It was then the next morning, InuYasha and his friends were up and ready to search for their arch foe, Naraku. Despite how they had no leads to hunt down Naraku, it seemed that everyone was ready to kill Naraku… well at least InuYasha was ready. The rest of group the seemed just plain tired. InuYasha's pace seemed faster than the rest of his friends as he was slowly leaving his friends behind, Kagome seemed to be the farthest one behind.

InuYasha groaned irritably, “Hurry up Kagome! Whats taking you so long anyway?” he asked slowly getting impatient.

“My feet are totally killing me; I wish I didn't have my bike with me.” Kagome replied as she place her bike on its stop so it wouldn't move so she could bend down to rub her feet. She then gave InuYasha a long hard glare.

Hey, don't look at me!” InuYasha said hastily, It's my fault!”

“Can you at least have a little sympathy for me?” Kagome pleaded. Her feet really were hurting them; it seemed as if they were going to fall off.

“Hmph…”

Kagome frowned at InuYasha, she knew that InuYasha could be selfish but… damn! He really hit the nail. But at these situations, Kagome figured, why get mad when you can get even? She then took a deep breath, closed her eyes and began to say, “InuYasha…” she hummed.

The way she had said that, InuYasha along with Miroku, Sango, Kirara and Shippo all already knew what she was going to say, “You're in for it now InuYasha…” Sango warned.

“Nice work dumb, dumb…” Shippo said.

“…SIT!” Kagome commanded.

With that, InuYasha's necklace began to glow as he had plunged into the hard ground with a loud thud. InuYasha groaned in pain with his face still in the sand.

“Hmph… serves you right,” Kagome said.

Miroku just sighed as he walked infront of InuYasha and kneeled to his level. “Whats getting you so up and add it InuYasha? Do you have any leads to find Naraku?” He asked.

“No,” InuYasha responded as he got and brushed the dirt of his shoulders, that's why I figured we should start searching for him now, to see if we could find any leads and to also see if Kagome can sense any jewel shards.”

“I see…” Miroku responded as he shifted his glance.

“Can you sense anything Kagome?” Sango asked, turning to face Kagome.

Kagome shook her head. “No, not even a little.”

“And I can't even get a whiff. Which is way we should start searching anyway incase I do get a whiff of his stench,” InuYasha said.

“Well isn't this a bother…” Shippo said, “we can't find him if we don't have any leads…”

Kirara purred in agreement. Everyone just sighed almost feeling like there was no hope in finding Naraku, it then quiet as everyone just stood there on the road pondering an idea on what to do.

“Well…” Kagome said breaking the silence, “I believe that this is a sign for taking a break.” Kagome said.

InuYasha turned to Kagome and raised her eyebrow, “what are you talking about? Are you going somewhere with this?” InuYasha asked.

“Kagome's right, we've been walking, and walking for days sleeping under the stars, not that that's bad or anything but... I think we should take a short little break so we have a lot more energy.” Miroku said.

“Now you're talking!” Kagome said enthusiastically.

It's not that bad of an idea, it really can't hurt InuYasha.” Sango said looking at him, “just one night, I think we all need a little rest from time to time.”

“We have no time to be taking short little vacations. We've already waited for Kagome to return. And now you want another day off? Naraku can be anywhere! We can't just keep getting these unnecessary breaks,” InuYasha protested.

“You call having to spend my days studying and failing most of my tests in my era a vacation?” Kagome asked angrily.

InuYasha looked at Kagome as he folded his arms “you tell me…” he responded looking the other way.

Before Kagome could tell InuYasha to `sit' again, Shippo quickly jumped on InuYasha's shoulder, “oh, stop being such a spoiled sport.” Shippo said.

InuYasha started to crack his knuckles as a threat towards Shippo if he dared to open his mouth again. Scared, Shippo jumped off InuYasha's and then onto Sango's shoulder.

“InuYasha please, just one more day off? Please? Besides we haven't really heard any rumors of Naraku…please?” Kagome begged.

“She does have a point InuYasha,” Miroku started again, “whats the point of fighting Naraku if we don't even have enough strength the fight him? If you ask me, that doesn't seem to make much sense, InuYasha,” he finished.

InuYasha grumbled for a little bit. “Fine, alright then! But only one day understand? Only one day! By the next morning we're going to search for Naraku alright? Even if we do have leads or don't we're still going to search, understand?

Kagome clapped her hands together out of joy, Oh, thank you InuYasha!” Kagome thanked.

“Whatever...” InuYasha mumbled.

“Let's try to find a nearby village then shall we?” Miroku suggested.

Well, I'm looking over there and I see there's smoke meaning that there could be a village.” Sango said pointing to the direction where she can see the smoke.

Miroku walked up infront of the gang and turned to them. “Leave it to me,” He said placing his hand on his chest, “I can handle us finding us a nice place to sleep with nice beds.” Miroku said with a charming gleam in his smile.

The rest of the gang then at that moment just gave each other glance as they all seemed rather skeptical with Miroku's promise.

“Something tells me that he's going to do that old `I can sense evil' crap on the villagers.” InuYasha said.

“Of course he will…” Shippo agreed.

“It's Miroku,” Kagome finished.

“Without a doubt, it is Miroku the Monk who thrives to deceive people so we can have beds to sleep in,” Sango remarked.

Miroku gave a hesitant laugh of what his friends said as he felt a sweat drop going down his head, knowing that they were right very right about him.

------

“There, I think that it's dried up.” Larina said looking at Tani's once drenched kimono with a smile. Larina had been busy outside her hut washing and drying her and her daughter's clothes. “Tani,” she called.

“Yes mother?” She asked as she came out of her hut, wiping her eyes; she must've just woken up from her sleep.

Larina presented the dried kimono to Tani.

Tani then at that moment smiled brightly at the sight of her kimono, “oh thank you!” She said taking her kimono and ran back into the house and got out of her nightgown into her nicely pink flower printed yellow kimono. Once Tani finished, she came out of the hut. “Mom,” she asked.
“Mmm?”
“Is it okay if I go and play?” Tani asked, I'll be back before lunch.”

“Okay, but stay away from those children. They're nothing but trouble.” Larina warned as she resumed back to washing her clothes and leaving them up to dry.

“Okay,” Tani said as she started to float up in the air, “I'll see you at lunch then mother, bye,”

“Bye,” Larina said.

With that, Tani vanished without a sight. The moment Larina's her daughter was gone, the priestess had then suddenly sensed something, something that didn't seem right.

“I sense a demon coming more like demons…”

-----

“Are you serious? There is actually a demon in this village?” Miroku asked in disbelief.

Miroku along with the rest of his friends had made it to the village that Sango had pointed out earlier. Once the villagers were in sight, Miroku went up to one of the villagers to begin his little tall tale about sense evil that was living in the village to only find that something evil demon was living in the village, according to the villagers.

The villagers nodded, mhm,” they agreed in unison.

“No mistake about it.” One of the villagers said.

Well… she's not as much as a demon; she's more of a half demon.” Another villager noted.

“Infact,” another one of the villagers began walking up to the Miroku; “if you're truly human,” he began, then why do you accompany demons such as these?” he finally asked eying InuYasha, Shippo, and Kirara.

“I can assure you none of these demons are evil.” Sango assured while she pet Kirara to calm her down.

The neko-manta purred in response.

Kagome then had an epiphany, “wait you just said half demon right?” Kagome asked.

The villagers nodded once again.

“Well Miroku?” Kagome and Sango asked in unison as the looked up at Miroku for a response.

Miroku thought for a moment and then paused to see if he actually was sensing anything evil, well I don't sense anything evil about it.” Miroku thought.

Huh, this is a whole lot of bull,” InuYasha remarked as he folded his arms in a small fit.

The villagers gasped as they looked at InuYasha with rage, how he, a half demon say such things to them!

Just what does this half demon do that's makes it evil?” InuYasha finally asked already getting offended by the discriminating idea that the villagers had about half demons.

“Well…she's got demon blood running within her veins, enough said.” Another villager replied rudely.

The other village men started to nod agreeing with what the man said.

Shippo frowned.

Kagome looked up at InuYasha to studies his face and by the looks of it, since he fists were already clenched with rage, it seemed as if he was going to go on a punching spree with the obnoxious, judgmental, rude villagers.

“Let me see this demon that is so evil, we'll see if it's the same evil demon that I sensed earlier.” Miroku said, still playing an act about the fictional demon that he said he had supposedly sensed earlier.

“But, wait a minute…” The main village man said, If there is an evil demon, wouldn't priestess Larina sense it?” One of the villagers asked.

“Hey, you're right.” The other villagers agreed.

“A priestess?” InuYasha and his friends all said in unison.

Shippo soon then jumped and landed on Kagome's shoulder to make a comment, “this village is completely unpredictable.”

“You can say that again.” Kagome responded.

Well it can't be Kikyo; I can't smell dead body and soil…” InuYasha thought.

“Meh, the woman is probably losing her touch because of the vile demon.” The villager said as he turned to the monk. “We'll show you were she is.”

“Follow us,” the villagers said.

----

Larina walked around the village and noticed a few people walking up to her then realized that the three looking demons must've been the demons that she sensed earlier. She had also noticed that there was a monk, a demon slayer and a younger girl who had unusual clothes with very strong spiritual powers. To what Larina could tell, this was an abnormal strange group of people. She had stopped walking as she had noticed one of the villagers walking up to her.

-----

“Priestess Larina,” the balding villagers began as he bowed his head along with the rest of the village men, this monk wishes to see Tani…” he finished while hesitating.

InuYasha had noticed that the villager's arrogant voice had then suddenly changed once he had spoken to the priestess; his voice all weak, shaky and somewhat hesitant. What happened to the tough guy act?” he thought.

“What business do you have with my daughter?” Larina asked, rudely.

Kagome's eyes shot wide as well as the rest of her friends, “your daughter?” Kagome asked still in shock.

“Yes, Tani is my daughter.” Larina responded.

Miroku chose his words carefully from the way Larina acted, if was obvious that she didn't want to be disturbed so he thought before he spoke, trying his best not to offend her in anyway, shape or form, “…she doesn't happen to be a half demon would she?” he asked.

“Do you have a problem with half demons?” Larina asked sounding a little more bitter in her voice then before. “You have a half demon as a companion and two other demons.” Larina's words seemed harsh.

“I didn't mean to offend you, I was just curious.” Miroku said as he continued to try be more careful with his words.

“If you most know; my daughter is a half demon.” She responded.

“So I see,” Miroku replied.

Larina then shot a look at the villagers.

The look that the villagers received from the priestess seemed cold and harsh. It hit them like a bullet as they felt a little more uncomfortable then they did before. “O-okay, p-p-priestess Larina we won't bother you anymore…” One of them said.

“W-w-we'll be on our way.” The other villager said as they all slowly starting to back away. They soon walked away in a fast pace.

InuYasha watched them walk away very quickly, “cowards” he thought as he continued to watch them go like startled bugs.

“Where are they going in such a hurry?” Shippo whispered in Sango's ear.

“Beats me…” Sango responded.

Larina sighed, shaking her head as she watched the villagers disappear from her sight. “It's such a shame,” she began, there is no convincing them that not all demons are evil.” She finished as she turned to the group which stood before her. “Do you people need a place to stay?” She asked as her bitter voice changed to a lighter one.

“Why yes, we'd be very in debt to you my lady…” Miroku said bowing his head, giving Larina the respect she deserved.

Larina smiled weakly as she turned to point at an empty hut, the monk and his friend's followed her direction, “there is an extra empty hut over there,” she began, Feel free to spend the night there if you wish.” Larina said.

“Thank you,” Kagome said as all of them bowed their head except InuYasha.

The priestess took notice that the man with the red kimono as she bowed her head back, the half demon didn't bow down to give her the respect. She seemed somewhat intrigued with his behavior.

Kagome lifted up her head and the followed Priestess Larina's gaze and saw InuYasha not showing any signs of respect what so every, “InuYasha,” she hissed.

InuYasha looked over to Kagome; he seemed annoyed, “what?” he asked not realizing what he was doing was disrespectful.

The fifteen year just gave InuYasha a cold hard look but InuYasha then chose to ignore it. In response, Kagome just shook her head at the half demon realizing that InuYasha will never learn.

InuYasha had then at that moment, immediately sensed something. He felt as if he was being watched over by something. He then looked up to only see that it was one of Naraku's poisonous insects. The insect noticed that InuYasha found out that it was watching them and started to flee. InuYasha then cracked his knuckles as he growled and started to chase after it.

Confused to what was going on in InuYasha's head, Kagome along with the rest of the group watched InuYasha, in surprise, running off as if he was chasing something that needed to be dealt with.

“InuYasha,” Kagome then called watching him go, “where are you going?” Kagome trailed off realizing that it was hopeless to as where he was going or what has eve gotten into him as she watched him chase after something.

Without a response, InuYasha continued to run, chasing after something.

Sango sighed and she along with Miroku watched InuYasha go off without a second thought, “that InuYasha can be so weird at times…” Sango commented still watching him go.

“You can say that again.” Miroku agreed, “This search for Naraku has seriously gotten to his head, which usually makes me worry.”

It makes me worried too.” Shippo agreed.

Kagome stood silent wondering what was going on in InuYasha's head.

Larina watched Kagome and then followed her curious glance at the strange half demon, InuYasha, huh? He too is a half demon… interesting...”
