Do I really have to keep saying this? Inuyasha does not belong to me.

Survival 101

"Inuyasha!" Sango called from across the field, cradling Miroku's seemingly lifeless body. "We need to do something. Miroku will die without help!"
Inuyasha looked up, concern in his eyes. He looked down at Kagome's sleeping form and answered.
"Go ahead and take him back to the village. I'll take care of Kagome."
"Right." She loaded the monk on her back, wishing she had Kirara right about now, and carried him into the woods, toward the village.

"Alright, Kagome." He said half to himself. "I guess we'll have to take care of that little scratch there." He looked closedly at the large gash across her stomach, and sighed. He pulled her shirt over her head, soaked with blood. He looked around, trying to find something to treat her wound. A small puddle of stagnant rainwater was pooled at the foot of a great tree. The daylight was waning rapidly.
He built up a large fire, placing Kagome as close to it as safely possible, and walked over to the puddle. A dilemma, he thought, how could he get the water back to the fire and, once there, how could he boil it?
His lack of knowledge about wilderness survival was obvious. Wait a second, he thought, why don't I just take her back to the village like Sango did? Kagome's injury was much less life threatening than the monk's, but he must treat it seriously and with caution. He walked over to the campsite and kicked the fire out, cursing his own stupidity.
"Maybe being a full demon temporarily makes me stupid." He chided himself as he lifted Kagome on to his back. A small strip of red cloth was wrapped tightly around Kagome's stomach, and her shirt pulled back over her body.

"Hey," Inuyasha instructed softly into her ear. "Kagome, wake up." He elevated her head slightly, and shook her.
"Kagome, wake up!" She moaned as she opened her eyes slowly, looking up at him.
"Inuyasha?" She said drowsily, then glanced around. "Where are we?"
Inuyasha looked around. This was not the same forest they had come through the first time. Everything was different. Large, tropical, festooning vines draped like curtains around them. Dusty light filtered gently through the spread-eagle fronds of towering palm trees.
"I, uh, I'm not exactly sure, um, sort of." She looked at him strangely.
"You mean we're lost!?" Inuyasha took a deep breath, and sighed in resignation.
"Yep." Inuyasha helped her to her feet, leading her to a large tree. "Here."
He sliced a large vine with his rusty katana, and grabbed it. After squeezing it into his hand, to make sure it was safe, Inuyasha grabbed Kagome's chin and pulled her mouth open, leaning her head back. He squeezed the vine tightly, a small stream of water dribbled out.
"We have to get back to Kaede's village." He said, swallowing some of the water from another vine himself.
"But how? And what about Sango-chan and Miroku?"
"They can well enough take care of themselves." Kagome looked at him.
"And I can't?"
"That's not what I meant." Inuyasha said. "I just mean that, since we'll have to go back to your time anyway, we should just head straight for the well."
"Why do we have to go back to my time? That old witch is still out there."
"Witch or no witch," He said, pointing to her stomach. "you'll get fixed up in your own time. It's better that way."
Kagome looked down at her self.
"Oh, this? It's not that bad, just a cut, like any other. Inuyasha, honestly, I'm fine."
Inuyasha looked at her skeptically for a moment.
"Well," He said. "it doesn't matter a bit if we can't find our way out o' here." He looked around at the forest. Kagome grabbed his hand and pulled him along.
"We'll never get there if all you do is talk."
