Don't own Inuyasha. Duh.

"Drink this." The old woman said to Inuyasha. He took the bowl from her hands and looked up at her skeptically. "This will do what?" She sighed, she did not have time or patience for this. "It will make your journey to the past more fluid."
"Whatever." He sipped down the pinkish liquid and laid down on the mat. He felt the stimulus of conciousness slip slowly away. Etherally, her heard the muttered spells the old witch were reciting in the background of his head. He opened his eyes. Around him were festoons of draping vines, virid and resembling a jungle. He was in some kind of forest. He tried to move forward, but a sharp pain travelled down his back. There was an arrow embedded in his chest. How is this possible? He thought. I'm supposed to go back before this happened. Something was wrong. Through the balmy air he heard a sound, and nearby, a figure emerged from the trees. His eyes widened in horror Kagome. She walked up to him, as she had before, and was face to face with her, only his eyes were closed. She felt the odd inclination to squeeze his ears and did so. In his thoughts he was nonplussed as to why he was here, in this time, when he should have been here fifty years ago. A thought came to him and, in a split-second decision, he wrapped his arms around her and pressed his lips to hers. She did not shriek and run away, only gasped in his mouth. When their mouths had seperated, she whispered quietly: "Oh, Inuyasha!" He furrowed his brow in confusion, how did she know his name? If this was when they first met, she did not know him at all. Something was very wrong.

"Where am I?" Kagome whispered thoughtlessly to the grass. The last thing she remembered was being in a dark cave and....little else came to mind after that. She stood, gazing at the terrain around her. The silence, she thought, was peaceful. Despite the chorus of birdsongs that twittered around her, the chitchatting gossip of the brook, the mesmeric, woebegone creaking of the decrepit, gnarled tree, and the solemn whisperings of the wind, she was undisturbed. Their clamorous attempts to enter her thoughts were in vain. She thought it was comforting. Maybe I'm dead she had thought a few times, Maybe this is paradise. But that thought was put aside when she saw the writhing, twirling plume of gray smoke escaping from an odd, wood and stone structure. She started toward it.

"Inuyasha, what's wrong?" Kagome asked him, an innocent smile gracing her features. That smile was just too sweet, that twinkling in her eyes was just too bright, and the content smile across her face was just too content. He had not seen Kagome like this for a long time. She leaned against his chest, sighing in comfort as she closed her eyes. "Remember, Inuyasha," she mumbled against his haori. "Remember what it was like when we were happy?" His heart sped up. His mouth went dry. She looked awkwardly up at him. "If only we could have been together." She stepped a few paces away from him, grabbed the arrow in his chest tightly, and sent a surge of miko energy through it. He screamed out in agony as a purple aura surrounded him, the ineffable pain pulsing through him. "Too bad you had to fuck everything up, love." She twisted the arrow harder, the winsome smile never leaving her face. A faint glow of chromatic purple came from her eyes, as violet as the evil energy around him. "Just let it go," she said, leaning close to him and looking him in the eyes. "let it go. Move on to the next world." With that she giggled girlishly and ripped the arrow harshly out of his chest.
As he lay helpless on the soft duff of the forest floor, she kneeled next to him and gently pressed her lips against his. Their mouths less than an inch apart, she whispered softly, her warm breath tickled his lips. "Let it go Inuyasha." Her words echoed with a hollow resoundment through his thoughts. "....let it go....let it go....too bad you had to fuck everything up, love....let it go, Inuyasha." He doubled over as he began to choke on his own life-blood.
