The Lonely Hanyou and the Affectionate Monk

part 2

A Shelter from the Rain

The sky opened up for the third time that day and one single drop of water sailed downwards. A furry pointed ear twitched at the waters contact. "Damnit. Raining again." Golden colored eyes looked upwards to see the little drops companions diving head first to pelt and soak their victims once again.

"We'd better take shelter fast." The female demon slayer suggested. Shippou quickly took refuge beneath Inuyasha's mound of white hair.

"Its been raining off and on like this for days now, when is it gonna end?" The little fox said peering out.

"Do I look like one of those unbrella things to you?" The hanyou turned his eyes sharply to the boy on his shoulder.

"That's umbrella Inuyasha and lets not stand around picking fights, we should head to the nearest village like Sango said." Kagome said. 'Although I wish I had brought some umbrellas with me. If I knew it was going to rain like this I'd have come prepared.'

The group turned and started running at an even pace back towards the village they'd just left.

"Rrr, how are we supposed to hunt demons for jewel shards, when you guys run for cover at every little drop of rain?"

"Come on Inuyasha do you really wanna risk your health?" Kagome asked pausing her run along with the others.

"I don't get sick and I'm not afraid of a little water." Inuyasha grumbled back.

"Hmph. We-" Before Kagome could fire back at the hanyou, Miroku interrupted.

"Lets just wait out this last down pour and I promise we'll spend all tomorrow looking for more pieces of the jewel and hunting down Naraku. Until then we all need a rest." Miroku glared right into Inuyasha's eyes before the half breed turned his away.

"...Fine." Inuyasha pulled his wrist free from Miroku's grip and began trudging into the village.

"You guys are lucky I'm in a good mood." He mumbled seconds after.

"If this is his good mood I'd hate to see him in a bad one." Shippou commented having jumped from the hanyou's back onto Kagome.

"Yeah but Inuyasha's gotten softer over time." Kagome replied feeling a little bad for upsetting her friend.

'He sure has.' Miroku thought hopefully. It'd only been a few days since their encounter in the woods and Miroku's confession of feelings for the dog eared boy. So far Inuyasha hasn't said much or anything about how he felt for the monk in return. His behavior had changed some though. Like now, with the way he listened to Miroku without a fight and easily suppressed his growing anger. Miroku was still worried though, that maybe Inuyasha didn't feel anything more for him than a one time physical attraction.

The rain was getting heavier as they stood outside the door of an old mans cottage. The same man that just hours ago Miroku convinced was in danger. He'd told the man there was an evil aura surrounding his home and he could help get rid of it in return for their shelter. He had used Shippou to disguise as another demon for "proof". The old man was thankful and let them but now that they were back....

"Well since you did help me out before and you're such a sweet young woman I'll let ya stay here again." The old man said with a chuckle after Kagome thanked him with a quick kiss to the cheek. "Only till the rain lets up though," He began then leaned in to Kagome's ear. "Yer friend there kinda creeps me out." He directed his thumb in Inuyasha's direction.

"Oh don't worry about him he's harmless." Kagome assured.

"Rrr." Inuyasha silently grumbled as he followed the others inside the little wooden home. Miroku watched Inuyasha's expression noticing he was growing more annoyed and impatient by the minute. All he wanted to do was make the half demon feel better but in public that wouldn't be easy. Once inside, the old man had a fire going warming up the damp little cottage, giving it a comforting glow.

"Relax yourselves and I'll rustle up somethin' to eat." He said.

"Please let us help its the least we could do." Sango offered.

"Yeah, we could make supper for you." Kagome added. "I've got some noodles in my back pack we could add to whatever you have."

"Sounds like a plan little ladies." The two girls, plus Shippou still on the human girls shoulder, stood to help the old man in his small kitchenette. With the opportunity at hand Miroku made his way over to sit beside a grumpy Inuyasha.

"Huuh." He sighed in an attempt to get the others attention. Inuyasha kept his eyes closed but was more than aware of Miroku's presence and closeness to him. "You know Inuyasha... staying here the night really is for the best."

"Says you. I'd rather be anywhere else right now."

"Hm, so would I." Miroku quietly whispered while his hand gave the hanyou's thigh a quick rub. Inuyasha's eyes flew open and he stiffened, looking around to make sure no one saw.

"What are you crazy?!" Everyone turned in the two's direction hearing Inuyasha's abrupt yell. Miroku simply laughed with a hand over his mouth. "What are you lookin' at?" The dog eared boy shouted at the others and they turned away.

"Guy still gives me the creeps." The old man quietly repeated himself.

"I apologize Inuyasha, I was just trying to liven things up a bit." Miroku said half sincere.

"Yeah well don't." The dog boy barked back. He turned away crossing his arms over his chest. 'Damn him. What does he think he's doing anyway with everyone around.' His amber eyes glanced to the side at Miroku. He could see the monk looked a little hurt but what could he do about it? 'Stupid monk, its not like I meant it and he has no right to get upset he started it.... damnit.'

"That's it." Inuyasha stood getting everyone's attention again.

"What's it Inuyasha?" The young fox asked.

"Yeah what's going on over there?" Kagome added.

"I can't take this anymore, sitting here hiding from a little rain it's boring and a waste of time." He explained.

"Inuyasha."

"I'm outa here. You guys can stay if you want." He made his way to the door but not before Kagome intervened.

"You can't just up and leave, its pouring out there. What if you get sick?"

"I told you I'll be fine."

Miroku watched as Kagome lost the battle knowing it was his fault Inuyasha wanted to leave. 'I guess I shouldn't have been so forward with him.'

"Fine! Be that way, go get yourself sick or hurt. You know you won't get far in the dark and on your own." Kagome gave in letting her best friend go by.

"But Kagome?" Shippou pleaded for her to try again to stop their friend.

"No Shippou, he's being stubborn let him go."

"I'm sure he'll be back by morning if he even goes anywhere. He just needs some time alone." Miroku added.

"He's right. Inuyasha could just be on the roof or in the nearest tree." Sango helped to cease the worry showing all over Kagome's face despite the young girls decision of letting him go.

"Maybe you guys are right but Miroku,"

"Yes Kagome?"

"Would you please follow him for me anyway? He couldn't have gotten too far."

"Of course Kagome." Miroku with the help of his staff stood and left the old mans house glad to be leaving himself. It'd give him a chance to talk to Inuyasha alone. Given he could find him.

"I hope he can bring him back." The human girl watched after as the door slid shut.

Inuyasha stalked into the dark uninviting woods, where the leaves gave him brief solace from the rain. He slowed his pace now not sure where he was headed but knew why he had to leave.

"Stupid rain," His foot kicked a small stone that was in his walking path. "Stupid Miroku. Why'd he have to go and touch me anyway, What if someone saw?"

The event played out again in the hanyou's confused mind. It was all new and kind of weird to him, having someone, a man touch him the way Miroku did. Not just then but days before. He remembered how physically close and in a way emotionally they'd been that night. He knew Miroku was to put it nicely, amorous, but what they did out in the woods appeared to be more than a quick fix to the monk.

Miroku had even confessed having feelings for Inuyasha, loving him. No ones ever really told the hanyou they loved him before. He didn't know what to say or how to react. So he did what he knew best, ignored the feelings and hoped it would all go away. Though, part of him didn't really want the feelings to go away. It was nice lying there with someone so close and not having a care in the world for those brief minutes. He just didn't know how to deal with it all so suddenly.

"Damnit all." He scoffed as he crouched down to the ground, not sitting so he could at least keep his bottom dry.

"Inuyasha?"

'Oh no.' This was all too familiar to the hanyou. He was kind of hoping someone would come after him but it was still a surprise that Miroku would be the one.

"You sure pick some bad times to run off." The monk teased.

"If its such an inconvenience to you why'd you follow me?"

"Kagome requested it,"

'That figures'

"Aand I would have come for you myself whether she did or not." This made the hanyou look at his companion, turning his head up since Miroku was still standing. "That shouldn't be surprising to you Inuyasha. I've told you before how I felt and no bitter attitude of yours will change that." Miroku said in a stern tone making those amber eyes look away. Miroku sighed. "You just won't learn will you." He began walking away but not towards the old mans cottage.

"Hey where do you think you're goin'?" Inuyasha rose to his feet and followed after.

"We can't spend the night out here getting soaked now can we?" Miroku answered over his shoulder. They walked in silence, Miroku leading the way until they came to a cave just outside the woods. "Ah perfect." The monk said congratulating his instincts and thanking them for being right.

The two walked inside the darkness until they were far enough in, that the sound of hard rain died to a dull hum. From the burning torches found in back of the cave it was obvious someone had been there before, lucky for them. "This should do nicely."

Miroku placed his staff to the dry ground and grabbed two torches placing them together to create a small fire. Inuyasha watched quietly until Miroku began removing his outer monks robe down to the whites.

"What are you doing?" He asked suddenly.

"Well we won't be very comfortable in these wet clothes, you should take yours off too. They can dry by the fire."

Inuyasha raised an eyebrow at his friend not moving an inch. Miroku chuckled quietly then put his hands up in defense. "Believe me Inuyasha my intentions are good. I'm just looking out for your health is all." He sat himself down by the fire waiting for the hanyou to join him. It was obvious they needed to talk and Miroku wasn't going to let this chance slip by. Inuyasha made a low noise in the back of his throat then began taking his fire rat kimono off but nothing else. He sat near the meager fire just a few feet away from Miroku. "See now, that's much better." He stared at the one he loved, admiring him in the fire light. He had always loved the way Inuyasha looked in his beige shirt, the necklace of sutra beads accenting it perfectly. But there would be time for admiring later, hopefully more than outer wear. Right now Miroku had to find out what was going on inside that pretty little head.

"So care to tell me what's been bothering you these past days?"

"Nothings been bothering me," Inuyasha began still keeping his guarded tone of voice. "besides wasting my time hiding out from the damn rain when we should b-'

"Yes yes, looking for the jewel shards. Is that all you think about?"

"Heh whats it to ya?"

"Well for one I was hoping you'd have given some thought to what I told you before. Back in the woods remember?"

Inuyasha remembered all too well and those words have been clouding his mind since. "Yeah I remember," He grumbled lowly "And I already told ya I ain't just gonna-" Before Inuyasha could raise his voice anymore Miroku stopped him with a whack to his head with his staff. "Ow hey!" He immediately rubbed the sore spot. "What the hell'd you do that for?"

"So you would listen to me and calm down." Dropping his hand Inuyasha crossed his arms and waited. "Good, now do you like me Inuyasha?"

"What kind of question is that?" The hanyou spat out.

"Huuh just answer please."

".....Well.. of course I do."

"Then why have you been avoiding me the past few days. Have I come on too strong?"

"Well no, I don't think so.." Inuyasha was starting to get fidgety and uncomfortable with the conversation. He wasn't sure what Miroku wanted to hear or how to even begin explaining it. "Look I'm not avoiding you, really, its just this whole thing is kinda new to me."

"Ah I see, you're a little embarrassed about the whole thing, am I right?"

"I don't know. I guess." Not having noticed the movement from keeping his head down Inuyasha looked up finding Miroku sitting closer then he'd been before.

"Its alright Inuyasha I understand and I'm not going to rush you. As long as you know how I feel about you."

"Yeah."

"And you're at least willing to give us a chance. I won't judge or ask too much of you."

Inuyasha was silent. 'All he wants is to be with me? Guess I could do that or give it a try but what about Kagome and the others?'

"Inuyasha?"

"Don't expect much."

Miroku smiled at the quick reply. "I'll take that as a yes." He pulled Inuyasha's head towards him planting a kiss on his un-expecting mouth. He held him there for a minute making sure Inuyasha felt all the sincerity and love in that one reassuring kiss, that all was going to be fine. Inuyasha flushed a little but neither moved away. "You know we could really seal the deal if you'd return the favor I did for you in the woods." The monk gave a suspicious looking smirk.

"Are you sure you're not just trying to get in my pants?" A guarded Inuyasha asked.

"Well right now I am but before I was being serious. I love you Inuyasha and I'll wait as long as I need for you to return the feelings." He spoke looking straight into those golden eyes.

"I'll give it a shot but I'm not sure I know what I'm doing."

"Don't worry about that, I'll guide you every step of the way." Miroku pulled him into another kiss, one more lust filled this time. Inuyasha found his arms snaking around Miroku's lithe body. Their mouths devouring each other for dominance. Miroku obviously had the upper hand but this time Inuyasha wanted to be in charge despite his uncertainties of what to do.

To his surprise Miroku found himself lying on his back. Their mouths having not parted since they began. He didn't want to stop his lover from exploring or feeling in charge. He wanted Inuyasha to know how much he trusted him and believed in him. Inuyasha was busy groping and trying to remove the rest of Miroku's clothing. The monk gave him a little help by sitting up on his elbows letting the eager puppy strip him. They were both breathing harshly from that intense kiss.

Inuyasha was marveling at the well trimmed and muscled body beneath him. He missed the pleased smile on Miroku's face that he was enjoying what he saw. Leaning up he captured those luscious lips to his own again bringing Inuyasha back to the world.

The kiss was brief though, because Miroku had other plans in mind. "I think we've warmed up enough." He stated. "Now for the real thing." He sat up helping Inuyasha remove his clothes so they could have skin on skin contact.

"What do you want me to do?"

"Do what you'd like just make sure to find your way down." Miroku grinned wickedly before lying back and waiting for Inuyasha to do what he pleased. Taking the invitation Inuyasha started with another kiss but quickly moved from lips to chin and down to the exposed neck. He sucked and nipped at any bit of skin his lips passed.

Miroku closed his eyes letting himself relax into the curious and excited touch of Inuyasha's hands. "Aah." A breath escaped him when Inuyasha's untrained mouth found its way to his hardened nipples. He snaked his tongue out over each one a few times, enjoying the sighs of contentment coming from his monk. When he thought he'd done enough with those the hanyou ran his tongue down the center of Miroku's chest to his navel dipping the wet appendage inside.

Not ready to give Miroku what he really wanted just yet, he sat up and made his way back up to Miroku's parted mouth. Wanting to tease him a little Inuyasha slowly placed his body on top of the other and started grinding his erection with Miroku's. The unexpectedness made Miroku cry out but it was smothered by Inuyasha's mouth on his. His hands went into the mass of white hair and he arched into the grind. Inuyasha increased the speed and pressure of their hips ending the kiss to hear Miroku's sounds of pleasure.

"I think... you know more about what you're doing than you let on." He panted out and Inuyasha gave him a small fanged grin. Then he went back to kissing his way down Miroku's body getting to the hardened shaft that was patiently waiting.

"Aah uuh." A few quick licks and Inuyasha devoured the meat whole making Miroku arch from the stone floor. Satisfied with the reaction he got he continued to suck furiously using his hands to hold down the bucking hips. Miroku's hands dug into Inuyasha's hair and found their way to his furry ears. He began massaging them getting his own reaction this time. Inuyasha purred almost like a cat creating a nice vibration against Miroku's manhood.

His ears being very sensitive in ways Inuyasha never really knew drove him to suck harder. Miroku continued moaning some of them echoing against the cave walls. Putting his tongue into it Inuyasha finished him off pulling away as Miroku arched and shot off.

Panting he fell beside the monk while they caught their breaths. When he came out of the pleasure zone Miroku pulled Inuyasha closer to him and they laid there with heads together.

"That was good for a first time." He said voice husky with left over lust and sleep.

"Yeah?" Inuyasha breathed out and he smiled to himself glad to hear he didn't do something wrong. At the same time Miroku smiled with satisfaction. He leaned over Inuyasha giving him a quick kiss before lying back down. Their heads were resting on Miroku's whites and Inuyasha's shirt while the rest of their things dried near the fire.

"So what do we do about the girls?" The hanyou asked eyes closing.

"Hm, telling them would be the right thing to do but if its going to make you uncomfortable we don't have to."

"...I don't really know. What if telling them really hurts Kagome?"

"That's a possibility but then again she might be happy for you. I know Kagome cares for you Inuyasha and even loves you in her own way but how do you feel about her?"

Inuyasha opened his eyes again staring up at the cave ceiling. "I'm not sure. I mean I like her and all and will always be there for her.. To protect her and all."

"But you're not in love with her?"

"Yeah but that doesn't mean I wanna hurt her."

"Alright then we'll wait until you're ready to decide what to do. Until then lets just keep it discreet."

"Tch you should talk. You can't go around feeling people up and thinking no ones gonna notice."

"Oh right that, I apologize but I can't promise it won't happen again."

"Figures. Just be careful next time."

"Agreed, now we should really rest before getting back to the village."

"Yeah."

Snuggling closer the two drifted off to sleep. Having found shelter from the rain and Inuyasha having found a place to leave his uncertainties behind.
