It was a dark and stormy mid-winter evening. Hardly a soul was seen out on the streets of downtown Tokyo. That is, until a lonely girl at the ‘wonderful and joyous’ age of 17 was seen silently trudging through the slushy-snow looking stuff on the sidewalk. Every once in a while a very large sigh could be heard coming from said youth. The aforementioned 17 year-old young woman suddenly stopped; soon a small cell-phone could be heard emitting a seemingly happy, yet melancholy tune. Said sound stopped as soon as it began when a gloved thumb pressed a button a button on said cell-phone. A few moments later, a small beep could be heard coming from the youth’s pocket, signaling another new voicemail. The young woman ignored the small sound and continued on her way.

About an hour (27 ignored calls, 2 phone conversations, 3 additional conversations, a train ride, a stop at the grocery store, and a bus ride) later, the young woman previously seen walking the streets of downtown Tokyo was again trudging through the slush-like remains of the previous nights snowfall. However, said youth was currently trudging up the family shrine’s huge staircase, which resided on the outskirts of uptown Tokyo. When she finally got to the top of the hill, the 17 year-old went straight for the decently sized dwelling towards the right of a huge and ancient tree. As she walked through the door, the young woman emitted yet another large sigh.
Upon hearing the front door open, followed by the tell-tale sigh of her daughter, Mrs. Higurashi called out, “Kagome, dear, are you alright?” Receiving another sigh for an answer, the older woman became slightly more concerned. Knowing her daughter as well as she did, Mrs. Higurashi decided not to press the issue and let her daughter come to her.

When 17 year-old Kagome Higurashi heard her mother ask if she was alright, the young woman merely sighed again and then proceeded to head up to her room. Once she was in the safe familiarity that consisted of pink walls and a similarly colored bed, Kagome dropped the façade she had used to get home and broke down in a mass of sobs, sniffles, and all out bawling. She just couldn’t get the words he had said out of her mind; the entire scene replaying over and over and over again. It didn’t help that he had looked at her as if she was like gum on the bottom of his shoes; that his eyes now held a disdain and loathing unlike any other she had seen before, where love and devotion had once been dominant. Just because she had told him her true nature; that she was a miko! Hadn’t she told him that she loved everything about him, demon blood included? Another sob ripped from her very soul as Kagome recalled everything that he had said to her, the look on his face as she told him one reason why she had arrived at his downtown apartment in the middle of the week, more clearly than ever before.
“I can’t believe you lied to me, Kagome! Even after we ‘made love’, if I can even call it that now! You lying, cheating miko! You never loved me, otherwise you wouldn’t have lied!”
He had shouted at her, hatred brewing in his eyes. Kagome desperately tried to protest.
“InuYasha, please! There’s another reason why I’m here; why I lied to you in the first place! I’m-- ”
“Can it, WENCH! Leave and never come back! I don’t want to see your lying face ever again!”
He had cut her off in his rage, not letting her tell him why she was telling him that she was his blood enemy, besides the fact that she loved him.

When Kagome finally stopped crying, she decided that she would let her mother on in the secret Kagome possessed. Taking off the charm that her adopted son, Shippo, had helped her Aunt Kaede to make by combining kitsune magic with miko powers that were not her own, Kagome’s true physical appearance and scent were revealed. The young woman looked good, considering she was 3 months pregnant with twins – and true inu-hanyou twins at that – which meant that Kagome was already half way through her pregnancy. As the 17 year-old went downstairs and into her mother’s kitchen, the only thought running through her young mind was ‘I hope Mama understands…’
Hearing her daughter walking down the stairs, Mrs. Higurashi smiled… that is, until she saw her daughter. As Kagome made her way into her mother’s line of sight, Mrs. Higurashi almost fainted. When had her daughter gotten pregnant?!?!?!?!?
