“Did Inuyasha and the princess ever see each other again Lady Kaede?” A little girl asked. Kaede nodded to the children and continued on with the story. “They did in fact see each other again children. In fact, it was the very next day when they met again.” She clarified as she turned her sights to the forest. ::: I remember how it all happened. :::

 

 

The next morning after breakfast, Setsuyo brushed her black hair and tied it back into a high ponytail. As she prepared for the day, she couldn't help but think about the man that had been watching her the previous night. She was certain that she would not see him again but her mind never strayed away from him. She did think he was handsome but she didn't know him. Besides, she had a fiancé waiting when the battle was over. Soon enough her father would send a messenger to retrieve her, she'd bid farewell and thanks to Kikyo and young Kaede then return home to a wedding. She walked to the same meadow she had gone to the day before and relaxed there. She couldn't help but worry about her father, something told her something terrible was going to happen, but she couldn't figure out what.

 

From the forest, Inuyasha prepared to attack Kikyo's village but one thing lingered on his mind. The woman he saw yesterday would definitely be in the village. His heart told him not to harm her, let her live. ::: The hell am I thinking? She's a human! :::

 

“Inuyasha, what are you waiting on?”

 

“Nothing Sesshomaru. I'll be back with the sacred jewel and maybe a few human heads.”

 

With that, Inuyasha darted off towards Kikyo's village with his brother's eyes on his back. “Don't fail.” He murmured. Along the way as Inuyasha came closer to Kikyo's village, a demon intercepted Inuyasha. He was a silver haired demon with deep blue eyes, wearing all white. “Well well, I see it is the half demon I detest the most, Inuyasha. I suppose the idea of stealing the sacred jewel dawned on you as well.”

 

“Yeah it did. You know only one of us is going to leave with it and that one is going to be me. Unless you want to be something humans wipe off the bottom of their shoes, I suggest you get your sorry ass out of here. I won't tell you twice.”

 

Hakuoh's blue eyes narrowed into slits and his mouth unleashed a smile chuckle. “Your threats are as feeble as the human woman you were observing last night. You take after your father Inuyasha, thirsting for the company of a human woman.” He mocked. Inuyasha gritted his teeth at Hakuoh, now learning that he had sent a spy to watch Inuyasha's every move. How clever yet despicable. Inuyasha curled his fingers as if he were ready to swipe at Hakuoh. “I'll make you swallow those words!”

 

The two demons' fight before Kikyo's village was heard by all the villagers. “Sister Kikyo! The demons are outside the villagers but they are fighting each other!”

 

“What? Kaede, stay with Setsuyo, Setsuyo, you stay here.”

 

Kikyo snatched her bow and some arrows and headed for the meadow where the two demons fought along with some of the villagers. When they arrived, Hakuoh and Inuyasha stood apart, glaring at each other. “Priestess Kikyo, I wasn't expecting you. I suppose you also brought the sacred jewel with you.” Hakuoh presumed. Kikyo gave a small snort then aimed at the two feuding demons. “I will die before I surrender the sacred jewel to the likes of you. Be gone from this place and never return. If you refuse then I will have no other choice but to use force.”

 

Hakuoh snickered at Kikyo's threat then drew out his sword. “For a dog such as Inuyasha I can defeat barehanded. A lovely woman as yourself deserves a proper defeat. I'll try to make this as painless as possible.” He mocked. Kikyo released her sacred arrows at both Inuyasha and Hakuoh only to miss her targets. She targeted Inuyasha while the villagers targeted Hakuoh. Unfortunately, they were of no challenge to Hakuoh. He effortlessly wiped aside the humans then darted for the shrine where the Shikon Jewel was. “I can feel the power of the Jewel swelling here. It's mine now.”

 

As he reached for the Jewel, a voice was heard from behind. There stood the princess Setsuyo. “Don't you dare! You keep your filthy demonic hands off it!”

 

“Or what?”

 

Hakuoh walked closer to Setsuyo and she backed away in fear. A smile crossed his face as he looked into her terrified eyes. “Fear brings out the beauty in a woman. Her eyes become fuller, her breathing heightens and her body becomes stiff. Run from me.”

 

“I won't run. You disgusting demon!”

 

Hakuoh jerked Setsuyo forward and whispered into her ear. “No one is here to save you, girl. I could kill you with my finger. But there are more things I can do to you…with just my finger.” He murmured. Setsuyo jerked away from Hakuoh and smacked him across the face after hearing his remark. Instead of growing angry, Hakuoh smirked at her. “I liked that. Do it again.” He demanded. He drew her closer again only this time, his lips came closer to hers. Just when he was about to kiss her, Hakuoh shoved sent a wave of his demonic power at the alter, only to hear a scream coming from Kaede.

 

“Kaede run!”

 

“Setsuyo!”

 

Kaede took off with the Sacred Jewel in hand and Hakuoh pursuing her. She ran as fast as her legs could carry her but it wasn't enough, Hakuoh had intercepted her. “Do you want to die? Right here? Right now?” Hakuoh asked as he grabbed a hold of her throat and lifted her up. Kaede choked as he dangled from his grasp, her air supply become shorter and shorter as he tightened his grip. “Give me the jewel and I will let you live. Hurry girl, your life is dwindling.” He whispered somberly. Just as Kaede was about to take her last breath, an arrow pierce Hakuoh's back.

 

“Release the girl now!”

 

“Priestess! I see you've done the job of defeating that half breed Inuyasha, I commend you.”

 

It was when Hakuoh dropped Kaede that he noticed her hands were empty. Growling in fury, he kicked the child. “You little imp! Where is the Sacred Jewel!”

 

Elsewhere, Setsuyo ran as far as could in the opposite direction of the village. While Kaede was being held captive, she had dropped the Sacred Jewel. Setsuyo knew she had to hide the Jewel but where? Time was ticking and there wasn't enough for her to think. Just then, an idea popped into her head. “I'll do what I must if it means the protection of the Sacred Jewel.” She said. Taking off her gold locket, she smashed it against the Shikon Jewel and it shattered into pieces. After loading the pieces into her locket, she then she ran further until she came across a small house. It was a risk but if she were fast then her effort wouldn't cost the poor souls who lived there their lives. “Please! Someone help me!” She screamed. She continued to knock until a man and woman came to the door. “I don't have much time, I will give you all the money I have in exchange for one of your horses.” She offered. The man agreed to the exchange and took the money. Wasting little time, Setsuyo took a horse and rode even further. As she was riding, a wave of power knocked Setsuyo from her horse and she fell off.

 

“You've run from me long enough princess. I've enjoyed this little game of cat and mouse earnestly. But it ends here. Tell me what you've done with the Sacred Jewel.” Hakuoh demanded. Setsuyo moved away from Hakuoh but he moved toward her then finally picked her up off the ground. “Fine, if you refuse to tell me then I'll have to torture you until you do.”

 

Hakuoh grabbed Setsuyo by her black tresses and yanked her head to the side. “Such a beautiful girl…lets see how the color red suits you.” He taunted. Wasting little time, Hakuoh kissed Setsuyo's neck then sank his teeth into it. She began to whimper then groan out in pain. Her tears slid from her eyes but they had no effect on him. Until she would admit where she had hidden the Sacred Jewel, he'd continue the torture. His teeth sank deeper into her skin and her groans turned to screams. ::: Very strong willed she is but she will not escape this, no human can. :::

 

“Hakuoh let her go!”

 

Hakuoh looked up from Setsuyo's neck and glared at Inuyasha. Setsuyo looked up from the ground weakly and fixed her sights on Inuyasha. “The…man from the…waterfall.” She murmured. Hakuoh gripped Setsuyo's hair tightly without taking his eyes off Inuyasha. “This woman will die if you don't stand down Inuyasha. Do you want to see this beautiful woman perish?” He asked. Inuyasha frowned at Setsuyo's pleading eyes then glared at Hakuoh. He couldn't stand to see Setsuyo be harmed for being a bystander but he also didn't want him to know that he cared about that human. “Fine then, she dies now.”

 

“No!”

 

Before Inuyasha could react, a sacred arrow pierced Hakuoh's chest. Now was the time, Inuyasha ran to Setsuyo's side, gather her up into his arms and fled to the forest. Kikyo called out for Setsuyo, letting her mind drift off from Hakuoh and giving the chance to dart at her. Unfortunately he had been struck down by her arrow once more. Cursing the priestess, he fled from her to care over his wounds. “Damn, he got away with her.” Kikyo swore. She looked down at ground and knelt down. Setsuyo had dropped the locket with the Shikon Jewel shards in it. “Setsuyo…smart choice.”

 

Deep in the forest, Inuyasha carried the weakened Setsuyo. She had shut her eyes to rest after Inuyasha had saved her from Hakuoh's assault. ::: That bastard, putting his dirty hands on her. It's all right princess, you're safe now. I won't let that bastard Hakuoh come near you again. :::

 

“Sesshomaru! I see lord Inuyasha coming with someone! Look!”

 

Rin ran toward Inuyasha happily was Sesshomaru and Naraku not to far behind. How was he going to explain this? If Sesshomaru found out he cared for this woman he'd be endangering himself but more importantly, Setsuyo. “What a pretty girl. What is her name?”

 

“Yes, who is she Inuyasha? Why did you bring her here?”

 

Inuyasha looked down at Setsuyo then to Sesshomaru. “She is King Jinji's daughter, Setsuyo. It looks as if the king has sent her to be under the protection of the priestess Kikyo. I kidnapped her after being attacked by Kikyo, thought we could hold her for ransom. Kikyo wouldn't want to see this precious princess hurt, she'll have no other choice but to surrender the jewel to us.” Inuyasha lied. Sesshomaru looked at Setsuyo then at his brother. “A wise decision, I will take the girl for the night.” Sesshomaru said. Inuyasha's mind screamed at him to keep Setsuyo but he didn't want Sesshomaru to know the truth. He gave Setsuyo up to him without an argument and watched as Sesshomaru carried her away.

 

When she had awakened, Setsuyo found herself lying in a bed. She looked about the empty room and found nothing to her liking. Putting together the events that had taken place, she remembered everything. “That man…Inuyasha. He rescued me from that demon…Hakuoh. But why am in here?”

 

“You're here because you are being held captive by us. If you cooperate you'll live and be sent back to the priestess Kikyo. Don't think about running away, for if you do I will punish you severely until your body is numb pain.”

 

With that, Sesshomaru turned away and left the room. As Sesshomaru walked down the he came across Naraku and one of his men, Hiten. “I heard we had a princess here, thought I'd go take a look at her. Maybe she'd like to give me a bath. You wouldn't mind if I played a little with her would you lord Sesshomaru?” Hiten asked.

 

“Don't touch her, not yet. We decide our move tomorrow.”

 

Hiten shrugged then looked toward Setsuyo's room while licking his lips. “You won't be about to escape me for long vixen. Lord Sesshomaru will let me have my way with you soon enough.” He whispered.

 

Inside his room, Inuyasha tossed and turned on his bed, worried about Setsuyo's safety. It was a gamble bringing her here but he would have better luck with her here then to let Hakuoh have his teeth buried in her again. Tomorrow a plan will be concocted. He just prayed that he would be able to protect the princess from the wrath of his comrades in secrecy.
