Don't own Inuyasha, yeah, yeah, yeah, keep rubbin' it in my face....

Sango inhaled deeply. The air was changing rapidly, before she knew it, the frigid winter had transmuted into an embyonic springtime. The birds tweeted melodiously, the whispering wind whistled a little happier, the honeysuckle bloomed, releasing its delightful perfume. Life was starting over.
It did not make sense to her. How could seasons change so fast? It went from humid summer to lazy fall to glacial winter to new spring in a matter of days. This place, she thought, was like a dream. She took a long gaze across the verdant green meadows: the bushy crowns of waking pine trees, the butter yellow dandelions, the gossiping brook, the gentle, ever-swaying, ancient, gnarled old tree that stood lonely in the center of the valley.
She turned around.
The rolling forest spread out for miles, dissipating into etheral mist on the overcast horizen. She sighed, and turned around from her vantage point on the great boulder that seperated the meadow and the grassy field behind her. She lept to the ground, where Miroku had built the crude, makeshift shelter that had weathered them through the blizzard.
He was packing what few trifles they still had.
"Houshi-sama..." Sango said as she hauled her oversized boomerang onto her back.
"Aye, Sango-sama?" He paused to glance up at her.
"Where are we going to go?"
"Anywhere," He said. "anywhere away from this place." He looked at the sublime trees around them.
"Anywhere that doesn't have this..." He looked uneasy. "evil presence."
She nodded subtly and turned with him as they departed from the unnaturally dismal forest of giants.

The old woman walked behind a reed curtain, allowing her less than girlish figure to show through. She whispered something softly to herself. There was a ghostly noise and a light fog as she emerged from behind the curtain. Inuyasha's eyes nearly bugged out of his head, Kagome's too. The little, old lady was now a beautiful, yound woman.
Her feminine curves coupled with her flawless, fair skin made her simply the most exquisite example of the fairer sex Inuyasha had ever been witness to. Her long, blonde-almost white- hair tumbled rakishly down her back. Her scarlet kimono she wore shimmered with its glittery, golden hem-stitch. The two, dark wells of her eyes glowed brilliantly in the ruddy firelight.
"Hello," She said, her smile almost casual. "Inuyasha, Kagome."
"Y-you..." Kagome stuttered. "...How?"
"I am Lucia," She said. "your guide."
"Wait a minute." Inuyasha scavenged his wits from the depths of his vocal chords. "You're the same, old, baba that was here a second ago?"
"I am." She winked at Inuyasha playfully, when he blushed, she giggled.
"So you sent me to that old bitch." He was somewhat less than gentle-voiced.
"I am." She said. "And you should be thankful. That old 'bitch' is one of the most powerful mikos in the world."
"But why me ?" He said, almost frustrated.
"Your love for Kagome-san is the only thing that can save us all. As I said, she is the cornerstone of this world."
"But I nearly killed her," He said. "is that love?"
She laughed mirthfully.
"Your love goes far beyond that world, spilling over into the next. It matters not what you did before. You two are here now." She glanced around the inside of the hut, in all directions. "And the others should be here soon."
"The others?" Kagome asked.
"The taji-ya and the monk."
"They're here too?" Asked Inuyasha.
"Of course," She said. "they followed into this world just like she did." She pointed to Kagome.
"When will they get here?" Kagome ventured to ask.
"Soon," She said. "soon."
Inuyasha stared incredulously at the crowd. His treetop perch gave him a clear view of the 'festivities'. What the hell kind of place is this? He thought, it's like they're having a huge orgy.
The crowd danced and swayed and rocked and moaned and groaned and screamed and shook and laughed as they melted into one another in the village streets.
"This is disgusting." He said. "It's so impersonal, so emotionless." He lept to the ground, landing deftly and silently on his feet.
He walked slowly through the dark forest. The same, spectral trees rose above him, the same, incandescent fireflies gloated gently through the air around him like so many ciners from a great bonfire. None of it mattered to him. He continued on, ignoring the beautiful, twinkling stars above him and the lucid, shining moon that hung above his head like a frozen star.
He walked with his head down, not wanting to see any of the beauty of this world. None of it was real, he thought, so why try and pretend it is?
He heard a low noise to his right.
"Inuyasha?" Kagome called softly from the thick underbrush.
"Over here." Inuyasha said, dispirited. Damn, he did not feel like having her around.
She walked up to him, finding the shadowy ground quite interesting herself now.
"Inuyasha," She said nervously. "I want you to do something for me."
"What is it?"
"I need something from you."
"What is it?" She took a deep breath.
"I want you to lay down." She pointed to the ground.
"Huh?"
"Lay down." She ordered.
"What are you talk-"
"Sit!!" He slammed into the ground.
Kagome sat on top of him, throwing her hair aside casually.
"Inuyasha," She mused. "when do you think it's right for a couple to do it."
"'Do' what?"
"You know, have sex."
"Kagome, have you lost your mind?" She smile down at him and winked.
"Nope," She said. "I want to do what we did that one time last year."
"I thought we agreed to wait until we were ready before we did that again."
"We have," She said, crawling onto his stomach. "it's time now."
Inuyasha did not notice the strange, purple glow in her eyes.

Kagome sighed sadly as she passed a dead tree stump.
"Why has all this happened?" She asked the trees. "Why did Inuyasha have to take the jewel?" She sighed again.
"Now, what's wrong with you ?" Inuyasha called suddenly from behind her.
"Oh, Inuyasha," She feigned enthusiasm. "I didn't know you where there."
"What's the matter, Kagome?" He sat on the stump next to her.
"Oh, nothing," She said. "just being a silly, little girl." She uneasily laid her head on his shoulder. His armed tightened around her.
"It's alright, Kagome." He said, the dim, chromatic hue of purple pulsing in his eyes. "Everything will be okay."

'Lucia' is mentioned in Part One(Canto II) of Alighieri Dante's Divine Comedy (Dante's Inferno). It means something like 'The enlightning grace of Heaven'. I think there's a spanish word 'lucia', but I don't think it's related. Just so there's no confusion.
