“Why I came here, I know not; where I shall go it is useless to inquire - in the midst of myriads of the living and the dead worlds, stars, systems, infinity, why should I be anxious about an atom?”

“Oh god! I'm going crazy!” The throbbing in Kagome's head grew more and more persistent, as though someone was hammering at her skull, from the inside, trying desperately to break from her. An idea entrapped inside her brain, urging her onward. If not, it would escape and go on alone. “I'm going crazy! I must be!”

How had her life become so bizarre? She thought back to the move, to the strange dreams she had every night. She felt like a yo-yo, up and down, up and down. Never getting any answers, always at the mercy of the hand controlling her string. She felt oddly relieved to find her cell had been in the hallway she dreamt of, but the switch was not in the direction she had blinded escaped to. Now she ran along in darkness.

What had happened back at the cell was still a mystery to her. One moment she was chained to the floor, the next she was free, her chains in pieces around her, only a sharp wind separating the two. Like an object had just come down in front of her. She didn't need but a second to gather her wits and lunge at the woman raising a sharp blade above the child. Where the blade had come from, she didn't know, she didn't know many things, but she felt certain of this…her future lay…at the end of this hall. Still, the closer she got to the large doors, the more nervous she felt…Both giddy and sick inside…

Then another feeling came over her. That every step she took brought her closer not only to her future, but to the past. Like the past and the future were all mixed up, thrown into a bowl with milk and eggs and baked into a cake, and here she was in the jellied present, lost between the two layers.

A/N: I was baking a chocolate cake with strawberry filling when I realized that it was a lot like the past and future, with a nice strawberry flavored present!! Yet who eats the cake one layer at a time? You don't get the top, and then get the jellied, then the last. This isn't an Oreo where you get the present then reflect on the past and start on the future. Kagome is stuck getting it all at once, with Inuyasha as a sweet ice-cream bonus! Yum.

….Shut up…I was on a sugar high, eating the frosting and stuff. As to why I baked a cake…I was starving and macaroni didn't sound too appealing right then. So I raided my own baking stash and threw myself a solo party with Inuyasha DVDs and scary ghost movies. So you see why I had to just sit down and express my jolly `ol evening.

By the way, how about a review sometime?! I realize I've gotten a bit spoiled. I mean, from the very beginning after I posted a new chapter I would have at least one review. I know it took me forever but I got the chapter up. Can't you at least yell at me for having you wait? This silence is killing me.
