“Kagome...” Inuyasha heard Sesshoumaru whisper before the youkai’s eyes closed.
Inuyasha smiled and thought of Kagome and Sesshoumaru. He loved her and only her. She taught him to trust and showed him what it was like to truly love. He was grateful to her and everything she was. “Thank you... Kagome.” Inuyasha said softly as the last of his life drained from his body.
“No...” Midoriko whispered.
“What is it?” Naraku asked from the corner of the room. He had been watching Midoriko sleep but didn’t wake her when she seemed distressed.
“They are dead.” Midoriko cried softly.
“Yes, they are.” Naraku responded. “But why does that distress you?”
“It doesn’t, I was merely making an observation.” Midoriko wiped away her tears and laid back down. “I will sleep now.”
“Alright.” Naraku said and stood to join her.
“It is you.” Kurogawa’s wispy voice said.
“And you.” Takumi frowned. Takumi watched as the girl ran for the flute. She didn’t move at demonic speed and Takumi knew he could catch her. The boy reached for the other shield, the one that belong to his fallen brother, Akira and chased Kurogawa. The demon reached for the flute and almost had it, but Takumi was faster, and was upon her in an instant. Kurogawa gasped as she felt the cold metal slice through her. She coughed and looked back at the boy who looked at her with hate.
“But, your aura is so pure.” Kurogawa whispered as death began to claim her.
“Yes, I suppose it is.” Takumi responded quietly, then pulled the shield from her body and watched as she slumped over dead.
Takumi looked over at the mates of Kagome and then back at the flute. He stepped forward and brought his shield down, crushing the evil instrument. Takumi felt a breeze and a mist come from the flute and enter the bodies of Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru. There was more mist that disappeared into the woods. Takumi smiled and went after it, not waiting for the brothers to awaken.
“Why didn’t she stop the wish from happening?” Kagome asked Kikyou when they returned to the beach.
“Before Naraku came to her, she was growing weak. She fought constantly, while trying to keep a protective eye over all of us. She used what little strength she had to save one of us.” Kikyou explained. “She needed assistance but it was important for you to stay in the real world. As we said before you are very important.”
“Why am I important?” Kagome asked sadly.
Kikyou smiled. “Do you remember the dragon?” Kagome looked up confused. “The dragon who stole your memories and swept you away?”
“Yes, I purified it.”
“Yes you did, you purified one of the three souls.”
“But how? There are still three evil souls within the jewel.” Kagome said bewildered.
“No, only two remain. The other is a pale imitation of Naraku’s will. He poses no treat, just intimidation. And a reminder.”
“A reminder of what?”
“A reminder of what evil is truly capable of.”
Naraku shot open his eyes and felt drained. Something was wrong. He couldn’t sense Midoriko’s soul anymore. Instead he felt something much stronger.
Kagome gasped at the sudden rush of evil energy that surrounded her. Just moments before she was on the beach with Kikyou. But now she stood with a fully corrupted Shikon no tama in her hands and neither Kikyou or Midoriko in sight.
“What’s going on now?” Kagome growled out.
“We must hurry.” Midoriko’s voice called out from within her.
“Midoriko...” Kagome gasped. “What’s happening?”
“Please, Kagome we must go NOW!” Midoriko shouted. Kagome felt herself being pushed forward and all she could do was run. Kagome had no clue where Midoriko was taking her, then suddenly an evil and sickening roar shook Kagome to the bone. Behind her, Naraku was in pursuit.
“MIDORIKO!!!” Kagome could here the pure anguish in the demon’s voice, and it caused her to regain herself partially. She was confused as Midoriko seemed to take control again. Although Kagome was confused about what was happening she was relived to she herself going towards the exit, until Midoriko made a quick detour.
“Midoriko! Please!” Kagome begged. “Tell me what happened.”
“The bow and arrow. We must retrieve them.” Midoriko said as she finally found her way into the room she and Naraku shared. Midoriko picked up the weapon and aimed it for the door. “Kagome, we must work together. Naraku’s power has grow completely. He cannot be killed through normal purification. Midoriko tied the Shikon no Tama to the arrow. Kikyou?”
Kikyou’s voice spoke up. “You are going to destroy the jewel to kill Naraku.”
“What!” Kagome screamed. “You can’t, we are still trapped in here.”
“Kagome, Courage cannot fire the arrow. Love must be the one to do it. But your soul will be destroyed also.” Midoriko explained. “Kikyou and I will charge the jewel and you will release all of it’s power within the arrow.”
“I can’t, Midoriko. What about Daiki and Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru. I can’t leave them.” Kagome cried.
“Kagome, Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru are dead.” Midoriko stated firmly. “Killed, by Naraku.”
“He tried to take her away from us.” Inuyasha ground out.
“Hn.” Was Sesshoumaru’s reply.
“He thought he won.”
“Hn.”
“She’s in there.”
“Hn.”
“Naraku is going to die tonight.”
“That, my Brother. Is the most intelligent thing you said thus far.”
“Fuck You.”
“And you.”
Both youkai and hanyou drew their swords and leapt to storm Naraku’s castle.
“I’m sorry Kagome. But the mating marks are gone.” Midoriko sighed. “They are dead.”
At that moment Naraku came through the door. He knew from the moment he saw her rage filled eyes and the arrow pointing strait at his heart, that he was looking into the eyes of Kagome and not Midoriko.
“Ah, Kagome.” Naraku chuckled. “Welcome back.”
“Inuyasha, Sesshoumaru... Ichiro.” Kagome’s voice trembled. “Because they loved me, because they wanted to be with me...they had to die.” Naraku almost stepped back from Kagome’s look of pure hatred. “You killed them. Because I loved them too.” Kagome shot her arrow but was shocked when Naraku quickly dodged it. She shrieked and ran as fast as her legs could carry her only to be grabbed by the neck and dragged back to face the demon.
“Kagome, kukuku.” Naraku chuckled. “You don’t want to kill me. I’m all you have left.” Kagome quickly took hold of the tentacles that were cutting her air supply and purified them into to letting her go. Naraku roared in pain and charged towards the miko who quickly whipped around him and to the arrow that jutted out the wall when Naraku dodged it. Kagome quickly turned and aimed her arrow again. Naraku charged and suddenly it was like everything completely slowed to a halt.
“Kagome, concentrate.” It was the voice of Midoriko. “It may seem that our time is up. Maybe this was our true destiny.”
“Shippou and Sachiko will take care of Daiki.” Kikyou sighed. “And soon we will be with the souls we all care for.”
Kagome pondered this and a tear slipped from her eye. “No, not all of us. Daiki... is my son.” Kagome felt time begin to increase to full force. “DAIKI IS MY DESTINY!!!!”
Kagome ripped the Shikon Jewel off the arrow and the moment she was about to release, Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru bursted through the door and swung their swords. Naraku felt the awesome power of the Tessaiga and Tokijin hit him directly. He felt his body burn away and saw no means for escape. The demon ran, burning and blind, right into Kagome. Inuyasha chased Naraku who had snatched the Jewel and Sesshoumaru knelt by Kagome’s fallen side.
“Miko, are you injured?” Sesshoumaru asked as he held his love in his arms. Kagome was speechless as she was held close by the youkai she believed to be dead. Then realization hit her. They almost died, Sesshoumaru... Inuyasha. She almost lost them. Kagome finally broke down and cried. She clutched Sesshoumaru kimono like a child with a security blanket and melted into his hold. She appreciated him to no end and loved him now more than ever. Sesshoumaru held Kagome close, realizing that the mating marks were gone and that he and Inuyasha were in fact dead at one point. The Taiyoukai almost lost the love of his life and he swore to be a better mate from that day forward.
Inuyasha rushed back into the room and fell to his knees next to his brother and the woman he loved. “Kagome...” Inuyasha whispered as he pulled her from Sesshoumaru’s protective grasp and into his own. Kagome clutched to Inuyasha just as she did for Sesshoumaru and cried. There wasn’t any possible way to favor one over the other. She knew they loved her equally as she loved them. Inuyasha whispered sweet nothings and Sesshoumaru stroked her hair.
“He got away.” Inuyasha stood and held Kagome bridal style. “We’ll be seeing him again soon.”
“He got the jewel, again.” Kagome whispered. “Midoriko and Kikyou are in his hands again.
A/N: It’s been a lllllooooonnnngggg time readers. But I have returned. Yes Naraku is still alive. I still need him for our story. I bet you guys thought that our love triangle would be sealed for the entire story, huh? That’s right, they are no longer mates! Who knows if it will stay that way.

A/N: I bet there is some confusion about the last chapter (*ahem* Madmiko) When Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru heard the flute they thought the song was beautiful, (“...as is she”) They weren’t speaking of Kurogawa. (She’s just a child) They were talking about Kagome. And they aren’t under a spell, Kurogawa is killing them with her flute as per Naraku’s orders. So they’re last thoughts are of Kagome. Oh and about Sesshoumaru’s first born, he didn’t know his mate was pregnant and he accidently killed the baby when he killed her. When Sesshoumaru said the baby died as a true taiyoukai he meant that the baby was in it’s true form and that is how he knew it was his. Let’s see what else. Oh yes, Daiki is a big part of the story, and you will learn why in a few chapters I have to finish the Midoriko and Naraku arc first. But right now he is in the care of Shippou and his mate. Speaking of which I wanted to write a side one shot about them too! Anyway, I turned this into a whole paragraph now. But I hope I cleared up some things. Now on with a very exciting chapter!!!!!I feel beautiful when I'm around you

Inuyasha felt as if a part of him was being ripped away and there was no way to pull it back. That song was still playing and somehow he knew that he would never see his dear Kagome again. Slowly he looked over to his brother. Sesshoumaru was lying on his side and staring at him. Inuyasha gasped at what he saw. From the corner of the taiyoukai’s eye was a lone tear drop. Inuyasha knew that Sesshoumaru had felt the same way.“Kagome...” Inuyasha heard Sesshoumaru whisper before the youkai’s eyes closed.

Midoriko jumped from her sleep. She felt the mating marks that Kagome had burn and fade. The old miko hunched over and threw up. She held her stomach tightly and cried. Then she realized that the brother’s all three of the souls loved were dead.“No...” Midoriko whispered.
“What is it?” Naraku asked from the corner of the room. He had been watching Midoriko sleep but didn’t wake her when she seemed distressed.
“They are dead.” Midoriko cried softly.
“Yes, they are.” Naraku responded. “But why does that distress you?”

Kurogawa had succeeded in removing the souls from the inu brothers. But just when she was about to capture them completely her flute was knocked from her hands. The small part of the brother’s souls were returned to them but not enough to awaken them. Kurogawa looked over to see a shield next to the flute. Then she saw the aura of a young human boy. It was the same aura she saw the night she killed the pig taiyoukai.“It is you.” Kurogawa’s wispy voice said.
“And you.” Takumi frowned. Takumi watched as the girl ran for the flute. She didn’t move at demonic speed and Takumi knew he could catch her. Kagome shot another arrow in the direction of the charging lesser demon. She learned a lot about the three souls within the jewel now. They weren’t much different than Naraku, in their ability to create incarnations of themselves. Kagome decided that was how Naraku had gained that power. Kagome also learned something very strange also. When Naraku’s soul was absorbed into the jewel he created the beach with the help of Midoriko so that she may find a place to rest when exhausted from fighting. But in the beginning it wasn’t for that purpose. It was to keep Kikyou away. Kagome learned that Midoriko pulled Kikyou’s soul from Kagome. Just when Naraku had made the wish.“Why didn’t she stop the wish from happening?” Kagome asked Kikyou when they returned to the beach.
“Before Naraku came to her, she was growing weak. She fought constantly, while trying to keep a protective eye over all of us. She used what little strength she had to save one of us.” Kikyou explained. “She needed assistance but it was important for you to stay in the real world. As we said before you are very important.”

Midoriko moved slowly and quietly over the hard wood floors of the castle. Naraku was building his strength up in another room. A room right besides the shikon no tama. But she had to be near it. She couldn’t wait any longer. The Brother’s were dead and that had set her plans back dramatically. It seemed as though she wasn’t moving at all, carefully and almost painfully inching the shouji door open. She couldn’t do it alone. She was only courage, she needed loyalty and most importantly love to back her up. She knew what that would do. But with the brother’s dead Midoriko also knew the Kagome would take the risk. Midoriko reached out for the jewel and felt the evil energy it had been absorbing from Naraku begin to purify.Naraku shot open his eyes and felt drained.

Inuyasha stood over looking Naraku’s castle. Sesshoumaru growled low. Naraku tried and failed to kill him for the last time. He tried to allow Kagome to fight her battles. She was strong before she met him and she will be strong for the rest of her life with or without him. Both brother’s never fully gave themselves to Kagome like she deserved. But waking up after facing death, they only thought of her. They died knowing that they loved the miko. And from today on, they knew that they would only live for her forever.“He tried to take her away from us.” Inuyasha ground out.
“Hn.” Was Sesshoumaru’s reply.
“He thought he won.”
