She couldn't sleep with thoughts of earlier fresh on her mind. The disappointment in Inuyasha's eyes and the victory on Sesshomaru's face were on the peak of her thoughts. She knew Inuyasha would never hold her the way he use to or whisper that he loved her. Setsuyo stirred in her lonely bed yearning for Inuyasha's arms to wrap around her. But those nights had come to an end, shattered by the malicious actions of Inuyasha's brother. Getting to her feet, Setsuyo walked to her window and looked out to the night sky. She had to get away from here but at the same time, she wanted to settle things with Inuyasha. ::: What's the point? Inuyasha hates me, Naraku wants to kill me and Sesshomaru wants to make me his puppet. I can't go on like this, I have to escape. :::

Setsuyo dressed herself in one of the dresses that Sesshomaru had given her. She put on a black dress with one strap and a cut going up her thigh. She put on her hair into a high ponytail and gloves on her hands. Now that she was dressed, she made her escape. Quietly, she crept out of her window and fled into the forest. Thankfully, Inuyasha had told her where the demons were that guard the castle.

::: If there is ever a time that you need to escape while I'm not with you, follow the blue candles. They will lead you out into the open and at the waterfall. You'll be safe there. :::

::: But you're not coming for me this time Inuyasha. :::

Setsuyo raced through the path that was lit by the blue candles and found her way to the waterfall. Exhausted from running, she collapsed to her knees and took time to get a drink and cool off. As she was scooping up water, she looked into the water and saw Inuyasha's face. His handsome smile and charming gold eyes painted the water. She shook her head and slapped at the water, cursing herself to be charmed by a half breed demon. “Why didn't you come to save me Inuyasha? I thought you loved me. Was everything you said to me a lie? What's real and what's not? Goddamn you!” She yelled out. She pulled her hands to her face and just as she was going to cry, she realized something in her right hand. Opening her palm, her eyes lit up with surprise.

Elsewhere, the silver haired half demon tossed and turned in his bed, unable to sleep. He was so hurt by his brother's actions that he had taken his disgust out on Setsuyo as well. He wanted to slowly torture his brother for hurting Setsuyo the way he did then go to his princess and hold her, soothe away her heartache. Getting up from his bed, Inuyasha left his room in search of the beautiful princess he loved. He stopped at her door and was about to know on it but instead, he ran back to his room and found what he was looking for. It was a rare gem that he and his brother had stolen many years before from a water demon. The blue sapphire sparkled beautifully in his hand and he was positive. This was the ring he would use to propose to Setsuyo. After he apologized she would surely say yes. Screw Naraku's plan, he would find the last shard on his own and become human so that their love would flourish without the rejection of others. He would do it to prove his love for her was eternal. Returning to her room, Inuyasha slowly unlocked the door. “Setsuyo? Are you awake? Setsuyo?” Inuyasha called out. He stepped in and lit a candle only to find that the princess was gone. “This can't be!”

Inuyasha turned to find Setsuyo but he collided with Naraku. “She has escaped?”

“Yeah she did. I will go and bring her back. She's my woman.”

Naraku stepped aside to let Inuyasha pass but an arrogant remark stopped the half breed in his place. “What was that?” He asked, turning angrily back to his comrade. “You heard me Inuyasha. You've become soft just like your father when he fell for that human woman. That girl is using you and you let her do it. She hid the last shard when she went to retrieve it from the shrine. She doesn't love you, she wants to kill you.” Naraku said. Inuyasha's eyes lit with fury as he listened to Naraku make up hideous lies about Setsuyo. Though he was unconscious from Hiten's assault, he was sure that Setsuyo would never deceive him. “Shut your mouth Naraku! Don't you ever speak of Setsuyo like that. She would never betray me. She loves me and I love her. Speak like that about her again and I will coat my claws with your blood demon.”

“Is that a threat?”

“I don't make threats I keep promises.”

With that being said, Inuyasha left the castle in search of the runaway princess that was his love. Naraku on the other hand, only smiled at the foolish demon. The princess was going to do all the work for him. Hiten wouldn't be the last demon he'd kill. Soon that idiot Sesshomaru would die by his hands, then Hakuoh and finally the two lovers. Yes, in the end he would have the last laugh and everyone's head on a silver platter. But first, he had to have a talk with Sesshomaru about his deceitful younger brother.

There were still so many questions in her head. What would she do now? Where would she go? Returning to the village would be useless since Kikyo was out to kill her. She could never go back to Inuyasha now and Hakuoh was still after the sacred jewel shards as well. There he had to be some place she could go. “I wonder where Hakuoh would be.” Setsuyo asked as she got up. She began walking away from the waterfall but stopped dead her tracks. She jumped to the side and slammed up against a tree, avoiding a sacred arrow that Kikyo had shot at her. “We meet again priestess!”

“Yes princess. I see you are well.”

Setsuyo frowned and crossed her arms. When she did that, Kikyo noticed a sudden change in her. “Why did you do it Setsuyo? You don't know what you're doing. Return it to me!”

“Why should I? I like this new change in me. I did this so I can be free of Inuyasha, Sesshomaru, Naraku, Hakuoh and you. You'll be the first to experience what I can do Kikyo. Behold!”

“Not so fast princess!”

“What the hell!”

The last thing Setsuyo saw was the devious blue eyes of the demon Hakuoh. He had struck her across the face, knocking her unconscious. It angered Kikyo to see him but she knew what he was planning. Killing two birds with one stone would be so much better. “Inuyasha will definitely come after her if what you say is true. They will surely want the last shard. Lets go prepare.” Hakuoh said as he carried the unconscious princess away. When they had gone already, Inuyasha had arrived. He searched around the waterfall but Setsuyo was not there. Then it hit him. The scent of his enemy was still fresh in the area. That bastard Hakuoh had taken Setsuyo when she ran away. Inuyasha vowed to bring her back, without the help of his friends. He knew they would surely kill him for his betrayal but he didn't care. He would die for Setsuyo. Inuyasha raced towards Hakuoh's hideout, encountering his demon soldiers. With ease, Inuyasha obliterated them and headed straight for the entrance but he was stopped with Kikyo shot a sacred arrow at him. “Stop right where you are half demon Inuyasha. You may have the princess back after you've returned the Sacred Jewel fragments.”

“Like hell I will!”

Kikyo shot another sacred arrow at him but Inuyasha easily dodged them. He jumped up on the roof of the castle and grabbed Kikyo's bow. The two struggled for it but in the end, Kikyo was able to take it back by shoving Inuyasha over the edge. She cursed her enemy when he landed on his feet and smiled coolly to her. “You're gonna have to try hard than that if you're going to kill me Kikyo! Why don't you come down here and finish me off!”

“Fine, I will do just that then.”

Kikyo turned to come downstairs to Inuyasha but a scream of pain coming from above startled Inuyasha. He jumped up to see what had happened and there he saw them. Kikyo lying on the ground and Setsuyo standing over her. “Setsuyo! Is that you?”

“Yes, it is I my dearest Inuyasha.”

Inuyasha ran to Setsuyo and took her into his arms. Setsuyo tilted her face up for a kiss and Inuyasha replied. As they were kissing, Inuyasha felt a sharp pain in his stomach. He tried to pull away from her but Setsuyo held onto him then shoved him away. “Amazing what a dragon's tooth can do. The saliva from the dragon's mouth immobilizes anything it touches. I'd give you a few words to say to me before I kill you but you'll probably want to know why.” Setsuyo knelt down in front of Inuyasha and kicked at his chest. “I'm just getting even with you for what you let your brother do to me. I forgave you when you raped me but to sit and watch your older brother do it… I can't forgive you. You deceived me. You used me to get the sacred jewel shard and then toss me aside like a little puppet. Was that al I was to you?!?! A puppet?!?!”

“It wasn't like that! I know I should have done something but I didn't. I'm sorry Setsuyo.”

“Everyone is sorry when they're on the verge of death. Inuyasha there is nothing more you can say to me.”

Setsuyo grabbed Inuyasha by the throat and carried him over to the edge of castle, preparing to throw him off. “Good bye… my love… my enemy.” The princess whispered. She released Inuyasha and watched as he fell to his death, or what she thought to be his end. The saliva from the dragon's tooth had dissolved and Inuyasha had regained feeling in his body. He landed on his feet then launched himself back to the top of the castle. Setsuyo tried running but Inuyasha tackled her to her feet. The two rolled on the ground trying to pin one another but Inuyasha's strength had overpowered Setsuyo. “Look at me Setsuyo! Look into my eyes now! I said look at me!”

“No!! Get the fuck off me! Then fine! Kill me because I want you dead!”

“I'm not going to kill you because I love you. Setsuyo why did you do it? Why did you do this?!” Inuyasha grabbed her hand and lifted her arm up, revealing the jewel shard implanted in her wrist. “What were you planning to do with this? Kill the one that loves you. I know what I did was wrong and I'm sorry. I was coming to your room to apologize to you! I wanted to give you this!” Inuyasha reached into his pocket, took out the sapphire ring he found for her and placed it on her finger. “I got this for you Setsuyo! I love you!”

Setsuyo's eyes formed tears and they began to fall from her eyes. She stopped struggling and looked up at him. She tried to hide the tears by looking to the side and letting her hair cover her face but Inuyasha released her left wrist to move the hair from her face. Setsuyo sat up and looked up at Inuyasha. “Please Inuyasha, lets run away… lets get out of here take the shards from Sesshomaru's castle and leave. We can escape now.” Setsuyo said. She sat up and smiled at him. She forgave him and he forgave her and now they were going to do it. Setsuyo jumped to her feet and helped Inuyasha up to his. “Let's get out of here princess.” Inuyasha said. Setsuyo nodded and took his hand but she quickly released it to stand in front of him. Kikyo had regained consciousness and was ready to put an end to her enemies. “To hell with the both of you!”

Kikyo shot her sacred arrow at Inuyasha and Setsuyo but they jumped off the edge of the castle. As they were falling, Hakuoh charged at them with his sword in hand. Inuyasha was forced to release Setsuyo so that he could fight off Hakuoh but she landed safely on her feet. She ran to aid Inuyasha but more arrows were launched at her. Growling with anger, Setsuyo turned around and glared at the priestess. “I've had enough of you, goddamn bitch.” The princess said as she slowly approached the priestess. “I'll send you to be with your fallen prince.” Kikyo said. Setsuyo frowned at Kikyo and held out her hand. In it fell a sword. Kikyo narrowed her eyes at the princess and asked that she tell her where she had found it from. “When Hiten killed Aoki they forgot to toss his body from the cliff. So his body was left behind. I decided to take this sword and use it to my advantage. You will be the first to fall to the blade. Prepare yourself priestess!” The princess warned her. Kikyo did just that and loaded another arrow into her bow. Kikyo's eyes narrowed at her target and she released her arrows on her but her target had swiftly evaded them. With back flips and cartwheels, Setsuyo had angered with priestess. “It's my turn now!” Setsuyo screamed. She ran straight at Kikyo and tackled her off her feet. “I should kill you for what you've done to Aoki but it won't bring him back. It maybe too late to say this but this fight is meaningless.”

“So why say it?”

Setsuyo released Kikyo and sat up. “Because if I kill you then the villagers will hunt me for revenge. I have a favor to ask of you Priestess Kikyo.” Setsuyo stood to her feet and Kikyo got to her feet, bow still in hand. “What is it Princess Setsuyo?” She asked. Setsuyo dropped her hand then took a deep breath. “I am in love with the half demon Inuyasha. I will help you with the sacred jewel shard planted in my wrist to destroy Hakuoh. In return, I will return the sacred jewel shard to you.”

“You planned to use it so that Inuyasha would be human. If that is what you wish then I will do so.”

Setsuyo looked toward Kikyo then shook her head. “I don't want that. I feel in love with a half demon. I intend to marry him and spend the rest of my life with him. He's up there fighting for me and when he wins, I'll be here with open arms. So Kikyo, will you help me?” The princess asked. She extended her hand to the priestess and she took it, shaking hands with her and sealing their deal.
