Ok everyone!!! Sorry for the really really long delay….but I made this chapter a lot better than my last once to measure up for it!

CHAPTER 5: The sword of healing

The next morning, Sesshomaru didn’t say a single word. He waited for the three to set out for school before he left for work.
Sesshomaru sat in his office, replaying the words over and over in his mind. It was true. He and kagome didn’t get along sometimes, but she made it clear that she actually wanted marry him for him and not some other reason.
“ I guess I’ll have to make this work” he thought. Not like he was madly in love with her or anything,( I beg to differ) but she was starting to grow on him.
Sesshomaru glared evilly at the clock, 12:30, his meeting should have started by now. He hated when his clients were late.
Sill waiting, Sesshomaru thought over last weekends events. He groaned, if this was only the beginning, he agonized on what the rest would be like.
--
A FEW HOURS LATER
--
Rin was walking down the street to the high school. Her school got off a half hour early today and kagome promised to walk home with her.
She was walking through the high school court yard when she bumped into somebody.
“I’m sorry” Rin apologized.
The ninth grader looked down at her with mischievous eyes. “whats a little brat like you doing here?”
“um…” Rin stuttered, backing away. As she backed away, the boy stepped forward. “you’re on my turf, no little kids allowed.
“go away!” Rin yelled.
“like that’s gonna work” the kid cracked his knuckles.
You better stop before my okaa gets here, okaa help!” Rin yelled as loud as her body would let her.
“your okaa’s not here kid” the boy grabbed Rin by the collar of her blue uniform.
Suddenly the boy let go, and Rin fell to the ground. “okaa!” Rin yelled when she saw a woman in a green school uniform grab the boy by his hair and jerk his back.
“Rin, you go on home.” kagome said “ I would like to talk with him”
Rin smiled at kagome and ran from the courtyard, and towards home.
“now..” kagome said menacingly “ what were you saying?”
“t-that’s impossible” the boy shrieked. “you c-can’t be--”
“what if I am?” Kagome asked. She pulled him up higher by the front of his uniform “you touch my Rin again and I’ll hunt your ass down. Got it?” with that, kagome dropped the boy and skipped merrily out of the courtyard.

“daddy!” Rin called as she bolted through the house.
“what is it?” Sesshomaru asked.
“is that steak!??!” Rin cheered as she saw the food her father was preparing for dinner.
“is that what you wanted?” he asked.
Rin’s face list up. “oh yea! This boy was picking on me today and then she saved me!!” she cheered.
“kagome saved you?” he asked.
“uh-huh”
“and what did she do to the boy?”
“Rin does not know, she told me to leave”
“must’ve been harsh” Sesshomaru thought. “very well, go change out of your uniform”
“hai!!”
Sesshomaru glanced back at Rin, before picking up the meant and continued to drain the blood from it. “ shit, this will take forever to get out from under my claws” he thought.
Sesshomaru’s ears picked up a heart wrenching scream. He dropped the meat and ran to the door.
When he reached the door, he met with a sobbing kagome. “you killed him!!”

Kagome was walking home, reaching the house, she noticed something laying in the street. Running over, she met with a bloody Buyo. It would have been obvious to anyone but kagome that he’d been hit by a car.
Kagome scooped up he cat, ignoring the blood stains on her uniform and ran to the house, tears streaming down her face. She let out a heart wrenching scream when the bleeding wouldn’t stop.
Reaching the door, she came face to face with Sesshomaru, who had blood on his claws.
“you killed him!”

Sesshomaru looked at kagome and then to his claws. “oh…the blood”
“I did no such thing” he said.
“do something!” Kagome cried.
“Sesshomaru looked at kagome, he couldn’t stand the hurt in her eyes. “put him down”
“why--”
“now!” Sesshomaru barked. (literally….lol)
Kagome obeyed and out Buyo down on the cream colored carpet.
“that’s going to leave a stain” he thought. “Rin!”
“yea dad?!” Rin came running into the room.
“get tenseiga”
Kagome’s and Rin’s eyes went wide. “hai”.
In about a minute, Rin returned, the sword in her hands.
Seeing that sword sent shivers up her spine, remembering oh too well the chase that came with it.
Sesshomaru slid the sword out of its sheath and held it in front of him.
“why do you want to do this? Its just a pitiful animal” Sesshomaru’s inner beast asked.
“but its kagome’s pitiful animal” he answered his beast.
He swung the sword over that cats corpse, eliminating the servants of the underworld. The blood began to disappear and Buyo stood up and meowed.
Kagome immediately lunged for the cat. “oh Buyo” kagome cried, petting his fur.
Handing Buyo to Rin, kagome looked up at Sesshomaru with wide eyes. She wrapped her arms around him and whispered, “thank you” kagome stood on her toes and gave him a light kiss on the cheek, then took Rin and Buyo into the kitchen for some food.

Since Sesshomaru ruined the steak that afternoon, they decided on takeout. Everyone was sitting around the table, eating dinner. Kagome on the other hand, filled Sota in on the events that had transpired.
“ I cant believe I missed it!” Sota looked over to Sesshomaru with wide brown eyes “ can your sword really bring back the dead?!!?”
“yes” Sesshomaru said blankly.
Deciding to cut in, kagome looked up from her plate. “hey Rin, can you pass me that?” she asked, pointing her chop sticks at the white Chinese food container near Rin’s arm.
Rin went to reach for the container, but her elbow got to it first and knocked rice and soy sauce all over her clothes. Rin went silent as she looked over the mess she made.
Kagome gasped. “you’re all dirty!” (well no duh) she looked over to her brother. “Sota, can you pick that up while I clean Rin up?”
“sure thing” Sota put down his chopsticks and walked over as kagome picked Rin up out of her chair, getting her clothes dirty as well.
Sesshomaru got up and began to clean off the table. After taking care of the dishes, he went to go check up on the girls and just happened to catch in on their conversation. (pft yea right)
Sesshomaru stood at the doorway, gold orbs peeping through the crack.(no hentai)
The two girls were playing. Kagome sat on the edge of the tube with her jeanes rolled up to her knees and he feet in the water as she and Rin threw bubbles at each other.
“you’re the best mommy Rin ever had!” Rin cheered.
Kagome replayed that sentence over in her head. (she seems to be doing a lot of that) “she called me mom”
I’m sorry, did Rin say something wrong?” Rin whispered.
Kagome came back from the land of her thoughts. “oh no, you didn’t. I’m sorry, I was just thinking.”
Rin looked up at kagome. She threw another bubble at he and giggled. “you’re the first one of daddy’s girlfriends to like me…”
Kagome felt a ping inside of her, wondering what it was like to grow up like that. Kagome wrapped Rin in a towel and hugged her close. “ its ok, I’m here now” ( not to ruin the moment but, its soooo cute!!!!)
Sesshomaru backed away form the door and waltz towards his room. “it is sad but true, kagome is indeed the first” Sesshomaru thought.
As he passed through the living room, he turned his gaze over to Sota, who was asleep on the couch, half of his limbs hanging off the sides. It reminded Sesshomaru of when he was that age. He would have never pictured the life he had today.
Soon enough, Sesshomaru reached his room. He closed the door behind him and changed into his sleeping attire. As a demon, he did not need to sleep much, but he did enjoy a few hours of rest every night.
After putting his dirty clothes in his laundry basket, he lounged on his bed and picked up the thick novel that was resting on the oak nightstand.
Sesshomaru groaned as he heard a soft knock on his door, he had just gotten comfortable too. Opening the door, he looked down at kagome, who was clad in a tight tank top, magenta pajama pants, and of course those purple fuzzy slippers.
“yes?” Sesshomaru asked.
“can I talk to you for a minute?” She asked, looking down at her feet.
Sesshomaru stood aside and let her in. kagome walked over and sat on his bed. His very soft and comfy bed.
Kagome watched as he sat down next to her and look at her curiously.
“what happened?” she asked.
“what happened??” he asked.
“your past relationships” kagome said
“why should I tell you that?” he raised an eyebrow.
“Rin seems so cheerfully strange, as if she hasn’t had a mother figure in her life. Why is that? I thought there were others before me…”
“nothing important…” Sesshomaru cupped her chin with his hand and brought her face closer. He stared deeply into her wide chocolate orbs.
Then his next move even shocked himself. He leaned down and kissed her. He nibbled on her bottom lip, asking for entrance. kagome, shocked also, did not object but leaned into the kiss and granted him entrance, letting him explore her mouth.
Sesshomaru’s eyes went wide when he realized what he was doing. He pulled back and kagome fell back onto her arms and let out a content sigh.
“my first kiss…” she thought. (heck ,I wish I could’ve kissed him!)
Sesshomaru’s face went back to its normal blank stare and stood up. “I am going to check upon Rin”
He exited the room, leaving kagome to her thoughts.
“that was nice..” she thought.

Sesshomaru peeked throught the crack of the door(I guess no one knows how to close a door all the way?) and spotted Rin soundly asleep on her bed, with Buyo curled up next to her.
Sesshomaru clicked off the light she had left on, and closed the door all the way. (ah ha! I see that sesshy knows how to close a door!!!!)
Back in his room, he discovered that kagome was still there, snuggled up with his pillow, sleeping.
She looked so peaceful when she slept, like an angel. ( that makes me wonder what I look like when I sleep…) he wouldn’t dare to wake her. Instead, he draped the comforter over her and walked off to the recliner on the far side of the room.
He lay reclined in the chair, not sleeping, but watching the rise and fall of kagome’s chest as she breathed. It seemed to clam his senses, watching her in such a peaceful state.
