InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Imperfect Love ❯ Prologue - Winter's Day ( Chapter 1 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

A/N: HI!!! You know, I had made up my mind not to write another Inuyasha story and try my hand at others, but damn muse wouldn't leave me alone ^_^ Almost ALL of the stories I have written till now are Inuyasha; the one I've already posted and the ones I have yet to edit.

Ok, first of all, this story is a sort of alternate reality in the feudal era. Kagome is a normal girl, NOT from the future. Ayume, Yuka and Eri are her friends in the feudal era. There is no sacred jewel or quest for it. The characters may be slightly OOC. Sorry about that but I've already planned out the whole story and for it to work, they have to be like that.

Secondly, there WILL be smut in the story though it's not a PWP (Porn Without Plot). The chapters will contain appropriate warnings.

Also, the main pairing is Sess/Kag though it starts off as Inu/Kag.

Enjoy!!

DISCLAIMER: Inuyasha does not belong to me and I make no money from the writing of this fanfic. Also, the song It Must Have Been Love by Roxette does not belong to me.

Prologue - Winter's Day

Kagome Higurashi woke up slowly from her dream with a lazy smile on her face. And as soon as she woke up properly, she was stunned. She had never had a dream like that before. It was amazing, extraordinary. It was about a……..boy.

It must have been love…but it's over now...

Kagome allowed her eyes to glaze over slightly as she remembered it. It was beautiful. Perfect. But…the boy was wrong. The boy was Inuyasha. She remembered the soft touch and warm eyes and piercing look and she thought, the eyes…Inuyasha can never have eyes like that. She stared out her window. There was a light mist due to the winter and the outlines of everything were slightly blurry. She let the dream play over and over in her mind. I never want to forget it. She thought. Let me never forget it.

Lay a whisper…on my pillow
Leave the winter
on the ground

She wondered. I have never met a man with eyes like that, then how do I know. It seems as though I know him…from somewhere.

I wake up lonely, there's air of silence
In the bedroom…
and all around

She sighed and pulled the blanket closer to her. She was cold. And it wasn't just the chill of winter. She closed her eyes and remembered her dream.

Touch me now, I close my eyes
And dream away

I think…I must have been in love before…someday…that is how I remember. Otherwise how would I know, what it feels like to be in love…

She had never even had a crush on any boy in the village. Her friends, who fell in and out of love almost every week, teased her about it. She never minded it. She believed in true love- the real thing, not sappy romances. For some reasons, stories of demons' romances had always fascinated her. Although people in the village said that demons were heartless and unbelievably cruel, in her heart, she had never believed it.

It must have been lovebut it's over now
It must have been good but I lost it somehow

In here dream, she was with her family, playing cards like they used to when she was a little girl. Her grandpa, her mom and her brother. But in here dream, there was someone else as well…a boy. It was very obvious they were in love because he was lying sideways, head propped u on his hand and she was lying with her head resting on his chest. Her family was smiling warmly at them both. They were a team. She looks up to smile at him and he looks into her eyes, his eyes filled with love and knowing and she thinks…I have finally found you…I have been searching for so long…

It must have been love but…it's over now
From the moment we touched `til the time had run out

And she woke up.

Make-believingwe're together
That I'm sheltered
by your heart

She closed her eyes and she could almost feel his presence. His warm arms around her, his smiling face, piercing eyes that said, I know you…you don't have to hide anymore because I know you…Her throat was suddenly tight.

But in and outside
I've turned to water
Like a teardrop
in your palm

She shut her eyes tightly, bowed her head and wished. I wish you were here RIGHT NOW…I wish you were with me. But she opened her eyes and she was alone in her room. She felt the pang of loneliness in her heart.

And it's a hard…winter's day
I dream away

She got out of bed and in her white yukata, went to the door and stepped out into the front yard barefoot. She loved walking on the ground barefoot. She felt somehow….connected to the earth. She breathed in the fresh, cool winter air and felt clean.

It must have been lovebut it's over now
It was all that I wanted, now I'm living without
It must have been love
but it's over now
It's where the water flows
It's where the wind blows

She wondered if the strange weather had anything to do with her dream. As a miko, she was unusually attuned to nature. Her moods responded and changed according to it sometimes and she was one of those who felt the subtle changes in the weather. And today was no ordinary winter's day. Today, there was something. The wind carried a message. She let the cold wind blow on her flimsy yukata and she felt the difference. She felt the magic in the air.

It must have been love…but it's over now
It must have been good
but I lost it somehow

Only her mother knew about her strange connection with nature. One friend of hers, Eri, knew it a bit but was afraid to find out more so Kagome didn't tell her. If she had told anyone else, they would have called her mad, superstitious. But Kagome was not superstitious. She just believed in strange things…different things. Like reincarnation and magic and mysteries in nature.

It must have been love…
but it's over now
From the moment we touched `til the time had run out

She wondered…where are you right now…is today the day… I will meet you…again?

It must have been lovebut it's over now
It was all that I wanted, now I'm living without
Kagome felt the beauty of the moment, the peace of the winter morning and felt empty.

It must have been love but it's over now
It's where the water flows
It's where the wind blows
