InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Hauntings ❯ The Capturing ( Chapter 9 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Inuyasha opened his eyes; eyes that didn't exist…he flexed his fingers, now formed and fleshy where there was only energy before, everything had taken a physical form…Was he alive?!
His senses were overwhelmed. He could actually hear. With his ears, not his essence. He would smell the herbs and spices and strange liquids, the scented candles. He could feel the warmth of their flames. It was all so much…too much. He watched one of the flames turn completely blue, than a clear white, than slowly back to a yellowish orange. He tried to reach out, he longed to touch the flame, to once again feel the fire burn his skin. The glowing blue shackles around his wrists clanked and jingled together as he moved, tightening together and holding him in place.
He snarled at them and then sat back on his knees, the floor was cold, his wrists and ankles ached, his head felt light, and the incoherent murmuring of his captors annoyed him.
The cloaked figures stood around the circle he was sitting in. The spoke all at once, and so fast. It was nothing but noise to him, but once in a while he would pick up a word or two. “Evil Spirit” “Mind Raped” “Soul Stealer” Did they think he was evil? Was he evil? He remembered reading about some stupid ghost doctor when he was alive, the doctor claimed Ghosts didn't know what they did was wrong. That many times, the ghost did nothing wrong…he tried to clear his mind, his real, knowledgeable mind, with memories, instead of spirit. This place was making him think strangely…
He was cold…he wrapped his arms around himself, but that did little good, the chill was not blocked out. Then, one of the cloaked figures stepped through the fire barrier they had made from the candles with another black cloak draped over its arm. It walked over to him, he would have tried something, take a swing, try to escape, but the cold was too much, and the shackles held him fast. All he could do was growl, a feral animalistic growl that surprised him. But his stare did not waver.
The cloaked figure pulled down its hood to reveal a wrinkled face with large red eyes. She had a small, lipstick covered mouth that pulled back into a disgusting grin. “We are spirit Hunters” She said as she draped the thin black cloth over his nude body. “We captured you before you could hurt that girl…you were out of control and we stopped you.” Why was she explaining this to him?
“Most spirits don't remember what they did when they are given a physical form again.” This came from another figure in the background. “We gave you a form so that you may be cleansed.”
“It is nothing more than a clay doll in which you soul inhabits,” The woman continued. “Once we finish you will return to being a being of energy.”
“Where are…my cloths?” Inuyasha managed to say, speaking was very difficult, as if his mouth didn't want to work with his mind anymore”
“You learn to speak again more quickly than the others…that's interesting. But your cloths, the outfit you wore as a spirit, were a figment of your memories. The items are in your grave, when given a new body…you have nothing.”
“What do you mean when you say cleansed?” Inuyasha asked remembering what the other figure had said. “Are you one of those groups who claim to understand the dead? Do you honestly think YOU can help me?!” He didn't want these people around him; he didn't want to be saved, to move on. All he wanted was to be with Kagome…only Kagome…
His facial expression softened and a smile curved his lips at the thought of her…she was his now…
“That woman is living…she cannot be with you” It was the same voice as before…could that one read his mind? “Yes I can. The living cannot stay with the dead…its impossible.”
“Bulshit…I can d-what Iwant…” His tongue felt weird as he tried to speak, heavy, as if coated with honey or melted cheese.
“That is why you're to be cleansed; we cannot let you do what you want…” The hag was talking again, her large red eyes staring into his hazel ones. “You spirits are very useful, yet you waist your time trying to find or complete something in this world. If you don not need such anchors here, than you move on to the next life.”
“Now imagine” This was a new voice, “If someone had control of what kept spirits here…if someone could use “ghosts” for their own proposes.”
“C-cleansed…you me-ann yu wanto takway my reason?”
