The Heist

Chapter Two

A New Life

The clubs lights flashed in her eyes, and the booming music almost blew her ears out..but she was used to it. She tapped her foot to the techno, and watched the pathetic dancers.

"Slow night, huh Rye?" A voice came from in front of her.

She looked down and to her right, and there was a man of about twenty-two sitting on a stool. He had black spiky black hair, green eyes, and a smile that made most girls swoon.

"Kora, Hiro-kun, what would you like?" She smiled at the regular.

He tapped his fingers on the marble countertop. "A dance with you-" She rolled her eyes. "But I guess not. I'll take an Altered States." He slapped the money on the counter-top and watched her prepare his shot.

"Why do you always choose the complicated ones that no one wants?" She bent over and rummaged through the bottom cabinet.

Hiro and a few guys who were sitting at the counter tilted their heads. "To see your fine ass." He muttered.

She stood up again holding a bottle of Pear Liqueur. "What was that, Hiro-kun?"

"Nothing, nothing. So Miss Rye Miyazaki, when will you give in and let me take you on a date?"

"When pigs fly."

"Oh, playing hard to get." He raised his eyebrows.

"Hardly. Trust me, there is much more to me than you can handle." She handed him the shot glass.

"Well, I'll try again tomorrow. Bottoms up."

"Tondemonai."

"Inuyasha, you know we really need one." Miroku shot a look at Sango.

"What for?!"

Sango took a sip of her coffee. "We've been over this, Inuyasha." She sighed at his scowl. "I will be keeping a close watch on the bastard; meanwhile, Miroku will hack into the system, and will make sure everything is running smoothly. You will be in charge of the hands on work, as in actually obtaining the item. The fourth will be your partner in action, and in case anything happens, will help you fend off the enemy."

He paused, sinking into the sofa. "Keh. I don't need a 'partner in action'."

"You did before." Miroku said coolly, picking a clipboard off the coffee table.

Inuyasha didn't say anything.

"Now that we have that settled, who are the choices you have so far, Houshi-sama?"

"You know, Sango, you can call me Miroku."

"Hai, hai, just get on with it." She rolled her eyes.

"Fine, well, we could always ask Kouga.." Inuyasha growled.

"Or not. Ok, how about Vash?"

"He's already on the run." Sango put her head in her hands.

"James Morgan?"

"Last I heard of him, he was all wrapped up in stealing some sort of thing called a Pikachu."

"Kenshin?"

"He went good, you idiot." Inuyasha rolled his eyes. "You suck at this."

"Happosai?"

"He steals undergarments." Sango looked at Miroku warily. "Any more?"

Miroku paused. "Well..there is one."

Inuyasha snatched the clipboard out of his hands. "Kagome Higurashi?"

Sango grinned. "She would be perfect! I heard she's the best!"

Miroku pulled out his laptop and opened a program. He typed in her name, and information and a picture of Kagome popped up.

Inuyasha and Sango peered at the computer over his shoulder.

"She's only twenty-four?" Inuyasha raised his eyebrow.

Sango shook her head and pointed under her picture. "That doesn't matter; look at what she has done." Sango read aloud, "Higurashi is best known for stealing the Shikon no Tama. As the guards tell it, she had passed it on to a man in a black helicopter, before being pushed back onto the roof. Before Higurashi had a chance to be handcuffed though, she pulled something out of her pocket and threw to the side of the roof, thus creating a huge explosion. None were hurt, but the thief was lost in all the confusion."

Miroku scrolled down to the bottom of the article. "Higurashi's whereabouts are unknown. If any information is found, please contact the Tokyo Police Force."

Miroku and Sango both turned to Inuyasha.

"So?" Miroku raised his eyebrows.

"Are you stupid or something? They said she can't be found!"

"Since when has that stopped you?" Sango asked. "Besides we have tons of inside sources."

He sighed. "Fine."

Kora- A way of saying hey.

Tondemonai- No way.

Altered States- A type of shot. (I'm sure you gathered that.)
