InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Inutaisho Legacy ❯ Romances and Regret ( Chapter 9 )

Whew a lot of crap going on in rl, folks. Family issues are the further worst area, but some weird things cropping up at work is the other area. I remain vigilant to be a better person, but the insane chaotic nips of Mercury's Retrograde has me anxious and upset. This has come out in a wrong way regarding one of my Rurouni Kenshin one-shots. My reviewers are all fine people and I will attempt to listen to all grains of knowledge they give me.
I will make an attempt to update before Christmas, but if I don't, please don't hurt me! (laugh) I am valiantly trying to fulfill my promise to update once a week or so. Next week is Yule and whether you celebrate the solstice, or Christ's birthday, have a happy holiday if I haven't updated again before that time.
Honored place for reviewers:
All thanks and kudos to the wondrous InuSkye, for supplying the basic plot for this story and continuing to urge me to write. Check out her latest update to Operation: Inu Crime. Some sexy sacrilicious entanglements involved.
Silvery Rin with the Butterfly Wings: you know you get special kudos (wink). Inutaro is a dream baby isn't he? I hope you like the domestic scenes within as always ^_^ And I vow to be a little nicer to Miroku in the long run. Most people don't seem to understand that three kids is a lot of work! Coming from a household of four children (I am elder in a set of twins as well) I can honestly say chaos runs abounds each day with a large number of siblings :P Heh heh….

Saaaaal! You had some good things to say about Sessh. As long as I'm not making him seem horribly out of character, continue to uplift my confidence! (laugh) I miss your old comment. Why oh why? (mock sob)
Donald: Thank you for reviewing!
InuGrrl….standing ovation for this inu! She continues to make me smile and crack up at my monitor, further convincing my roommate I am even more insane in the membrane :P But this girl is a riot! You know you want to spread the craziness! Pretty please with Foxy on top?
Disclaimer: Penpaninu does not claim to own Inuyasha in any way shape or form, but does claim to be Inu. Penpaninu also is not making ANY money whatsoever on this little thing out of my crazed mind.
“The Inutaisho Legacy” chapter nine
Romances and Regret
Kaede and Jii-chan swept the Higurashi shrine courtyard, exchanging soft gazes. Jii-chan blushed and mumbled to himself as he briskly swept his assigned area. He swept right on by a loafing Inuyasha, holding his son in the crook of one arm, and leaning back against a pillar of the shrine insolently.
Inuyasha grinned to himself, as he rocked Inutaro back and forth, listening to his gurgles of happiness. With Kikyo's little sister around, Jii-chan was rightly occupied mentally and otherwise and he could do what he wanted under the pretense of work.
“Then again, you're all work, right, pup?” Inuyasha smiled. Inutaro blinked, looking up at his father then he grinned showing off his gums. Inuyasha settled one fingertip, mindful of his claw, into his son's mouth and let him nibble briskly. Inutaro babbled highly, and clasped Inuyasha's hand with his smaller ones to still his hand for his mouth. Inuyasha smiled and leaned down to kiss his son's sweet-smelling brow. Jii-chan wasn't even paying attention so he eased his son's hat off and nuzzled the hair around his puppy ears.
Inutaro squealed, drawing the attention of several old women visiting. Inuyasha sighed and resettled the cap over the traces of Inutaro's youkai heritage and stood, presenting his son for maternal inspection.
“Oh, look at his eyes! He's so adorable. He looks just like you!” Inuyasha only smiled and held his pup up like a trophy. Inutaro's legs wriggled in the air and he formed a small sound of disagreement. The women fell over that for some reason.
“Well, he's got to go inside to be fed. Thanks for your patronage!” Inuyasha smiled genially, cradling Inutaro to his shoulder. His son fisted handfuls of his shirt and giggled as he was bounced along back to the house. The old women cooed and waved and Inuyasha sighed, sliding into the kitchen.
“Well, your Jii-chan likes you around so his shrine can profit that's for sure! But I'm sure even you get bored of that, hmm?” Inuyasha said conversationally. Inutaro batted one small hand against his shoulder and cried out.
“Uhmm!” he said importantly and panted in eagerness as his father warmed a bottle of formula over the stove. Kagome had begun to wean her son from breast milk a few weeks ago and it had taken some nights of screaming and tantrums, but Inutaro found he had to make due with what he had.
Inuyasha reflected with a blush on his face that finally only he would be getting Kagome's breasts all to himself. Inutaro kicked his small feet, waiting for his bottle. His small babbles made Inuyasha smile, even if they were somewhat loud to his sensitive ears.
Kaede slid open the kitchen door and walked in, smoothing out her red and white shrine robes. “Inuyasha, how is he doing today?” she asked, her craggy face split in a wide grin.
Inuyasha, sitting on the kitchen table and cradling his son to feed him, smiled widely. “He's doing fine, as usual. He got used to the formula pretty quickly.”
Kaede walked over and stroked the revealed ears on Inutaro's head. They twitched as he tried to focus on the important task of getting formula into his tummy. But he did so love having his ears stroked….
Kaede's good eye narrowed seriously and she sat at the kitchen table across from the hanyou. “I had been giving thought to the young Lady Rin's situation, Inuyasha. If it is not impertinent to bring up, I was sure Kagome-chan would like to hear my thoughts on the matter.”
Inuyasha's ears perked up. “You had another idea? Like what?” Inutaro pushed the bottle away and made a face. Inuyasha brought him to his shoulder and adjusted a rag under his boy before rubbing his small back. A loud burp made the father smile and he settled Inutaro back in the crook of his arm. Inutaro curled his feet to his chest and gurgled.
“Oh merely more herb formations, nothing too interesting I dare say,” Kaede chuckled. “But perhaps some purification could help as well….”
“That could just kill off Sesshomaru's seed,” Inuyasha commented off-hand, not finding the subject going back to his brother fun at all.
“Perhaps so…this is a complicated situation,” Kaede murmured, clasping her gnarled fingers together.
Inuyasha's eyes narrowed, thinking of his brother's half-assed apology. If it was meant to be an apology.
“I know what you mean.”
“This calls for some further thought, but I'm sure we can think of something for Rin,” Kaede said, reaching to tickle Inutaro's feet. Inuyasha gave the old priestess an askewed smile.
“So I notice you've been lodging with Jii-chan lately,” he grinned wickedly. Kaede blushed like a maiden.
“I dare ask if that is any of your business, Inuyasha!” Kaede said sternly. Inuyasha teased her until Mama came in with bags of groceries.

Daisuke waved, as he and Shun approached the village Shippou was living at. The villagers greeted the hunters with reverence and Hida approached the slender muscular men with amiable greetings.
“We've come on behalf of the exterminator village to extend protection,” Daisuke said smoothly, bowing at the waist. Shun let one hand rest on his straight sword's hilt, smiling agreeably. Young women peeked around the large farmer, giggling.
Hida turned around and growled at the group of teenagers. “You have chores to do! Go help your mother!” The girls squealed and scattered, not without flashing eager looks to the young hunters.
Daisuke's heart thudded. Maybe Miroku sent him and Shun here to the kitsune's village not only for protection reasons. Shun seemed to have come to the same conclusion for his white teeth flashed in a wide grin.
Hida scratched at the side of his bushy beard and glowered menacingly at the young men. Kyoko, watching the newcomers with her sisters now a safe distance away, could only reflect that he was dry and sober so the hunters should watch their staring.
“So you say you've come to help watch our borders? Well then, you must come to speak to our village elder,” Hida suggested, crossing burly arms across his wide chest. Daisuke bowed his head and shouldered his yari, following the tall farmer to a hut in the center of the village. Shun smiled at his side, as girls continued to ogle them from the safety of their fields or huts.
“It will be good hunting for us, Daisuke,” Shun whispered. Daisuke blushed and nodded his agreement. Shun kept up a steady talk of youkai hunting throughout the region as they came to the elder's hut. Hida stood by the door and ushered the young men inside. Daisuke and Shun left their weapons outside as a token of trust and stepped through the flap.
Shippou came up beside Kyoko, his head only coming up to her shoulder. “What was that all about? Your sisters are acting funny,” he complained lightly. Kyoko turned to him and pressed a kiss to the top of her fiancee's red hair.
“Two hunters from your family's village came to help patrol the borders,” she giggled, twirling a lock of Shippou's topknot. His sharp eyes followed her movements.
“Heh, was it Tatsumaru or Ataru? Your sisters should watch out then,” Shippou commented, remembering the ways Ataru spied on Sango's every movement.
“No, it was Daisuke and Shun.”
“Well then! I'm sure Miroku sent them here for another reason than hunting youkai,” Shippou said with a twinkle in his eye,
Kyoko blushed and twisted her hands together. “Speaking of which… do you think I should come by later to treat your headache?”
“What headache?” Shippou asked then realization dawned. “You're wicked, my love.”
Kyoko giggled and winked.

Inuyasha wasn't sure what he was going to do about the whole Rin situation. The Rin Situation easily leaked over to the Sesshomaru and Rin Situation and he wasn't sure he wanted to touch the whole affair since it did link to said Sesshomaru. Inuyasha walked into the living room of the Higurashi house with burdens heavy on his mind and in his heart. But seeing his mate holding their pup over her breasts while lying on her back on the floor made him smile instantly.
“Try and sit up…. come on, baby, you can do it. Mama's got you!” Kagome whispered, pressing a kiss to Inutaro's brow. Inutaro lifted his head and squealed highly. Inuyasha's ears twitched and he stepped into the room, tatami mats scratching his bare feet. Kagome smiled over the top of Inutaro's head and rubbed his back.
“You look happy,” she commented wryly. Inuyasha smirked and sat at Kagome's side, rubbing Inutaro's back. His hand wandered down over to Kagome's side and he tickled his family.
“Well, not so much except when I'm with you two,” Inuyasha murmured. Kagome rolled on her side, carefully depositing the baby on the floor and Inuyasha leaned on one elbow to face them. His finger was deposited to Inutaro who latched onto it with his mouth.
Kagome laughed and reached over the baby to touch Inuyasha's cheek. “Cheer up okay, love? We're here for you.”
Inuyasha laughed a little and kissed her fingertips. “Does that mean we're going to go to the bath house again?” Kagome curled against their son and planted a kiss on his ears.
“Heee heee!” Inutaro giggled, rolling on his back and sticking his tongue out. Kagome seemed to share his opinion and pursed her lips at her husband.
“Is that the only way you want me to be there for you?” she teased. Inuyasha shook his head.
“No…if you just smile at me or touch my hand…” Inuyasha's claws tenderly touched Kagome's fingertips. “Then I am whole…”
“I love you, Inuyasha,” Kagome whispered. Inuyasha wrapped his family into his arms tightly. Inutaro buried his face into his father's chest and drooled a puddle.

Daisuke and Shun came back to the village with news of their day's extermination ready at hand. The rest of Hida's brood of girls hailed them as heroes and followed the men all day, hoping for a moment alone with so interesting a suitor. Hida couldn't watch all of his daughters all day and Kyoko noticed that Satsuki and Akane had doubled their efforts together to get close to the hunters. Shippou could only wryly tell his fiancée that her sisters had better watch it or they would get more than they thought they would.
Kyoko only laughed. “I had to fight both of those two off over who would wind up with you. Aren't you glad I won?” Shippou grinned as Kyoko ran a finger down his chest.
“You're still not too sore are you?” Shippou asked softly, tracing a hand up Kyoko's thigh. Kyoko blushed but sidled up next to the kitsune. She whispered something into his pointed ear and nibbled the lobe.
Hida walked by suddenly, making the blushing kitsune retract his hand from Kyoko's thigh and demanded help in the fields. Kyoko squeezed Shippou close when her father started without them, sliding her thighs around him. Shippou's eyes rolled back as he stiffened against her.
“Aren't you two coming out here or what??” Hida growled. Shippou tugged Kyoko off of him and straightened his sash.
Daisuke sat near the edge of the fields, sharpening the blade on his yari. Akane snuck up behind him. The hunter paused and smiled, holding up his whetstone and angling it.
“If you're thinking of sneaking up on me, you'll have to do better,” he invited with a laugh. Akane blushed and sat beside him, smoothing her short yukata over her knees.
“How are you enjoying our home, Daisuke-san?” the teenager asked, smoothing her hair back. Daisuke tapped the end of his yari like a staff and leaned it back against his wide shoulders.
“My friends and I are used to extending protection to other communities,” Daisuke said smoothly. Akane hung onto his every word, her eyes going to his strong hands. “And I am finding the company pleasant while I am away from my current home…” these words were uttered while touching the girl's cheek with the back of his knuckles.
Akane turned red and watched him with serious innocent eyes. “Will you be joining my family tonight?” she whispered. Daisuke nodded.
“I hope you don't think my presence an intrusion,” he said. Akane shook her head and parted her lips to speak. Daisuke leaned forward and closed the gap between them. His lips met hers and the two melded together.

Miroku leaned back against the high wall of the exterminator's village, his feet crossed at the ankles as he plucked his mandala bead by bead. It was unfortunate he decided to unleash Daisuke and Shun out to Shippou's village, in his mind's eye letting them have time alone with all of the girls there, but at least his eldest daughter listened to Tatsumaru. The tall exterminator was as reliable as Daisuke and he was content to let Hikaru have her own patrols around the woods with him in his employee's absence.
Miroku smiled, looking out over the grass. Sango was moving outside of their house, without Nozomi or Souta. Miroku greeted her with a smile. Sango sat opposite him and rubbed his thighs through his hakama.
“Where are the children?” he asked contently, enjoying his wife's closeness. Sango untied her long hair from its band and smiled. “They're asleep inside, Miroku. What are you doing out here?”
Miroku gestured out around at their house, the huts, the gardens and the graves. “Just surveying our village. What are you doing?” he asked, his lips pulling up in a smile. Sango straddled his waist and cradled his face in her hands.
“How long before Tatsumaru, Ataru and Yusaku return with our daughter?” Sango whispered. Miroku watched her with hooded eyes and kissed her longingly. His hands reached down and squeezed Sango's rear, holding her against him.
“They shouldn't be due back…in a few moment's time,” Miroku said hopefully. His hands reached up and tugged his wife's yukata down her shoulders. Smooth cream-colored flesh still trim and taut even after three children met his hungry eyes and greedy hands. His huntress was surely a blessing of the kami. Not even the small telltale scars that adorned her body, that surely matched his own moments of danger across his flesh, could mar her physical beauty.
Miroku sat up, his rigid arousal nudging his wife. He moaned deeply when she parted his lips and sucked on his tongue. “Sango…. it's been too long,” he whispered huskily. Sango smiled brightly and opened his haori, tugging at the sash to his hakama.
“I don't want to say be quick, husband…but the children are only napping,” Sango murmured. Miroku's head tilted back and thunked against the high wooden wall as she nipped at his neck, kissing sensitive spots on his shoulders. His hands were busy over her curves, squeezing and molding them to memory lest they have another long break in between. Sango nestled her chin in Miroku's dark hair as he lowered his head to pay homage to her breasts. Her fingers twined against his scalp.
The sun arched high in the sky as Miroku hovered over his wife, smiling tenderly. Sango rested on her back, her hair fanned out around her. The grass towered over her and Miroku leaned down between her thighs, holding his weight above her with his palms. His lips grazed hers and Sango clutched his back. Their kiss deepened and they moved together, Miroku's hardened length carefully filling her. Miroku's head lifted and his eyes crossed.
“It's been too long…” Sango whispered breathlessly, her chest heaving. Miroku nodded, groaning his pleasure lowly. His chest muscles stood prominent, his toned arms keeping him from crushing his wife. Sango sighed, rubbing her hands up and down his back, her legs lifting to hold him close. They moved together into an easy rhythm of thrust and slide. Sango stared up the sky, her vision brightening as she tightened her thighs around Miroku's urgent thrusts, moaning softly as she came suddenly.
Miroku roared in agreement, holding his weight on his elbows and slamming his hips down into Sango. Sango kissed his neck tenderly, holding him close.
“That was very needed….” Miroku sighed gratefully, smoothing his fingertips over the contours of his huntress' face. Sango pulled him down for a kiss. The kami were with them that afternoon as they were not rushed, or hurried to hide their pale bodies from anyone returning early.
Miroku took his wife's hand, smiling after they clothed themselves and led her to the house to watch over their children.

Sesshomaru could not begin to express his thoughts over the current addition to the Situation as it was so aptly named in his and his brother's minds. His half-brother and his wife and child had made it to the Inu Palace to reveal further thought and strategy to solve the Western Lady's predicament.
Rin of course was delighted to see Kagome and her family, and it seared Sesshomaru's heart to watch her wistfully cradle Inutaro, her dark eyes bright with the hope she would someday have her own pup. Kagome Woman only tried to show him ridiculous herb potions and concoctions he had no mind to follow. He was only assured as a priestess, she knew what she was doing.
“Just make her ready for my seed,” Sesshomaru murmured. Kagome nodded, glossing over any rudeness if he showed it in his tone.
“I think I'm onto something here however! So calm down, Sesshomaru,” Kagome said lightly. Sesshomaru regarded her impassionately.
Inuyasha sat with Rin and his son, carefully monitoring her progress with a child. Kagome and Sesshomaru watched them across the way then met each other's eyes briefly.
Kagome focused her gaze back down on her slender hands and the herbs before her. Sesshomaru knelt across from her, silent as ever. She wasn't sure if she should mention the strange dreams she was having recently. Familiar voices told her she held the answers as she always did, but they would resurface. `When the right time came.' Kagome sighed. Slowly, with early motherhood and the defeat of Naraku…. even staying with Sesshomaru under their brief unwanted time together, she was thrust into maturity and hints of wisdom before her time. Something told her she would unravel the dreams, and see this small journey through.
Sesshomaru's hand fisted on his knee in front of her and Kagome looked up into his golden eyes. “This Sesshomaru has given words of apology to your mate. This Sesshomaru wishes to extend those words to you, as you share the life's bond with him….”
Kagome's jaw dropped as Sesshomaru stood, his white kimono sweeping around him. Had he…apologized to her?? Involuntarily in his own pompous way, for sure, but she was certain she had seen traces of regret in his golden timeless eyes.
Kagome stood to join her husband, taking her son in her arms. Once they were put up for the night, Rin found her Lord and stood by his side silently.
“You spoke with the Lady Kagome, my Lord Sesshomaru?” she asked elegantly. Sesshomaru nodded.
“This Sesshomaru has…. Apologized for his deeds,” he whispered. Rin touched his hand and then tucked her arm in the crook of his. They watched the sun set for long moments and turned to kiss for even longer moments. Sesshomaru, though apprehensive for the future of their intended offspring, was oddly content in his mate's arms. Rin smiled and hugged him close.
End for now
