Part Three: A Battle of Wills

Chapter Five: The Presentation

The months that they had been given to work on the project passed fairly quickly. Today was the day that the video would be presented. The classes, for the next week, would all be together to watch the projects. Ina's group had signed up for the last day, but they had turned it in. Ina beamed at Naraku as she watched the video as the beginning played.

 

~Project~

 

Ina smirked, listening to the screams of the village that was behind her, the black smoke billowing from the flames. After a short time, the flames died out. She heard the sound of a bow being shot and spun around, but it was far too late. Sakura was glaring as the arrow hit Ina and pierced her heart, pinning her to the tree. Ina reached for Sakura, her vision blurring. Her hand dropped to her side limply. Sakura turned around and walked back to the village that was nearly destroyed.

 

100 years later…

 

Sesshomaru looked up at the black starry sky. He drew his sword and started to spin in circles, doing his normal exercise. Before long, his father found him and hit him to get him to snap back to reality that he wasn't supposed to work without supervision.

 

200 years later…

 

Inuyasha growled as he stared at his brother's castle. He turned around and walked away, hand on Tessaiga. He jumped into a tree to wait for his brother to come out so he could ambush the bastard.

 

100 years later…

 

Kuro walked through the trees, her cat tail dragging on the ground. She was holding a wound as the crimson blood made a trail. She sat at the base of a tree, falling unconscious for a long sleep. Just before she was unable to stay awake, she snarled, “You will pay, Inutaisho…You…Will…Pay…”

 

100 years later…

 

Kuro stared up at Ina, the powerful demon borne of a priestess and a demon, but yet, not at all human. A full demon with sacred capabilities. She was pinned by an arrow, one that sealed her away so that she could not surface from the eternal sleep. Kuro pulled out the arrow, causing it to disintegrate. Ina slid to her feet from her slightly risen position. She opened her eyes wearily and glanced about, staring at Kuro for a minute. Her mouth was very dry, her eyes aching from the light. “Who are you..?” She asked. The last thing she remembered was her mother shooting her with that cursed arrow…

 

“I am Kurobara, Kuro for short. You are Ina of Edo, are you not?”

“I am…”

“I'm going to ask your help with a mission I have.”

“Oh?”

“I wish to kill two men, the sons of the Inutaisho.”

“Ahh. The great dog of the West. The poor hound was pathetic.”

“Hmm.”

“Very well, I shall assist you.”

 

20 years later…

 

Inuyasha was sitting in Kaede's hut, the old woman stirring a pot of stew. He sensed a demonic aura and jumped out the flap. Kuro waited in the clearing, her staff pointed at Inuyasha. “I knew you'd come.” She smirked as Inuyasha growled.

“Whaddya want?”

“To kill you.”

“Feh.” Inuyasha drew his Tessaiga, which transformed into a giant fang. He ran at Kuro, who threw five shuriken at him. Knowing he couldn't dodge, he closed his eyes and waited for the pain. The pain didn't come. For a few minutes he stood with his eyes closed before he looked. There was the one woman he loved, dead with the shuriken protruding from her chest.

 

Kuro, sick, left the scene because she had killed a human…As she left the half-demon crying, she hopped into a tree. Ina appeared out of nowhere. “So that was number one? Man, you could have killed him now! He's entirely open!” Kuro's glare silenced her.

“Sorry…”

 

Kuro sighed. “Tomorrow we'll go after the older brother.”

“Hey, umm, Kuro-Chan, I wanted to discuss something with you.”

“What?”

“Since the older brother is a full demon and all, shouldn't I be the one to face him?” She spotted Kuro's glare again. “Not that you aren't able to! I just want to fight someone more my level.”

“Hmph.”

Sesshomaru and Naraku were standing in the same clearing, Sesshomaru ready with Tokijin. Naraku laughed and sneered at Sesshomaru. “You hope to defeat me? You couldn't kill me if you tried.”

“We shall see.” A large energy blast from behind Sesshomaru nearly hit him. He jumped out of the way at the last second. Ina smirked. “Lord Sesshomaru of the West. How are you?”

“Hn.”

“Aww, you loved that phrase ever since you were a pup.”

“Hn.”

“Geez, that can become annoying.”

“Hn.”

 

Ina yawned lightly. She drew her sword and shouted, “DRAGON BARRAGE!!!” Energy that was the color of red gathered around her, swirling in a tornado. She smirked, dragons forming from the tornado. In this time, Naraku had moved away to witness this. He smirked evilly, knowing what to do to get this powerful being on his side. Sesshomaru had retreated, knowing very well the fight was futile.

 

Naraku walked over, enticing a growl from the worked-up dog in front of him. He held out a hand. “Come now, I can help you kill that idiot.”

“I do not require your assistance.” Ina sounded almost like Sesshomaru as she turned and left the evil hanyou to his business.

 

1,000 years later…

 

Naraku, Sesshomaru, and Ina all sat together. Ina sat at the front, reading a book, while each of the males sat next to her and slightly behind her. Kuro was also reading, Inuyasha reading over her shoulder. They were all silent, Inuyasha not acting at all mature. Sesshomaru had a book open on his lap while Naraku stared at Ina.

 

Ina finally closed her book. “Come on, guys, let's go outside!”

“Alright!” Kuro shouted, rising to her feet. The group ran outside, the camera freezing to show Sesshomaru stoic behind Ina, Naraku smiling, Inuyasha right with Kurobara and Ina, who were already spilling out onto the grand stairs.

“I'm stuck inside. Can't get this done wish I could hide.”

Sesshomaru could be seen, sitting at his desk doing paperwork, one of the most annoyed expressions on his face.

Naraku, Ina, and Sesshomaru were sitting at a fire, Sesshomaru and Naraku suddenly lunging at her and pinning her to the ground.

Inuyasha and Kuro were lying together to stare at the stars, eventually moving in for a kiss.

“It's on my mind. I think I'm running out of time.”

Kuro and Ina were running. They jumped over the side of the hill, revealing their pursuers as Naraku, Sesshomaru, and Inuyasha.

“This waiting's more than I can take.”

Ina was lying on the side of a hill, staring at the sky. Naraku and Sesshomaru settled on either side of her. Kuro and Inuyasha settled on the opposite side of Naraku.

“That clock is slow. It's never gonna let me go!”

Naraku and Sesshomaru were reading silently. Ina was doing her best to make them laugh.

Inuyasha was sitting outside in the trees. Kuro was shouting at him before she shouted a word in Inuyasha came plummeting into the ground.

“All I really want is to get away. Can anybody tell me…”

Inuyasha, Sesshomaru, and Naraku were discussing something under their breath while Ina and Kuro played with a ball, tossing it back and forth without the use of their hands.

Naraku and Sesshomaru joined in the game while Inuyasha tried to figure out the markings on the paper.

Sesshomaru looked at Ina, a slow smirk shaping his lips. He continued to train, showing off and causing Ina to drool.

Naraku was sitting in his office in Sesshomaru's castle. He had a scroll out in front of him. Ina snuck up on him, wrapping her arms around him.

Naraku jumped from Ina's sudden appearance. He couldn't hide his blush as Ina kissed him on the cheek.

The small group sat in the study once more.

 

“I want to play that game. I want to play that game.”

As the music faded out, Ina looked around. “I think I heard something.”

“Oh?” Naraku asked. He whispered in Ina's hear, causing a dark blush to paint her cheeks. “N-No that's not it!”

 

Ina pushed Naraku away from her and then she said, “I think that it's a great thing that we all met. I can't remember life before I got stuck with these pervs.”

“I'M NOT A PERV!!” Naraku and Sesshomaru shouted together.

 

Kuro and Ina laughed. Naraku rested his head in her lap with a whine. Ina set her book on his face and jumped up. Naraku yelped as his head hit the floor and Ina ran to the door. “Catch me if you can!”

“Catch me too!” Kuro yelled. She and Ina took off into the setting sun. Their mates followed, trying to catch up. The camera moved up and stared into the horizon.

 

~End of Project~

 

The class was applauding. Naraku, Sesshomaru, Ina, Kuro, and Inuyasha grinned at one another. Sesshomaru, Naraku, and Sesshomaru all shared a glance, a sudden happiness lighting them up.
