenched her fists. "Okay, so…now that we all understand the rules," she gritted out, "we can depart from the basement." She looked up. As she had expected everyone was in the same position as before. More specifically they had not heard her. Even more specifically, they were ignoring her.
"That's it." Sango walked up to Miroku and smacked him across his cheek to bring him out of his most likely perverted thoughts, then walked over to the glaring others, grabbed the arm of the now surprised and protesting Kagome, and proceeded to drag her up the stairs.
"What are you doing?"
"Whatever I can to get you to stop glaring at Inuyasha."
Kagome sputtered, "He started it, it wasn't my fault."
Sango turned her head and gave a flat glare to Kagome over her shoulder, clearly saying that she didn't care. Kagome gave a little "humph" folded her arms across her chest and followed Sango up the stairs. When they reached the top, Sango turned to look at Kagome.
"Did you bring a lot of stuff?"
Kagome's irritated expression quickly changed to one of excitement, making Sango inwardly laugh. "Yeah, in a big yellow bag. By the way, where will I be sleeping?"
"Anywhere you want. We have eighty-two bedrooms."
Kagome's eyes widened in disbelief, "Eighty-two?"
Sango didn't look surprised at her reaction. "Uhuh, Inuyasha insisted."
"Did not, it came that way," echoed a gruff reply as the two boys came storming up the stairs. Miroku and Sango looked at each other and laughed. Kagome's face revealed her confusion and Inuyasha's famous face of irritation was still firmly in place.
"What is so funny," asked Kagome when Sango had quieted.
Sango looked at Kagome, letting her laughter finally die, "Inuyasha's statement."
"Yeah," Miroku picked up, "He was very picky about the building of this place. He made sure the plans were drawn to his exact preferences. And he had the designer page him whenever there was a change."
"Yep, he was quite a maniac about it. But we must be wrong, right Inu, it came that way." Sango and Miroku began to laugh again.
Kagome looked thoughtful, "Hmm, Inuyasha being picky, then denying it later. Sounds like him."
"Why I ought to…"
"Not right now lover boy, me and her have to get ready for bed," Sango interrupted as she pulled a red Kagome past an even redder Inuyasha.
The two watched as the girls climbed the stairs to the second floor, Kagome looking impressed at Sango's continuous account of everything they encountered on the way.
Miroku eyed Inuyasha before stretching and heading for the stairs on the opposite side of the room, "Lover boy, huh. Wonder why she thought that. Inuyasha, I didn't know you had it in you."
"You better run up those stairs lecher cause you caught me in a bad mood."
"Very intimidating. Try it again with a growl."
"Miroku…!" Inuyasha yelled as he charged the now running boy up the stairs to their bedrooms.
The room fell silent again as a little boy took off his headphones and turned his game off. He looked around the room for the first time in hours.
"Hmm," wondered Shippo aloud, "I wonder if Kagome got here? Where is everyone?" He spared the room a glance before shrugging and heading up the stairs the girls had taken.

Kagome had decided on the bedroom right next to Sango. It had a door to connect the two rooms so that they could both converse while in either room. The butler brought in her luggage and set it near a large wooden wardrobe.
She examined the room she was staying in. It had light brown carpet and off white walls. The bed was large and tall with curtains draped around it. There was a desk with a glass lamp and a padded chair in the corner across from the wardrobe and a television with a small couch in the other corner. She had two windows and a balcony, which she went to the moment she discovered it. It was large and had a long deck chair with an umbrella.
She walked over to the deck ledge and peered down to gauge how high she was. She looked out over the city and watched the sun set. She was truly happy she was here. Who would have thought that Ms. Kagome nobody would be staying at the personal residence of the Shikon no Tama's. She hadn't. It was surreal, but pleasant.
She loved Sango and Miroku; they made her laugh and were very nice. And little Shippo was cute and kind. The fourth member tugged at her mind for the millionth time that day. Inuyasha confused her. He was nice but mean, teasing but arrogant, gorgeous but ghastly. And the feelings she got when she was with him. She didn't want to be with any one else. The feelings she got when he touched her were new too. She felt hot all over, her body pulsing where it met his, small threads of desire weaving through her blood to rest in the pit of her stomach, the only thought in her head being the need to be closer.
What she felt was strangely reminiscent of the feelings described in her books. But that was impossible, even silly. She took a deep breath and pushed herself off the ledge, turning to head inside. Those people in her books were in love, or quickly falling there. And if she knew anything in the world it was this, she was not falling in love with Inuyasha.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Inuyasha stared at the girl below as she watched the sun set over the hills. She had taken the room next to Sango's, her balcony conveniently under and to the left of Inuyasha's. Girls were predictable. 'Well, most girls. Kagome is somehow…different.'
Inuyasha continued to watch her as he thought. What was it about her? She was the most beautiful girl he had ever laid his eyes upon. She was small and soft. But she was also strong and temperamental. No girl had ever enthralled him more. But, none had ever irritated him so completely also. At times, he could see himself throttling her neck for her impertinence. But he could also see himself trailing his hands down her soft curves, and slowly kissing that smooth neck, pulling her body close to his while his hands thrust into her hair and he positioned her head and mouth to received his hot kiss…
Inuyasha shook his head to stop the fantasy that was invading his mind. He had been having them all day, ever since she had grabbed his shoulders and pressed herself against him for their joy ride. She had done it out of fear, but the feeling was there all the same.
That woman confused him. She was completely innocent, he could tell. But everything she did sent charges of thrill and desire racing through him as his body tightened and became hard. What was it about her…
She leaned closer to the railing and sighed. Inuyasha watched her, trying to solve the mystery. The confusion was making his head hurt.
'Keh, stupid wench. She'll catch cold.' It wasn't cold outside, but he wasn't thinking straight. He was worrying about her, like he cared for her. But that was stupid; it wasn't like he liked her. Miroku's voice echoed in his head, reminding him again of his comment that he was in love with her. He watched as Kagome pushed herself off the rail and stepped into her room.
He turned slowly and made up his mind. Kagome was desirable because she was pretty and annoying because she liked to argue. There was no way he, Inuyasha, leader of the Shikon no Tama's was in love with Kagome.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Kagome reentered her room and walked a direct path to her pack, digging through it to find her pajamas. Her nighttime attire, she had decided, would cover her entirely and leave little of her skin uncovered. When she had packed, she knew that she would be in the same house sleeping with a perverted drummer and Inuyasha who was not perverted, but was a guy, reason enough in her mind.
Her hand found the article in question and she dragged them out. Her pajamas were a pair of baggy pants with a matching pullover long-sleeved shirt with three buttons located at the round collar. Little duck patterns graced the flannel material and as she slipped them on she realized two things. She could practically swim in them, and she would be so hot at night she would probably expire.
Sango knocked briefly at her open door before entering her room and giving Kagome a quizzical look. But if she had anything to say, she had kept it to herself, offering only the mild shrug of her shoulders. "Are you ready?"
"For bed? Yes."
"No…to go back down stairs." Sango was wearing a pair of striped shorts and a tank top, her hair in a high ponytail.
"Now why would we do that after getting ready for bed?"
"Well, it is late enough to get comfortable," she paused and looked at Kagome's suit, "But it is only nine, the night is very young. We're not going to bed yet. There is ice-cream, popcorn, and a DVD system that would bring the house down."
"Oh…I see. Normally, when I put on clothes to sleep, I then go to sleep."
"Weird."
"Yeah, uhuh."
"So, your ready then?" Sango asked again.
"Yeah, I guess I am."
"Okay lets go."
The two made there way down the stairs to the room Kagome had been to often, the living room. Kagome went straight for the couch and slumped into it, feeling exhausted. Sango looked at her, noticing she had taken the best seat in the room, and then to the kitchen, "I'll go get us food."
"Uhhh," was all Kagome could muster. She was comfortable and the day had been long, hopefully she would get to spend the remainder of it resting.
"Stupid lecher. I didn't say that."
No such luck.
Inuyasha and Miroku came barging down the stairs, also in pajamas, still arguing. Kagome looked up and gasped. Miroku was in long pants and a gray t-shirt, looking perfectly normal. Inuyasha was in what looked like designer boxers, if there was such a thing, and a tight white tank top that perfectly accentuated his muscled chest and stomach and sported the band logo across the chest.
Inuyasha heard her gasp and turned, noticing what had cause the reaction, and gave her that Goddamn smirk again.
Kagome quickly recovered from her shock and put on her thoughtful face, cocking her head and openly staring at Inuyasha.
"Are you ready for bed or a pajama modeling shoot?"
Inuyasha glared at her before noticing her apparel.
"Are you ready for bed or planning to take a trip to Antarctica?"
"I'll have you know that these are very sensible when around company."
"Yeah, and you'll be hotter than hell."
Kagome no longer cared. She walked straight to the surprised leader and bopped him on the head. Then walked straight to the kitchen.
"What are you doing here?"
"I came to help." Sango gave Kagome a dry look. "Inuyasha is giving me shit about my pajamas."
"Oh," Sango glanced again at Kagome clothes, "Wouldn't know why…" she trailed off.
Kagome placed her hands on her hips. "And what is wrong with them?"
"Well…your going to be hotter than hell."
"Have you been listening to Inuyasha?" Kagome asked quickly.
"Kagome you know I've been in here, why do you ask?"
"No reason," she muttered as she stomped out. She arrived in time to see Shippo bound down the stairs in shorts and a shirt three sizes too big. He ran straight to Kagome and stopped when he saw her. "Where are you going?" he asked, innocently worried.
"Nowhere, why?" Kagome asked softly.
"Your dressed like your going out somewhere, somewhere cold…"
"Antarctica?"
Kagome turned slowly to glare at the arrogant bastard who she realized had taken her spot on the couch. "I. Am. Not. Going. To. Antarctica. Understood?
"Then why you dressed for it wench? You're going to be hotter than hell."
"That's it." Kagome turned to the stairs and marched towards them. She heard Sango calling after her to ask where she was going. "To change."
Sango looked back to the couch and found a very smug looking Inuyasha. She scoffed, picked up a couch pillow and threw it at him.

Kagome made it to her room and dug through her bag, her mission clear. She had packed every piece of clothing she owned and she was hunting for the most sleazy shorts and most revealing shirt. She found what she wanted.
Her mom had owned a pair of gym shorts, back when the schools provided them, and back when said school was trying to cut the costs by creating very short shorts that were blue with white lining and that cut upward, revealing the hip, on the sides. Kagome now held those shorts in her hand.
In her other hand, she held a small white tank top, cut low at the chest and too short to cover her stomach.
'Perfect.'
She quickly changed into the new clothes, admitting she felt more comfortable, but ready to show up a certain jerk all the same.
She marched back down the stairs and then paused, waiting for everyone to notice her.
Sango was first. She looked stunned but quickly realized the game and smiled, her eyes flashing towards Inuyasha. Shippo came next, twirling around to see Kagome and squeal that she had returned. Miroku and Inuyasha looked simultaneously. Miroku gasped as his eyes quickly traced over her entire body. Inuyasha's jaw dropped and he stared at her, his eyes going wide.
Kagome hid her smile as she sauntered down the stairs, making sure to swing her hips as she headed towards Inuyasha. She passed Sango and paused slightly.
"Sango."
"Kagome," Sango answered telling her she understood.
Kagome nodded her head and continued. She walked right up to Inuyasha and stood in front of him, placing her hands lightly on her hips and running her tongue across her lips. She smiled when she heard his quick intake of breath.
"Inuyasha…" He nodded dumbly. She leaned down to put her lips close to his ear, "Your in my seat."
It was hilarious to watch as he quickly got up, stumbling over any and everything in his hast to do her bidding. She looked at him calmly and gave him a brilliant smile.
"Thank you."
She slumped gracefully back into her seat, snuggling into the heat Inuyasha left and proceeded to laugh. Sango also laughed, coming up to give Kagome a high five before falling on her in a fit of giggles. They both hugged each other while laughing as Miroku got up, walked over to Inuyasha and used his finger to shut his open jaw.
"Inuyasha, you're an idiot."
Inuyasha stared for a second longer before he shook his head and let the reality of what happened hit him. His expressions darken as he realized what had happened. Miroku watched with amusement as his friend's expression went from stunned to confused to understanding to rage.
"Yes, you have been duped."
Inuyasha folded his arms across his chest and glared at the laughing girls. "Keh, told you she would be hotter than hell."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Sango got the popcorn and picked out a movie. "You want to watch this Kag?"
"Sure."
"We are not watching some stupid chick flick."
"Oh really." Kagome gave Inuyasha a knowing look and he blushed, putting his arms over his chest, but quieting. "That's right."
"Wait, I want you to play video games with me."
"We want to watch this movie, you can play with Kagome later, okay Shippo."
"But I want to play now, just one game, it won't take long. I can't play it by myself."
"It's okay Shippo, I'll play it with you. We can watch that movie a bit later, kay."
Kagome grabbed the controller as Shippo sat next to her and the other three sat on the floor.
"What are we playing?"
"Killer Instinct. I'm really good, so it's okay if you don't win, you're not bad or anything."
"Why thank you Shippo, but I have played this before and I'm not bad either."
Inuyasha gave a disbelieving grunt. Kagome looked at him. "Translation please."
Miroku looked up at her and answered, "Jaws here figures himself king of this game. Unfortunately, he can back up that claim with his playing. No one here can beat him." Inuyasha looked proud, the red blush from Miroku's earlier statement still on his cheeks.
"Is that so."
The game began and Kagome chose the girl, the only one she knew how to play. She had lied to poor Shippo, Kagome was better than good at this game, she was great. It was the only game Souta had that she liked. She had scourged the Internet looking for the games secret codes and glitches. She had learned all about her character and was to the point where she had to try very hard to give Souta a little time before beating him. She figured she would do that with Shippo, but if Inuyasha was as good as he claimed to be, she would finally have a challenge. But she couldn't get him to play if she didn't cream Shippo. 'What must be done…must be done.'
The battle started and round one was over after Kagome's first hit. Miroku stared at the screen. "I've never seen that move before."
"Each player has their own moves, maybe you've never seen this player."
Miroku gave Kagome a felt look, "It's the only player Sango will choose." Kagome looked over to Sango who blushed at the fact that she was nowhere near Kagome's ability to bring out the players potential. "I can't believe it though, it took away all the other players points."
Kagome had anticipated that, but the move was only supposed to take about fourth, unless you hit the opponent's spinal cord in their neck. That she also knew. The next round started and Kagome let it last a little longer before using a quick move to kill the opponent again.
When the final round began and everyone stared attentively, Kagome knew she had to impress them all to get Inuyasha to play. So she moved her character into position and pressed the complicated long sequence of buttons that needed to be exact and quick, turning her player into a golden tiger, which charged the opponent and quickly took him out.
The game announced a record for shortest rounds, lest hits, beating opponent without being killed, and the miraculous record of beating opponent without being hit. Everyone was stunned, as well as Shippo.
"Wow, you are really good."
"Hmmm, maybe the best." Kagome put on her smug expression.
Inuyasha quickly took the bait and rose to the challenge. "Like hell. I'm the best."
Miroku got up and centered himself between to two. "How about we make this an official challenge. Who ever wins counts that as a point for their side, fair?"
"Perfect." Kagome and Sango exchanged looks, Sango confident Kagome could win after what she just saw.
"If you want to lose." Inuyasha looked to Miroku who for he first time looked pleased that Inuyasha was good at the game.
Inuyasha took Shippo's spot on the couch and choose his player. When he chose, he pressed buttons, making a player available to him that was not on the normal list. It was the final boss, if in one-player mode, and the strongest player. But if Inuyasha was choosing him, he knew codes, which meant that the battle promised to be great.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Two hours later and they were on the final match. Kagome had caught Inuyasha by surprise, winning the first round with ease. The second had taken forever, both using all their moves to kill each other, Inuyasha coming out the victor. The last round had started. Inuyasha had been using a technique continually before Kagome learned how to counter it.
He gritted his teeth, "I'm going to win this."
"Kinda looks like we are tied."
"Not for long wench, haven't used the ultimate attack yet."
Kagome tensed. Her ultimate attack was the tiger. She had some suspicion that the ultimate attack of Inuyasha's character had to do with his hammer, but she would need to see it to counter it. And to do that, she would probably loose. So on that level, he had a point.
She saw him stop and start to press buttons like crazy. 'Crap, here it comes.'
"Heh, you are soo gone. Remember, I'm the king of this game."
The huge character swung his large hammer around his head, bringing it down to Kagome's character. She did the only think she could think of. If it hit her completely, she was gone. If it hit her slightly, she would have enough life to maybe win. So she jumped, the hammer knocking into the legs of the girl and taking away all but a sliver of her life.
"Hmm, still alive aren't I."
"Not for long." She saw him pressing buttons to use the attack again. Her mind worked like quicksilver. The attack had one flaw; at a certain time one could jump to avoid it. The characters jump left her legs exposed, but if in tiger form, it would glide over effortlessly and have an open path to the neck, the most vulnerable spot.
Kagome made her mind and positioned her player, pressing her buttons quickly as the giant swung his mallet. Just in time, her character changed and it jumped over the hammer, straight for the opponent, gaining a direct hit.
Inuyasha character died slowly, Kagome giving it the final blow before the game announced her as the winner.
Kagome leaned back on the couch, her arms behind her head, her friends sleeping at her feet, and Inuyasha sitting stunned beside her.
"You may call me queen."
"Why you…"
Kagome grabbed Inuyasha's shirt and pulled him back so they were both reclining on the couch.
"Not now, too tired to argue. I'm gonna rest for a moment. Remind me to tell Sango we got a point."
Inuyasha watched as Kagome quickly fell into a deep sleep. "Yeah okay."
He ran a hand across her face and then turned to his side, laying against the couch arm and falling asleep himself.

A/N: I know, lame first challenge, but had to do it. Next will be better. Although, I need to know how many challenges I should do. Review and tell me. Another chapter done and I'm off to bed.
