The Last Episode (My Version)

What’s happened so far: The battle between Naraku and Inuyasha has finally begun. Sango and Miroku are battling the smaller demons to give Inuyasha and Kagome time to get to Naraku. Kirara is in her full demon form with Shippo on her back, clearing a path for them while keeping an eye out for Kagome. Inuyasha has made it to Naraku and the fight’s on. They are both fighting their hardest. Naraku, now in his full demon form as a spider, is considerably stronger thanks to the Shikon Jewel he now possesses. As Kagome enters the fight with her sacred arrows, Naraku recognizes her as a greater threat and decides to kill her before she kills him. She fires an arrow at him, and it hits one of his legs, but it’s not enough to slow him down. Before she can grab another arrow, Naraku is upon her. He reaches out with one of his legs to finish her off. She hears someone scream her name and closes her eyes, hoping not to see her obvious fate. Blood pours onto the ground. Kagome opens her eyes to see Inuyasha, with a hold on Naraku’s arm that had already pierced through his body. She cries to him, and he tells her to run. She nods in agreement and runs to a safer distance. Naraku flings Inuyasha into a tree with such force that the tree trunk breaks in half, sending him into a pile of rocks that was behind it. Kagome runs toward him. She gets there in time to see that he is pushing himself up with his Tetsusaiga. She pleads for him to slow down, but he refuses. Sango and Miroku have finally cleared out the lesser demons and are ready to join the fight. Sango sends her weapon at Naraku, stunning him long enough for Kagome to send her arrow at him, knocking the Shikon Jewel out of his body. Inuyasha stands up and sends his Backlash wave to kill him, and Miroku uses his wind tunnel to suck up the remains. They all stand in silence, soaking in the fact that they had finally destroyed Naraku, the object of all their troubles. Suddenly, Inuyasha collapses on the ground, weakened by his wounds.

Inuyasha lay where he had fallen, unconscious. Kagome ran to him and kneeled down beside him. Tears flowing down her face as she stared at his beaten and tattered body. She reached for his hand and felt his slow heart beat. He was still alive. Relief washed over her. She buried her face in his chest and sobs racked her body. She felt a hand rubbing her back. She looked up with blurry eyes as Inuyasha patted her on the back, his smile weak, as if breathing brought him great pain.

“Don’t cry, Kagome. A little scratch like this couldn’t keep me down.” He tried to sit up, but the pain that coursed through his body told him otherwise.

“Oh, Inuyasha!” She could tell he was only trying to comfort her. He’d never been hurt this bad before, but she tried to stop the tears anyways.

Miroku walked up, he could tell that Inuyasha didn’t have much time left. He placed a hand on Kagome’s shoulder and held his other hand out to her.

Kagome looked up at him, then at the item he held in his hand. She took the now complete Shikon Jewel and looked at it. All this had happened over this thing. She wanted to throw it away, wished she had never even known anything about the stupid thing. She couldn’t help but smile. If it hadn’t been for the Jewel, she would have never met Inuyasha. She opened his hand and placed the Jewel in it. He smiled and held it up so he could see it. All he could do was stare.

Kikyo approached the group and stopped behind Kagome. For the first time since her death, a tear ran down her cheek as she looked at Inuyasha, but none of the emotion reached her eyes. Inuyasha looked up at her and a softness came over his face.

“Kikyo…”

“What will you do know Inuyasha?” The group looked at her. “If you stay as your are, then you will surely die. But you could use the Jewel and turn yourself into a full demon and have a chance of surviving.”

Inuyasha seemed to take in all that she said as he continued staring at the jewel. That’s right… that’s the only reason I wanted the jewel was to become a full-fledged demon. But…

He looked up at Kagome.

Kagome

“Inuyasha…”

He smiled at her and looked at Kikyo. “I already know what I’m going to do.”

A worried look appeared on Kagome’s face. He’s going to change into a full demon. But then… will he remember me at all?

With the help of Kagome, Inuyasha managed to sit up. He paused for a moment to catch his breath. He smiled weakly at his friends and then looked down at the jewel. After thinking for a moment, he closed his hand around it and closed his eyes.

The group watched in anticipation. Soon the jewel began to glow, at first just a small shine, but soon it grew into a blinding light. The group shielded there eyes until the light subsided. Kagome was the first to look. She gasped and her eyes widened. Inuyasha was no longer a half demon. Tears filled her eyes and she couldn’t help but look away. Inuyasha was now a human. His silver hair was now black and his adorable ears were no longer there.

“Kagome… look at me.” She sniffed and looked at him. She could tell his strength had diminished considerably. But there was a calming smile on his face. She was surprised to see a tear run down his face. He reached out to her and she fell into his arms. He held her as she cried. She could hear his heartbeat slowing down. His body was becoming colder and his breath was coming in short gasps.

“Kagome, you have to be strong. I want..” He gasped and grabbed his chest. Kagome sat up and placed her hands on his shoulders.

“Inuyasha! You shouldn’t talk. Just rest, you’ll be okay.”

He acted like he didn’t hear her. “Kagome, I want you to have the Tetsusaiga. It’ll protect you when I’m gone.”

She choked back the tears as she took the sword that he held out for her. “Inuyasha! Don’t talk like that. Please!”

As though just that small action drained all his power, his hands fell to the ground and he turned to Kikyo. His voice was rasping out now. “Kikyo..”

Kikyo nodded and approached him. Kagome stepped aside, clutching the sword tightly as she watched Kikyo kneel beside Inuyasha and lift him into her lap. Suddenly, the ground around them started to cave in and an unearthly light began to shine.

“Wait!!” Kagome ran towards the light, but was stopped by Miroku. She looked at him and he shook his head. She turned back toward the scene in front of her. She watched silently as Inuyasha and Kikyo descended into the earth. He looked at her and smiled and that was the last she saw of him before the earth swallowed him and Kikyo.

Kagome and the others stood around the fresh mound of dirt. Miroku, with his arm around Sango, silently said a prayer for the departed. Kagome stepped onto the mound and placed the beads of subjugation over the headstone they had placed there. She sat there silently, only the sounds of Shippo’s sniffling could be heard. She placed her hand on the stone and ran her fingers over the crude writing that read “Inuyasha and Kikyo.”

She stood up and turned to her friends. She wanted to cry, but none of her tears would rise. She smiled.

“Well, I guess I’d better go..”

“Kagome..”

She turned to Sango and smiled. “Don’t worry, Sango, I’ll be fine. Since the Shikon Jewel is gone, then there is no reason to stay now is there?” She saw tears well up in her friend’s eyes. “I’ll miss you all.” She was taken off guard when a sobbing Shippo tackled her.

“Kagome! Please don’t go! You can stay here!” He clung to her.

Kagome smiled and hugged him. “Don’t cry Shippo, you’ve got to be strong. Now that Miroku’s wind tunnel is gone, you’ll have to protect him and Sango.”

He sniffled, “I-I’ll try.” He wiped his eyes as Kagome handed him to Sango.

She took a deep breath and put on the biggest smile she could as turned to her friends. “Miroku… you take care of yourself, and don’t get into any trouble when I’m gone. No more womanizing.”

He smiled and put his arm around Sango, drawing her to his side. “Don’t worry about that, Kagome.” His voice seemed a little shaky.

“Sango, you take care of Miroku and Shippo.” Sango smiled and nodded silently.

Kagome turned to look at the grave that stood in the distance. The shade of the Thousand year-old tree dancing over it. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath and turned to the well. She looked down into the darkness. Once she returns to her own era, she’ll never be able to return. Tears streamed down her face and she turned to see her friends one last time. She smiled and said her last good byes before jumping down the well, leaving the feudal era behind forever.

Three Month Later:

Kagome sat in her room, staring out the window. It had been three months since Inuyasha’s death, and she was beginning to accept it. Last night she didn’t have to cry herself to sleep. As she looked at the clouds floating aimlessly by, she imagined all of her friends faces. Shippo was smiling with out stretched hands, waiting for one of her treats. She saw Sango patting Kirara who was sitting on her shoulder. She saw Miroku with that goofy grin of his. Then.. She saw Inuyasha. Tears streamed down her face as she envisioned him in his last moments before he was taken from this earth.

Why did he have to die? He wouldn’t have, if he weren’t protecting me. He was always protecting me.

She was jolted out of her thoughts at someone calling her name.

“Kagome! Hurry up, or you’ll be late for school again!”

She turned and yelled out the door, “I’m coming mother!” She looked out the window one more time, “Dang it Kagome! Snap out of it! He wouldn’t want you to waste your time dwelling on his memory”. She wiped away her tears and swung her back-pack onto her shoulder.

She ran out the door and, remembering she had left her math book on her bed ran back to get it. She grabbed her book and was running out her bedroom door, when she froze. She slowly turned to the sword that was hanging on the wall, the Tetsusaiga. She stared at it for a moment.

Did I just imagine it? Or… did the Tetsusaiga just pulsate?

She continued to stare.

“Kagome!”

Her eyes widened. “Ooh yes! School!” She quickly ran out the door, putting the thought into the back of her mind.

Later that day, Kagome sat in her history class, mindlessly staring out the window. Her friends looked at her worried. They had noticed since she had gotten better and was coming to school more often, she had been in a very depressing mood and wouldn’t tell them what was wrong. One of her friends reached out to tap her on the shoulder when the classroom door swung open. Everyone, except Kagome who was to busy in her memories, looked at the tall young man who stood in the door way.

He wasn’t wearing the usual blue uniform like most of the school’s uniforms consisted of, but a bright red jumpsuit. Whispers circulated around the room.

“Who’s that?”
“He must be a foreign exchange student.”
“I don’t know of any schools around here with that kind of uniform.”
“And look at his hair!”

The young man looked around the room, his cold brown eyes piercing through everyone of them. He ran a hand through his black hair, which was spiked with silver tips on the ends and glared at the teacher. He sighed and handed him a piece of paper.

The teacher looked at the writing on the paper. “Ooh, well, it appears we have a new student! Class, this is Iruko. He’s from one of the outer islands of Japan. So Iruko, what brings you to Hong Kong.”

Iruko simply looked at the teacher, and without saying anything, took an empty seat at the back. The teacher looked a little surprised, but simply turned around and continued his lesson.

The sound of chair legs scrapping on the floor brought Kagome out of her trance and she turned to see who the cause of it was. Her eyes widened at the sight of him, her breath caught in her throat.

Inuyasha!

She sat there, staring dumbly at him as her eyes filled up with tears. He didn’t look exactly as he had when she had last seen him, but she could tell it was him.

Iruko, who had been looking around the room, noticed someone was watching him, and turned to see the girl. He smirked and stared back, half expecting her to turn around in embarrassment, but was surprised when she just continued staring, a tear ran down her cheek.

She had been envisioning Inuyasha in his half demon form, but snapped out of it when she noticed him looking at her. She could feel her face turn red and she quickly turned around to look at the board.

“Okay class! Review time is over, put away everything on your desk and get ready for the test. Iruko, You’ll take it too so I can tell how much you know.”

Kagome’s face went pale.

A test! I didn’t know we had a test today! I haven’t studied!

Kagome dragged her feet up to the teachers desk and placed her paper on top of the other papers already in a pile. She was the last one to finish, and she knew she had done poorly on it. She had managed to notice that Iruko had been one of the first to turn in his paper. She returned to her seat and watched as the teacher picked up her paper and began grading. His read pen scratching everywhere.

The bell rang and she quickly grabbed her things to get out. If she got out quick enough, then she wouldn’t have to face the teacher or Iruko. She was almost to the door when the teacher’s voice rang out.

“Iruko, Kagome, please stay after class. I’d like to speak with you.”

She hung her head. So close!

Kagome stared at the history book in front of her, chewing on her pencil. She was trying her hardest to ignore Iruko, who was sitting two seats in front of her, balancing his pencil on his nose. They had been called to stay because they had both failed their test. Kagome had gotten a 38%, whereas Iruko had simply doodled all over his and turned it in for a 0%.

They both looked up as the door to the class opened and a young woman come in. She looked at the two students and blushed. She turned to look at the teacher, who was busy reading a book to notice anything. The young woman tapped him on the shoulder and whispered something in his ear. He smiled and nodded.

“Okay you two, you keep studying, I’ve got something I’ve got to do.” He stood up and followed the woman out of the classroom, closing the door behind him.

The room was silent. Kagome continued to stare at the words in her history book.

“What’s your problem anyways?”

Kagome jumped at the sound of his voice, he sounded just like Inuyasha. She looked up to see him turned around in his chair staring at her.

“Wh-what do you mean?”

He smirked. “You know what I mean! You kept staring at me when I first got here, and you were blubbering like a little baby!”

Tears filled her eyes at how much like Inuyasha he was. Her eyes suddenly narrowed at a thought that crossed her mind.

Could he be Inuyasha’s reincarnation?

It could be possible, wasn’t she herself a reincarnation of Kikyo?

“Are you going to answer me or what?”

Tears flowed down her face. She couldn’t speak. Could this really be Inuyasha in another form?

Iruko, annoyed, stood up and turned his back to her. “Why am I asking you? Your just a dumb girl! Your probably crying because your dog died! I’m outta here, this place is boring.” He began walking toward the door.

Kagome’s tears dried up and fire flashed in her eyes. She shot out of her chair and, more out of instinct, yelled, “Inuyasha!!”

He stopped and turned to her, a strange fear flashed in his eyes.

“SIT BOY!!”

At the sound of her voice he took a step backwards. He could see the anger in her eyes, he had gone to far. He turned to run, but instead ended up tripping over a chair, slamming face first into the floor. All he could do was lay there and groan as he heard her foot steps approaching.

“After all this time and you haven’t changed one bit! Even if you are human, your still a dog!” She stepped over the chair and walked over him and out of the class, slamming the door behind her.

He pulled his face out of the floor and stared at the door. “Holy Cow! Girls here are crazy!”

So, there you have it, that’s what I think the last episode of Inuyasha will be like. If you have any questions, or just want to tell me what a horrible job I’ve done, then feel free to e*mail me. ;) I’d be happy to answer any questions you have.
