Inuyasha does not belong to me.
Seasons
Inuyasha opened his eyes. The pale trees surrounded him. Solemn quietude was spread like a blanket over forest. He stood, on shaky legs, and walked silently back to the village.
Inuyasha pushed the curtain aside and entered the hut. Lucia sat there, in front of the fire, sipping a cup of tea. She looked, borderline glared up at him.
"Where have you been, Inuyasha?" Her gaze never faltered.
"None o' your damn business." He cursed, rubbing the back of his head. By the gods, his head hurt.
"Whatever you say, Inuyasha-sama." She sipped her tea again.
"I said stopping calling me that!" She gave him a warning look and ignored him.
Kagome groaned before opening her eyes. Above her the green, newly sprouted crowns of leaves rocked hypnotically back and forth. The dead leaves on the ground crumpled and crackled as she twisted to sit on her knees. She attempted to stand, but her sore muscles made her movement very slow. She walked unevenly back to the village. The streets were littered with remnants of the former night's festivities. To her right a man moaned in his sleep as he slept beside two women, a large sake bottle in his hand. She made her way to the hut, and walked in.
There was Inuyasha, sitting with his back to her, and the fair lady Lucia. She was beautiful, Kagome thought, she would never be that beautiful, nowhere near it.
"Something wrong, Kagome-san?" Lucia said, giving Kagome a knowing look.
"Nothing," She said tensely. "everything's fine."
Lucia smiled weakly and stood, motioning for her to take her place. Kagome sat down, holding her lower stomach, across from Inuyasha. They dared not speak. Lucia walked out of the hut.
"Inuyasha." She finally broke the stillness. "I need to know something."
"And what is that?" He said, looking up at her.
"Why did you do this to me?" She winced as she adjusted her sitting position. He looked at her quizzically.
"Do what?" He was genuinely clueless.
"You know what, Inuyasha." She said, not looking at him.
"No, I really don't." She looked as if ready to cry.
"Rape me!" His eyes bulged. What was she talking about?
"Are you crazy?!" He said, standing up. "You came on to me !"
"What?" She looked at him strangely. "What are you talking about? You came to me last night in the woods."
"I did not," He protested. "You walked up to me last night asking me to do you a favor." Kagome shook her head incredulously.
"How could you do this to me?" She said, tears running down her cheeks. "I hate you!" With that she marched out the door, leaving Inuyasha alone, and very confused.

"There." Miroku waved his staff in the direction of the small village.
"What is it, Houshi-sama?"
"Perhaps we can find some answers there."
They walked wearily through the streets, staring with disgust at the resting fornicaters. A wooden cart rolled by, the flutter of wildfowl coming from the cage therein and the smell of livestock blew in from the fields. A unusual air of shame spread over the town. Tatters of flags and banners and clothes blew across the dirt street.
"What happened here?" Sango questioned.
"A festival." Miroku said simply.
"I've never seen a festival like this before."
"You'd be surprised," he said. "the kind of things that go on at spring festivals."
"I'm sure."

"Kagome!" Inuyasha called with as much volume as possible. She had run off into the woods.
"Damn girl." He cursed. "She'll get herself killed."
Inuyasha walked along the dirt path that cut through this part of the woods. He contemplated his earlier conversation with Kagome. Had she lost her wits?
"Rape her?" He said to himself. "Where'd she get that from?"
He heard a noise ahead.
There, in the center of the path, stood the Inuyasha doppleganger, the evil, old witch by his side.
"Inuyasha!" Kagome yelled from behind the evil hanyou's knife.
"Kagome!" Inuyasha glared at his evil counterpart.
"Let her go!" Inuyasha yelled.
"Of course," He said as he pushed Kagome off the path.
The old witch smiled a nefarious smile and pushed her palm into the trunk of a nearby tree. The huge tree that had reminded Kagome of the goshinboku. Purple, glowing, indecipherable symbols appeared on the tree above her hand. They moved their way up the tree, glowing like a violet flame, burning themselves into the calloused bark.
Inuyasha rushed to Kagome, pushing her behind him. Suddenly the doppleganger charged at Inuyasha, jumping several feet into the air as he drew his Tetsusaiga. Inuyasha parried the stroke, getting in a blow of his own. He did not wait for another strike, but grabbed Kagome by the wrist whisked them down the road.
The queer symbols reached the top of the tree, the bright green canopy erupted up into purple flames. It spread to the next tree, to the next, the next, until the entire forest glowed with violet heat.
Inuyasha ran tirelessly, the parody of mocking laughter echoing about them. Behind him he saw the other Inuyasha following, moving much faster. They ran into a large clearing, hip-high grasses covered it. He ran, the purple flames at his ankles, following him, surrounding him as it spread wildly throughout the grasses.
Inuyasha did not look forward.
Before he realized it, they were dangling over a raging torrent of ocean surf. The waves crashed two hundred feet below, on sharp rocks. Cinders from the burning grass above blew down over them He held tightly to a fortunate root with one hand and Kagome's tiny wrist with the other.
"Kagome!" He cried. "Grab my leg!"
She looked nervously down at the roaring ocean surf below, then back up at Inuyasha's proffered leg. She took a deep breath and grabbed it, letting go his slipping wrist.
"Now climb up!" He instructed her. "Climb up my leg!"
She slowly made her way up his leg, pulling at his clothes for support. She finally made it far enough up to wrap her arms around his neck, her legs next around his waist.
Her whimpers in fear melted with his own pants of pain as he held them both up with a single arm.
"Now, climb up there." He said, his eyes closed.
"I won't let you die because of me." She cried, tears pearling down her cheeks. He grunted.
"It'll be a lot easier to get up there myself, without havin' to carry you too."
"Oh!" She quickly scampered up, placing her foot on his shoulder, and wiggled her way up onto the lip of the cliff.
Moments later he heard a peircing scream.
"Kagome!" He yelled franticly. "I'm coming!" Part of the root gave way, dangling him six feet lower than before.
"Damn it!" He yelled in anger. "Kagome!!"
