Whisper my Name

A lone streetlight shone catching a brief glimpse of a black cloaked figure. Rin walked steadily towards her destination, her face hidden by the cloak she wore. She approached a metal door, she kept her arms at her sides, comforted by the cold steel of her shurikens. A small window slid open,

"I am here to see Kabata."

A deep voice asked, "You are?"

" I am Serin."

The heavy door opened slowly, and she could hear the crackle of the overhead lighting. Rin tried to steady her breathing,

`I can do this, I can do this," she chanted in her mind.

She had taken a dangerous path to get this far, assuming a new identity and submerging herself in the grim underground of Tokyo. She almost chuckled. Honor student by day and at night seamlessly gaining the trust and respect of the most feared crime syndicate in Japan.

"Serin, enter."

She stepped into the dimly lit room as she removed the cloak from her head. Rin locked eyes with Kabata. He was a tall muscular man, he exuded power, and he commanded respect. She waited for him to speak first.

"I presume you are here to retrieve the items you seek."

"Yes."

He stood and came around his desk, and slowly circled her.

"I have the curare you seek……."

He traced his finger slowly across her lower lip.

Rin fought the urge to recoil at his touch and looked him straight in the eye,

"Kabata, we have an agreement."

"Ah, yes, Serin, so beautiful," he murmured,

as his finger swept its way down her chin... Lower, over her throat…lower, under her cloak…...lower, making a straight path along her body. He stopped when he reached his destination and cupped her between her legs.

Rin reacted before he knew what hit him, she gripped the blades and plunged her shurikens into him. One plunged into his arm, where he dared touch her. Her other arm wrapped around his neck and slit his throat. Kabata was dead before he hit the floor. She spotted what she came for, grabbed the poison.

The door flew open as two men came in,

"What the hell?"

She crossed her arms in front of her and dove through the window, glass shattered. Rin flipped over and landed crouching on her feet. She saw one of the men, his body almost completely through the window. Rin sprung to her feet like a cat and ran.

When she was finally sure she had lost them, she slipped into an alley and tossed the cloak into the darkness. She took her hair down, unfolded the backpack she had sewn into the back of the cloak. She put her shurikens inside and skipped out into the busy streets. She grinned, the final item acquired , her luggage was packed.

She looked up at the full moon,

"Sesshoumaru, I am coming."

For an instant, the moon shone brighter, embracing her words. 500 years in the past, the moons rays caressed Sesshoumaru as he whispered a single word,

"Rin."

AN: The word shuriken means "a dagger hidden in a palm."
