Don't own Inuyasha. Duh.

The Gathering II

"Now for you, little duck." The Inuyasha doppleganger grabbed Kagome's prone body and lifted it up against a tree, holding her up by her throat. She squinted her eyes open.
"...Inuyasha...?"

The real Inuyasha opened his eyes slowly. Hearing Kagome's murmured word, he sat up. He saw the evil Inuyasha putting a clawed hand near her throat. Kagome breathed rapidly, moving her head back.
Inuyasha swallowed loudly. What could he do? He searched around him franticly for something, anything. He paused, and pulled the untransformed Tetsusaiga from its scabbard. Inuyasha looked at it momentarily, then threw it away, clattering with a hollow, metallic sound on the rocky soil. Within moments he could feel the demon blood rising in him, taking over. His eyes blinked red, he charged.

"Kagome," He said with an evil grin. "I really had a good time last night. We should do that more often."
"You," she said. "that was you ?"
"It was." He ran a finger gently down along her cheek, then along her neck. "You're a very beautiful girl, Kagome." He paused at a sound behind him, his ears twitching as he stood alert. Seconds later, three glowing lines appeared across his midsection. The real Inuyasha appeared on the other side of him, his body hunched, his fangs glimmering as he growled. The doppleganger split apart with a howl, millions of insects pouring out from his body, flying away out over the cliff, across the ocean. The old witch had disapeared.
The dry, leathery remains of the false Inuyasha were flattened out on the ground, like a deflated balloon. Inuyasha did not turn around. He was hunched over on himself, his own dark, demonic blood mixed with the other's covered his hands.
"I-Inuyasha?" Kagome queried in a soft voice, not having the breath of energy to say more. She struggled to even stand, and the burning, sharp pain across her stomach kept her from thinking straight.
Inuyasha slowly turned his head, his crimson eyes glowing with sated rage. He stood slowly, moving toward her with a strange curiosity in his eyes. He did not know her. His nose was less than an inch from her face. Her breathing sped up rapidly as he sniffed his along her neck, inhaling her unusual, human scent. She gasped and bit her lip as he ran a clawed finger along her cheek, gently feeling her smooth skin. He grunted, growled.
He repeated, irritated at her ignorance of his command. She looked at him strangely. He growled again, with much more force, almost scaring her. His eyes narrowed angrily at her, he raised his free hand, as if ready to strike.
"Sango!" Kagome franticly yelled with a hoarse voice. "Sango, the Tetsusaiga!" Sango looked up from nursing Miroku's bloody body.
"Miroku," She said, leaning her forehead against his own. "you better not die on me." She kissed his cheek. "Or I'll kill you."
She took a deep breath, and ran at full speed toward the rusty katana.
"Inuyasha," Kagome pleaded. "you know who I am, right?" Small tears pearled down her cheeks, dripping off her chin. Inuyasha squinted in confusion. He smelled salt.
Sango dove, grabbing the Tetsusaiga in her shaking hands. She panted, as her heart pounded rich, wardrum beats in her chest. She twisted her torso accordingly, and flung the sword with all her might toward them. It tumbled haphazardly through the air, until landing with a coarse thud .
Inuyasha's ears perked up. Seconds later a small sound erupted behind him. He looked back. There, stuck blade-first in the hard ground, was the untransformed Tetsusaiga. He looked curiously at it for a moment, then the striped on his cheeks disapeared, his claws shortened, his teeth shortened, and finally, his eyes blinked from vicious red to docile amber. He turned around, shocked to find Kagome standing erect against a tree, looking quite afraid of him.
"K-Kagome?" He said tentatively. "What's wrong?" He walked up to her.
Kagome looked at him through squinted eyes.
"Inuyasha?" She said drowsily. "Is that really you...?" She collapsed in his arms. He lowered her gently to the ground, laying her on the soft duff of the forest floor. He stroked her ebony hair lovingly.
"Kagome," He said with a sad sigh. "don't worry. You'll be all right."
