It had been their fate, Kikyou repeated to herself the conclusion she drew less than fifty years ago. She softly recited her excuse, the phrases she formed to justify her actions as she hovered just outside the window of the teenager they sought. Her beloved floated silently beside her.
She did admit to the fact that death had come to them all too soon. The swift decent of it upon them leaving them questioning their actions. Still, the small moments of pure joy she experienced in his arms when he tried to shield her from the collapsing ceiling with his bare body as their world caved in and the electrical wires from the phone pole robbed them of their life were something she would never trade. Not even for another chance at life itself.
Though there had always been the guilt that plagued her. The thought that her simple escapade away from her former boyfriend had hurt him so dearly would not leave her. She had only meant to speak with the janitor; never had she expected to uncover these emotions that led to their intimate connection. Never had she thought that Inuyasha would go to search for her and find her in her new lover's arms. She had hurt him deeply, her oldest and dearest friend. She had caused him such a colossal pain that drove him to the point of such an insanity that he would take his anger and hurt out upon himself. That he would take his own life to hurt her back, and it did. He had robbed himself of a life. A life better spent finding a new love as she did. A life that should have been filled with the love of a woman like the one within the room before her.
She watched silently as the girl set her long clear glass of milk on her nightstand and brushed crumbs away from her lips. Kikyou recalled ditching class and sitting beneath bleachers at the school, sharing lunch and laughing with Inuyasha and Onigumo. Just the three of them, and when the event came that they were caught Onigumo had the passes and excuses ready to keep them from trouble. The teen slipped back beneath her covers and huddled into a ball clutching tightly to a brown stuffed mouse. She resembled a child with a stomach ache, so innocent in her pain that you wanted to rush to the cabinet to find any medicine that would ease her ailments.
Weather they had all played parts in a continuing chess game of destiny and death she did not know, she knew only that she was a chivalrous knight set back upon the board with a chance of redemption, a chance of victory…but her king was close to check, pawns were few, and just as few were the moves she had to gain the upper hand. All advances involving the placement of her queen, the most valuable piece in this game.

Well?! Ok, so not long at all, it's not even a page!!! But I've got stuff to do!
Its so incredibly difficult over here with my work, school, rent to pay, my bike has to get this new design etched into the side by my name, and my favorite helmet got cracked so I have to get a new one and have my name carved into that one two. Three years it lasted and now I must replace it. I'll get red this time and have my name in black, where my last one was black with red.
Anyway!!!^^ You'll find out Kikyou's and the now called Nuraku's intentions in the next chapter. Kikyou still refers to him as the janitor Onigumo in her memories but only acknowledges him as Nuraku when speaking to him know. You'll find out why soon.
