Summary:
One night while he was out on patrol, Bankotsu heard a blood curdling scream and investigated. He came across a young woman being ganged up on by 3 big bandits. Bankotsu decided to intervene. Who is this mysterious woman? What is her purpose? Where does she come from? Why does she intrigue Bankotsu of the Shichi'nintai? How does she know Sango? When did she first meet Sesshomaru?Also as Koga and Inuyasha come into the picture, things really heat up! As Koga and Inuyasha come into the picture, things really heat up! Also what about When Sesshomaru finds her again? READ to find out! BANXOC
Opening Scene:
A woman had just located a nice hot spring and decided to take a nice soak; to soothe her aching muscles.
She set her giant boomerang against a tree. She also set aside her bow and arrows and various other weapons in a neat pile, with her extra clothes.
She had just begun undressing; when three big bandits jumped out and surrounded her.
The leader demanded, "Hand over the jewel shards, and you will be spared!"
She sighed heavily and inquired, "Can't a girl even take a bath in peace without being attacked anymore?"
The leader smirked and replied, "Of course, AFTER you give me the shards!"
She asked coolly, "What do you want with them?"
He scowled and shouted, "That's isn't your concern! Hand em over bitch! NOW!"
She shook her head and taunted, "Come and get them asshole!" and went into a fighting stance.
He laughed and said, "You heard her boys!" All three men attacked the woman.
The leader snatched the bottle from around her neck and shoved them into her pocket the sneered, "Since you had to go and fight us, me and my boys are gonna have some "fun" with you!" And they all attcked her.
She fought them off for over 20 minutes before the leader sliced her arm and she let out a blood curdling scream; as she dove at the leader and began fighting back harder
With Bankotsu...
Bankotsu was patrolling the area; when out of the blue he heard a blood curdling scream and went to investigate.
Bankotsu's POV
I heard a scream and went to investigate. I came across a woman; who was being attacked by three big bandits. I just stood there watching as the scene unfolded for a while.
I thought to myself 'Ya know, this woman isn't half bad, taking on three big men at once, Impressive! So are her moves! I wonder why she is alone tho?'
I continued to watch; as the bandits knocked her to the ground and she tried to fight them off!
Regular POV
The woman fought for all she was worth; but eventually the three big men over powered her.
The three men knocked her to the ground. Two of them held her down, as the third leaned over her and held a dagger against her throat.
She thrashed around trying to get them off. The one with the dagger ended up slicing her arms and legs a bit; trying to force her to cooperate.
She screamed in agony and growled angrily, "Three big men vs one woman? You stupid bunch of cowards! When I get up; I am so gonna beat the living hell out of you!"
Bankotsu's POV
Even pinned down, she was still fighting them.
I chuckled and thought to myself'So she's a spit fire as well, eh?'
I smiled and continued watching; as the woman battled the three bandits all at once.
I saw the two bandits hold her down, while thier leader began cutting her. I decided enough was enough!
Normally I am not the hero type, but this woman has intrigued me.
I thought 'Time for me to intervene!'
Regular POV
Bankotsu yelled, "HEY! Why don't you three try picking on someone your own size; instead of a mere woman!?"
The one with the dagger jumped up. Turning to face the intruder, he saw it was a young teenage boy.
He said, "Well now BOY, I guess I will just have to teach you not to mess in other people's business!"
Then he lunged to wards Bankotsu, with the dagger.
Bankotsu knocked the dagger out of the mans hand and quickly back flipped away.
Then the man became angry and drew his sword. He said, "A quick one eh? Well I will still get you BOY!"
Bankotsu smirked as he held up his Banryuu, then said snidely, "Come on then, big man!"
The man angrily charged Bankotsu with his sword. Bankotsu brought down his Banryuu; slicing the man in half.
The other two men angrily charged at Bankotsu with their swords drawn.
Bankotsu smirked and whipped his Banryuu around finishing them off quickly.
The woman got up and tried to stand; but started falling.
Bankotsu ran over and caught the woman. He demanded evenly, "And just what do you think your doing hm!?"
She said softly, "The leader...he took my jewel shards. They are in a small bottle."
Bankotsu propped her up against a tree. He demanded, "Stay put! I will get them."
She nodded, and leaned her head back against the tree.
Bankotsu walked over to the leader and searched his body.
He found a small bottle and took it out.
He held it up and saw 5 sacred jewel shards in it.
He put the bottle in his pocket. He walked over to her and demanded, "What are you doing with these!? Where did you get them from!?"
She sighed and said softly, "I have been collecting them for a while now. Speaking of which, why do you have jewel shards in your neck and both wrists?"
Bankotsu was shocked. He demanded, "How did you know that!?"
She smirked and replied, "I can see them plain as day, dummy."
Then she tried to stand up again.
Bankotsu caught her again as she passed out.
Bankotsu shook his head, sighed heavily, and mumbled "Stubborn woman!"
Bankotsu's POV
I thought to myself 'She is a stubborn spitfire, as well as an impressive fighter! However, She said she can see the jewel shards...Hm, I should take her to get those wounds looked at. She may just be useful after all!'
Regular POV
Bankotsu decided to take her back to the hideout.
He lifted her over his shoulder, then hefted his Banryuu over the other shoulder.
He began walking back to the hideout.
Chapter 1
AT the hideout...
Bankotsu walked in to his room.
He set his Banryuu by the door.
Then he sighed and gently laid the woman on his bed.
He walked back outside and hollered, "Jakotsu!"
Jakotsu came running up and asked, "Yes big brother?"
Bankotsu ordered, "Go and find Suikotsu! Tell him to come see me immediately!"
Jakotsu nodded and left to do as he had been told.
15 minutes later Suikotsu came up to Bankotsu and said, "You wished to see me big brother?"
Bankotsu replied, "Yes! In my room is a woman passed out on my bed she was badly injured just recently. I came across her while I was out on patrol. I want you to tend to her wounds now!"
Suikotsu nodded and answered, "As you wish big brother."
Then Suikotsu walked to Bankotsu's room, examined the woman . He then cleansed and bandaged all of her wounds.
An hour later...
Suikotsu walked back over to Bankotsu and informed him, "She has many cuts on her arms and legs but nothing to serious. She is mostly suffering from exhaustion. Let her rest a while and she will be fine."
Bankotsu nodded and dismissed Suikotsu.
Bankotsu sat outside twirling the small bottle of jewel shards in his fingers, wondering about the woman and where she came from.
After about 30 minutes he put the jar back into his pocket and decided to check on his brothers.
He went around checking on his 3 remaining brothers. Then ordered dinner to be prepared.
Jakotsu set about smoking some fish for everyone.
After they ate and night fell, everyone but Bankotsu settled into sleep for the night.
A few hours later...
Bankotsu sighed heavily and went to his room.
He saw the woman was still sleeping and sighed heavily.
He removed his shirt, but left his pants on. He climbed into the bed; gently moving the woman over to one side.
Then he settled in on his side, with his back to the woman and fell asleep.
A few hours later the woman sat up and screamed brokenly, "No!"
Bankotsu rolled over to face her and saw she was crying.
Sighing heavily he laid an arm around her, and said softly, "Shh! it's ok now, go back to sleep."
She cried into his chest, as he reluctantly held her.
After about 5 minutes, he gently laid back down; bringing her with him.
She buried her head onto his chest and just cried.
He held her gently, while rubbing his hand through her hair; in a soothing motion.
Bankotsu's POV
I thought to myself 'Well, guess this is what I get for trying to be nice! I wonder what brought all this on anyways? Man I sure hope she stops soon! This is making me feel really uncomfortable; then again a crying woman has always made me uncomfortable!'
Regular POV
Eventually she fell back asleep, and snuggled into his chest.
He sighed heavily. He fell asleep while laying on his back; with her head on his chest, and his arm around her.
Then next morning just after sunrise...
She woke up, feeling a hand cupped around one of her breast.
She jolted up and started to scream. Bankotsu rolled her under him; while pinning her to the bed under his body, with one hand covering her mouth.
Her eyes widened. Bankotsu demanded, "I am gonna let go now, but ONLY if you promise not to scream!" while staring into her eyes.
She nodded.
Bankotsu sighed and removed his hand.
She took a deep breath, then asked, "Who...who are you and where am I?"
Bankotsu sighed, sat up, and replied, "I found you being attacked last night."
She thought back to the previous night. She inquired softly, "You...you helped me last night!?"
Bankotsu nodded.
She asked, "Where am I? And how did I get here?"
Bankotsu sighed and answered, "You are at my place, and I brought you here."
She softly demanded, "Why?"
Bankotsu replied dryly, "Well, I couldn't exactly leave you out in the middle of the woods alone, defenseless, and injured; now then could I?"
She looked down. She noticed she was only in her under clothes and a long shirt.
She softly demanded, "What happened to my clothes?"
Bankotsu said, "I had a doctor friend of mine examine you and tend your wounds."
She blushed and said softly, "Thank you."
Bankotsu nodded.
She inquired, "You have jewel shards in you, why is that?"
Bankotsu demanded, "Tell me wench, how do you know that?"
She blanched and demanded, "Do NOT call me wench! I have a name ya know!"
Bankotsu chuckled and replied, "Well then wench, tell me your name."
She sighed and said, "It's Catherine! NOT WENCH! And my friends call me Kitty or Cathy."
Bankotsu said, "Well then Catherine, how is it you can see the jewel shards?"
Cathrine sighed and answered dryly, "I am a priestess! So of course I can see the jewel shards!"
Bankotsu questioned amused, "If you are a priestess, then why were you not dressed as one?"
Kitty sighed and said, "I don't go around advertising my being a priestess! I was in the kimono outfit because I prefer the freedom of movement for when I am fighting."
Bankotsu asked, "Why were you traveling alone!? Do you not have a brother or husband to protect you!?"
Kitty looked away and replied sadly, "No! My entire village was slaughtered by demons while I was at a neighboring village tending to the sick. When I returned I found the entire village slaughtered! I learned from a dying villager that a hoard of demons had attacked while I was gone under the orders of one particular evil being. I set out alone to search for the shards and the demons so I can kill them!"
Bankotsu scoffed and said, "A lone woman is going to defeat an evil hoard of demons eh?"
Kitty narrowed her eyes and said evenly, "I grew up in the village of the demon slayers! trust me I can handle a hoard of demons alone!"
Bankotsu was surprised. He retorted, "If you are a slayer, then why did you have such trouble with three simple bandits?"
Kitty replied, "Because they jumped me just before I was getting into the hot spring for a bath. I had discarded all my weapons and was in the middle of undressing; when they jumped me, demanding the jewel shards that were hanging around my neck."
Bankotsu said, "Hm I see, well I have already seen you in battle and I must say I am impressed. Especially for a woman! Tell you what, you wish to find the jewel shards and slay these demons right?"
She nodded.
He continued, "Then Why not join my brothers and me? We will hunt for the shards and demons together. No offense but a group can do a lot more damage than a lone woman."
Kitty considered this, then said, "Well I suppose it couldn't hurt. But I WILL kill the demon who ordered my village slaughtered without fail!"
Bankotsu nodded and asked, "By the way can you cook?"
She laughed and answered dryly, "Yeah I can cook. After 3 years of traveling alone I can definitely cook and hunt but I prefer not to hunt."
Bankotsu laughed and announced, "That settles it then! You will join us and be our cook! We can work together to avenge your village and collect the jewel shards."
Kitty shrugged and agreed, "Sure, why not."
Bankotsu put his shirt on and commanded, "Stay here until I get you some decent clothes."
Kitty nodded, then laid back down to rest. She replied "Fine by me, I am still tired anyways."
Bankotsu chuckle, then walked outside.
OUTSIDE....
Ban yelled, "Jakotsu!"
Jakotsu replied, "Yes big brother?"
Bankotsu answered, "I need you to go to town with me to buy our guest some new clothes."
Jakotsu started jumping around and inquired ,"Can I get a new kimono too, please big brother?"
Bankotsu laughed and replied dryly, "Yeah sure, why not?"
Jakotsu started jumping up and down; full of joy.
Bankotsu shook his head and they took off.
A few hours later they returned.
Bankotsu went into his room. He found Kitty siting up on his bed; with the sheet wrapped around her.
He brought the outfits in, threw them on the bed, and demanded, "Here, now get dressed and come outside!"
Kitty nodded. He went back outside and waited.
Kitty dressed in the new kimono outfit, then went outside.
Bankotsu's POV
I waited outside for her to dress.
A few minutes later, she walked out. I was NOT prepared for what I saw.
The Kimono outfit fit her like a second skin. It was showing off an ample amount of cleavage; as well as hugging all of her curves just right.
I stared at her and my jaw dropped.
I thought to myself, 'WOW! Could this really be the girl I held all night!? I had no clue she had such an incredible body under that over sized garb she wore last night,. Even this morning her chest didn't seem that impressive! Okay Ban, pull yourself together man, you can do it!'
I shook my head to clear it. I heard her ask, "I take it you approve then?"
I nodded.
Regular POV
Bankotsu saw her and his jaw dropped, Kitty smiled and said dryly, "I take it you approve then?"
Bankotsu shook his head; trying to pull his self together and nodded.
He took her by the elbow and lead her over to the others.
He introduced, "This is Suikotsu, hes the one who tended your wounds."
Kitty smiled and said, "Thank you Suikotsu."
Suikotsu nodded.
Bankotsu said, "This is Renkotsu, he's the smart one."
Kitty replied, "Nice to meet you."
Renkotsu grunted.
Bankotsu said, "Last but not least this is Jakotsu. He helped me choose outfits you might like."
Kitty replied, "Thank you Jakotsu. You have a good eye for fashion."
Jakotsu whined, "Big brother who is this wench? And why is she here?"
Kitty narrowed her eyes, then crossed her arms in front of her chest. She said through clenched teeth, "Do NOT call me wench!"
Jakotsu looked at her and retorted, "I will call you whatever I want! You stupid wench!"
Kitty instantly round house kicked Jakotsu; who went flying across the ground.
Kitty added angrily, "I warned you not to call me that! I have a name! It's CATHERINE! NOW USE IT!"
Bankotsu laughed.
Jakotsu got up angry. He declared, "Time to die wench!"
Kitty replied, "I don't think so!"
Jakotsu tackled Kitty. Kitty proceeded to beat the daylights out of Jakotsu.
Jakotsu pulled out his sword; saying angrily, "Lets see how you like my sword, bitch!"
Kitty grabbed a sword and responded, "Come on then!"
Bankotsu yelled, "ENOUGH!"
Jakotsu looked at him, while whining, "But big brother...!?"
Bankotsu narrowed his eyes and warned, "I said ENOUGH Jakotsu! Catherine here is our newest member.You will ALL treat her with the due respect! I recruited her last night myself! And if ANY of you attack her, you WILL answer to ME! UNDERSTOOD!?"
Jakotsu pouted and replied, "Yes big brother."
Bankotsu walked over to Kitty. He commanded, "Now, you will come with me and I will test your training."
Kitty nodded.
Bankotsu added "While we are sparing, the rest of you will go hunting for food, and skin it! Got it!?"
They all replied "Yes big brother!"
Bankotsu nodded and lead Kitty away by the elbow.
Kitty inquired, "Did you happen to get my weapons as well last night?"
Bankotsu replied, "I didn't know you had any."
Kitty nodded and added, "Of course! How else would I have survived these last 3 and 1/2 years on my own?"
Bankotsu nodded. They walked back to where she had been attacked last night.
Kitty found her big boomerang like Sango's Hiraikotsu, her bow, her arrows, and her sword. She collected them all.
Bankotsu raised a brow and said, "That's a lot of weapons for a lone woman."
Kitty replied happily "Yeah well a girl has got to be prepared for all occasions. Right?"
Bankotsu laughed and they walked back to the hideout.
Kitty put away her bow and arrows. She decided to show off her skills with her giant boomerang.
She changed into her slayers uniform, then grabbed her giant boomerang, and went out to meet Bankotsu.
Bankotsu had grabbed his Banryuu, and they walked out to the field together.
Out at the Field...
Bankotsu grinned as he lifted his sword into the air and spun it in his fingers.
'Perfect.' Thought Kitty.
Kitty took no time in taking two running steps to wards him and swinging her Hiraiku at him.
Bankotsu growled, he was about to swing his sword; but Kitty swung immediately.
“Stop showing off and fight me!” Kitty yelled as she swung Hiraiku again at him.
Bankotsu stepped on the swung Hiraiku and jumped off it, landing behind her.
Taking her turned back as an advantage, he slashed at her back and lept back wards; just in case she wanted to turn around and hit him with her large weapon again.
Kitty gasped as her shoulder bindings ripped in two; making Bankotsu grin.
Kitty felt the armor on her shoulder slide off.
Grinding her teeth together, Kitty heard Bankotsu leap farther away from her and stop 10 yards away.
“I’m sorry, that was an accident.” He snickered sarcastically.
“HIRAIKU!” Kitty stepped forward and let go of her boomerang as she swung it.
Bankotsu suddenly stop snickering as the boomerang came whistling to wards him quickly.
Dropping to the ground; he heard the boomerang fly past him.
“Hah, nice shot.” Bankotsu stood up and ran forward, to wards Kitty.
Kitty stood there, smug, thinking 'He must not know Boomerangs always come back.'
Looking behind Bankotsu; she saw her weapon making its way back to wards him.
Noticing she was looking behind him, he stop right in front of her; about only a few inches away from her face.
He smirked, at the facial expression she had.
Even though they were that close; the woman did not cave in.
She did well under pressure; while Bankotsu was a master at adding pressure.
“I’m not that stupid, woman.” He remarked; making Kitty’s smirk die.
Quickly turning around, Bankotsu placed his Banryuu in front of him vertically; much like Kitty had done the day before against the bandits.
Kitty heard the clash of his sword against her Hiraiku; as he held it back away from slicing him in half.
Kitty grabbed the sheath of her katana and flicked the sword’s hilt using her thumb.
Catching the handle with her other hand, she whipped out her katana. She held it against his back; the tip cutting through the cloth of his shirt.
“Surrender Bankotsu.” said Kitty
Bankotsu looked over his shoulder and smirked; a small struggle of holding back her boomerang evident on his face.
“I didn’t really want to hurt you, woman. But I guess there’s no other option.” He said.
Bankotsu quickly discarded his sword and jumped into the air.
Kitty’s eyes widened, as the Banryuu was pushed by her Hiraiku to wards her.
Quick thinking lead her to move her katana horizontally as one hand griped the handle and the other griped the sword’s sharper end.
Blood started to drip to the floor as well as stain her sword as the Banryuu continued to plow into her katana; Hiraiku pushing even harder behind it.
Kitty gritted her teeth even harder and shut her eyes tight as her hand started to throb.
The katana had already cut through her hand protector and was quickly drawing blood.
Kitty yelled out loud as she let go of her katana and dropped to the ground as fast as she could.
Her katana and his Banryuu made the shape of a cross as Hiraiku pushed their weapons into the tree behind her; successfully cutting through half of it.
“Nice maneuvering, woman. Or should I say copycat?” Bankotsu retorted, as he jumped from behind her to in front of her.
Kitty stood on her hands and knees, ignoring the pain that surged from her hand and up her arm.
She was panting deeply as sweat rolled off of her face.
"I have a name!" Kitty yelled, surprising Bankotsu.
"My name is Kitty, and this Kitty will defeat you!" she added.
Bankotsu's eyes narrowed.
"Shut up." he yelled.
“Ugh–” Kitty grunted, as Bankotsu kicked her right shoulder harshly; making her skid back wards earning a few more scratches from the forest floor.
Landing on her back, Bankotsu grabbed his Banryuu and jumped; landing in front of her.
Kitty braced herself as she sat up on her elbows; her knees bending to stand up.
“Nah uh uh…” Bankotsu stepped over her so that each foot was on either side of her hips.
Standing tall, he looked down at her over the bridge of his nose.
“Now surrender.” Bankotsu raised his Banryuu over his head and swung it twice in the shape of a X.
Kitty flicked her wrists, as her two hidden daggers ripped through the cloth of her slayer suit.
Holding her upper back up without her arms; she shoved her arms protectively in front of her face.
The sound of metal meeting metal was heard as the Banryuu scraped her daggers; as well as made deep cuts along her elbows.
Hissing in pain, Kitty swiped her arms horizontally as she cut Bankotsu’s legs.
“Bitch!” Bankotsu growled; as he backed up.
The bottom of his white fabric pants, were now bloodied.
Kitty stood up and grimaced as the pain increased through her arms and hand.
Now that his legs were hurt, she swept down and kicked his legs out from under him, making him fall on his back and the Banryuu fall from his grasp.
Kitty stepped over him, planting each foot on his muscled biceps as she dropped her katana and grabbed his Banryuu.
“You tried to kill me with my own weapons. Now it’s your turn.” Kitty growled, as she held his own Banryuu right over his neck; a drop of blood drawing from the puncture.
“You’re pretty good lookin’ for a slayer.” he said.
The sudden compliment distracted her and Bankotsu smirked.
"I knew that would work…" he smirked.
Bankotsu’s upper arms were being held by the woman; but his lower arms weren't, so bending his elbows upward; he grabbed Kitty’s ankles firmly and pushed her forward.
Kitty gasped as she fell on her stomach, her arms above her head holding Bankotsu’s Banryuu. While trying to get up on her elbows; she felt Bankotsu’s foot push her back down on the ground.
“Funny how you get distracted so easily.” he replied, smirking.
Now sitting on her lower back, he reached over her and grabbed his sword from her hands; as well as brought her arms back and crossed them behind her, careful not to cut himself on her daggers.
“I can finally stop and rest for a second.” Bankotsu joked, as he relaxed.
"And what a comfy little seat I have.” he added.
Kitty rolled her eyes. “Don’t get too comfortable, Bankotsu.” she said, as she tried to squirm away from his weight; but it was no use.
Bankotsu chuckled as he let go of Kitty; letting her get up on her hands, and she pushed him off of her back.
She re-hid her hidden daggers. Bankotsu said seriously, "Not half bad Catherine! I am duly impressed! And by a woman no less!"
He grinned, holding out his hand and helped her to her feet.
He pulled her into him. Looking into her eyes; he leaned down and brushed his lips lightly over hers.
She was completely taken by surprise. He ran his tongue over her lips, silently seeking permission to enter.
She sighed. Taking advantage, he shoved his tongue into her mouth. He began lightly exploring her mouth.
He also wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her to him.
She sighed, wrapped her arms around his neck, and leaned into his kiss. She began experimentally kissing him back.
He slanted his mouth fully over hers and changed the kiss from exploring and gentle to demanding and passionate.
She kissed him back just as passionately.
He broke the kiss and lightly pushed her away from him.
She looked at him with wide eyes and a shocked expression on her face. She asked softly, "Why did you just kiss me like that?"
He smirked and answered, "Curiosity."
She replied evenly, "Curiosity huh?"
He smirked wider and confessed, "I have been wondering what it would be like to kiss you since I first saw you! Now I know!"
She whispered, "That was my first real kiss..."
Bankotsu grinned and retorted smugly, "Lucky for you then babe! Cause I have been told I am a GREAT kisser!"
She looked at him and said angrily, "Well next time, I suggest you take your curiosity else where. You big jerk!"
Then she walked over to her Hiraiku. She lifted it with her good hand, and stormed to wards camp.
He hefted his Banryuu over his shoulder. Grinning, he followed her back to camp.
Back at camp...
Back at camp they put their weapons away and sat and talked a bit.
As they talked; Kitty tended to Bankotsu's wounds, and he to hers.
Bankotsu complimented impressed, "You are the only other person I have ever met who can even lift my Banryuu!"
Kitty smiled and replied, "Well it was a little heavy, but I managed it!"
Laughing, Bankotsu added seriously, "That you did! And that in itself makes you worthy of becoming one of us!"
Kitty questioned softly, "So what do you call yourself anyways? You have already stolen my first real kiss and I don't even know your name!"
Bankotsu smirked and answered proudly, "I am Bankotsu! Leader of the band of seven!"
Kitty gasped and said, "But you were all rumored to be dead over 50 years ago...how is that possible!?"
Bankotsu said, "Suffice it to say we were brought back by the power of the sacred jewel."
Kitty nodded and said, "I see, so that's why you all have shards inside you."
Bankotsu said curiously, "So tell me Catherine, Just how long have you been on your own?"
Kitty sighed and answered, "A little over 3 and 1/2 years now..."
Bankotsu nodded and informed, "Well you aren't alone anymore! Now you have us! My brothers and I are like a family. And now you are one of us!"
Kitty inquired seriously, "Tell me Bankotsu, why did a mercenary like you, save a woman like me? I thought mercenaries only killed when they were paid too."
Bankotsu replied evenly, "You needed some help and I was there. Besides, cowards like those three make me sick to my stomach!"
Kitty nodded and suggested evenly, "If you wish me to, I will stay with you and your brothers, but I can not kill innocent people. I will be your cook and locate the shards, but I will not kill needlessly!"
Bankotsu nodded and answered, "Unfortunate, but you being a priestess and all I can understand why. Stay with us!"
Kitty nodded and said, "Thank you for understanding!" and Bankotsu nodded.
Bankotsu informed, "You will still have to prove yourself to the others, but know you are under my protection! Speaking of which, until you have proven yourself to the others for your own protection, you will continue to sleep in my bed."
Kitty gasped loudly.
Bankotsu continued deadly serious, "It has been sometime since ANY of us have been with a woman,. I don't want them attacking you or anything."
Kitty was not happy about this, but realized he had a valid point and nodded; after all she trusted Bankotsu.
The others came back carrying 4 rabbits already skinned.
Bankotsu nodded and Kitty took the rabbits, put them in a pot of water, added some herbs to the water and let it cook.
Bankotsu announced, "Alright listen up! As I said earlier Catherine here is our newest member. She has proven herself worthy to me and she can also see the jewel shards, so she has joined us! Now I realize she still has to prove herself to you guys; but NO ONE will be allowed to mess with her WITHOUT answering to me! UNDERSTOOD!?"
The others nodded and replied, "Yes big brother!"
Kitty suggested, "Bankotsu, I have an idea... Would you kindly bring out Banryuu?"
Bankotsu, guessing what she had in mind; nodded and retrieved his Banryuu.
He set it down, walked over to Kitty, nodded, then encouraged, "Very well, go ahead."
Kitty nodded, walked over to Banryuu, and lifted it easily.
She then walked over to Bankotsu and handed him his baby; as the other three's jaws all dropped.
Jakotsu stuttered "But...But how is that possible!? Only big brother Bankotsu has EVER been able to lift Banryuu!"
Kitty smirked and informed proudly, "I grew up as a demon slayer!"
Renkotsu questioned confused, "But how can you be a demon slayer and a priestess at the same time!?"
Kitty replied sadly, "I was trained as a demon slayer from childhood, but one day my best friend's father who was also the village headman, saw me use some purifying powers and decided I should go to another village and be trained as a priestess instead. He sent me away for training and I never got to return. So now, I am both."
Everyone nodded.
Bankotsu said evenly, "I assume she has now proven herself worthy to you three as well?"
Jakotsu said, "I may not like it, but I am impressed! So yes."
Renkotsu sneered, "She has proven herself strong! That is all."
Suikotsu added, "She has proven herself a good fighter as well! Or have you already forgotten her fight with Jakotsu?"
Renkotsu rebutted, "So she is strong like big brother, faster and smarter than Jakotsu, and a priestess as well. I suppose she will do."
Bankotsu sighed and proclaimed, "Good then that settles it! And know this, she is under MY protection at ALL times! And she will continue sleeping in my bed!"
Renkotsu snickered and implied, "I see, you wish her for self then, eh big brother!?"
Bankotsu became angry and retorted, "I only wish to insure her safety from all of you! She has proven herself worthy of being one of us! No doubt about that! But we are all men! And could all easily find her a temptation! Her being the only woman here and all! For her safety alone, she will continue to sleep in my bed! I warn you all now; you will have to get through me to get to her at night! And Renkotsu, I strongly suggest you do NOT push this issue any further!" and everyone nodded.
Kitty sighed, got up and doled out the stew. Everyone ate it and agreed, that she knew how to cook.
Kitty smiled and volunteered evenly, "I know how to do many things! Cooking is just a skill I learned in order to survive."
Bankotsu grinned and responded seriously, "Well you are our new cook! This is the best stew I have ever tasted!" The others all nodded their agreement.
Kitty said "Now that we are all like family, you may call me Kitty or Cathy if you so choose. Actually I would prefer if you all used one of those two names."
Everyone nodded.
Kitty nodded. Then she decided to head off to the hot springs, to soak her sore muscles and take the bath; that was so rudely interrupted days ago.
She also decided to wash her hair as well.
Later that night...
Everyone else had gone off to bed and Kitty and Bankotsu were still up talking.
"So why not just find a man and settle down instead then?" asked Bankotsu.
Kitty sighed heavily and responded, "Because, I don't want to get used to another village and have it become slaughtered as well! Plus I am a slayer and a priestess, I have to be active in the out doors or I become easily bored and unhappy! I am happiest fighting the demons and traveling around."
Bankotsu nodded and said, "I see. So why not marry a traveling man then?"
Kitty became aggravated and demanded, "What is it with men anyways? They think if a woman doesn't have a man protecting her; she can't be happy!? UGH!"
Bankotsu chuckled and informed, "Well, I DID end up saving you the other night."
Kitty said evenly, "That was an unfair fight and you know it! Plus they jumped me at one of my most vulnerable times! I was just getting ready to enter the hot springs!"
Bankotsu chuckled and mocked, "Excuses, excuses."
Kitty glared at him and retorted, "Tell me, why aren't YOU married then?"
Bankotsu sighed and responded evenly, "Being a mercenary isn't exactly the way to raise kids. Besides I have yet to find a woman who I am even attracted to in that way, yet alone one who can even try to keep up with me!"
Kitty said mockingly, "Excuses, excuses."
Bankotsu smirked and replied amused, "Touche!"
Kitty smirked as well.
Then she proclaimed, "If and when I do decide to settle down, then and ONLY then will I even worry about it!"
Bankotsu sighed and said, "It's getting late, you better get some rest."
Kitty asked, "And what about you?"
Bankotsu replied evenly, "I am fine, I will stay out here a while longer and enjoy the night air."
Kitty nodded and sighed.
Bankotsu warned playfully, "Now don't force me to make it an order."
Kitty smiled and retorted laughing, "As if I am one to even follow orders."
Bankotsu smirked, got up, stood in front of her, and said, "Now scoot!" as he playfully slapped her on her butt.
She turned around and angrily warned, "Hands to yourself pal! I am too tired to do so this time so I won't kick your butt this one time instead I will let it slide, but next time you won't be so lucky!"
Bankotsu chuckled and said, "Go on feisty! Off to bed! before I have to end up carrying you again."
She stomped off grumbling about "Bossy, typical men."
Bankotsu watched her leave. Chuckling, he shook his head, and mumbled about "Stubborn, feisty women."
Kitty changed into her Kimono outfit and climbed into bed and she was asleep with in minutes.
Bankotsu's POV
After sending that stubborn feisty woman off to bed.
I stayed outside, thinking over everything that had happened today.
Mostly I thought about what an impressive fighter she was and that kiss.
I thought to myself 'Why can't I seem to get that kiss out of my head? After all it was just a kiss right? Nothing new there. That woman is gonna drive me nuts! Her feisty nature will drive me nuts for certain! So why do I put up with it? Sure we could really benefit from being able to locate the shards and her cooking, but is it worth all the hassle?'
I shook my head, sighed heavily, and walked into my room.
Regular POV
An hour later Bankotsu entered the room. He took off his shirt, leaving only his pants on, and climbed into bed.
He laid there staring at the ceiling. He felt Kitty roll over and snuggle into his chest.
She mumbled about "Bossy, typical men."
Bankotsu chuckled, rolling onto his side. He curled his self around her.
He fell asleep only minutes later.
The next day...
Bankotsu awoke and realized Kitty was still cuddled to his chest. He looked at her and smiled.
He gently moved some of her hair, so he could get a better look at her face.
She sighed and rolled over facing away from him. He chuckled, then got out of bed, and put his shirt on.
Kitty woke up and stretched.
Bankotsu said, "Morning."
Kitty smiled and said, "Good morning."
She got out of bed and continued to stretch a few more minutes.
Bankotsu watched her stretch and said evenly, "After breakfast, get your katana and meet me outside."
She smiled and nodded, then they both walk outside.
Jakotsu had already started smoking some fish for everyone.
Kitty walked over, smiled, and greeted happily, "Morning Jakotsu."
Jakotsu said happily, "Morning little sister."
Kitty sat down by Jakotsu and offered, "Ya know, if you want, later I can work on teaching you to read and write some."
Jakotsu brightened and said, "Okay little sister."
Kitty nodded and everyone ate.
Then Kitty grabbed her katana and went to meet Bankotsu, as she had been instructed.

Opening Scene:
A woman had just located a nice hot spring and decided to take a nice soak; to soothe her aching muscles.
She set her giant boomerang against a tree. She also set aside her bow and arrows and various other weapons in a neat pile, with her extra clothes.
She had just begun undressing; when three big bandits jumped out and surrounded her.
The leader demanded, "Hand over the jewel shards, and you will be spared!"
She sighed heavily and inquired, "Can't a girl even take a bath in peace without being attacked anymore?"
The leader smirked and replied, "Of course, AFTER you give me the shards!"
She asked coolly, "What do you want with them?"
He scowled and shouted, "That's isn't your concern! Hand em over bitch! NOW!"
She shook her head and taunted, "Come and get them asshole!" and went into a fighting stance.
He laughed and said, "You heard her boys!" All three men attacked the woman.
The leader snatched the bottle from around her neck and shoved them into her pocket the sneered, "Since you had to go and fight us, me and my boys are gonna have some "fun" with you!" And they all attcked her.
She fought them off for over 20 minutes before the leader sliced her arm and she let out a blood curdling scream; as she dove at the leader and began fighting back harder
With Bankotsu...
Bankotsu was patrolling the area; when out of the blue he heard a blood curdling scream and went to investigate.
Bankotsu's POV
I heard a scream and went to investigate. I came across a woman; who was being attacked by three big bandits. I just stood there watching as the scene unfolded for a while.
I thought to myself 'Ya know, this woman isn't half bad, taking on three big men at once, Impressive! So are her moves! I wonder why she is alone tho?'
I continued to watch; as the bandits knocked her to the ground and she tried to fight them off!
Regular POV
The woman fought for all she was worth; but eventually the three big men over powered her.
The three men knocked her to the ground. Two of them held her down, as the third leaned over her and held a dagger against her throat.
She thrashed around trying to get them off. The one with the dagger ended up slicing her arms and legs a bit; trying to force her to cooperate.
She screamed in agony and growled angrily, "Three big men vs one woman? You stupid bunch of cowards! When I get up; I am so gonna beat the living hell out of you!"
Bankotsu's POV
Even pinned down, she was still fighting them.
I chuckled and thought to myself'So she's a spit fire as well, eh?'
I smiled and continued watching; as the woman battled the three bandits all at once.
I saw the two bandits hold her down, while thier leader began cutting her. I decided enough was enough!
Normally I am not the hero type, but this woman has intrigued me.
I thought 'Time for me to intervene!'
Regular POV
Bankotsu yelled, "HEY! Why don't you three try picking on someone your own size; instead of a mere woman!?"
The one with the dagger jumped up. Turning to face the intruder, he saw it was a young teenage boy.
He said, "Well now BOY, I guess I will just have to teach you not to mess in other people's business!"
Then he lunged to wards Bankotsu, with the dagger.
Bankotsu knocked the dagger out of the mans hand and quickly back flipped away.
Then the man became angry and drew his sword. He said, "A quick one eh? Well I will still get you BOY!"
Bankotsu smirked as he held up his Banryuu, then said snidely, "Come on then, big man!"
The man angrily charged Bankotsu with his sword. Bankotsu brought down his Banryuu; slicing the man in half.
The other two men angrily charged at Bankotsu with their swords drawn.
Bankotsu smirked and whipped his Banryuu around finishing them off quickly.
The woman got up and tried to stand; but started falling.
Bankotsu ran over and caught the woman. He demanded evenly, "And just what do you think your doing hm!?"
She said softly, "The leader...he took my jewel shards. They are in a small bottle."
Bankotsu propped her up against a tree. He demanded, "Stay put! I will get them."
She nodded, and leaned her head back against the tree.
Bankotsu walked over to the leader and searched his body.
He found a small bottle and took it out.
He held it up and saw 5 sacred jewel shards in it.
He put the bottle in his pocket. He walked over to her and demanded, "What are you doing with these!? Where did you get them from!?"
She sighed and said softly, "I have been collecting them for a while now. Speaking of which, why do you have jewel shards in your neck and both wrists?"
Bankotsu was shocked. He demanded, "How did you know that!?"
She smirked and replied, "I can see them plain as day, dummy."
Then she tried to stand up again.
Bankotsu caught her again as she passed out.
Bankotsu shook his head, sighed heavily, and mumbled "Stubborn woman!"
Bankotsu's POV
I thought to myself 'She is a stubborn spitfire, as well as an impressive fighter! However, She said she can see the jewel shards...Hm, I should take her to get those wounds looked at. She may just be useful after all!'
Regular POV
Bankotsu decided to take her back to the hideout.
He lifted her over his shoulder, then hefted his Banryuu over the other shoulder.
He began walking back to the hideout.
Chapter 1
AT the hideout...
Bankotsu walked in to his room.
He set his Banryuu by the door.
Then he sighed and gently laid the woman on his bed.
He walked back outside and hollered, "Jakotsu!"
Jakotsu came running up and asked, "Yes big brother?"
Bankotsu ordered, "Go and find Suikotsu! Tell him to come see me immediately!"
Jakotsu nodded and left to do as he had been told.
15 minutes later Suikotsu came up to Bankotsu and said, "You wished to see me big brother?"
Bankotsu replied, "Yes! In my room is a woman passed out on my bed she was badly injured just recently. I came across her while I was out on patrol. I want you to tend to her wounds now!"
Suikotsu nodded and answered, "As you wish big brother."
Then Suikotsu walked to Bankotsu's room, examined the woman . He then cleansed and bandaged all of her wounds.
An hour later...
Suikotsu walked back over to Bankotsu and informed him, "She has many cuts on her arms and legs but nothing to serious. She is mostly suffering from exhaustion. Let her rest a while and she will be fine."
Bankotsu nodded and dismissed Suikotsu.
Bankotsu sat outside twirling the small bottle of jewel shards in his fingers, wondering about the woman and where she came from.
After about 30 minutes he put the jar back into his pocket and decided to check on his brothers.
He went around checking on his 3 remaining brothers. Then ordered dinner to be prepared.
Jakotsu set about smoking some fish for everyone.
After they ate and night fell, everyone but Bankotsu settled into sleep for the night.
A few hours later...
Bankotsu sighed heavily and went to his room.
He saw the woman was still sleeping and sighed heavily.
He removed his shirt, but left his pants on. He climbed into the bed; gently moving the woman over to one side.
Then he settled in on his side, with his back to the woman and fell asleep.
A few hours later the woman sat up and screamed brokenly, "No!"
Bankotsu rolled over to face her and saw she was crying.
Sighing heavily he laid an arm around her, and said softly, "Shh! it's ok now, go back to sleep."
She cried into his chest, as he reluctantly held her.
After about 5 minutes, he gently laid back down; bringing her with him.
She buried her head onto his chest and just cried.
He held her gently, while rubbing his hand through her hair; in a soothing motion.
Bankotsu's POV
I thought to myself 'Well, guess this is what I get for trying to be nice! I wonder what brought all this on anyways? Man I sure hope she stops soon! This is making me feel really uncomfortable; then again a crying woman has always made me uncomfortable!'
Regular POV
Eventually she fell back asleep, and snuggled into his chest.
He sighed heavily. He fell asleep while laying on his back; with her head on his chest, and his arm around her.
Then next morning just after sunrise...
She woke up, feeling a hand cupped around one of her breast.
She jolted up and started to scream. Bankotsu rolled her under him; while pinning her to the bed under his body, with one hand covering her mouth.
Her eyes widened. Bankotsu demanded, "I am gonna let go now, but ONLY if you promise not to scream!" while staring into her eyes.
She nodded.
Bankotsu sighed and removed his hand.
She took a deep breath, then asked, "Who...who are you and where am I?"
Bankotsu sighed, sat up, and replied, "I found you being attacked last night."
She thought back to the previous night. She inquired softly, "You...you helped me last night!?"
Bankotsu nodded.
She asked, "Where am I? And how did I get here?"
Bankotsu sighed and answered, "You are at my place, and I brought you here."
She softly demanded, "Why?"
Bankotsu replied dryly, "Well, I couldn't exactly leave you out in the middle of the woods alone, defenseless, and injured; now then could I?"
She looked down. She noticed she was only in her under clothes and a long shirt.
She softly demanded, "What happened to my clothes?"
Bankotsu said, "I had a doctor friend of mine examine you and tend your wounds."
She blushed and said softly, "Thank you."
Bankotsu nodded.
She inquired, "You have jewel shards in you, why is that?"
Bankotsu demanded, "Tell me wench, how do you know that?"
She blanched and demanded, "Do NOT call me wench! I have a name ya know!"
Bankotsu chuckled and replied, "Well then wench, tell me your name."
She sighed and said, "It's Catherine! NOT WENCH! And my friends call me Kitty or Cathy."
Bankotsu said, "Well then Catherine, how is it you can see the jewel shards?"
Cathrine sighed and answered dryly, "I am a priestess! So of course I can see the jewel shards!"
Bankotsu questioned amused, "If you are a priestess, then why were you not dressed as one?"
Kitty sighed and said, "I don't go around advertising my being a priestess! I was in the kimono outfit because I prefer the freedom of movement for when I am fighting."
Bankotsu asked, "Why were you traveling alone!? Do you not have a brother or husband to protect you!?"
Kitty looked away and replied sadly, "No! My entire village was slaughtered by demons while I was at a neighboring village tending to the sick. When I returned I found the entire village slaughtered! I learned from a dying villager that a hoard of demons had attacked while I was gone under the orders of one particular evil being. I set out alone to search for the shards and the demons so I can kill them!"
Bankotsu scoffed and said, "A lone woman is going to defeat an evil hoard of demons eh?"
Kitty narrowed her eyes and said evenly, "I grew up in the village of the demon slayers! trust me I can handle a hoard of demons alone!"
Bankotsu was surprised. He retorted, "If you are a slayer, then why did you have such trouble with three simple bandits?"
Kitty replied, "Because they jumped me just before I was getting into the hot spring for a bath. I had discarded all my weapons and was in the middle of undressing; when they jumped me, demanding the jewel shards that were hanging around my neck."
Bankotsu said, "Hm I see, well I have already seen you in battle and I must say I am impressed. Especially for a woman! Tell you what, you wish to find the jewel shards and slay these demons right?"
She nodded.
He continued, "Then Why not join my brothers and me? We will hunt for the shards and demons together. No offense but a group can do a lot more damage than a lone woman."
Kitty considered this, then said, "Well I suppose it couldn't hurt. But I WILL kill the demon who ordered my village slaughtered without fail!"
Bankotsu nodded and asked, "By the way can you cook?"
She laughed and answered dryly, "Yeah I can cook. After 3 years of traveling alone I can definitely cook and hunt but I prefer not to hunt."
Bankotsu laughed and announced, "That settles it then! You will join us and be our cook! We can work together to avenge your village and collect the jewel shards."
Kitty shrugged and agreed, "Sure, why not."
Bankotsu put his shirt on and commanded, "Stay here until I get you some decent clothes."
Kitty nodded, then laid back down to rest. She replied "Fine by me, I am still tired anyways."
Bankotsu chuckle, then walked outside.
OUTSIDE....
Ban yelled, "Jakotsu!"
Jakotsu replied, "Yes big brother?"
Bankotsu answered, "I need you to go to town with me to buy our guest some new clothes."
Jakotsu started jumping around and inquired ,"Can I get a new kimono too, please big brother?"
Bankotsu laughed and replied dryly, "Yeah sure, why not?"
Jakotsu started jumping up and down; full of joy.
Bankotsu shook his head and they took off.
A few hours later they returned.
Bankotsu went into his room. He found Kitty siting up on his bed; with the sheet wrapped around her.
He brought the outfits in, threw them on the bed, and demanded, "Here, now get dressed and come outside!"
Kitty nodded. He went back outside and waited.
Kitty dressed in the new kimono outfit, then went outside.
Bankotsu's POV
I waited outside for her to dress.
A few minutes later, she walked out. I was NOT prepared for what I saw.
The Kimono outfit fit her like a second skin. It was showing off an ample amount of cleavage; as well as hugging all of her curves just right.
I stared at her and my jaw dropped.
I thought to myself, 'WOW! Could this really be the girl I held all night!? I had no clue she had such an incredible body under that over sized garb she wore last night,. Even this morning her chest didn't seem that impressive! Okay Ban, pull yourself together man, you can do it!'
I shook my head to clear it. I heard her ask, "I take it you approve then?"
I nodded.
Regular POV
Bankotsu saw her and his jaw dropped, Kitty smiled and said dryly, "I take it you approve then?"
Bankotsu shook his head; trying to pull his self together and nodded.
He took her by the elbow and lead her over to the others.
He introduced, "This is Suikotsu, hes the one who tended your wounds."
Kitty smiled and said, "Thank you Suikotsu."
Suikotsu nodded.
Bankotsu said, "This is Renkotsu, he's the smart one."
Kitty replied, "Nice to meet you."
Renkotsu grunted.
Bankotsu said, "Last but not least this is Jakotsu. He helped me choose outfits you might like."
Kitty replied, "Thank you Jakotsu. You have a good eye for fashion."
Jakotsu whined, "Big brother who is this wench? And why is she here?"
Kitty narrowed her eyes, then crossed her arms in front of her chest. She said through clenched teeth, "Do NOT call me wench!"
Jakotsu looked at her and retorted, "I will call you whatever I want! You stupid wench!"
Kitty instantly round house kicked Jakotsu; who went flying across the ground.
Kitty added angrily, "I warned you not to call me that! I have a name! It's CATHERINE! NOW USE IT!"
Bankotsu laughed.
Jakotsu got up angry. He declared, "Time to die wench!"
Kitty replied, "I don't think so!"
Jakotsu tackled Kitty. Kitty proceeded to beat the daylights out of Jakotsu.
Jakotsu pulled out his sword; saying angrily, "Lets see how you like my sword, bitch!"
Kitty grabbed a sword and responded, "Come on then!"
Bankotsu yelled, "ENOUGH!"
Jakotsu looked at him, while whining, "But big brother...!?"
Bankotsu narrowed his eyes and warned, "I said ENOUGH Jakotsu! Catherine here is our newest member.You will ALL treat her with the due respect! I recruited her last night myself! And if ANY of you attack her, you WILL answer to ME! UNDERSTOOD!?"
Jakotsu pouted and replied, "Yes big brother."
Bankotsu walked over to Kitty. He commanded, "Now, you will come with me and I will test your training."
Kitty nodded.
Bankotsu added "While we are sparing, the rest of you will go hunting for food, and skin it! Got it!?"
They all replied "Yes big brother!"
Bankotsu nodded and lead Kitty away by the elbow.
Kitty inquired, "Did you happen to get my weapons as well last night?"
Bankotsu replied, "I didn't know you had any."
Kitty nodded and added, "Of course! How else would I have survived these last 3 and 1/2 years on my own?"
Bankotsu nodded. They walked back to where she had been attacked last night.
Kitty found her big boomerang like Sango's Hiraikotsu, her bow, her arrows, and her sword. She collected them all.
Bankotsu raised a brow and said, "That's a lot of weapons for a lone woman."
Kitty replied happily "Yeah well a girl has got to be prepared for all occasions. Right?"
Bankotsu laughed and they walked back to the hideout.
Kitty put away her bow and arrows. She decided to show off her skills with her giant boomerang.
She changed into her slayers uniform, then grabbed her giant boomerang, and went out to meet Bankotsu.
Bankotsu had grabbed his Banryuu, and they walked out to the field together.
Out at the Field...
Bankotsu grinned as he lifted his sword into the air and spun it in his fingers.
'Perfect.' Thought Kitty.
Kitty took no time in taking two running steps to wards him and swinging her Hiraiku at him.
Bankotsu growled, he was about to swing his sword; but Kitty swung immediately.
“Stop showing off and fight me!” Kitty yelled as she swung Hiraiku again at him.
Bankotsu stepped on the swung Hiraiku and jumped off it, landing behind her.
Taking her turned back as an advantage, he slashed at her back and lept back wards; just in case she wanted to turn around and hit him with her large weapon again.
Kitty gasped as her shoulder bindings ripped in two; making Bankotsu grin.
Kitty felt the armor on her shoulder slide off.
Grinding her teeth together, Kitty heard Bankotsu leap farther away from her and stop 10 yards away.
“I’m sorry, that was an accident.” He snickered sarcastically.
“HIRAIKU!” Kitty stepped forward and let go of her boomerang as she swung it.
Bankotsu suddenly stop snickering as the boomerang came whistling to wards him quickly.
Dropping to the ground; he heard the boomerang fly past him.
“Hah, nice shot.” Bankotsu stood up and ran forward, to wards Kitty.
Kitty stood there, smug, thinking 'He must not know Boomerangs always come back.'
Looking behind Bankotsu; she saw her weapon making its way back to wards him.
Noticing she was looking behind him, he stop right in front of her; about only a few inches away from her face.
He smirked, at the facial expression she had.
Even though they were that close; the woman did not cave in.
She did well under pressure; while Bankotsu was a master at adding pressure.
“I’m not that stupid, woman.” He remarked; making Kitty’s smirk die.
Quickly turning around, Bankotsu placed his Banryuu in front of him vertically; much like Kitty had done the day before against the bandits.
Kitty heard the clash of his sword against her Hiraiku; as he held it back away from slicing him in half.
Kitty grabbed the sheath of her katana and flicked the sword’s hilt using her thumb.
Catching the handle with her other hand, she whipped out her katana. She held it against his back; the tip cutting through the cloth of his shirt.
“Surrender Bankotsu.” said Kitty
Bankotsu looked over his shoulder and smirked; a small struggle of holding back her boomerang evident on his face.
“I didn’t really want to hurt you, woman. But I guess there’s no other option.” He said.
Bankotsu quickly discarded his sword and jumped into the air.
Kitty’s eyes widened, as the Banryuu was pushed by her Hiraiku to wards her.
Quick thinking lead her to move her katana horizontally as one hand griped the handle and the other griped the sword’s sharper end.
Blood started to drip to the floor as well as stain her sword as the Banryuu continued to plow into her katana; Hiraiku pushing even harder behind it.
Kitty gritted her teeth even harder and shut her eyes tight as her hand started to throb.
The katana had already cut through her hand protector and was quickly drawing blood.
Kitty yelled out loud as she let go of her katana and dropped to the ground as fast as she could.
Her katana and his Banryuu made the shape of a cross as Hiraiku pushed their weapons into the tree behind her; successfully cutting through half of it.
“Nice maneuvering, woman. Or should I say copycat?” Bankotsu retorted, as he jumped from behind her to in front of her.
Kitty stood on her hands and knees, ignoring the pain that surged from her hand and up her arm.
She was panting deeply as sweat rolled off of her face.
"I have a name!" Kitty yelled, surprising Bankotsu.
"My name is Kitty, and this Kitty will defeat you!" she added.
Bankotsu's eyes narrowed.
"Shut up." he yelled.
“Ugh–” Kitty grunted, as Bankotsu kicked her right shoulder harshly; making her skid back wards earning a few more scratches from the forest floor.
Landing on her back, Bankotsu grabbed his Banryuu and jumped; landing in front of her.
Kitty braced herself as she sat up on her elbows; her knees bending to stand up.
“Nah uh uh…” Bankotsu stepped over her so that each foot was on either side of her hips.
Standing tall, he looked down at her over the bridge of his nose.
“Now surrender.” Bankotsu raised his Banryuu over his head and swung it twice in the shape of a X.
Kitty flicked her wrists, as her two hidden daggers ripped through the cloth of her slayer suit.
Holding her upper back up without her arms; she shoved her arms protectively in front of her face.
The sound of metal meeting metal was heard as the Banryuu scraped her daggers; as well as made deep cuts along her elbows.
Hissing in pain, Kitty swiped her arms horizontally as she cut Bankotsu’s legs.
“Bitch!” Bankotsu growled; as he backed up.
The bottom of his white fabric pants, were now bloodied.
Kitty stood up and grimaced as the pain increased through her arms and hand.
Now that his legs were hurt, she swept down and kicked his legs out from under him, making him fall on his back and the Banryuu fall from his grasp.
Kitty stepped over him, planting each foot on his muscled biceps as she dropped her katana and grabbed his Banryuu.
“You tried to kill me with my own weapons. Now it’s your turn.” Kitty growled, as she held his own Banryuu right over his neck; a drop of blood drawing from the puncture.
“You’re pretty good lookin’ for a slayer.” he said.
The sudden compliment distracted her and Bankotsu smirked.
"I knew that would work…" he smirked.
Bankotsu’s upper arms were being held by the woman; but his lower arms weren't, so bending his elbows upward; he grabbed Kitty’s ankles firmly and pushed her forward.
Kitty gasped as she fell on her stomach, her arms above her head holding Bankotsu’s Banryuu. While trying to get up on her elbows; she felt Bankotsu’s foot push her back down on the ground.
“Funny how you get distracted so easily.” he replied, smirking.
Now sitting on her lower back, he reached over her and grabbed his sword from her hands; as well as brought her arms back and crossed them behind her, careful not to cut himself on her daggers.
“I can finally stop and rest for a second.” Bankotsu joked, as he relaxed.
"And what a comfy little seat I have.” he added.
Kitty rolled her eyes. “Don’t get too comfortable, Bankotsu.” she said, as she tried to squirm away from his weight; but it was no use.
Bankotsu chuckled as he let go of Kitty; letting her get up on her hands, and she pushed him off of her back.
She re-hid her hidden daggers. Bankotsu said seriously, "Not half bad Catherine! I am duly impressed! And by a woman no less!"
He grinned, holding out his hand and helped her to her feet.
He pulled her into him. Looking into her eyes; he leaned down and brushed his lips lightly over hers.
She was completely taken by surprise. He ran his tongue over her lips, silently seeking permission to enter.
She sighed. Taking advantage, he shoved his tongue into her mouth. He began lightly exploring her mouth.
He also wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her to him.
She sighed, wrapped her arms around his neck, and leaned into his kiss. She began experimentally kissing him back.
He slanted his mouth fully over hers and changed the kiss from exploring and gentle to demanding and passionate.
She kissed him back just as passionately.
He broke the kiss and lightly pushed her away from him.
She looked at him with wide eyes and a shocked expression on her face. She asked softly, "Why did you just kiss me like that?"
He smirked and answered, "Curiosity."
She replied evenly, "Curiosity huh?"
He smirked wider and confessed, "I have been wondering what it would be like to kiss you since I first saw you! Now I know!"
She whispered, "That was my first real kiss..."
Bankotsu grinned and retorted smugly, "Lucky for you then babe! Cause I have been told I am a GREAT kisser!"
She looked at him and said angrily, "Well next time, I suggest you take your curiosity else where. You big jerk!"
Then she walked over to her Hiraiku. She lifted it with her good hand, and stormed to wards camp.
He hefted his Banryuu over his shoulder. Grinning, he followed her back to camp.
Back at camp...
Back at camp they put their weapons away and sat and talked a bit.
As they talked; Kitty tended to Bankotsu's wounds, and he to hers.
Bankotsu complimented impressed, "You are the only other person I have ever met who can even lift my Banryuu!"
Kitty smiled and replied, "Well it was a little heavy, but I managed it!"
Laughing, Bankotsu added seriously, "That you did! And that in itself makes you worthy of becoming one of us!"
Kitty questioned softly, "So what do you call yourself anyways? You have already stolen my first real kiss and I don't even know your name!"
Bankotsu smirked and answered proudly, "I am Bankotsu! Leader of the band of seven!"
Kitty gasped and said, "But you were all rumored to be dead over 50 years ago...how is that possible!?"
Bankotsu said, "Suffice it to say we were brought back by the power of the sacred jewel."
Kitty nodded and said, "I see, so that's why you all have shards inside you."
Bankotsu said curiously, "So tell me Catherine, Just how long have you been on your own?"
Kitty sighed and answered, "A little over 3 and 1/2 years now..."
Bankotsu nodded and informed, "Well you aren't alone anymore! Now you have us! My brothers and I are like a family. And now you are one of us!"
Kitty inquired seriously, "Tell me Bankotsu, why did a mercenary like you, save a woman like me? I thought mercenaries only killed when they were paid too."
Bankotsu replied evenly, "You needed some help and I was there. Besides, cowards like those three make me sick to my stomach!"
Kitty nodded and suggested evenly, "If you wish me to, I will stay with you and your brothers, but I can not kill innocent people. I will be your cook and locate the shards, but I will not kill needlessly!"
Bankotsu nodded and answered, "Unfortunate, but you being a priestess and all I can understand why. Stay with us!"
Kitty nodded and said, "Thank you for understanding!" and Bankotsu nodded.
Bankotsu informed, "You will still have to prove yourself to the others, but know you are under my protection! Speaking of which, until you have proven yourself to the others for your own protection, you will continue to sleep in my bed."
Kitty gasped loudly.
Bankotsu continued deadly serious, "It has been sometime since ANY of us have been with a woman,. I don't want them attacking you or anything."
Kitty was not happy about this, but realized he had a valid point and nodded; after all she trusted Bankotsu.
The others came back carrying 4 rabbits already skinned.
Bankotsu nodded and Kitty took the rabbits, put them in a pot of water, added some herbs to the water and let it cook.
Bankotsu announced, "Alright listen up! As I said earlier Catherine here is our newest member. She has proven herself worthy to me and she can also see the jewel shards, so she has joined us! Now I realize she still has to prove herself to you guys; but NO ONE will be allowed to mess with her WITHOUT answering to me! UNDERSTOOD!?"
The others nodded and replied, "Yes big brother!"
Kitty suggested, "Bankotsu, I have an idea... Would you kindly bring out Banryuu?"
Bankotsu, guessing what she had in mind; nodded and retrieved his Banryuu.
He set it down, walked over to Kitty, nodded, then encouraged, "Very well, go ahead."
Kitty nodded, walked over to Banryuu, and lifted it easily.
She then walked over to Bankotsu and handed him his baby; as the other three's jaws all dropped.
Jakotsu stuttered "But...But how is that possible!? Only big brother Bankotsu has EVER been able to lift Banryuu!"
Kitty smirked and informed proudly, "I grew up as a demon slayer!"
Renkotsu questioned confused, "But how can you be a demon slayer and a priestess at the same time!?"
Kitty replied sadly, "I was trained as a demon slayer from childhood, but one day my best friend's father who was also the village headman, saw me use some purifying powers and decided I should go to another village and be trained as a priestess instead. He sent me away for training and I never got to return. So now, I am both."
Everyone nodded.
Bankotsu said evenly, "I assume she has now proven herself worthy to you three as well?"
Jakotsu said, "I may not like it, but I am impressed! So yes."
Renkotsu sneered, "She has proven herself strong! That is all."
Suikotsu added, "She has proven herself a good fighter as well! Or have you already forgotten her fight with Jakotsu?"
Renkotsu rebutted, "So she is strong like big brother, faster and smarter than Jakotsu, and a priestess as well. I suppose she will do."
Bankotsu sighed and proclaimed, "Good then that settles it! And know this, she is under MY protection at ALL times! And she will continue sleeping in my bed!"
Renkotsu snickered and implied, "I see, you wish her for self then, eh big brother!?"
Bankotsu became angry and retorted, "I only wish to insure her safety from all of you! She has proven herself worthy of being one of us! No doubt about that! But we are all men! And could all easily find her a temptation! Her being the only woman here and all! For her safety alone, she will continue to sleep in my bed! I warn you all now; you will have to get through me to get to her at night! And Renkotsu, I strongly suggest you do NOT push this issue any further!" and everyone nodded.
Kitty sighed, got up and doled out the stew. Everyone ate it and agreed, that she knew how to cook.
Kitty smiled and volunteered evenly, "I know how to do many things! Cooking is just a skill I learned in order to survive."
Bankotsu grinned and responded seriously, "Well you are our new cook! This is the best stew I have ever tasted!" The others all nodded their agreement.
Kitty said "Now that we are all like family, you may call me Kitty or Cathy if you so choose. Actually I would prefer if you all used one of those two names."
Everyone nodded.
Kitty nodded. Then she decided to head off to the hot springs, to soak her sore muscles and take the bath; that was so rudely interrupted days ago.
She also decided to wash her hair as well.
Later that night...
Everyone else had gone off to bed and Kitty and Bankotsu were still up talking.
"So why not just find a man and settle down instead then?" asked Bankotsu.
Kitty sighed heavily and responded, "Because, I don't want to get used to another village and have it become slaughtered as well! Plus I am a slayer and a priestess, I have to be active in the out doors or I become easily bored and unhappy! I am happiest fighting the demons and traveling around."
Bankotsu nodded and said, "I see. So why not marry a traveling man then?"
Kitty became aggravated and demanded, "What is it with men anyways? They think if a woman doesn't have a man protecting her; she can't be happy!? UGH!"
Bankotsu chuckled and informed, "Well, I DID end up saving you the other night."
Kitty said evenly, "That was an unfair fight and you know it! Plus they jumped me at one of my most vulnerable times! I was just getting ready to enter the hot springs!"
Bankotsu chuckled and mocked, "Excuses, excuses."
Kitty glared at him and retorted, "Tell me, why aren't YOU married then?"
Bankotsu sighed and responded evenly, "Being a mercenary isn't exactly the way to raise kids. Besides I have yet to find a woman who I am even attracted to in that way, yet alone one who can even try to keep up with me!"
Kitty said mockingly, "Excuses, excuses."
Bankotsu smirked and replied amused, "Touche!"
Kitty smirked as well.
Then she proclaimed, "If and when I do decide to settle down, then and ONLY then will I even worry about it!"
Bankotsu sighed and said, "It's getting late, you better get some rest."
Kitty asked, "And what about you?"
Bankotsu replied evenly, "I am fine, I will stay out here a while longer and enjoy the night air."
Kitty nodded and sighed.
Bankotsu warned playfully, "Now don't force me to make it an order."
Kitty smiled and retorted laughing, "As if I am one to even follow orders."
Bankotsu smirked, got up, stood in front of her, and said, "Now scoot!" as he playfully slapped her on her butt.
She turned around and angrily warned, "Hands to yourself pal! I am too tired to do so this time so I won't kick your butt this one time instead I will let it slide, but next time you won't be so lucky!"
Bankotsu chuckled and said, "Go on feisty! Off to bed! before I have to end up carrying you again."
She stomped off grumbling about "Bossy, typical men."
Bankotsu watched her leave. Chuckling, he shook his head, and mumbled about "Stubborn, feisty women."
Kitty changed into her Kimono outfit and climbed into bed and she was asleep with in minutes.
Bankotsu's POV
After sending that stubborn feisty woman off to bed.
I stayed outside, thinking over everything that had happened today.
Mostly I thought about what an impressive fighter she was and that kiss.
I thought to myself 'Why can't I seem to get that kiss out of my head? After all it was just a kiss right? Nothing new there. That woman is gonna drive me nuts! Her feisty nature will drive me nuts for certain! So why do I put up with it? Sure we could really benefit from being able to locate the shards and her cooking, but is it worth all the hassle?'
I shook my head, sighed heavily, and walked into my room.
Regular POV
An hour later Bankotsu entered the room. He took off his shirt, leaving only his pants on, and climbed into bed.
He laid there staring at the ceiling. He felt Kitty roll over and snuggle into his chest.
She mumbled about "Bossy, typical men."
Bankotsu chuckled, rolling onto his side. He curled his self around her.
He fell asleep only minutes later.
The next day...
Bankotsu awoke and realized Kitty was still cuddled to his chest. He looked at her and smiled.
He gently moved some of her hair, so he could get a better look at her face.
She sighed and rolled over facing away from him. He chuckled, then got out of bed, and put his shirt on.
Kitty woke up and stretched.
Bankotsu said, "Morning."
Kitty smiled and said, "Good morning."
She got out of bed and continued to stretch a few more minutes.
Bankotsu watched her stretch and said evenly, "After breakfast, get your katana and meet me outside."
She smiled and nodded, then they both walk outside.
Jakotsu had already started smoking some fish for everyone.
Kitty walked over, smiled, and greeted happily, "Morning Jakotsu."
Jakotsu said happily, "Morning little sister."
Kitty sat down by Jakotsu and offered, "Ya know, if you want, later I can work on teaching you to read and write some."
Jakotsu brightened and said, "Okay little sister."
Kitty nodded and everyone ate.
Then Kitty grabbed her katana and went to meet Bankotsu, as she had been instructed.
