Kagome woke up groggily and went downstairs. She saw her family sitting at the kitchen table.

“Morning everyone.” Kagome said pouring herself a bowl of cereal and a cup of orange juice.
“Hunny it's one in the afternoon. What were you doing last night when you came home Sango said that you were sick?” Her mother inquired.
“Yeah I think I had the stomach flue, but I'm better now.” Kagome sat down at the table and began to eat her cereal.
“Kids these days they are always ill with some sort of sickness.” Her grandfather huffed.
“Now, now Grandpa don't forget that you are always calling Kagome in sick when she has a battle during school.” Her mother said sipping her coffee.

Kagome finished her cereal and started to walk out of the kitchen when her grandfather stopped her.

“Kagome you and I are going on a scouting trip sources tell me that we have a new friend in the neighborhood.”
“Ok Grandpa…I'll go get dress.” Kagome said sighing as she continued on her way to her room.

Kagome went into her closet and threw on a shirt that was nearest to her as well as pants.
She grabbed her cell phone and her fighting gear then ran back down the stairs. Her grandfather was waiting for her in the living room.

“Ready Kagome?”
“Yes grandpa, but why can't we do this later in the day?”
“Because we have to do this now!”

Kagome walked over to her car with her grandfather and drove off.
They came to a house that was worn down and had a bone chilling feeling to it.
Her Grandfather was the first to get out of the car and Kagome grabbing her bow and arrow out of the back of her car followed.

“Now Kagome this should be an easy kill it is just a moth demon.” Her grandfather noted as Kagome kicked down the front door.

Kagome walked in and sensed that the demon was near by so she put her arrow into place. Soon enough the moth headed towards them and began to shoot its poison.
Kagome and her grandfather dodged out of the way and Kagome shot her arrow which hit the moth right into its head.

“You drove me to this place just to get rid of a stupid moth demon?” Kagome said getting up off the floor.
“I told you it would be an easy kill didn't I! Besides this demon was terrorizing the people around here!”
“Wait Grandpa! Watch out!” Kagome yelled.
Kagome shot her arrow, but the demon was too quick and it went right past him. Kagome then reached for her sword and swung it around the demon took his sword out
and swung it around the grandfather got up and tried to block his grand daughter, but the demon took his sword and stabbed the man. The demon looked at the girl and old man and with almost human eyes and swiftly ran away.

Kagome looked down at her grandfather and fell to her knees attending to his wound.
Her grandfather was falling in and out of conscious so she helped support him to the car.
Kagome drove furiously to the hospital she was surprised that she didn't have any police cars on her tail. She was finally at the hospital and her grandfather was quickly taken to the E.R.

Kagome sat in the waiting room fumbling with her fingers.

“Why hasn't the doctor talked to me yet? This is all my fault if I had paid more attention to my senses I could have reacted sooner and killed that demon!” Kagome thought as tears started to gather and roll down her cheeks.

An hour went by before a doctor came to talk to Kagome about her grandfathers' condition.
“Ms. Higurashi you grandfather is ok, however with his age and low health he might not make it, but it still is too early to tell how bad his condition is.”
“Thank you doctor. Can I see him?” Kagome said looking the doctor in his eyes.
“I'm sorry your grandfather still isn't stable enough for any visitors.”

The doctor left to attend to his other patience leaving Kagome alone. Kagome was staring at the clock on the waiting room wall when her cell phone began to ring. Kagome looked to see who was calling and saw it was her mother and answered her cell.

“Kagome where are you? You and your grandfather have been gone for hours now what are you two doing?” Her mother asked.
“Mom it is all my fault! I wasn't paying enough attention and there was another demon that came up behind Grandfather and now we are at the hospital and the doctor says he isn't doing so well!” Kagome said in hysterics.
“Calm down Kagome. Now tell me what happened slowly.”

Kagome explained step by step what happened to her mother.
They hung up and her mother was on her way to the hospital.

“Inuyasha! You aren't being paid to sit on your ass all day!” Inuyasha boss yelled.
“I know old man! Lay off!” Inuyasha snapped back.
“That is how you thank me! I give you shelter, food, a job, and have taken over as an almost father figure and you still are ungrateful!” Myoga yelled.
“Oh come on Myoga will you stop being so sensitive I had a rough night last night.” Inuyasha said scratching the back of his head.
“Oh I'm sorry in that case `Get your hung-over ass back to work!'”

Inuyasha got up off of the couch in the break room and went back to taking orders at Myogas' restaurant. He hated having to wear a tie and an apron, but last time he didn't wear his uniform he had dish duty for a week.

“Man why do I even put up with this.” He thought to himself as he went over to his next customers table. He was unhappy to see that his next customers were his friends Kikyo and Naraku.
“Hello Inuyasha we thought we'd come say hi.” Kikyo said with a grin
“Sure you did what do you want?” Inuyasha said taking out pen and paper.
“Water sounds yummy how about you Naraku?”
“Fantastic.” Naraku replied.
“WATER. Your fucking kidding me water is free! You fucking free loaders!” Inuyasha yelled as anger boiled through his veins.

Myoga overheard his young protégée going off on customers and immediately went over to him and took him by his arm and guided him to the utility closet.

“What the hell are you doing Inuyasha!”
“They asked only for water!”
“So…aren't they your friends besides business is business.” Myoga said letting go of his arm.
“They are just people I hang out with they aren't friends. Besides it's not business when people only ask for free stuff.”
“The other customers could overhear you! Do you know how bad business gets when you have a rampaging waiter on your hands. Especially one that is a half demon! Do you want to get discovered!” Myoga said lowering his voice.
“Relax old man you're just paranoid besides if you took off that little spell of yours you would be the size of well a flea.” Inuyasha walked out of the closet and went back to Naraku and Kikyo.

“Jeez what's going on with you Inuyasha your acting more hormonal than usual or you on your period or something?” Joked Kikyo.
“Look I just need to get some air I'll talk to you guys later.”
“Stop making up excuses what is going on!” Kikyo said worried.
“Nothing back off!”
“Inuyasha we are your friends tell us what is going on!”
“Friends…peh…” Inuyasha turned and left.

Kikyo got up leaving Naraku confused as to what was happening to go find Myoga.
She found him in his office.
“Myoga what is going on with Inuyasha?”
“I don't know. Inuyasha hasn't been the same since last night. You were with him what happened?” Myoga questioned.
“Nothing outside of a girl he met.”
“A girl? What did she look like?”
“Kind of like me I guess, but it would be ridiculous of him to act strange just because of that.”
“Yes I think so too we'll just have to keep an eye on him.”

Inuyasha walked out of the restaurant and ripped off his apron and tie which he then threw on the ground and took out and lit a cigarette.

“I am so tired of all of their judgments. You need to do this Inuyasha, you have to be like this, why don't you do it this way.” Inuyasha said in a higher pitched mocking voice after letting the smoke blow out through his lips. After taking the last drag of his cigarette he doused it on the cold concrete and decided to walk home.

Kagome left the hospital she didn't go straight into the house. She went to the shrine right under the marking place of her father's grave. Tears began to yet again roll down her rosy cheeks and rain began to pour. She beat up herself over letting her grandfather get stabbed, but what was worse is it brought up the way her father died.

“Dad why must I lose everyone I love to those abominations. I lost you and now I'm losing Grandpa too. I promised to help look after this family to help avenge your death and know I have led to the injury to Grandfather.” Kagome said to the marker in an almost whisper as more tears fell fro her amber eyes.

Kagome wiped away the tears and now anger was all that was left.
She clenched her fists and whispered underneath her breath, “I will avenge your death Father and I will kill the demon who killed you and the demon who attacked Grandfather. I promise.”

Kagome rose and noticed that Sango and Miroku were right behind her.
“Hey Kagome we heard what happened.” Sango said giving her friend a hug.
“Yeah Kagome. I'm sorry I made your Grandfather some herbal tea which will help with the healing.” Miroku said giving Kagome the cup then joined in for a group hug.
“I need to tell you guys something. I think that I need to move out of my house until I kill the demon who did this.”
Her friends both looked at her with a confused face.
“It's just that I need to be able to focus and if I stay here I am putting Mom and Sota in danger. I can't let anyone else get hurt.”
“Where are you going to stay then? Where are you going?” Sango asked worried about her friend's decision.
“I don't know away from here I don't want to get you two involved either.”
“First off Kagome it's a demon I'm sure it was a random attack and second off come on you need us. We aren't going to leave you all by yourself!” Miroku jumped in.
“Come on Kags you can stay with me.”
“Really Sango?”
“Of course!” Miroku and Sango both gave their friend a big group bear hug.

Kagome then ran inside and grabbed most of what she would need mainly cloths, her Miko robs, spells, swords, her bow and arrow, and whatever else she felt would be important to bring with her. Right before she headed out the door she left a note to her mother and brother.

“Ready Kagome?” Sango asked.
“Yeah, I'm ready.''
“What did you say to your mom and little brother Kagome?” asked Miroku.
“I just told them I was leaving and that I will be the one to get a hold of them.”

The trio got into Sangos' car and drove off. Sango lived on the other side of town and with the rush hour traffic it took about 30 minutes until they reached her house. Sango showed Kagome to her new room. Sango lived with her little brother all of their family were killed by demons so her house had two guest rooms. Kagome knew Sangos' house like the back of her hand and the room Sango gave her was the room she often felt was her home away from home. It was relatively big though Sango had the master bedroom and it had purple wallpaper and a dark maroon carpet. She had about a queen size bed. There was a dresser and a small desk in her room as well.

Miroku and Sango helped Kagome unpacked and Miroku kept trying to slip her panties into his pocket, but was never successful and when they finished he had welts all over him.

“Kagome don't you think your mom will call here wondering where you are?” Sango asked as they sat on her couch in the living room.
“We'll just have to make sure not to tell her I'm here.” Kagome replied.
“Something tells me this plan might not work out very well.” Miroku inputted slouching in the couch. Kagome then sat up abruptly.

“What is it?” Sango asked.
“Don't you sense it! A demon is near by!”
They all paused and agreed that what they sensed too was a demon.
Sango ran and grabbed her boomerang while Kagome grabbed her bow and arrow.
They rushed out of the house and saw the demon he had a piece of metal covering his mouth. He looked straight at them and dropped the human he was holding then unlatched the mouth guard and a smaller demon came out he looked exactly alike the other demon only smaller and he had two sharp arms he swung them at Kagome. Sango threw her boomerang she figured that if she hit the bigger demon it would make a blow to the smaller one seeing as how they were someway connected to each other. The boomerang killed the taller demon and the smaller demon then made its way towards Sango.
Kagome took her Bow and Arrow and aimed it right for the demons neck the demon noticed this and stabbed Sango in the leg. Sango winced in pain Kagome couldn't get a shot of the demon that wouldn't hurt Sango too. The small demon then left Sango and went after Kagome. He knocked Kagome over and dug its fangs into her neck.

Inuyasha drove towards the end of town when he heard screaming and smelled the stench of demon and blood. Inuyasha headed towards the sent and found the raven haired girl from last night being attacked by a smaller demon. Inuyasha got off of his motorcycle and ran to the demon. He pulled out his claws and pinned the small demon down. With his other hand he slashed the demon. The small demon screamed in pain and died.

Miroku was busy attending to the human which had gotten in the way of the demon.
Miroku put him under a spell that made the human forget what attacked him. Miroku told the human that a dog had bitten him and knocked him to the ground knocking the man out. Kagome looked up at the man who saved her life. “You!” Kagome gasped.
